Problems with sytem recovery on Lenovo G500s

Hello, I am new to Lenovo Community.
I have purchased Lenovo G500s just two months ago. Now I am having problem with System Restore. The system is not creating any system restore on its own and when I go to System Protection under System Properties, an error message pops up. Also software like Revo Uninstaller is not able to create a restore point before uninstalling a software (it just stops responding saying creating a restore point).
I am also attaching two screenshots showing the error messages.

Please help me get this fixed as I believe System Restore is an important feature and I would be making sure that I have restore points made in case I need to restore in future.

Hi Debdutta,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that automatically “System Restore” points are not creating in your G500s Laptop, below are the steps to check and resolve the issue and make sure you un-install any third party Tuning software.
Click on Win+R key together to open Run Window.
Now type in services.msc in the search programs and files and hit enter.
Now you need to check for the “volume shadow copy” service present in the services windows.
After selecting the “volume shadow copy” service you need to right click on the service and select properties and make the startup type as automatic and start the service.
Click ok, restart the computer and check for the issue.
Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
Best Regards
Shiva Kumar

  • Problem with Rescue & Recovery

    Hi!
I have a X61 running on Vista Business. I am facing 2 problems with Rescue & Recovery:
    1. RR tries to run a backup on every bootup even when I schedule it to run Monthly or Never. The program appears not to register the changes to the backup schedule. I upgraded to the latest version of RR, but it didn't help. (Note: Another user posted about the same problem (http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=Special_Interest_Utilities&thread.id=604) some months back, but his problem hasn't been solved.)
    2. Whenever RR tries to perform a backup, I get this error message: "R2R.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I downloaded the patch KB917422 but got the following message when I ran the installation pgm: "Could not find any previously installed compliant products on the machine for installing the product."
    Will greatly appreciate any advice!

First you should try to fix the bad sectors, you can use the following command:
    chkdsk c: /f /r

  • T60 problem with product recovery disks

After Installing disk 1 of product recovery I am getting a message asking for "Final C" disk. I do not have this and I can go no farther with the recovery
How can I get past this? What could be causing this?

Maybe you could provide a little more information as to how you are trying to recover your system, are the recovery discs from Lenovo or did you create them yourself?
    Recovery scenario using Lenovo or self created recovery discs;
boot from the Lenovo R&R or 1st disc created, once it has loaded choose to restore system and then restore to factory settings. Make sure you read all messages carefully. If it says remove disc and turn off and then turn on your system, you will need to, after removing the disc, press the power on button untill the system turns off, then turn it on again without inserting any disc.
You may be asked for a supplemental disc. If the discs are self created you do not have this disc and you need to click on "no". If the discs are from Lenovo you may, may not have one, click "yes" or "no" accordingly. Proceed as instructed and your system will be recovered.
Edit; just had another thought, may / may not be relevant in this case - but just in case: If you are starting the system, then pressing the blue ThinkVantage button, and do not have a factory restore option; - if you can still boot into windows you need to run System Update and let it update itself. Then try the ThinkVantage button again at boot, hopefully the factory restore option will be available.
    Hope this helps

I already tryed to instal the driver but it didn't work, can some one help me??
    Thanks

Lines, it would be better to get a new battery. Search online with battery FRU number or call Lenovo to purchase from Lenovo.
I would suggest you buy a wireless usb adapter too which won't cost much more than the headache.
It's not the brand, batteries can be unpredictable, as any electronic product can be. I had been using my laptop for last 2 years and it has been doing perfectly fine as it was when i got it; except for the battery which was battery manufacturer's problem i guess.

  • Lenovo G580 - WIndows 8 - Resizing OS partition & problems with system recovery

    Hello Everybody,
Just bought a Lenovo G580 notebook with pre installed Windows 8 (500gb harddisk, 4 gb RAM, Intel B960).I have been using Easeus partition manager with Windows 7 & its been working very well.So I wanted to partition my new HDD with it.Upon creating the a new 100gb partition (most importantly from OS partition that was about 428 gb) a very strange thing happened. The Refresh/Reset functions of WIndows 8 stopped working saying required recovery files are missing, also Lenovo One Key recovery program does not work with the message that required service partition is currently unavailable. At the same time, apparently  partition called Windows recovery  (1000 mb, hidden) still exists. One more peculiar thing I noticed & that is there is a new 1mb unallocated partition before the Windows recovery partition. While partitioning I did not receive any message about deleting of any data. One last piece of information (not sure if relevant) is before doing partition I had created a system image that I am unable to restore, Windows 8 repair function recognises the image bit is unable to restore it.
Any ideas how to restore the System Recovery functions or how to restore the system image.
    Thanks
    Petr

