Product Hierarchy to COPA

Hi All,
We have defined and maintained product hierarchy as 4 levels with each level as 2 CHAR. This was done by appending the structure. Now in COPA,, how do we get this? Bcoz in COPA the characteristics are different. What changes needs to be done by COPA to pull this?
rgds..Ameet

hi
you can define the characterstics which is similar to the appended structure.
in SPRO - while defining the OPERATING CONCERN.
hope this clears your issue.

  • Product hierarchy in COPA

    Hi all,
I am new to COPA. What I need to do is creating a report that is using a product hierarchy that we can define.
So I started and created a hierarchy in V/76 like we need it. Those values can now be entered into the "Prod. hierarchy" field for each material in material master - basic data 1.
Then I have created a characteristic for the field MARA-PRDHA (Product Hierarchy) in COPA and assigned it to our operating concern in COPA. Now I created a form (KE34), double clicked on a column to add a characteristic and selected my PROD HIERARCHY characteristic. Now in the window for "selected characteristics" there is a checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" so I checked that, but it says "No hierarchies exist for this characteristic".
So is this the right way to do it? How can I add product hierarchies to my COPA report, we would like to be able to "click" through the hierarchy, like starting on the highest level and clicking down.
    Thanks
    Anne

    Anne,
Do not a check on checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" . Select value( Hierarchies from Definition drop down window) .
    Thanks,
    Mahesh

  • COPA - Product Hierarchy

    Dear all experts,
My client has split the product hierarchy in COPA into 3 levels.
    For example, ProdHier01-1, ProdHier01-2 & ProdHier01-3.
Then they use these values in COPA to further derive the detailed product characteristics.
By looking at the questions posted in SCN, I realized that the naming convention (ProdHier01-1, etc) and setting (create characteristic with reference to MARA-PAPH1/2/3) are the same.
So I assume this is the standard SAP way to create the prod. hierarchy in COPA.
    Now my question is,
    1) Is it necessary (or standard way) to create 3 COPA characteristics to derive each level from PAPH1/2/3?
    2) What is the purpose to create no. of COPA characteristics according to no. of product hierarchy level?
    3) Can I just create 1 COPA characteristic and map it to the full length of product hierarchy value?
I can still derive the detailed product characteristics from this 1 COPA characteristic.
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Sebastian

    Hello Madhu,
    Thanks for your reply.
That is my main question, why do we need to update Prod.Hier1/2/3 in COPA?
Is it the standard SAP way that's why my client just follows?
When I check in the derivation rule, this Prod.Hier1/2/3 is later being used to derive detailed product characteristics where I am able to get it if i map 1 COPA characteristic to full length product hierarchy value.
What is the purpose of splitting them into 3 levels if there is no other functionality of this piece of info in COPA?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

  • Default Account Assignment- product hierarchy

We have a requirement when any transaction posting to a write off G/L account to automatically include Product Hierarchy.  I have used OKB9 before for C/C and P/C but not Product Hierarchy.  Is this possible, if so, how?
    Thank you!

    AMS,
First make sure that the account is set to post to COPA.  Make an entry in OKB9 for this account and click the Profitability segment indicator.  Also, assign the account to a PA transfer structure (KEI2) to map the account to a COPA value field.
As far as assigning the product hierarchy to COPA characteristics, you have several options depending on whether you want the whole hierarchy assigned to one characteristic or if you want to split each level into seperate characteristics.  Also, the hierarchy can be maintained in the material master in the general view (MARA) or the sales org view (MVKE),  Let's assume you want to assign the whole hierarchy into a single field using the general data view assignment.  To do this just create a table lookup step in KEDR.  Select table MARA as the source.  Field MATNR will automatically be match to your COPA product field (ARTNR).  In the assignment section select field PRDHA from table MARA and enter the COPA characteristic field you want to store this value in.  If you haven't yet assigned the product hierarchy characteristic to your operating concern you will need to do that first.
    thanks,

  • Production hierarchy to be update in COPA

    Hi SAP expert
i having problem and need SAP Gurus expert to help me resolve this issue, when i creating each material, i need to create production hierarchy for each material.
    example
    Material A - Production Hierarchy is 0001
    Material B - Production Hierarchy is 0002
i managed to create all process in MM. the problem is the production hierarchy not updating in COPA site. when can be wrong ? any config missing ? or COPA just for SD site ?

