Profile for children, lock, password

Dear all,
does anyone know how to setup two or more profiles on the iPad?
For instance one you use (Business), one for the family (Fun), one for the small child etc.
How to "protect" those?
Password? Gesture? ...
Is there a feature already? Or does anyone using the iPad always have access to all apps etc.?

Sorry, no profiles on the iPad. Everyone who picks it up will have access to the apps.
I have suggested to them via their feedback page to consider adding a feature like that to the next software release (4.0). 4.0 includes a folder feature where you can group applications, and I also suggested that they allow the creation of a "locked" folder which requires a pin# to access. That would allow someone to put sensitive apps in a protected area. But I don't know if they'll add something like that.

You may need to connect the iPod in Recovery Mode and then restore it via iTunes. See this article for instructions on getting your iPod into Recovery Mode.;

Stuck "Profile for everyone" with password

Hi there,
I have one user who have an old "Profile for Everyone" on his MacBook.
I'm not able to remove the the profile, because it has "PayloadRemovalDisallowed"
by password set, and the pwd is not known anymore (the admin has left)... *Grmpfh*
Are there any ways to remove it?

The only Monitor profile you should ever use is a device-specific one created for your particular monitor.
If you have not calibrated and profiled your monitor, thereby creating a monitor profile in the process, used the canned one provided by the manufacturer of youor monitor.

Hard reset Nokia N97 without knowing lock password

I received this phone from our inventory at work. I am not sure who used it before me. But, I do not know the lock pass code. How can I hard reset it without knowing the lock password. Everything I try, I am prompted for the lock password except one attempt. I held in the up arrow, shift key and back arrow while powering on. This did some type of reset. But, the lock password still is not 12345.
So, either the lock password for Nokia N97 is not 12345 by default, or this is not a true hard reset?
Any ideas?

You could try changing the sim, it may be a sim lock code and not a phone lock code, I have my sim locked but if I change for spare sim the phone doesn't require a code it just starts ! Worth a try ?

Log in to your account, and move all your files to your home folder. No other users should be able to access them there and they won't show up with a Spotlight search.
Make sure your kids' account(s) do not have admin privileges.

Profile parameter for to change password

Hello everyone.
Is there any profile parameter to change the password after certain number of days say 30 days. I see there are profile parameters for lenght , uppercase, lowecase but is there one to change the password after a given period of time.

It depends ... you may decide this by discussing with BASIS team and as per your Company SOP. I prefer Default profile. But never use Instance profile.

Screen lock options disabled except for pin and password - Bionic)

Before upgrading, I was using the pattern-lock as my screen lock option. After the ICS upgrade was complete, the pattern lock option was still active and working as I would expect. But when I went into the Lock options tab, the other options were disabled and greyed out, except for pin and password options. I selected pin just to see what would happen, and when I went back pattern lock was now greyed out. My only two enabled options right now are pin and password. How do you fix this??

This is very peculiar! Let's figure it out. I want you to be able to access your phone as easily as possible.
What Ann154 suggested is very possible. You may have something blocking you from using any other type of screen unlock option.
Other than that, I might recommend closing out all applications and restarting the phone. Then please set your setting for the lock screen to none and try and switch back. Also, you don't have any type of third party user interface installed or recently installed any applications, correct? If so, I might recommend uninstalling them.

I think the password it asked is the one that you used to encrypt iPhone backup.

Error: Lock profile for approval procedure not maintained in Customizing

We are working on the CHARM approval process. I have noticed that without selecting an approval procedure, I select the status (Awaiting business approval) on which the approval workflow is triggered, the system gives below error:

Lock profile for approval procedure not maintained in Customizing
Approval procedure and approval steps are locked automatically
This locks the approval procedure and the RFC can no longer be processed further. Why is that happening ? Anyone can select the status by mistake and lose the RFC, is there a way to stop this or at least reset it ? the lock procedure is already maintained in approval procedure customizing.

Thanks for the quick reply, however the settings mentioned on page 38 are already in place i.e. the approval procedure gets determined correctly based on change category (rule policy) and also is locked after putting it to 'Awaiting Approval'
But the problem exists - setting the status 'Awaiting App.' without selecting app.proc, will result in a total lock of the RFC.

You can't create different profiles or user accounts on the iPad. It was not designed that way. It was designed as a single user device - no matter what you see in the TV commercials.
You can use passcode lock the iPad, you can set up restrictions in order to prevent purchasing of apps, prevent changing mail accounts, dsiable using FaceTime, using Safari and you can age restrict some content as well in the restrictions.

You will most probably have to force your iPad into Recovery Mode to remove passcode.
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.
