Protect iTunes playlist, warning dialogue box?

Hello, I remember a long time ago when I got my iPod, I was deleting playlists and got a warning dialogue box saying "Do you wish to delete this playlist?" and I clicked on the little checkmark on the bottom that said "Do not show this again" and then clicked okay. I looked thru iTunes preferences, and I can't seem to find anything online (tried many different phrases, no help), so maybe someone will know about this.
If someone could please help me to again display the warning dialogue box that says "would you like to delete this playlist?" (instead of me or some other user ACCIDENTALLY deleting a playlist not realizing it. [without getting some sort of warning] This would be really frustrating as they are something I have put a lot of work into. (Of course, accidents always tend to happen at the worst possible time)

I don't remember that particular warning. However, the only way to get the warnings back is to delete your iTunes preferences. Look for something like com.apple.itunes.plist. Remember, once you do that, you'll have to reset all of your prefs, including preferred import mode, etc.

• ITunes Setup Assistant Warning Dialogue Box

I upgraded to version 6.0.4.2 and now a dialogue box appears each time I start iTunes.
It is titled "iTunes Setup Assistant" and has the following text: Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.
It does go away when I click on the Ok button and I can import and burn songs so it seems be just a nuisance. How do I get rid of it permanently?

hi HaryCary!
Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.
for some advanced techniques for dealing with that error message, see:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters
but if you'd prefer to try some quicker and dirtier techniques, you could:
(1) reboot and repair
reboot the PC (very important!) and do a repair install of itunes. go to your add/remove programs control panel, select itunes, click "change/remove" and then select "repair".
if no joy with that:
(2) download and install the GEAR drivers itunes uses for burning and importing
GEAR drivers
use the first link on that page, not the one that talks about "gearsec compatibility". if you have Norton Ghost on your PC, read the instructions very carefully. if you still run into trouble with Ghost after the driver install, see:
Message: "Insert the "Norton Ghost 10.0" disk and click OK." after installing iTunes 6

• Removing the "Security Warning" dialogue box on default when a PDF is opened

Hey
I have created a pdf document with a specific data written using iText Libraries. I have actually created a beacon that generates a notification sent to the owner's email when the pdf is opened.
The code is under OpenAction. The problem I am facing is that as I open the document, a dialogue box is opened saying "Security Warning" The document is trying to connect to : URL. How do I get rid of this dialogue box. ? I don't want this dialogue box to appear and allow the connection by default. I have tried playing with the Trust Manager - but that doesn't seem to be the solution, as am trying to execute my PDF document at a remote machine.

There was a lot of media fuss years back when it was found out that PDF files could "phone home", i.e. do what you want to do. So Adobe put this warning in. It wouldn't be much good as a warning if the creator of a PDF could choose to turn it off!
Document creators like to track people opening documents. Privacy advocates consider this a breach of privacy. The latter group shouts louder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoning_home

• When closing multiple tabs, is there any way to get back the option of saving those tabs OR NOT for your next session, within the warning dialogue box itself?

For brief period of time, not in FF4, there was the option whereby when I closed multiple tabs, a firefox dialogue box opened warning me that I'm about to close multiple tabs, '''AND ALSO''' asking me if wanted to save those tabs for my next session, or trash them.
The primary issue IS NOT about saving tabs. The primary question here is about getting THE OPTION back to the CLOSING MULTIPLE TABS WARNING DIALOGUE.
The use case here should be obvious. However, since it is clearly not obvious that different people work in a variety of ways, and neither of those methods of working is "wrong" or "right" I will elaborate: Some people, for whatever reason, it doesn't matter why, want to save all their tabs on some occasions, and on other occasions don't.
This preference varies throughout the day. Therefore it is inefficient to constantly go to preferences and change whether or not I want firefox to open all my tabs from my last session. It is more LOGICAL to place an option in the multiple tab warning dialogue as well, for people whose preference constantly changes.
This option was available for a time in most of the Firefox 3 versions. Is there any way to get back this option in Firefox 4?

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no need for asking if you want to save the current session.
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle the value with a double left-click.

• IPhone- iTunes App Transfer dialogue box

Hello,
I think I mistakenly pressed "Do not show this again" and "Don't Transfer" when iTunes displayed the "iTunes has found purchased items on the iPhone..." dialogue box shown here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1977
I can transfer the apps manually by clicking File -> Transfer purchases in iTunes, but I'd really like to reset the "Do not show this again" so the dialogue box does pop up again.
Any ideas how to do this?
Many thanks
Tom

Hi, I did the same without realising.
Thanks for pointing out the App menu transfer - I hadn't seen that.
I'd also like to reset this.
David.

