  • Graphical version of Process Chain Maintenance

    Hi Expert,
My BW is running on 730 SAPKW73003, BI CONT 735 SAPK-73503INBICONT
when i run RSPC, it is showing RSA1 menu with extra process chain menu on the right.
Where is the old version of graphical representation of RSPC? Anyway i could get it back?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    MJ

    Hi MJ,
This is new feature (standard) in BW 7.3 version. even if u try to get into RSPC, It will redirect you to RSA1.
RSPC is like embedded in RSA1 and u can use full screen (Shift+F11) to view any particular process chain ( to avoid all other standard options of RSA1.)
even RSPC1 will take you to same place(RSA1)

  • Process Chain Maintenance

    Hi,
I have a process chain for calculating the forecast.
In my process chain, I have ensured that at a time only 4 jobs run.
Last week, when I ran the process chain it had failed.
When I look in the log of the jobs from process chain, it does not show any error.
Also the status of job in SM37 is "Finished"
If the job had failed it would have shown as "Cancelled".
Also, when I look for these jobs in Process Chain, it is shown as failed, but in logs it is shown as success.
Has anyone come across such a situation?
Also can share me some information on Process chains, where process chains has behaved differently from the expected?
May be notes id or documents.
    Thanks,
    Vikas

    Vikas,
we have this problem...long back i posted in this forum...one close answer is monitor RSPC seperately...u can not catch any abend in process chain through any ABAP program..

  • Process Chain Priority Schedule in 3.5

    Hi Gurus,
Is it possible to schedule jobs with a priority A, B, C like in Netweaver 2004s? If yes, how and where? I have a meta-chain which I scheduled with time and running daily. It is perfectly working fine. However, I am just interested to know if there is a functionality in 3.5 like in Netweaver 2004s that when you schedule it will give you a choice for Priority A, B or C.
    Your answers are highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Process type "Delete overlapping request in cube " in process chain

    Hi
can somebody suggest me where i need to place the process type "Delete overlapping request" for an infocube.
    Regards,

    Hi,
When you use the corresponding process in the process
chain maintenance screens to specify the conditions for
automatic deletion, these conditions are applied to all
the InfoCubes for the selected InfoPackages
Overlapping: If you set this indicator, existing requests are also
delete from the InfoCube if the selection criteria of the new request partially or wholly overlap the selection criteria of the request to be deleted
Same or Comprehensive: If you set this indicator,
requests are only deleted from the InfoCube if
the selection conditions of the new request are
the same as or more comprehensive than the selection
conditions of the request to be deleted.

  • Process Chain/OS command issue

    Hello,
I am trying to execute a command similar to the following in an OS command in a process chain:
    cp /path/filename*.txt /path/filenamexxx.txt
    I know it's not a permissions problem.
This is the error message from the Process Chain Maintenance Log View:
cp: cannot access /path/filename*.txt: No such file or directory
External program terminated with exit code 1
I'm thinking it is a problem with the *(wildcard). If I take out the *(wildcard) it works flawlessly. It seems like SAP is not correctly interpreting the * character.
The purpose of my doing this is to remove the date text from the end of the file and store it in a different directory without the date text. e.g.
filename08032006.txt copy to different directory as filename.txt
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gary Martins

    hi,
i do not know what process cain maintenace view is but I wonder how this command should work on the commandline correctly:
    say you have
    filename_1.txt
    filename_2.txt
and copy them according to your example to
    filename_x.txt
This would be n files copied to one destination file. At best you had the destination overwritten n times and be left with the last source file in the destination file.
Would that make sense? Probably therefore this construct is not supported.
    just my 2 cents,
    anton

  • Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is  DB

Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is  local machine database [NOT Flatfile]

    Hi vijay,
First you create an Infospoke with destination as a DB table in your local BI or BW Machine. Now add this infospoke by going through below steps.
    1. Call up the process chain maintenance. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Chain Maintenance from the Administrator Workbench toolbar. The Process Chain Maintenance Planning View screen appears.
    2. In the left-hand screen area of the required This graphic is explained in the accompanying text display component, navigate to the process chain in which you want to insert your InfoSpoke. Double-click to select it. The system displays the process chain plan view in the right-hand side of the screen.
If no suitable process chain is available, you need to create a new process chain. You can find additional information under Creating a Process Chain.
    3. To insert a process for extraction by means of an InfoSpoke, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Types in the left-hand area of the screen. The system now displays the process categories available.
4.In the process category Loading Process and Post Processing, choose the application process type This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Data Export into External Systems.
5.Insert the Data Export into External Systems application type with Drag&Drop into the process chain. The dialog box for inserting a process variant appears.
6.In the Process Variant field, enter the name of the InfoSpoke that you want to include in the process chain, or select it by means of the input help.
Once You have added the infospoke you have to write a program which will fetch the database table that you filled and transfer the data fetched to other legacy system with the help of XI System

