Product Modelling Environment - Variant Configuration- modelling configura
Hello all,
I have a very important question for which I am trying to find answers. I ahve been researching for the last 2 days continuously
and now I kind of confused.
I need an answer tot his at the earliest possible
And I am struggling to differentiate between PME and product modelling in crm , is it the same?
When Ilook in this link ,it says;
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm70/helpdata/en/ed/bfb2ce6a6a46af92172c4ff901f125/frameset.htm
NOTE
This function in the WebClient user interface (UI) replaces the Product Modeling Environment (PME) application, which had to be installed separately.
What does this mean?? does this mean that modelling configurable products is different from PME?
can Product modelling be done in crm as well as ERP?
Could u please let me know
Thank you
BR

Hi Vinod,
Please find below a brief:-
A product model contains the configuration model data relevant for one product which is a server based Architecture.
-A knowledge base is a container for data and can contain many PMEs
-PME is available in Product page
-Need to insert and create a new product model and select the model and enter product related data.
-Create KB's
-Will have to define the characterstics and values and assign to class
-Product model hierarchy shows the model in tree structure.
-After you created the hierarchy with all details you can simulate the configuration as a result titile simulator pops up where you can see the status and Variants and your current selection.

Create a production order with variant configurator data
Hello,
Can anyone tell me the way to create a production order with variant configurator data. Is there a BAPI ? an IDOC ?
Is there several steps ?
I have to create an interface which creates automatically PP orders. The data input is a file.
Thanks for your helpHi,
There are fews BAPI's available for creation of Production Order. They are:
BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE
This bapi will suit to your requirement, as input will be provided from file.
Others are
BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE_FROM_PLORD " this converts planned order to production order
BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE_FROM_REF " this creats production order considering other production order as reference.
Hope your query is answered.

Using ALE to synchronize Variant Configuration data from Production to Dev
SAP Gurus,
We are trying to move away from opening our production environment every time with need to add new Variant configuration for products.
In order to do so, we need to ensure that our development and staging systems are in line with production LO-VC data. We have been looking at a possible ALE solution but I would like to get other suggestions.
Any thoughts you may have with regards to either pros and cons of ALE, or another solution we may have overlooked. If your clients are transporting Variant Configuration to production, what method are they currently using to ensure data consistency between environments.
Our landscape currently has two production environments for two separate business lines but both use LO-VC therefore we would like to standardize the process.
Thanks and Regards,
Kevin Webb
SAP SD Senior ConsultantHi Webb,
General its a complex process to transport VC but for system consistency you can:
1. do the changes Manually in each system
2. Use ALE idoc process to transport.
But ALE transport generally used for fresh VC transport, if the VC already present in transporting system, it may cause inconsistency. Hence if you want to transport some changes then I can suggest you to do MANUALLY.
But if you are transporting VC freshly in each system, go for ALE.

Production Order BOM with Variant Configurable Material
Hi,
I have a requirement to process the document items in the Production Order BOM for a variant configurable martial. I am not sure which Function Module will do this purpose. I checked the FM: CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 and does not seem to be working.
Can you please help me with a suitable Function Module or program that will process the Production Order BOM? Appreciate Your Help.
Thanks,
Kanan
Edited by: Kannan SA on Jul 6, 2011 8:59 PMWhat are you doing with the characteristics right now ?
If you want operations selected based on characteristic values, you need to have dependencies written just like you do (or in your case, will do) in your BOM components.
I understand the business-push to not do things 100% at the start and just "oh we'll add that part later" but I would really push back to get that part included initially. -
Production Order - Variant Configuration of Components
Hi experts,
I want to book a part (which is on stock with serial number and variant configuration) into a production order with movement type 261-E.
However, there I get the error message that the configuration does not match.
If I compare the configurations, one is empty - I guess the one from CO02.
How can I add the configuration to CO02-components?
Kind regardsbtw, it is a production order without a material number itself (a kind of repair order, on which we book the parts of repair).
And one of that part is a component which is serialized and having a variant configuration.
And I have to add the info, that I don't have the part in the BOM/routings. I have to add different components per production order.
Kind regards -
Details about Master production Scheduling & Variant configuration
1) What are the steps for Master Production Scheduling (MPS)?
2) What are the steps for Variant Configuration?Hi,
MPS:
With in your planning time fence (maintained in mat master ) , you will get firmed planned orders because your MRP Type P1 - P4 has firming type.
And the firmed planned orders will not change after next MRP run.
You have to set MRP Type p1 - p4. acc to firming type. in ur mat master.
Then run MPS .It is generally for important products and it is run single level.Because it will not change your procurement proposals as it has firming type.So you get effective planning for your imp products.
Variant configuration:
Go to mm01 create a material and in bd2 view mark the check box material is configurable and then save the material and go to ct04 create chara.
Go to cl01 and create class with class type 300 and assign the charac. to it
Go to tcode cu41 create the profile using material code and assign the class to it
then got tcode mm02 and assign the profile there
Variant configuration material type is KMAT (SAP std), u can use this material type alternately u can mark the indicator in basic data 2 view ->client specific configuration->Material is configurable tick.

Variant Configuration - product validation step at sales order
Hi all,
By using Variant Configuration, new products can be created at sales order entry ==> is there any way to put a validation process in place where a number of checks (by different people) should be performed before being able to save the order?
thanks
BartHi Vineet,
Thanks for your answer.
I realize dependencies can help control which characteristics value can be choosen. In the meantime my question became; how I can prevent that my sales order gets visible for the planning department (typically they would look in transaction MD04 I guess)? I will post this question under the appropriate topic.
This is the type of flow I have in mind:
customer service fills in the order, specifies the values for the characteristics, Availability check runs and the order is saved
order is saved but not confirmed so it is not transferred to planning
planning (or other department like production) checks the order and the variant. If it is ok, they will confirm the order so it gets to the planning. If not, they will get in contact with customer service.
I'm not experienced in availability check, planning, etc so I might have written big mistakes here.