• Command S works inconsistently and displays no warning dialogue box when closing

I am having a very strange issue with Photoshop CS6 - OSX 10.7 and 10.8 (recently upgraded).
I havent been able to figure out how to reproduce this bug though it happens all the time every day while i work.
I work on a file maybe for 10 minutes to 1 hour and when I save a file with command s photoshop does nothing. it will not save until i make any change that registers in the history and then it does save.
Even weirder photohop will close the file as though it had been saved giving no warning box with the "file has been changed, would you like to save?" message.
This has lead to me constantly saving things and double checking if files are saved, it has also lead to me missing a file from time to time and having to redo hour of work. This is a huge and odd issue for me.
The issue started happening when I recently reformatted and reinstalled all my software.
Has anyone ever encountered this issue? Do i have some strange combo of settings on that make this happen? I am at a loss and maybe a little blind to the real issue.
Thanks

any chance maybe Photoshop was in the middle of an auto-save when you initated the save. Have you tried leaving it alone for a while after pressing command-S and see if it ultimately saves?
I don't know whether an auto-save can get in the way of a real save - maybe not. In my case I've never seen what you're describing, and I have auto-save set for every 5 minutes.

• How do I get to the bottom of a dialogue box that isn't visible? Critical Mail problem!

I tried sending an email to a long list of recipients in a group. For some reason, I got a werid dialogue box about how it my SMTP server didn't recognize some addresses (though they all seem fine). No big deal, normally I would just edit the message and fix/delete the offending email addresses. However, the bottom of the warning dialogue is off screen and I can't scroll down. All I can do is hit "enter" and try to resend. But then I get a repeat.
The message in question is not seen in either my Outgoing, Sent, or Drafts folders. At least not when the dialogue box is open. So I can't just kill the message.
I also can't quit Mail while this message is up. I can go to the Finder and force quit. But then if I restart Mail the dialogue box pops right back up and I'm stuck where I was before.
Basically, I just need to know how to get to the bottom of the warning dialogue box so that I can click on the "edit message" button.
Help?!
Oh, I'm running the most updated version of OS X Lion.

I did that twice. Once, about an hour ago. And nothing changed. I did it again about twenty minutes ago, and still nothing. A few minutes ago I tried yet another force quit. And .... that seemed to do the trick. The offending email message is gone.
So my problem seems to be solved.
But the larger issue remains of a major bug in Mac OS, it seems. If a dialogue box is larger than the screen size, how is someone ever going to be able to deal with closing it or anything else? It would make sense to automatically allow the cursor to scroll down to the very bottom of any dialogue box, regardless of its size. After all, that's how windows work, right?
Crazy!

• MobileMe warning dialogue will not disappear

When I launch Aperture, I get the warning dialogue box - "MobileMe has been discontinued. Aperture will move albums you have published to MobileMe Gallery into the Albums section of your library to preserve them".
However, neither the "Learn More" nor the "OK" buttons work, and the dialogue box is just stuck there, preventing me from using Aperture.
I removed all my albums from MobileMe Gallery directly, some time ago.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this message?

Force quit Aperture;
and when you relaunch it, press the "Learn more" button first. Dismiss the webpage that you'll see.
If this does not give you access to Aperture, disconnect from the internet before you lauch Aperture (turn off Wi-fi or disconnect the ethernet cable)
Then open the Aperture Preferences > Web pane and delete the MobileMe account.
Then open the System Preferences > Mobile Me pane and sign out of MobileMe (press the "sign out" button.
Good luck

• When importing a CD, the CD Lookup Results dialogue box came up and I choose the wrong CD title. Now iTunes is importing a different song list than the one on my CD. How can I retrieve the CD Lookup Results to choose the correct title?

When importing a CD, the "CD Lookup Results" dialogue box came up and I choose the wrong CD title. Now iTunes is wanting to import a different song list than the one on my CD. I've shut down my computer and opened iTunes from the hard drive Program Files and tried to import the CD again with the same problem. How can I retrieve the "CD Looup Results" diaglogue box to choose the correct CD title to fit the song list on my original CD?

You might also be able to do it without importing the songs again I think. Just highlight the tracks, right click them and choose "Get Track Names". This feature only works on CDs that were imported via iTunes.

When you move to Portugal (very nice, I've just come back from visiting Cascais/Sintra/Sines ) I think you'll just get re-directed to Portuguese iTunes. When I moved to France from the UK I got re-directed to the French store.
To view UK programmes in France I used to subscribe to a VPN server through https://www.my-private-network.co.uk/ (there are others, but very pleased with their service). The catch-up channels (iPlayer, etc) think you're in the UK so you can watch the programmes online. Wouldn't work with iTunes UK store though .