  • Problem with usb recovery media

    Hello all,
I own a Lenovo L412. A disc test complained that my HDD is about to die, so I decided to upgrade to an SSD. I bought an SSD, an 16gb USB flash stick and an external disk enclosure. The plan was to get the OS from my R&R to the USB flash stick, replace the drive, reinstall windows from the flash disk, and use the enclosure with my old drive to copy the files I need to the new one, as long as it is alive.
So I used the thinkvantage menu to get the OS to the USB stick, it says this was done successfuly and it also does not allow me to repeat it. The problem is when I try to boot from this stick, all I get is an empty screen and the cursor blinking on the top left corner. What can I do?
    Best wishes,
    plutonas

    Hello and welcome,
Did you prep the USB flash drive before running the recovery ceation?
New or used USB memory keys or USB flash drives require an active partition created from within Wind...
If this is the problem you may be able to rescue the flash drive by one of two methods:
    1) Just set the partition active.  Use the instructions in the link above, but don't clean create or format.  Just select the partition and set active.  Anything else will erase the drive.
    2) Prepare a 2nd drive per the full set of instructions in the above link.  Then just copy the contents of the 1st drive to the 2nd one.
You've already used your one opportunity to create a recovery drive, so be careful to not erase it.  On some systems it's possible to do a hack to create a 2nd drive if necessary.
I can't guarantee this is causing the boot failure, but it's at least a possibility.

  • Problem with system recovery for a new hard drive in my Pavilion p6210y Windows 7 Premium 64bit

I decided to swap out  my hard drive when my computer would fail to start up or crash right after starting. Diagnostic tool at startup said the hard drive was faulty and other times I would get BIOHD-1 and BIOHD-2 errors. I replaced the old WD Caviar Blue 640GB with a new Caviar Green 1TB. I ordered and received from HP a system recovery disc set which included five discs labeled:
    Use This First! System Recovery,
    System Recovery 1:1,
    SYstem Recovery 1:3,
    System Recovery 2:3, and
    System Recovery 3:3.
After putting in the new hard drive I used the "Use This First!" disc and everything seemed to be going fine. The scene showed "Loading Windows" or something like that. After about 10 minutes the CD drive opened and the Monitor showed three images: a big green check mark which I assume meant everything was good up to that point; a graphic showing the removal of the first disc; and a graphic showing three discs to be put in. Wondering whether to put in the System Recovery 1:1 disc or the System Recovery 1:3 disc, I noticed that the drive bay closed with the "Use This First" disc still in. I managed to get the Drive to open after pressing the open button quite a few times. I closed it with the 1:3 disc and nothing happened (no light showing activity in the DVD drive). After a minute or so I managed to get the drive open again after quite a few times pressing the open button. I put in the 1:1 disc and still nothing. At this point I could only open the drive bay with a paper clip in the release hole. With the computer unresponsive and the monitor still showing the same as when the first disc came out, I decided to turn it off with the "Use this First!" disc in the drive hoping to start from the beginning again. Now the directions that came with the HP System Recovery discs state:
CAUTION: Do not turn off the computer, or use the keyboard or mouse during this time. Doing so will interrupt or damage the software installation.
Now when I turn the power on I get either:
the HP blue screen with the green hand, (F11=system recovery), (F9=Diagnostics), (F10=Setup) and (ESC=Boot Menu). pressing esc, F9, F10 or F11 does nothing.
Or the HP blue screen appears and then almost immediately goes to the black screen with " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot media in select Boot device and press a key". I've gotten this scene while trying almost every System Recovery disc in the drive. Hitting a key does nothing other than repeating the same message.
Once I got a "The file is corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computer checksum" error. That appeared only once in about 30 try's.
The open DVD drive button works sometimes and not other times. I can't seem to figure out a pattern for when it will work.
I don't know whether I might have accidentally moved the mouse or hit the keyboard during the first attempt. Can I  do something to the new hard drive to get it back to a state where it can start from the beginning again? Might it be a problem other than the old hard drive. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, of course! See the link to your model's spec above.
My apologies. The previous link went to a spec for the Satellite A505-S6960 (which came with Windows Vista installed). I had too many spec pages open at the same time and got them mixed.
So, are you telling me that I won't get this one to work?(the BPKT)
No. But you may face the problems that I outlined in this message.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 - problem with HP recovery - error 1005

I'm trying to format the computer and reinstall windows.
The laptop does not have a hard disk partition for the recovery. I'm using the DVD's that where made when I got the computer.
I can open the HP recovery system and get about 36% in, before i get the message: "error 1005"
I have tried several options that i could find on google like: cleaning the disc's, setting the BIOS to default, checking the disc's are DVD+R.
Someone suggested that Wireless has to be turned on when using the recovery. Mine is turned off. I can't turn on the computer and switch it on, and the keyboard button (touch button) don't respond.
Any suggestion on how to turn Wireless on, or how to fix the recovery?

    Hi,
There may be a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you have access to this, use the retail disc to perform the installation, enter the activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this is fully supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional driver can be found starting Here.

