Protocol Confusion

Hi guys
Sorry to cross post but getting no answers from JDBC forum
Getting Java.sql.SQLException: [Jturbo 3.0.2 JDBC 1.2 Driver]: Protocol confusion. Got a 117 or 0x75 packet. Perused the forums for similar problem but only had 2 hits with no definative answer. Anyone had this before? Obviously using JTurbo JDBC Driver. Exception occurs when calling executeQuery on a callable statement. System has been running without this exception for months so bit confused. Any help would be appreciated as I'm truly stumped.

Still haven't found a solution to this...HELP ME!!

  • Protocol Confusion of freeTDS jdbc driver, please help!

I use freeTDS jdbc driver to connect to MS SQL 2000. In my programme, firstly I need to select sth out, and base on this update the other field in the same table. TOC will like that
    Statement stmt1 = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs1 = stmt1.executeQuery("select sth from table");
    stmt1.executeUpdate("update table set field1 = 'xxx'");
exception throw: java.sql.SQLException: Protocol confusion. Got a 0x79 packet
I checked from the source of TDS driver, this exception throws when the sql query output is not a resultset.
These 2 querys are prefectly okay individually, I tried to reverse the order, doesn't work neither. Even I disconnect the DB Connection and reconnect it before running the 2nd query, it won't help.
    Please help!

I haven't used freetds, but seems like defaul version is 5.0. Try it with 7.0 and see it works better. By the way, JDBC driver's readme says that it was only tested with MSSQL 6.5 and 7.0.
    ---- FAQ from freetds.org ----
Do I need to configure anything?
When you untar the package you will need to run:
    $ ./configure
You also have the following options you can add to the configure statement:
    --with-tdsver=VERSION
specify the TDS version to use
    (4.2, 4.6, 5.0, or 7.0) [default is 5.0].
    --enable-msdblib
enable Microsoft APIs and behaviour for DBLib
    --enable-dbmfix
rename dbopen() to tdsdbopen() as a work around for dbm name conflict
    --with-gnu-ld
assume the C compiler uses GNU ld [default=no]
    --enable-shared
    build shared libraries [default=yes]
    --enable-static
    build static libraries [default=yes]
IMPORTANT You must build with TDS version 4.2 to access a MSSQL server or Sybase prior to 10.0! TDS 7.0 may also be used to talk to MS SQL 7 and above.

  • Ovi Suite + 5230 USB not working

    Preamble:
I recently connected my Nokia 5230 mobile phone to my PC via USB connection and loaded up Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23). Everything worked lovely. But alas! Both an Ovi suite update was available, as well as a update for the phone itself! So I downloaded the latest version of Ovi Suite (3.0.0.284).
Unfortunately, now Ovi Suite does not detect when I select "PC Suite" USB mode (selected on the phone screen). This essentially makes Ovi Suite useless.
So I followed some advice on other discussion pages (more on that later) and reinstalled the Ovi Suite. The problem persisted.
Here are some pictures to help you understand my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/5IknF.jpg
The computer is able detect the phone is connected via USB. I can even browse the contents of the phone memory and memory card. Upon detecting the connected phone, and me pressing 'PC Suite' on the phone screen, it will show this:
    http://i.imgur.com/lV0rs.jpg
I cannot progress past this screen. The Ovi Suite simply does not recognise that I've selected that option on the phone.
    Defense:
I know what your thinking. "Just another USB thread". Well, I did in fact read plenty of threads on this forum before posting, and have spent the last few hours uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and drivers in various ways (as suggested in those threads), with no success.
The following is a list of forum threads which I have read and tried all the solutions found in each, and I have copied the solutions (which appear to have worked for other people), for your convenience:

Solutions which did not work for me:
Could you please follow these steps and check?
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    1. Uninstall all nokia related applications like Ovisuite, pc suite, connectivity cable driver,pc connectivity solutions, nokia software updater etc. from ur PC.
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Now download and install the recent ovisuite from http://www.ovi.com/suite
    4. After installation, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
    5. After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.

