Program forced to shut down

I have developed an application with LabWindows\CVI 2012. The program is running on laptop with XP. I am communicating with some devices on GPIB. One of the devices is a Agilent 3458a. On one computer I get a dialog which forces me to shut the program down. It happens intermittently. Sometimes it happens in a hour or two and sometimes the program will run overnite. It happens when I am communicating with the Agilent 3458a. I send it a command to start a current measurement and when I try and read the data it gets a error which says it could not collect the data. I also get a dialog that says:
nrdim_ana_cal.exe (Release X86 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you are in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
For more information about this error. click here.
When I click here I get a bunch of information that looked like the old blue screen of death. It tells me what dlls are running and then has a memory dump.
It also has a Debug button but when I push it I do not get any information from it. The dialog has a CVI logo in the top right-hand corner  which makes me think it is something sent by some LabWindows dll.
Has any one seen anything like this? How can I derive any information from the click here memory dump?
I have an old Dell 610 laptop that never has this problem. The laptop I am having problems is a bit newer; it is a Dell Presario M4300.  We have tried it on other computers that were newer then the Dell 610 and they have similar problems.
Looking for a little help from someone who has had a similar experience or knows something about this program shutdown dialog.
The problem happens so randomly and infrequently it is hard to troubleshoot, any advice is appreciated.
thanks,
Don Pearce

Please see all your pointers and other dynamic memory handling.
Also increase program stack from "option -> build option -> maximum stack size" from CVI menu bar as per memory(in bytes) you are using in program and in communication.
May this will help you.

  • Macbook Pro w/ retina freezes at least once a day, and I'm forced to shut down computer. What could be wrong?

I've had this macbook since August of last year, so it is still relatively new. For about a month the 'beach ball of death' has frozen my computer at least a couple times a week, which then I am forced to shut down the computer. What could be a reason for the constant freezing??

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report—it will be very long and not helpful.

  • Ipod touch got wet and froze on the battery symbol. I forced a shut down and wasnt responsive.  tried turning it on and it wouldnt. Later on white screen appeared followed by the apple logo

i spilled a pop on my ipod and it froze up. the screen was loced on the battery symbol sign and i forced a shut down.  It tunred off and wont turn on.  Later a white screen popped up and after the apple logo popped up and dissapeared. I have tried to connect it to my computer and it said that the iphone(itunes read it as such) was in recovery mode. How do I get this thing to work again?

Leave the iPod off and place it in a container with dry rice to absorb moisture. Let it thoroughly dry.
Realistically, the chances of it working correctly again are slim, especially if the pop was sugared.

You may have a problem with the video chip.
    Here is how to tell...
Shutdown your machine.  Hold down the shift key.  Poweron.  Bootup will be longer.
Wait awhile while you harddrive is being checked.

    Runs OK in safe mode...
Running in Safe mode leaves out some video drivers.  Which results in your machine not using advanced video hardware. As luck would have it, you can run the safe mode video drivers in normal mode.

I just updated to OS X 10.8 and everything works good except those actions like "about this mac", "force quit", "shut down" not working (from apple logo left upper corner). There is no response at all after clicking on those actions. Anyone has the same issue?

You are not alone! I have been trying to find a work around since I updated to 10.8.
the only way to reboot my system is by cold booting.
    cmd-alt-esc doesn't work
    restart/shutdown/switch user doesn't respond
I'm going to try and reinstall 10.8. If that doesn't work, I'm going back to Lion until this is resolved

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your hard disk is damaged. Make a backup of your files with Time Machine > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427 Alternatively, you can use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a clone onto an external disk.
Then, look for a hard drive. You can use a 2'5" SATA hard drive, and you can buy it at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ Seagate and HGST drives have good performance, and 7200 rpm hard drives will give you a slightly better performance.
After installing it, start up from the clone (if you made a clone) or hold Command, Option and R keys while your Mac is starting (if you created a backup). In the second case, you just have to choose the option to restore a Time Machine backup and follow the steps.
In the case of a clone, use Disk Utility's Restore feature to restore the external drive content onto the internal disk > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU7.html You may need to format the hard drive in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"

  • Running a Java Program for every shut down of system

    Hi
I have a java program that sends an email to the Admin of my network.
But this is program i just want to execute for every shutdown and on of my system
Please Tell me how to execute my java program at system shutdown time and on time..
    Thanks

Despite your objective, this is not a Java issue. The real question is "How does one run a program just before system shutdown?"
How you execute such an application is system dependent. Java doesn't know when the system shuts down, only when the JVM shuts down. Unless you're willing to have JVM running the entire time the system is up, you'll need native code to detect system shutdown & launch the notification app.

  • Why Does My MacBook Pro Keep forcing a shut down?

Whenever I shut down my macbook pro MANUALLY it waits a little and then brings up the "you must restart your computer" screen (the one in diff languages). How do I stop this? Is this hurting my computer?
I have 2 external hardrrives (one FW), an Mbox, and mobile mouse connected at all times.

Backing up should not be a problem. Has your computer had a knock recently? I'm just wondering if a RAM module may be slightly unseated. You can google YouTube videos on resetting it, you also may need to to search these forums to reset PRAM and SMC.
    Good luck