  • Problem with HP Recovery Manager

    Hi,
I have a new Windows 8 HP laptop and I am trying to create the recovery disks.  After being frustrated to find out that the USB drive that I have won't work (it is Windows 8 compatible), I went with optical drive.  The program recognizes the drive and says that I need 6 disks, but it stalls when I put the disk in.  I get a message saying, "The insterted media is not supported!!"  I am using the recommended DVD+R, which my drive can read, and this is the same media that I used to create recovery disks for my old Windows 7 machine.  I just want the recovery disks, why is this so difficult?
    Ian Brown

Not much help, as we are in the same boat.
I backed up all our files to DVDs, and trying to get them off now is a real headache.
I have spoken to customer support - on the phone and online - and they both tell me I need to take it to a local back up business and get them to recover them as "we do not support on how to recover files from the backup. You need to contact any local backup centre for the same."
I was then told "Once the files are backed up, you could copy back the files from the destination to the required location." - but since they are formatted by using the recovery manager - this also doesn't work.
Just now 'However, there is no option on how to recover the backup files in Windows 7.'
    So basically... Im/we're screwed!

  • Please throw me a life-line: Problem with HP Recovery Manager's File backup option

    Product: Pavilion g7-1070us notebook
    Operating system: Window 7 64-bit
Problematic system: HP Recovery Manager (triggered by hitting F11), made by "Cyberlink"?
    Error message:
The notebook crashed a few times before but I was able to restart it. Then it completely failed and simply displayed a blue-screen with blinking cursor (no error message). Hitting F8 failed to trigger the safe-mode. So I was forced to get into HP Recovery manager by F11. Before the system restore, I had to backup my personal files through the File backup option.
After scanning the computer for my slected file-types and finalizing the list of files to be backed up, it showed an error "No device is available for file backup. Make sure your removable disk is connected" while entering the third step ("Where do you want to save the backup").  This happened even though I have both blank DVD in the DVD drive and USB stick in the USB drive. And the size of the file I was trying to back up is way below 1Gb, a fraction of the storage capacity of the DVD.
I ran the Diagnostic test in BIOS and passed both the "Primary Hard Disk self test" and the Memory test.
    Brief description of the issue:
I have a Pavilion g7-1070us laptop that failed to start and simply displays a blue-screen with a blinking cursor (no error message). I could NOT get into safe-mode by hitting F8, but was able to activate the “HP recovery manager” by hitting F11.
I was trying to back-up my files before triggering the system restore/Factory reset. It asked me what types of files to back-up, then scanned the computer for these files and was finalizing the files for back-up.
These first two steps went smoothly, but at the thrid step whne it asked me "Where do you want to save the backup?",
suddenly an error message showed up saying e "No device is available for file backup. Make sure your removable disckdrive is connected". But I have both a DVD sitting in the optical drive and a USB drive attached!
Can someone throw me a life-line here? If I cannot recover my files, I cannot proceed with the system restore and I am forever stuck here!! Thanks a lot!

    You're very welcome.
If the hard drive and memory passed tests, then it is probably something else, but I can't say for sure.
If you can read the files using the kaspersky rescue disk then the disk is definitely fine and the recovery program is probably corrupt.  If you cannot, then the disk may be wrecked.
I do not believe the recovery disks provide any opportunity for you to back up files.
Once you run the recovery disks, they wipe everything out, and rebuild the software image that came on your PC.

  • Problem with make order from lenovo shop

    Hello,
Today i try to purchase "X1 Carbon" from my cart of Lenovo shop, but on last step "Review&Order" after push button "Place order"  i receive error message like about "Unable to authorize your transaction..." and stay on the same web page, but money was transfer from my credit card to "US/MORRISVILLE/LENOVO GROUP".  On my account i don't see this order - order list is empty.
What i need to do ?

Correct to all your statements.  The crop is just an adjustment, so if you crop an image it will remain that way unless you change the crop or delete the adjustment.
What I do is create versions for the different aspect ratios and create  a folder (say called Print) with smart albums under it that collect the different aspect ratios. You can filter for aspect ratio, its under the Aperture Metadata field in the filter. The aspect ratio is expressed as two numbers separated by a colon : so a crop of 4 x 5 would be filtered by using 4:5 in the filter.
    good luck
Message was edited by: Frank Caggiano Right, crop is one of thse things that needs to be oe on a per image basis. As you said each image will have the crop applied to a different part of the image.
Actually crop can be stamped from one image to another(s). Of course once you've got the other images cropped to the aspect ratio you will probably want to move the crop box around as each image is of course different

Then I tried to shut down the lap top, and surprise, didn't work either, lasted like 20 minutes until I did it manually.
I have been trying to Create the Recovery like 5 times already, erased all of mi files from the computer (in order to get it factory-like) and I am currently running the Recovery again (has been in 30% for 10 minutes already). Last time I did it, It stopped like in 70% completion (on safe mode restart).