  • Authorizations setting for running the process chain

    Hai
Iam planning to run the process chain for loading the data into ODS. But i dont have authorization for it.
so what are the authorizations i need to run the process chain in my system. And how can i set all those authorizations to my user-id.  I have all authorization rights .
    Pls let me knw
    kumar

    Hi,
    Authorizations for Process Chains
    Use
You use authorization checks in process chain maintenance to lock the process chain, and the processes of the chain, against actions by unauthorized users.
    ·        You control whether a user is allowed to perform specific activities.
    ·        You control whether a user is allowed to schedule the processes in a chain.
The authorization check for the processes in a chain runs when the system performs the check. This takes place upon scheduling or during synchronous execution. The check is performed in display mode. The check is performed for each user that schedules the chain; it is not performed for the user who executes the chain. The user who executes the chain is usually the BI background user. The BI background user automatically has the required authorizations for executing all BI process types. In attribute maintenance for the process chain, you can determine the user who is to execute the process chain.
See also: Display/Maintenance of Process Chain Attributes ®  Execution User.
    Features
For the administration processes that are bundled in a process chain, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_ADMWB.
To work with process chains, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_PC. You use this authorization object to determine whether process chains can be displayed, changed or executed, and whether logs can be deleted. You can use the name of the process chain as the basis for the restriction, or restrict authorizations to chains using the application components to which they are assigned.
    Display/Maintain Process Chain Attributes
    Use
You can display technical attributes, display or create documentation for a process chain, and determine the response of process chains during execution.
    Features
You can display or maintain the following attributes for a process chain:
    Process Chain ® Attribute ® ...
    Information
    Description
    ( Rename)
You can change the name of the process chain.
    Display Components
Display components are the evaluation criterion in the process chain maintenance. Assigning the process chains to display components makes it easier to access the chain you want.
To create a new display component, choose Assign Display Components in the input help window and assign a technical name and description for the display component in the Display Grouping dialog box that appears.
    Documents
You can create and display documents for a process chain.
    For more information, see Documents.
    Last Changed By
Displays the technical attributes of the process chain:
    ·        When it was last changed and who by
    ·        When it was last activated and who by
    ·        Object directory entry
    Evaluation of Process Status
If you set this indicator, all the incorrect processes in this chain and in the overall status of the run are evaluated as successful; if you have scheduled a successor process upon error or always.
The indicator is relevant when using metachains: Errors in the processes of the subchains can be evaluated as “unimportant” for the metachain run. The subchain is evaluated as successful, despite errors in such processes of the subchain. If, in the metachain, the successor of the subchain is scheduled upon success, the metachain run continues despite errors in “unimportant” processes of the subchain.
Mailing and alerting are not affected by this indicator and are still triggered for incorrect processes if they have an upon error successor.
    Polling Indicator
With this indicator you can control the response of the main process for distributed processes. Distributed processes, such as the load process, are characterized as having different work processes involved in specific tasks.
With the polling indicator you determine whether the main process needs to be kept until the actual process has ended.
    By selecting the indicator:
    -         A high level of process security is guaranteed, and
    -         External scheduling tools can be provided with the status of the distributed processes.
However, the system uses more resources; and a background process is required.
    Monitoring
With the indicator in the dialog box Remove Chain from Automatic Monitoring?, you can specify that a process chain be removed from the automatic monitoring using CCMS.
By default CCMS switches on the automatic process chain monitoring.
For more information about the CCMS context Process Chains, see the section BW Monitor in CCMS.
    Alerting
You can send alerts using alert management when errors occur in a process chain.
For more information, see Send Alerts for Process Chains.
    Background Server
You can specify here on which server or server group all of the jobs of a chain are scheduled. If you do not make an entry, the background management distributes the jobs between the available servers.
    Processing Client
If you use process chains in a client-dependent application, you can determine here in which client the chain is to be used. You can only display, edit, schedule or execute the chain in this client.
If you do not maintain this attribute, you can display, edit, schedule or execute the process chain in all clients.
Process variants of type General Services that are contained in a process chain with this attribute set will only be displayed in the specified client.
This attribute is transported. You can change it by specifying an import client during import. You must create a destination to the client set here in the target system for the import post processing (transaction RSTPRFC)  The chain is activated after import and scheduled, if necessary, in this client.
    Execution User
In the standard setting a BI background user executes the process chain (BWREMOTE).
You can change the default setting so that you can see the user that executes the process chain and therefore the processes, in the Job Overview. You can select the current dialog user who schedules the process chain job, or specify a different user.
    The setting is transported.
The BI background user has all the necessary authorizations to execute all BI process types. Other users must assign themselves these authorizations so that authorization errors do not occur during processing.
    Job Priority
You use this attribute to set the job priority for all of the jobs in a process chain.

