I have a problem. In one client say 200, confirmation number for operations in an order getting created in incremental manner like
OP.10 - 54
OP.20 - 55
OP.30- 56
Other client say 300, it is generated at the time of production order creation, in decremental manner like
OP.10 - 56
OP.20 - 55
OP.30- 54
Plse guide me on this issue as i have to follow some logic to take operation confirmation level data into development report.

Check with the Number range Object: AUF_RUECK with the Transaction SNRO.
The logic is: System will follow the first come first basis to assign the Confirmation Number.

This is a widely used sceanrio in Automotive.Engine ,Chasis are tracked through equipment serial number.
Serial Number can be internal (Assigned by SAP) OR it can be external.The general convention is to follow the numeric range but you can also go for Alphanumeric code.We have used only first 2 digits as alphanumeric balance were numbers having differenet significanace like

Line
Model
Year
what you are saying can be achieved by entire numeric sequence also.
You will have to define Equipment category , serial number ranges under Plant maintenance..technical objects through SPRO.
Please aslo note in Material master you have to define Sr.no.Profile also.

Confirmation Number Calculations

I am writing an application where I would like to generate a confirmation number to give back to the end user as a means to confirm his/her transaction. Does anybody know of a good platform independant strategy for generating such a number? I would like the confirmation number to be non-sequential and 10 characters or less if possible. I would also welcome any advice on the Dos and Don'ts of confirmation number generation. Suggested reference material would also be good. Thanks for your help in advance.

How about using a pseudo-random number generator, such as the one provided in java.util.Random? For example, Random.nextInt() will return an integer, which is guaranteed to be in range: -2147483648 to 2147483647 (Integer.MIN_VALUE and Integer.MAX_VALUE). This is 10 digits, ignoring the minus sign. You could just throw away the negative ones, or subtract negative ones from ((long) Integer.MAX_VALUE), storing it in a long.
As long as you're using the int's in their entirety (not stripping bits), then you'll be guaranteed that they won't repeat until you've gone through all 2^32 possible ids. This is a property of the RNG used in Random.
The only problem I see is that when your program shuts down, how do you store the RNG's state so that you can start at the same position in the sequence? Another property of the RNG is that it always gives out the same sequence of numbers, if started with the same seed. But Random has setSeed(), but no getSeed(). Any ideas?
One possibility is to save the initial seed and keep a count of the ids you've passed out; when you restart the program, you run through all of the old ids before generating new ones. This is kind of lame, but it should work.

How to retrieve material document no. based on production confirmation no.

Hi Friends,
I am retreiving the production confirmation number(PRTNR) thru bapi BAPI_REPMANCONF_CREATE_MTS. Based on that confirmation number I need to retrieve material document number (MBLNR)
Because multiple users can post finished goods from different locations at same time, I have to complusory retrieve the material document number based on confirmation number only. Tables MKPF and MSEG doesn't have confirmation number fields in them.
I would appreciate if anyone could suggest me good ideas.

My BLPP table gets updated with material document as well as confirmation number.
When I test my FM directly, I get a confirmation number in my export. I don't get a material document number in my export parameter. But, BLPP gets updated with material document number as well as confirmation number.
But, if I debugg the FM with the same data I get the material document number as well as conf. no. populated in my export parameters.
This is what I have done:

This application is inbuit with some modules VB (cath ,cardio)and oracle forms for required sequence number generation different time used this procedure whereever required the sequence Prefix generation.If i replace the procedure sequene to oracle standard sequency if the user cannot save the form unnessary sequency generated order is missing from sequence.

FM to change Confirmation number of Production order

Hello Experts,
I have a requirement where I need to change the confirmation number ( which is already created for a production order) AFVC-RUECK. I could see that the confirmation number is not modifiable once it is created and no opition to change it by BDC. But my requirement is to change it for a production order.
1. Is there any FM or BAPI to change it?
2. Or directly changing in the database table AFVC is the only option?
3. Or is there any other method in which we can do it.

I use BAPI_PRODORDCONF_GET_TT_PROP and BAPI_PRODORDCONF_CREATE_TT for production confirmation. We are using backflush. Is there any chance to know, which batch number system assign to 101 movement?

Incomplete order are the order's in which some data is missing so that particular order can't be further processed, that is what you could check through "Incompletion Log". Whereas Open orders are the orders which are open for further processing viz. deliver billing(but open order is a complete order i.e. no data missing).

Confirmation of parallel sequence operation.

Hello friends,
I want to do confirmation of parallel sequence operation. I use 3 or5 work centers at a time for doing one operation. So i have defined parallel sequences for standard sequence. When I do confirmation of quantity and activity time in CO11N for one parallel sequence, other sequence quantity and activity time should be decreased. But system takes actual quantity and time.
How to make settings , so that quantity and activity values should be decreased automatically for next parallel sequence.

You are not able get the paralle sequence operation in CO11N because production order will copy the Routing based on the Order Type dependent paramter-OPL8-Routing set up.
Here , basically , you might have chkeced Alternative Sequence and Sequence Exchange field (0) , so while creation production order , routing with operation which are in alternative sequnce will be copied and will be used in CO11N confirmation.
2.You need to maintain "Operation Sequence is not checked " for operation sequence for the Ordertype/Plant combination in confirmation parameters using transaction OPK4.-Confirmation parameters of Order

What algorithm does Excel 2010 use for Pseudo Random Number Generation (MT19937?)