There is no direct link between MM and COPA , the values to COPA will be coming from SD condition types . The problem may be between MM ans SD

  • Product Hierarchy Derivation in COPA

    Hi Gurus,
We have 6 levels of Product hierarchy defined in the system and I am able to include it in the data structure. The related Characteristics are PAPH1,PAPH2,PAPH3,PAPH4,PAPH5,PAPH6 included in my operating concern. Level 1 has 1 character in number and rest of the levels has 3 characters each in number as follows.
    Level 1--1 Number of Character
    Level 2--3 Number of Characters
    Level 3--3 Number of Characters
    Level 4--3 Number of Characters
    Level 5--3 Number of Characters
    Level 6--3 Number of Characters
Hence all together the total number/length is 16.
Now, when I generated the operating concern, the derivation rules for product hierarchy are created automatically as follows.
Following is the screen shot for source field if I open step number 22
The corresponding screen shot for Target field is as follows
For step 23 , the source field details are same as step 22 but target field details are as follows
We have assigned Product hierarchy in Material master in tab Sales:Sales Org 2 which is 16 digits.
Now when I try to test the derivation rule for step 22, system gives me following error
    =================================================================================
Characteristic value   010 does not exist for characteristic PAPH2 (ProdHier01-2)
    Message no. KE0C133
    Diagnosis
The characteristic "PAPH2" ("ProdHier01-2") should be posted to Profitability Analysis (CO-PA). When the system checked the entries, it was established that the transferred characteristic value ("  010") is not valid in CO-PA.
    System Response
The data is not consistent and therefore cannot be transferred to CO-PA.
    Procedure
With the function Maintain Characteristic Values, you can add characteristic values to those that are valid.
    ==================================================================================
I am getting the same error for all steps in test mode. How to fix this error? Do I need delete the PAPH1--PAPH6 characteristics and use the user defined characteristics and write derivation rule again? Also I want to know the use of steps 28 to 31 (clear) in this regard.
I have not included characteristic PRODH in my data structure. Do I require to include it in my Operating concern?
    Regards,
    makrand

    Dear Ajay,
Hearty Thanks for the solution. As suggested by you, I removed "move" steps and defined the Table Lookup" steps.
There are two target entries i.e MVKE (Origin) table and the field name is PRODH (Product Hierarchy) which is equivalent to second target entry COPA (Origin) field (PAPH1 -----to PAPH6) in the same line.
In field PRODH,I used offset position. I selected "Entire Field Contents" and kept character position as 0 and kept total characters as 16 in each table lookup entry.
Again I have to make offset settings in PAPH1---PAPH6 fields. I selected "Entire Field Contents" tab and system automatically changed the field length for PAPH1 to PAPH6. Now the results are correct.
I arrived at solution after making some combinations in offset. Thought, this may be useful for somebody facing the similar issue.
What's the use of "Clear" steps which are generated by system?
    Thanks and regards,
    makrand

  • R/3 Product Hierarchy in BW data model.