Solution which did not work for me:
    Hi GannonC,
Uninstall the following Programs, if any, from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.
    http://www.ovi.com/suite
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
After connecting you can go ahead and update your maps/ download new country maps.
NOTE: before updating your maps/ download new country maps, you should have used your maps in you mobile atleast once.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
You can connect back your internet anytime after the drivers installation.

Choose Nokia Nokia Cable Connectivity then Change and repair
Do the same for PC Connectivity Solution - Change then repair

After re-starting the computer, I also followed this portion of a suggestion from another post (don't know if it made a difference or not):
"connected the device, waited till all the drivers were loaded.
    Then launched Ovi suite"
     (From /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/E52-Sync-Error-8393f010-838c03ee/m-p/740481)
Ovi Suite then recognized my device and the sync appears to have gone smoothly.  I hope it works for you too!  It's ridiculous that it causes so many problems though--I've wasted many hours on something that should have installed correctly the first time.

    Zship's revelations:
So this is not really a problem for me. I have the working, older (2.2.1.23) version of Ovi Suite installed on my netbook, and sure enough, it works fine, I just tried it. I wont be updating Ovi Suite on it though. I also could probably just download the update via 3.5G using just the phone itself, but the problem remains that a simple software update has caused a critical connectivity problem between your software and hardware. Given that many Nokia customers would have less technical know-how than say, myself or anyone else on this forum, this problem is a quite likely a huge inconvenience to them, they probably wouldn't visit these discussions and spend 5 hours reinstalling software like I just did, and they surely would be thinking twice before purchasing another Nokia device in the future.
tl;dr - Nokia recommended update breaks connectivity between software and device, various attempts to fix seemingly simple problem don't work.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

SAME PROBLEM. And none of the many suggested solutions has worked for me yet. I want to thank all on this thread (and many others) for their help. I've learned a lot but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I think maybe Nokia needs to ... uh ... bloody well BOTHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE themselves, maybe. Like, cuz they're PAID FOR IT and I'M NOT. Harrumph.
I run Windows XP, and was on Media Player 11, but have rolled back to 9 and 10. I have a Nokia E 72. I have all the latest Nokia cable-drivers, PC Suite, OVI Suite, Connectivity software, etc.. The symptoms are as follows: when I plug in the phone by USB cable, the laptop won't recognize it. It says "USB device faulty" or "failed to load properly" and refuses to get the hardware into its brain. The Device Manager shows only a "Unknown Device" which I cannot install drivers onto. Taking the extra media-card out of the phone doesn't make any difference -- nothing I've done will make the computer recognize the main (built-in) card in the phone. I can't browse to it via any sort of populate / repopulate disk drive, or any other method of connecting it.
As I understand it, this is some conflict with the phone and the new concept of MTP. Media Transfer Protocol confuses the computer, causing it to kind-of think that the phone is kind-of a media player, when in fact it's a whole lot more. So, the "parent" doesn't get loaded, then the rest of the phone doesn't get loaded, then it kind-of tries to load some MTP but fails, etc.. If I could browse to the phone through a non-Nokia connection I'd be happy to do so in order to implement any of a number of the suggestions above. But I can't get the computer to recognize the phone when the phone is plugged in by USB, regardless of all the solutions above.
The problem began a few days ago. It just up and wouldn't recognize the phone. I hadn't installed any updates that I knew of on either item, but it's possible that my memory is faulty and a newer version of this or that snuck in there and screwed it all up. I have tried a serious roll-back to a Restore Point about six weeks old, but that didn't solve the problem. This suggests to me that the problem is phone-resident, since the rollback was to a computer-based Restore Point and I don't have phone rollback capability.
This seriously hampers me. PC Suite, OVI, and some future version of Nokia Suite, will all be useless to me unless Nokia accomplishes the stunning act of supporting their software. I won't hold my breath. Just in general, you'd think that plug-and-play of a phone into your computer would be a lot simpler. Just take the cord -- stick it in the phone; stick it in the computer -- and shazam, you're plugged in. But NOOOOOO we're on NOOOOOOKIA ... Now I know why Microsoft wanted to buy them so badly. They knew they'd all get along and have the same assumptions about software -- that it doesn't really matter whether it works reliably on a user's computer at his home, as long as it works in theory on some programmer's ideal personal computer in Seattle once in a rare while. Nokia? Meet Microsoft. Microsoft? You and Nokia will get along juuuust fiiiine ...