Does Excel 2010+ use the Mersenne Twister (MT19937) algorithm for Pseudo Random Number Generation (PRNG), implemented by the RAND() function?
This has been a nagging question for some time now, with "hints" that it indeed does. However, a relatively thorough search turns up no definitive documentation. The most direct indication is perhaps given by Guy Melard [Ref 9] where
he tests Excel 2010's RAND() function using the Crush battery of tests in TestU01 by L'Ecuyer & Simard. Melard references a "semi-official" indication that Microsoft did indeed implement MT19937 for the RAND() function in
Excel 2010, but this reference no longer seems to be available. http://office.microsoft.com/enus/excel-help/about-solver-HP005198368.aspx?pid=CH010004571033.
The other references below [Ref 1-10] document the history of the statistical suitability of the PRNG and probability distributions in various versions of Excel. This includes the Wichmann-Hill PRNG implementations supposedly (arguably) used in
Excel 2003 & 2007 for random number generation. But still, we have no answer as to which PRNG algorithm is used in
Excel 2010 (and 2013 for that matter).
Microsoft indicates that RAND() has been improved in Excel 2010; Microsoft states, "...and the RAND function now uses a new random number algorithm." (see https://support.office.com/en-ca/article/Whats-New-Changes-made-to-Excel-functions-355d08c8-8358-4ecb-b6eb-e2e443e98aac).
But no details are given on the actual algorithm. This is critical for Monte Carlo methods and many other applications.

This was introduced (according to the article) in Excel 2003. Perhaps the references in notes 2 and 3 might help.
The article describes combining the results of 3 generators, each similar to a Multiply With Carry (MWC) generator, but with zero carry. MWC generators do very well on the Diehard battery of randomness tests (mentioned in your references), and have
very long periods. But using zero carry makes no sense to me.
Combining the three generators only helps if the periods of the 3 are relatively prime (despite what the article implies). Then the period of the result will be the product of the 3 periods. But without knowing the theory behind these generators, I have
no idea what the periods would be. The formulas for MWC generators fail here.

How to create custom employee numbering Based on the User Person Type?

We Need to give two different numbering schemes for each person type.

Serial number generation

Hi friends,
I have a question regarding the serial number generation.
1. In serial number generation do we have option of generating either when creating and releasing the production order or when doing the GR for the production order.
If yes, please let me know how we can do that.
2. If we have the serial number activiated for the material can we use auto goods receipt for the material?

Dear Satish,
Go to OIS2 and create the serial number profile which will be later assigned to the material master.
Select the serial number profile and select serializing procedure
Here,select "PPAU Serial numbers in PP order" and enter the value as desired in serial number usage column.
Similarly you can try for order release.
We cannot activate auto GR for the items with serial numbers.

Where can I found the Production Order Confirmation number? For example I created a prod. order and released it. During the confirmation at operational level using the transaction CO11N, I can give order and operation number. At the same time I can also give the confirmation number. My question is before confirmation, where can I found the confirmation number in the order. So that I can do the confirmation with confirmation number...instead of order number.

A confirmation documents the processing status of orders, operations, suboperations and individual capacities.
You can enter a confirmation
- For an Opeartion (co11/co11n)
You have the following options:
- To confirm quantities, durations, activities or personnel data.
- To make a confirmation at a particular point in time (for example, at the start of setup or the finish of processing) enter a
confirmation.
- When you confirm time events, the system calculates the required duration. For example, the setup duration is the time between setup start and setup finish.
- For an Order : CO15
If you enter a confirmation at order header level, the system confirms all the operations that have a control key in which
confirmation is optional or necessary. The quantitiesconfirmed in the operations are proportional to the quantities confirmed in the order header.

Confirmation number reaches maximum number

In my client production system, we are getting close to the limit in terms of QM Confirmation Number for Inspection Characteristic (table QAMV-RUECKMELNR).
We have standard SAP number range configuration 1 - 99,999,999 for object QMERKRUECK and actual number is <10%
To resolve the isse, we are planning to archive old inspection lots.
But my question is how the confirmation number behaves after archiving a set of inspection lots, we may face the situation where the confirmation number holds two inpsection lots ( one is archived & other is new)?
What will happen when the system start number with 1 and we would have duplicated numbers in table QAMV.
Please advise with details steps for archiving inspection lots and how the confirmation number reset to 1 and its consequences etc.,

You are saying to create new number range for inspection lots ( QCC3 ) and assign origin & type, please calrify if I am wrong. Please find my exact issue and help to fix...
In my production system.....
QMERKRUECK range is...
00000001 to 99999999 and the current number is already 91245679
and QLOSE intervals are below..
000000000001 to 009999999999
040000000000 to 049999999999
070000000000 to 079999999999
and the flag for 'No interval rolling ' is NOT checked, so the number range will be automatically resets to 1, once reaches to the upper limit
Issue : Warning message ' Internal number assignment for object QMERKRUECK (numbers are in critical area)" is showing while creating inspection lots using QA01.
What could be the best solution to fix this?
1. Archive old inspection lots ( on specific criteria ) ? Later, once the confirmation numbers reaches to 99999999, it will reset to 1. In this case...do we get the situation where the confirmation number holds both archived inspection lot and active ( newly created) inspection lot ? Do we have any business impacts?
2. How creating new nuber ranges for inspection lots fix the confirmation number range issue? Please clarify if I am missing anything.

Customer number generation

Oracle Gurus,
Customer creation number generation as Automatic, where we are doing this setup in applications.
For supplier we give the setup in Financial options but I am not able to trace out for customer automatic number generation.
If anyone know the setups, please let me know the steps and setups.
Please advise.

Hi Satish,
Set the sequence number
Pl. go thru following navaigation path :
Go to Application Developer responsibility >Menu > Application> Database > Sequence
Query on sequence RA_CUSTOMERS_NUM_S and set Start Value to 20000 .
Retest it.