    Hi all,
We have been told by our implementation partner that the scenario described below is not feasible to design in our BW 3.5 system and if we were to implement this scenario there would be a significant amount of user maintenance to maintain the hierarchy structure in BW.
I was a query user in previous BW versions and my datawarehouse modeling experience is mostly in Cognos and Business Objects. The scenario described below is very easily implemented in these other datawarehouse software packages and I would be suprised if SAP does not have a standard solution to address the problem.
I would like to understand if:
    (1) Yes this solution can be easily implemented in BW 3.5
    (2) A brief explanation on the design approach, implementation, and considerations
I am already familiar with the link on http://sap.help.com that explains BW hierarchy design and considerations, but I would like to get a "real world" understanding of an approach and design and if you experienced this requirement.
Thank You in advance for your input.
    Regards,
    -Anthony
    <b><u>Scenario:</u></b>
In R/3 we have modified the standard delivered product hierarchy structure for material master from 5,5,8 to be 5,5,4,4.
The 4 levels represent: BRAND --> PRODUCT LINE --> PRODUCT CATEGORY --> PRODUCT SUBCATEGORY
Our intent is to use this structure to satisfy current BW reporting requirements for COPA and R/3 Billing infocubes.
In BEx Explorer we would like to perform product analysis using the following dimension paths:
BRAND --> PRODUCT LINE --> PRODUCT CATEGORY --> PRODUCT SUBCATEGORY
PRODUCT LINE --> PRODUCT CATEGORY --> PRODUCT SUBCATEGORY
    PRODUCT CATEGORY --> PRODUCT SUBCATEGORY
We are told that since we have multiple values at the BRAND node we will not be able to perform grouped reporting the starts at PRODUCT LINE node(which would be independent of the BRAND node). For example:
    BRAND,          PRODUCT LINE,          PRODUCT CATEGORY
    HONDA,          AUTOMOBILE,          CIVIC
    HONDA,          AUTOMOBILE,          ACCURA
    HONDA,          BLOWER,                  CIVIC
    HONDA,          MOTORCYCLE,          ODESSY
    FORD,          AUTOMOBILE,          EXPLORER
    FORD,          BLOWER,                  EXPLORER
    FORD,          MOTORCYCLE,          CHAMPION
So for example we would like to start our dimensional anaylsis to show all AUTOMOBILE or BLOWER sales independent of the fact they were for HONDA or FORD.
In other datawarehouse systems I have either: (1) created 3 dimensions called: BRAND, PRODUCT LINE, and PRODUCT CATEGORY or (2) created one dimension called BRAND with alternate dimension paths for PRODUCT LINE and PRODUCT CATEGORY. I am not sure if this is feasible in BW.
We were also told in order to achieve this design a structure would have to be maintained in BW every time we introduce a new material master and the material master would need to be manually entered into the structure so that reporting can be achieved for both the standard structure and the alternate structure(s).<b></b>

    Antony ,
there will be maintenance involved every time you add a material to the material master. However you could maintain the hierarchy through a GUI also depending on the number of values.
Ideally if this can be maintained in a table in the source system , it can be imported into BW. Otherwise if you were to maintain it in BW , you will have a lot of problems when :
    1. Change in the hierarchy - A new Product Line coming in and many product category onwards change over to the new product line.
    2. Viewing the changed hierarchy over time - If you have GM and a separate category called Daewoo , earlier they were separate and now they are one - what are my product sales due to the merged entity vis-a-vis separate entities earlier...
Things that you will need to consider from a design stand popint are :
    1. Should the hierarchy be time dependent ?
    2. Should it be maintained in the source system or in BW?
    3. Change process for the same - Flat file / Manual
    4. Estimate of how frequent the hierarchy would change?
    5. Will you have display hierarchies - Ad-Hoc hierarchies to view certain combinations?
Depending on the above your hierarchy creation can go from easy to complex and hard to maintain.
One way to amintain it is to have a SAP ABAP program to populate a hierarchy table to have the relations in R/3 and transfer them into BW. You could automate it in such a way that the hierarchy is changed every time there is a new material
Otherwise , there can be a flat file to create the relationships
Or someone could log a request and if the change is minimal it couldbe done thru a GUI Interface provided by BW.

  • Product group in COPA

    Hi Gurus,
Can you plese let me know the procedure of creating 'Product Group' in COPA? I know this is very general question but I  have no idea about this as when I went to KES1 and KEA6 I could find product Hierarchy but not prodcut group. I assume there is difference between both.
    Regards,
    Pushkar

    Hi
What is the difference between KMMAKL and MATKL characteristics when they are derived from the same table and field?
Will they be displayed with different names in COPA, like one as 'Product Group' and the ohter as 'Material Group'?
My requirement is to have 'Product Group' characteristic in the operating concern. Right now, I see product group field in Cost Center to COPA assessment segments, but i am not able to populate it with material group.
So should I add KMMAKL or MATKL, or can I add both?
      Thanks in advance.

  • PRODH & CO-PA Product Hierarchy

In our project , we had a three level product hierarchy structure with length of the each level being 5,5 and 8 respectively . Based on this, the characteristics fields in COPA were defined using the standard characteristics PAPH1 ,PAPH2 and PAPH3 . When doing this in CO-PA , SAP created domains RKEG_PAPH1 ,2 and 3 with similar length as the levels in structure PRODHS.
After this was completed , the product hierarchy structure has been changed in PRODHS to four levels with length as 4,4,4,4 respectively. As a result of that the domains RKEG_PAPH1 , 2 and 3 are not matching with the new structure and the PAPH1 to 3 characteristics in COPA have been made unusable.
To fix this  SAP help is suggesting two things:
    1)     First change the number of characters in domains/data element RKEG_PAPH1 to 3 to match the new structure in PRODHS
    2)     Find out the list of tables/structure where RKEG_PAPH1 to 3 is used and perform a data conversion.
From the where used list , we are able to see that this are used in 21 structures which are in turn used in numerous programs, structures, BAPIs etc.
We would like to know  :
    1) What is impact of doing this on numerous programs, structures, BAPIs etc ?
    2) How these data  conversion is done and what utilities are used for the same? Is it required to do this as our project is still not live? Only Dev and Quality systems now running.
    3) Potential issues that we may face?
    4) Any other alternative solution.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Prashant