  • OS 10.4 - Network - OS 9.1: AFP-Protocol incomatible

    Hi,
i have a OS 10.4 G5 and a OS 9.1 G4 in my Network. When i try to connect from the G5 to the G4 i get the message that the "AFP protocol" on the G4 is incompatible.
I've searched at google for hours and now i can connect from the G4 to the G5 via TCP/IP. But i need to connect from the G5 to the G4. Is this possible?
I also need to connect to a Windows NT-PC but untill now i haven't tried if this works, i think it wont!?
    Greetings from Germany

Yesterday we downloaded a trial version of ShareWay, which worked on the one G4 OS9.2.2 that we tried last night.
    http://www2.opendoor.com/shareway/shareway3.html
Our situation prior to trying Shareway:
    1) From G5 Tiger, we want to connect to OS9.2.2 installed on two iMacs and one G4.
    2) The connection works fine to only one iMac.
    3) The other iMac and G4 report the AFP protocol error.
    4) All three connection work fine from G5/10.3.9.
This morning I found these rather confusing articles, which we'll try next week. I'd appreciate reading about your experiences.

    Hi
Consider that I dont have FTP installed on my computer. According to this blog
    /people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/08/01/along-came-a-file-adapter-mr-ftp-and-rest-of-the-gang
    I have configured.
In sender comm channel I have given Ipaddress of computer 1 (which has a file to be picked)
In Receiver Comm channel I have given IP address of computer 3 (in which file to be posted)
and computer 2 is the XI server
    Computer 1 has FTP installed
    1. XI server should have FTP installed or not ? IF yes is it FTP client  or FTP server   or Guild FTP (according to the blog is enough)
    2. Computer 3 should have FTP installed or not ?
Please help me I am really confused.
    Thanks

  • I downloaded Newest mozilla yesterday, adobe updated, and now when I click a YouTube video I get a box saying "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (rtsp) isn't associated with any program." and can't watch any videos?

I downloaded the latest version of Mozilla Firefox yesterday, full and complete, and I am actually using it right now. The only problem I have had is upon clicking any YouTube video, the box pops up saying "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (rtsp) isn't associated with any program." But there are no directions or suggestions on how to address this problem. Ive looked at YouTube add-ons and none of them really seem related. Upon the finish of the new Mozilla, I also was prompted to upgrade the flash player, and did so without any trouble. I am only guessing this is an extension/plug-in problem. I really am quite confused!

  • How to use the WebSocket Protocol Component API to 'talk' to a Node.JS server.

I hope that this posting is in the correct forum, as I am using Visual Studio 2013 I thought this might be the case.
I have a secure Node.JS server that I want to access from my native windows C++ application and I thought this API would be the cleanest solution as I only need Server 2012 and Windows 8 support. I downloaded from Microsoft the only C++ example
I could find (Web Socket Protocol Component API sample.zip) but this only served to confuse me as it makes use of both Client and Server connections, and to add to my confusion is the very sparse documentation so the progress I am making is now non-existent.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do in order to create a usable Web Socket connection to my remote server.
The code I wrote based on that from the sample zip works but not in the way I was expecting it to as it makes no attempts to contact the remote server.I would really appreciate your help with this.

