Proper Way to Post a Web Template to the Intranet.

Is there a more structured way of posting a report to the intranet, other than just copying and pasting the link to your intranet page.

Depends on what system your intranet is run on. If it's SAP EP you can import the iview file. In case IBM Web Sphere Portal server the BW report can be imported as a portlet which will be rendered as any other portlet.

About web templates inside the portal

Hi !
I need your help because I would like to do something and I cant do it, even after reading a lot of documentation.
I would like to display my lovely web templates (made with the Web Application Designer) inside the portal, through the BI > Bex Web Analyzer. But there, I can only open queries, views and infoproviders.
Is there an easy way to display my web templates in the portal ?

Hi Cedric,
The setting of web templates for BEX is available in BI.
You can check IMG setting in the SPRO transaction, setting up the BEX templates.
There you can define the tchnical name of the template.
After the changes been done, remember to restart the ABAP stack.

Is There A Way To Regenerate Web Templates In The WAD?

I have changed certain web item parameters and saved the changes. When I execute the template the saved changes are not reflected. By that I mean the template reflects the changes but if I delete something like a container, I am receiving a dump with reference to the recently deleted container.
It appears to be that the changes made are not being updated and recognized immediatly from the time of the change to the execution of the template, almost as if a previous version is being called.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Keith : Did you try updating your Web templates using the ABAP RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN*
Use the RS_Template_maintain_70 for BI 7.0 Web templates and the RS_TEMPLATE_maintain for BW 3.5
Also I find it much easier to maintain it here instead of WAD which takes up a lot of memory and dumps ocassionally.

Custom Web template for the "online link" UI command

We are trying to use a specific custom web template to allow personlization of reports within the Portal BI tool using the online link UI command. After users have broadcasted their reports to their BIuserhome directory there is an online link UI command associated to the saved report.
Our one option would be to configure the web template as the default within the IMG. But when we configured a default within the IMG, personalization of the report is not available with the context menu of the report. We are broadcasting the reports to the BIuserhome directory. Once the reports are saved users have the ability access the report using the online link UI command. Since we lose personalization when we configure the IMG with a default web template, we want use a custom web template when we execute the online link UI command.
Is there a way to pass a web template parameter when we execute the online link UI command?

Caching web templates using the portal cache - experiences

Hi,
To improve performance, I would like to cache a (7.0) web template in the portal. I adjusted the iView by changing the following fields:
Cache Level to shared
Cache Validity Period to 1 hour
However, the template still takes 10 seconds to load, the same time as before.
The template doesn't have a variable screen that is shown (all variables are optional), so according to note 1002778 'Caching in the Enterprise Portal' there doesn't seem te be a problem.
Do you have suggestions why it doesn't work, and if there steps I could perform to make it working?

Finally SAP OSS has answered me on portal caching in BI 7.0. From their reaction:
"In the new Portal infrastructure in NetWeaver 7.0 the iView properties
for iView portal caching are not evaluated by BI as it was in BW 3.5.
In 3.5 portal infrastructure this feature had special implementation
which was evaluated as not situable for the NW 7.0 infrastructure.
The iView properties are visible, even if they do not fit to BI
iViews as we do not have the possiblity to switch off this visibility
for some types of iViews.
Nevertheless, some parts like Web Templates, Web Items are stored
in the cache on Java Server and are reused when the same Template
is loaded again.
So in 7.0 we do not have functionality like in 3.x for storing of
the generrated HTML. As of my knowladge, there is no workaround for
that (besides what you have mentioned."
So we'll have to wait for the BO stuff, which has pretty good pre-calculations options which can serve as cache.

Hiding bloc of Lines in a web template in the last row

Hello,
I want to hide a bloc of lines in a web query.
Here I use the table interface with the method
characteristic cell according to the "How to" - paper
(How to hide a column).
Normally , there is no problem to set the tag
'' in the first column of the row, I want to display again.
But the problem is the last row. Here I must close the
tag in the last column of the last row. The effect is
something like a double line at the end of the output.
(I think, I see here another time the first column of
a row, because I cannot close the tag properly)
As a result, I have problems with the print manager, we use to enhance the web printing.
Can someone give me the information, how to close the tag
in a proper way at the last row.

Hi,
I don't think this is possible. I would try to use c_cell_extend to extend the style of each <td>-Tag with style="visibility:hidden; display:none" This should have the same affect (for all cells which have to be hidden) (depending on your table styles there might be some padding or spacing effects; you have to try this out).

Hi,
You mean you want to execute the template even after this design time error. If yes then you can simply go to the backend and Transaction "SE38" then in the next screen type "RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70" and then in the next screen type your template name ans then press "Execute" button to see temlate in Java Web.