    Hiya,
First impressions: Since you are not live yet, the impact is much lesser than if you were live. So thats saving grace.
I gather from your post that you either don't wish to leave these Chars as they are (ignore them and create new ones instead). Have you explored the possibility of using these for some other 5-char or 8-Char Characteristics?
The impact is massive, but restricted to BAPIs and custom programs you may have built based on these Chars. Whatever method you follow (new Chars or change these existing ones), you will still need to modify your reports to reflect the new data structures. But then, do you have an option?
You could use custom programs for data conversion, mapping your lagacy data to the new fields, or simply use Excel spreadsheets - that also depends a lot on the source of your legacy data.
Is it required? You don't data convert until your first cutover and that is mostly into a Regression Test server and then into the P server. So do you really need to bother about data conversion to the Dev or the Quality servers?
You may need to explore the possibility of deleting these Chars from the Op Co and including new ones. While this is not a recommended option, that way you can still transport only the required Chars to the P server and ignore the rest. Your Test or Quality servers will go for a toss (data mismatches etc.), but you could try and not let it affect your golden client.
Alternatives: explore the possibility of ignoring these 3 Chars and creating 4 new ones instead. That, by far, could be your best option.
    All the best.

  • Define Product Hierarchy - Maintence Product Hier

I am trying to creating 3 Levels in the Data Relevant to Sales Distribution sec
    I've created level 1's and 2
using     12345 Medical Devices level 1
                 12346 Pharma             level 1
                 123450001 Medical Devices Level 2
                  123460001 Pharma     Level 2
now how do I create level 3 as I know I can on standard settings and please explain why the above numbers create level 1 and 2
I don't know why these above sequences created level 2 etc what basically is the pattern to create level 1 to 3 using my numbers above
    help!
    thanks

You can define it as Material Group. There are Material Groups 3,4 and 5 avaialble in Sales view of the material master which can be custom defined.
Another way is to define the product hierarchy as characteristics in COPA and define Characteristic Derivation Rules.

  • Product Hierarchy Not Updating in KE30 Report

    Hi,
We are Maintaining Product Hierarchy in the Material Masters and we are using a KE30 Report from CO-PA here we are able to see all the feilds getting updated in the report except for product hierarchy. that too only when the material are belonging to WBS Stock.
Can any one help me in exploring the reason for the same
    Best Regards,

    Hi
In the absence of info, its very difficult to comment
    1. Is the new sales material code assigned to Prod Hie?
    2. During billling is the COPA doc generated? Or the revenue is posted to WBS Element?
If it is posted to COPA directly, then check point 1 above should be the reason
If it is posted to WBS, then check the settlement rule of the WBS... PSG will be the settlement receiver.... Have you mentioned Prod No in the settlement rule?

    Hello,
Product hierarchies are the domain of materials management. A product hierarchy is assigned to the material master record. This hierarchy is broken down into specific levels, each level containing its own characteristics.A product hierarchy is recorded by the sequence of digits within a hierarchy number. This hierarchy number may have a maximum of 18 digits with a maximum of 9 levels. The custom Product hierarchies can be maintained in V/76. However, for complete help on your requirement, you may post it in MM Forum.

  • Creating Product hierarchy

    Dear All
We are using COPA in our organisation. The problem I am facing in the material codification.  The material coding has been done in such a way that not all the 18 characters has not been used for the finished goods.
Some finished goods are having 12 Characters whereas some have 18 and some have 16. How can I create the product hierarchy in this scenario.
Need kind advice in this regards
    Regards
    Vasantha

    Dear All,
The product hierarchy is defined in such a way that i can create upto 3 levels. There is requirement for us to go for 5 or 6 level of reporting based on material codification. The standard structure of 5510 has to redifned as 55323. How to proceed further.