  • SOAP Adapter And Protocol issue

Why and when we use SOAP adapter ? Does Xi uses processed XML messages using SOAP protocol ? I am new to Xi and confused over the issue. Can anyone please explain this to me. Thanks for your time.

    HI KM
When you want to Send Data to XI from a Webservice and vice versa, your SOAP adapter is used.
    Check these links for reference...

SOAP adapters are used for communicating with the WEB SERVICE. Web service is a software system designed to support interoperable Machine-to-Machine interaction over a network. Web services are frequently just Web APIs that can be accessed over a network, such as the Internet, and executed on a remote system hosting the requested services. In common usage Web Service refers to clients and servers that communicate using XML messages that follow the SOAP standard. So we communicate the WEB SERVICE using the SOAP adapters.
This is an example WEB SERVICE which follows the SOAP standards

  • Feed:// protocol question

hi im trying to read RSS feeds and i am kind of new. i just basically need to parse information from the feed to use in a app, then process the data and spit it out to the user.
i have setup jdom, and ROME RSS/atom reader, and its all working, except the rss feeds i need to read are the feed:// protocol. it seems to not like this... am i doing something wrong? perhaps im confused on rss feeds from a generic standpoint as well...
    any help, suggestions appreciated

The line protocol state (up or down) reflects the layer 2 status of the interface. If your serial interface is saying that its state is up/down it means that it knows that it is plugged into something on the interface but that there is a layer 2 connectivity problem.
The nature of how the router determines the layer 2 status depends somewhat on the type of interface. On Serial interfaces the determination is based on the keepalives. So basically what the router is saying is that keepalives are not working on the router. There are a couple of things that can prevent keepalives on the serial interface, such as different protocols being configured (one end may be Cisco HDLC and the other end is PPP). If it was Frame Relay a mismatch of LMI type may cause it. Given your comment about using 2500 and that both sides are showing protocol down I am going to guesss that you have the routers configured back to back. And I am going to guess that you have not configured clock rate on whichever router has the DCE serial cable connected. When routers are back to back and do not connect to provider equipment, you need one of them to generate clocking (and it needs to be the one with the DCE cable). So check your cables, find which one is DCE, and configure clock rate on that router.

  • What is DHCP? I'm still confused about setting up Airport Extreme

I still unfortunately an confused by this:
No problem. I certainly understand. Again the key is only the device directly connected to the modem should be configured to provide the PPPoE credentials ... and (again) if the G5 was configured to do so, it would now have to be the AEBSn. In turn, the G5 would need to be reconfigured for "Using DHCP."
I don't know how to reconfigure my G5 and I'm afraid to do so. And, I don't know what DHCP is?
What you were saying is that I have to configure my Airport Extreme to the same settings that are now on this G5 and change the G5 settings to DHCP.
Sorry to be a bother. I just returned from a long trip and am getting ready to install the Airport Extreme. Would the software we simple enough for me to understand and just follow the instructions that Apple supplies?

    lucin wrote:

Older DSL modem require that the device connected to them supply the PPPoE sign-on information. However, I've seen DSL modems that can store and supply PPPoE sign-on information so that the device connected to them doesn't need to.

Like you just stated: "Using DHCP".
I don't know what DHCP is?
DHCP is "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol". It's intended to provide an Internet client with all the information (IP address, etc.) that it needs.
What you were saying is that I have to configure my Airport Extreme to the same settings that are now on this G5 and change the G5 settings to DHCP.
    Yes.
Your post strikes me as a reply to another message that's not in this thread. If you intended to continue another discussion, you should have done a "reply" to a message in that discussion.

  • Confused about SOAP

    Hi all,
As far as I know, SOAP is initially designed to be an XML based
    RPC protocol.
But Java API for XML Messaging (JAXM), which is actually a
messaging API (and not RPC), is also based on SOAP.
How do they fit to each other?
In a few words, what does actually SOAP define?
I am confused about that, can you help me?
    Any idea will be appreciated.
    Thank you

In a few words -- no. Try here:

  • Call control protocols over which technology ?