Problem With the Web Template in the QA when moved from DEV

Hi SAP gurus,
I am Working in BI 7.0 SP16 . Actually I had Designed and Published a web template which generates graphs in the Portal.
In WAD
In the chart options, for X-axis, for the text direction i have changed to Diagonal UP and font for the text is "Arial" and style is "bold".
when I execute the Web template in Development System all the queries , graph and font is working fyn.....but when I transported to the QA system
the problem is:
When I executed the Web template in QA , the graph is generating fyn and the queries r running fyn but the font changed to "Times New Roman " , the direction of the text is "Horizontal" and the style is "Normal"
and when i checked the chart options in QA i can see all the options are right i.e what i had given in the development system the text direction " Diagonal UP" and font for the text is "Arial" and style is "bold".
this was the frst graph that i was generated in the WAD in DEV moved to QA.......so wat could be the problem.....Is there any problem vith the configuration issue in the portal side in QA or any connection problem in the portal?
can any one help me to solve this issue?

when u want to edit the chart-> rgt click on the chart and select the edit option
-> it vill take to the other window
-> at the bottom of the chart there is a button refine.click that button.it vill take to the others options for the chart.
->click the category axis(X-axis) or to the right of the chart, u can c the chart options,go to the category axis ,expand the categoryaxis option.
-> under the category option, there vill be four options Line, Grid line,Title and Unit.
-> Select the Line option,at the bottom of that window, u can c the option for the Line.
-> go to the text properties, u can change the text wat u want.

Variants of web templates in the portal

We launch our BI web templates via iViews in the portal. Some users
have saved their personal variants in the portal, but after the version
of the web template has changed, they do not access their variants any
more.
Are the variants in the portal linked to the version of the web
template ? How is it possible to retrieve the variants ?

Logon to the BI system and go to transaction SE37 and execute RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET to get the portnumber, try applying this and test your iview again.
If this does not resolve the issue I suggest you to refer to SAP Note 937697 - Usage of SAP NetWeaver BI Diagnostics & Support Desk Tool, it is a pretty simple tool and helps in resolving most issues with regards to BI Portal integration.

Can I run a 3.5 web template in the Portal

I need to use the BW 3.5 Table Interface so that I can insert a character in a column. The character I insert needs to be determined dynamically based on the data returned in the query. In BI 7.0, the Table Interface functionality is obsolete. Since I know I can do this in BW 3.5, I need to know if I can run a BW 3.5 web report in the Portal.

What is the proper way to deploy a Web application, that was developed in Visual Age for Java Professional edition 4.0 IDE, to iPlanets Web server Enterprise edition 6.0?

Oh man it looks like a problem with the web server.
Its an error that happens on SAP, even my dad reported an error like this to me but i wasn't able to solve it.

Serial letter Templates from the Intranet

By now our customer has its serial letter Templates (Word) on a volume in LAN.
Since this volume will be deinstalled, the customer wants to store these templates in Intranet in the future (on some sharepoint volume).
By now (SAP R/3 Release 4.7) this does not work. The word files cannot be opened.
Is the reason for this that there has to be installed another GUI or does the problem go deeper?
Technically spoken:
I debugged the problem down to a method
cl_gui_frontend_services=>DIRECTORY_LIST_FILE
In there an attribute www_active is tested. Since it is not set by now, a further access to the internet location is not possible.
I am not sure, if I am in the correct forum. If so: what other forum would you suggest to be better for this theme?

BI Web Template Caching on EP server

Hello,
We are developing BI web templates in the BI Web Application Designer and then previewing (via publishing) them with the EP web server. When we make a change to the report/template and republish/preview it to the EP server, the old version remains in the EP web server cache.
Also to note, this is PRIOR to creating BI iviews and incorporating them in EP, so our assumption is that the cache settings in EP iviews do not apply in this case, but that it a broader issue with the EP web server or application itself.
So far, we have tried clearing the overall PCD EP cache under sys admin support section and that does not work. The only way to get the latest content to show up via preview/republish is to restart the EP instance which clears the cache.
Is there any other place cache can be cleared or a setting that will allow the BI previewer and ALL content (i.e. iviews as well) to ALWAYS get the latest and greatest version??

cpl of questions are you on a federated network or are you using any proxy to access the portal? usually it will be slightly delayed some times based on the proxy cache. how are you adding the reports to role through delta link or copy?
When using the portal cache, data updates can appear with a delay.

Web Templates shortcut Not working in SAP Browser screen

Hello All,
I am facing a diffrent issue with Business Explorer Browser 3.x.
When I try to open shortcuts which is for (Web templates) created in Business Explorer Brower 3.x they are not working properly.
The addres stored for this web templates misses the server address in between.
All the web templates were working fine before Support Pack upgrade. We recently has upgraded to SAP BW 7.02 support pack 7.
I am not sure if this is support pack upgrade issue. Would like to know if someone faced same issue and how did they fixed it. is there any way to modify those address on PROD directly.

We also faced the similar issue and I contacted my basis team they have done some configuration in tables related to basis and then my web templates started working fine. I guess this is general issue which occurs after upgrade.
I don't know the exact solution but you can check with your basis team.

Transaction for checking rights of objects in the web template

I have the problem with some objects when I open the web template in the browser. I see yellow triangles and description "You haven't right for access to object MyObject". And so on. I don't know where can I check which rights I need for the template (like su53)?

Ok. I had added rights for transactions SU53 and RSRT for debugging. Then go to RSRT and open your report. If you haven't got some grantes you can see it on a result screen and SU53. No other ways are exists (OSS 1070694). I hope it'll be useful for you.