Configure-to-Order (CTO) Production with Variant Configuration and Assembly
We are trying to create a Configure-to-Order (CTO) Production with Variant Configuration and Assembly Processing.
I have set up the required master data for variant configuration which is working fine in a sales order. I have used startegy group 82 in the MRP view of the material master for Finished goods/header material. A production order with BOM explosion is getting generated automatically during the creation of the sales order.I have stock of components available. Uploaded using 561 movement type (unrestricted stock). The requirement class that is being determined is 201.
ISSUE:
Availability check of the components in the production order that is getting automatically generated during sales order creation is failing. The components are not getting confirmed inspite of initialising the stock of the components in the plant we are using.
I am looking for pointers on the important settings related to the availability check in Configure to Order scenario that have to checked to resolve this issue.
TIAHi,
Availability check controls for Production order will be done in OPJK for plant , order type combination. Based on the settings either for creation or release system will carry Availability check of components. you can set the controls such that release can be possible even if parts are missing.
If you have settings to restrict the release if components are missing and there is stock in unrestricted, then you need to transfer the stock to the sales order using MB1B and 413 movement type so that system can recognize the availability and allow the release of order.
Based on your requiremnts you can map the settings in OPJK
Hope this will help

Production order costing issue in MTO with variant configuration
We have an urgent issue to be resolved in production order costing in MTO scenario.
We have two level configuration with configuration passed from parent to children. The parent has many configurable materials as child(semi finished BOM items) and BOM items of these child has again different raw materials(3 level BOM with last level being all raw materials) . The production order for parent created with reference to sales order.
While costing production order of parent, total planned price is displayed as zero as we have maintained price control std price for all configurable materials(parent & child) with zero price being configurable materials.Configurations are correct in production order material and BOM components(configurable materials). BOM item selections, Item quanties are also correct.
Sales order costing is working fine and rolled-up correctly as per costing settings. We have looked at costing configuration for production order and did not find anything unusual.
Kindly suggest possible reasons for not showing costing result in production order as per configuration copied from sales order or any possible configuration or master data likely missing ?
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards
Ganeshan KalembethDear GANESHAN KALEMB,
Kindly open production order in change mode and reschedule order, cost order, check material availability and check capacity availability.
after doing this in main menu goto > log > overview > see error list if there is any, let me know, your problem can be solved.

Difference between Variant Configuration and iPPE
Dear All,
Can anybody tell me the difference between the Variant Configuration and iPPE(Integrated Process and Product Engineering).
Thanks,
Rajesh.Hai Rajesh
The SAP standard system have the following user profiles:
S_ASTACT (Process Structure)
Part of the S_PPEALL profile; calls up a process structure as an application tree in the detail area of the iPPE Workbench Professional.
S_ASTCMP (Product Structure)
Part of the S_PPEALL profile; calls up a product structure as an application tree in the detail area of the iPPE Workbench Professional.
while creating the user profile - settings for relationship , model definition . environment , reports.
u can try using the Process and Product profile in IDES as I am exploring on iPPE.
is this iPPE scenario going to use in SAP PS or in cProjects.
ENJOY SAP PS.

Hi Sapgurus,
Could you please explain Variant Configuration steps in detail. It's little urgent. And also if you have any detailed document please send to the following mail.Points will be awarded.
with Regards,
mhreddyHi,
Pls. find the Varian Configuration step by step procedure as below :
VARIANT CONFIGURATION
1.Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
2.Create Charateristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc.
3.Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for).
4.Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
5.Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zbikeclass.
6.Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save.
7.Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save).
8.Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save.
9.Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save).
10.Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.

Variant Configuration Data download from R/3 to CRM
Hello all
It may be a very dumb question, but I would certainly appreciate an answer.
We are currently using SAP R/3 4.6c and heavily use VC for configurable products and also for pricing.
Now we wish to explore the possibility of using SAP CRM 5.0 to enable our sales force to use CRM PCUI to create quotes for configurable materials.
My questions are as following:-
1. Is it possible to download all VC related data into CRM from R/3 including pricing? I understand that for different VC object, I will have to use different CRM objects but is it possible? If the data transfer is possible, is it typically done by a middleware resource?
2. I would also like to confirm that by creating a run time version and Kbase is pre requisite to enable the download to CRM.
If you could please point me to the appropriate help on this topic, I would really appreciate it.
Best regards
JaiHi Gun,
In your message, You stated
As recommended by SAP, if we have R/3 link into our CRM
the best scenario is to get VC product from R/3 into CRM.
Is there any documentation tjhat backs this up? could you give it to me
we have a situation in our company where we have been using a home grown product that not only lets you configure product bu it also takes the user through a selling experience for example it asks the user if he is interested in buying any accessories for the product and provides options through pop messages and the user can select. this way it takes leads the user through questionnaires that comes in pop ups to select a product
we have crm service and ecc implemented and now we need to implement this feature for the crm sales piece
the question is do we go for PME or variant config that is already set up in ECC ?
the link and middle ware set up between ECC and CRM is also available so we can bring the variant configuration from ECC into crm. but how about the questionnaires and the selling experience that is available through pop up questionnaires,
we can set up the selling experience via the Product modeler but as a company we need to make a decision whether we bring the varinat configuration from ecc and use the selling experience for the pop up questionnaires that leads customer
or should we just use sales packages that behaves similarly like varinat configuration and add enahcnements to create the pop- up questionaires
Could you direct /provide some guidance in this area?
Sara