  • Reg. process chains

    Hi
Will any one send step by step to do process chain. I am getting stuck in middle.
    Please help.
    Thanks.
    regards
    Sridhar
    [email protected]

    Hi Sridhar,
What exactly you mean by saying "to do process chain". If you want to know the steps to create a process chain, here are the guidelines:
    In the BW Administrator Workbench:
          1.      Choose the  Process Chain Maintenance icon from the AWB toolbar.
<i>The Process Chain Selection dialog box appears.</i>
           2.      Choose Create.
           3.      Enter the technical name and a description of the chain, and confirm your entry.
<i>The Add Start Process dialog box appears.</i>
         4.      Create a variant for a start process.
a.On the Maintain Start Process screen, choose whether you want to schedule the chain directly or whether you want to start it using a metachain.
                    b. If you choose to schedule the chain directly, enter the start date value for the chain under Change Selections and save your entries.
<i>The Maintain Start Process screen appears again.</i>
                    c. Save your entries, go back to the previous screen and confirm your entries in the Add Start Process dialog box.
<i>The  Plan View of the process chain maintenance screen appears.</i>
In the left-hand area of the screen, a navigation area is displayed. In the right-hand area of the screen, the process chain is displayed.
Note: If the process that you used to create a chain is linked to additional processes by default, the respective process variants are generated and inserted into the process chain automatically. These variants are suggestions and can be changed, replaced or removed from the chain as required. Variant maintenance is called when the change run performs automatic insert.
You can turn this system response off using Settings  Default Chains.
      5.      Use Drag&Drop or a double-click to insert any additional relevant processes into your process chain.
Choose  Process Types to select the processes. This sorts the process types according to different categories. You can also call up InfoPackages and processes for the data target from the separate  InfoSources and   Data Targets navigation trees.
      6.    When you add a process, you need to select a process variant or create a new variant. For collection processes, the system uniquely determines the variants
Various functions for editing the process are available from the context menu:
    7.      Hold down the left mouse button to connect the processes with events.
Note: Before you do this, select the process underneath the process type row, and position the cursor over the required process. When you select the process type row, the whole process is moved into the plan view.
From the context menu of a link, you can display the event or remove the link. To do this, select the link and right-click with the mouse.
    8.      If necessary, specify whether you want the event to be triggered after the previous process has been completed successfully or unsuccessfully, or whether you want the event to be triggered independently of the outcome of the process that precedes it. If the process that triggers the event has more than one option, choose the option after which the successor process is to be run
           9.      Assign a display component to the process chain using <i>Attributes -> Display Components.</i>
       10.      Maintain additional process chain attributes if necessary.
       11.      Check your process chain in the  Check View and make any necessary corrections.
Note:The  Legend explains the meaning of the different colors used to display the processes and links.
From the context menu for a process, you can display the messages resulting from the check.
During the check, the system calculates the number of parallel processes according to the structure of the chain (subchains are recursively taken into account here). The result is compared with the number of background processes on the chosen server (or the total of all available servers if no server is specified in the attributes of the process chain). If the number of parallel processes is greater than the number of available background processes, the system highlights every level of the process chain where the number of processes is too high. The system produces a warning for these levels.
    12.      Save your process chain if it does not contain any errors.
    <b>Result:</b>
You can activate and schedule your process chain. After scheduling, the chain starts in accordance with the start process selections. For example, if you scheduled the start process directly and chose Immediately as the start date value, the chain run starts immediately after scheduling.  In the  Log View, you can display the reports for the chain runs.

  • How to create process chains, and how to use process like and or xor

    Hi,
How to create process chains, and how to use process like and or xor.
can any one please give me a example in each.
    Thanks,
    cheta.

    Hi Cheta,
Here is step by step procedure to create process chains
Process chain is nothing but executing a process ..(or) loading the data any process we can do in background.. that means.. automatically we can execute our process based on Time or any event..
    Creating Process Chains
    Prerequisites
If you want to include a load process in the process chain, you need to have already created an InfoPackage.
You cannot load flat file data from a client workstation in the background. For this reason, you have stored your data on an application server.
    Creating Process Chains
You have the option of creating a process chain in the process chain maintenance screen directly or by using a maintenance dialog for a process:
Creating a Process Chain Directly in the Process Chain Maintenance Screen
You are in the BW Administrator Workbench.
    1. Click on the Process Chain Maintenance icon in the AWB toolbar.
The Process Chain Selection dialog window appears.
    2. Choose Create.
    3. Enter the technical name and a description of the chain, and confirm your entry.
The Add Start Process dialog window appears.
    4. Create a variant for a start process.
    1. a. On the Maintain Start Process screen, choose whether you want to schedule the chain directly or whether you want to start it using a metachain.
    2. b. If you choose to schedule the chain directly, enter the start date value for the chain under Change Selections and save your entries.
The Maintain Start Process screen appears again.
    3. c. Save your entries, return to the previous screen and confirm your entries in the Add Start Process dialog window.
You are taken to the Plan View of the process chain maintenance screen.
In the left-hand area of the screen, a navigation area is displayed. In the right-hand area of the screen, the process chain is displayed.
    5. Use the drag-and-drop function to add the relevant processes into your process chain.
You use the Process Types function to select the processes. This sorts the process types according to different categories. You can also call up InfoPackages and processes for the data target from the separate InfoSources and Data Targets navigation trees.
    Hope this helps