Hello, I am a little confused over which call control protocols are used over which layer 2 technologies.
    My understanding is as follows:
    - internet ADSL connection to PSTN = VOIP, therefore can use MGCP, H323 or SIP as call control protocols to your ITSP.
    - ISDN PRI digital connection to PSTN = ? (which control protocol(s)) ?
    - FXO analog port connection to PSTN = ?(which control protocol(s)) ?
Can someone please tell me what control protocols are used for ISDN PRI digital and FXO analog connections.
    Thanks kindly for any help.

    Hi
FXO : is a voice card Foreign Exchange Office (FXO) interface is an RJ-11 connector that allows an analog connection to be directed at the public switched telephone network's (PSTN's) central office or to a station interface on a private branch exchange (PBX).
H323:Is a protocol used to communicate between CUCM and gateways to allow incoming and outgoing calls.
MGCP: is a protocol used to communicate between CUCM and gateways to allow incoming and outgoing calls. For more information , please find the below link:-

  • My droid X2 "modem did not power up, starting rsd protocol"

Okay, so i shall first start by saying i dropped my phone over 2 months ago but have NEVER had any problems since then, i do not have a warranty on this phone, and i don't have much money to spend. The day before yesterday my phone started showing "no service" and thinking it would be easily fixed by turning my phone off then on i proceeded to do so only to see the error message "modem did not power up (2), starting RSD protocol"! I was shocked, confused and upset. I don't know what to do, i have tried everything. A friend of mine said that since it is a software problem and not because i had dropped it (months back, and was still working perfectly) that perhaps i could take it back and get it fixed for free? Am i to assume this would be the case or is there more i can do at home to save my phone?! Please, please help!

Try the solutions in this thread. https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/772503  Motorola forums also suggest to simply remove the sim card and reinsert it.  Good Luck

  • HS - Generic - Transparent Confusion

I am attempting to connect to a SQL Server machine via Oracle 10gR1 on Windows.
I think I am getting the differences between heterogeneous services, generic connectivity and transparent gateways confused - and as a result am mixing up my configurations.
So far I have created a system DSN via the ODBC admin. called "oracletest". This DSN has been tested and is working just fine. Just in case it is important, it is using SQL Server Authentication.
Then I created the $ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/iniths_oracletest.ora file with the following entries:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = oracletest
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = OFF
    I then modified $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora with
    ORACLETEST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ECYDBLCYADD01)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID=oracletest)
    (HS = OK)
    and $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora with
    (SID_DESC =
         (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = e:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1)
    (SID_NAME = oracletest)
I then bounced the listener and the database was registered. There was no registration of the oracletest entry. [Edit - the listener file was improperly named, once this was fixed the oracletest entry was registered at startup]
In sqlplus I created a database link
    SQL> create databsase link oracletest using 'oracletest';
    SQL> select * from combined_cd@oracletest;
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent
NCRO: Failed to make RSLV connection
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from ORACLETEST
    I also changed $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora
    to SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
    from SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
I haven't found any errors in the listener.log
I am guessing I am missing something small or have created some sort of vulcan mind meld of the different options that will never work.

    T,
    For your information:
'Hetrogenous Services' is the name of the system that allows an Oracle database to make SQL-like connections to non-Oracle systems. There are two types - 'Generic Connectivity' and 'Transparent Gateway'. 'Generic Connectivity' allows you to connect to ODBC and OleDB sources, and is provided as part of the database license and install. The 'Transparent Gateways' are built for specific systems (such as Sybase), and are licensed seperately. I think 'Generic Connectivity' used to be called 'Transparent Gateway for ODBC'.
    Your problem:
I think the file in '$ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/' should be named 'initoracletest.ora', not 'iniths_oracletest.ora'.
Here is a guide to getting started with Generic Connectivity:
