Proxy Editing with Premiere Elements 10

I just read the great post on how to proxy edit with version 7 at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390600?tstart=0, but I cannot find a way to save a preset with Premiere Elements 10 so I could then modify it to display previews in low-res and output in full HD. The online help from the program mentions "creating" presets, but then only describes how to slelect existing presets. Can anyone tell me how to make a new project preset, or better yet, if there is a built-in way to proxy edit with 10? Thanks!

For reasons that I have not figured out, your last message arrived as an email notification of an Adobe post, but it is not posted in your thread yet. In that post you wrote:
The properties for the clips shows:
Type: MPEG Movie
Image Size: 1920x1080
Frame Rate: 23.976
The Interpret Footage settings show under Frame Rate the radio button for Use frame rate from file: 23.9750 is selected, and under Pixel Aspect Ratio the radio button for use pixel aspect ration from file is selected.
I never received a message to change the project preset.
As a test, I imported a clip that was shot at 1920x1080 30fps and added it to the timeline. I did not receive an error message, but this clip also has a red line above it on the timeline (as do the 24 fps clips).
Thanks for the help AT and SG.
Based on the information supplied, I cannot see a reason why your video should be displaying with a red line over its content
IF
a. Your project preset = NTSC DLSR 1080p DLSR 1080p30 @ 23.97
b. You are dragging the import (1080p @ 23.7 progressive frames per second) from Media to Timeline as the first video to be placed on that Timeline
Please review these criteria and let us know if you spot anything that you have as not consistent with a and b.
Keep in mind, when you bring in a file that is 1080p30 into this project set for 1080p24, you would expect to get a red line over the 1080p30 content since there is a mismatch between file and the project settings.
Another important matter that I am not clear on...is your problem only in previewing? Or does the problem go to previewing as well as exported product?
Thanks.

Media cache files are not involved in the removal of the Adobe watermark from the project.prel file from a tryout.
Just a re-enforcement mention...you cannot remove the Adobe watermark from a tryout "saved" exported product; whereas, you can from a saved/closed project file (project.prel).
By exported product, I mean a burn to disc in the tryout or the Timeline of the tryout exported to a file saved to the computer hard drive.
In the case of removing the Adobe watermark from the tryout project.prel, classically you delete the rendered files (Timeline Menu/Delete Rendered Files) in the purchased program. In no way is media cache involved in this. Some of us have found that there was an automatic removal of the Adobe watermark resulting from just opening the tryout project.prel file in the purchased program.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Multiple Hard Drives for Video Editing with Premiere Elements 8?

I'm using Premiere Elements 8 for video editing. These are the specs I'm using:
The camcorder I used to shoot the footage is a Sony Handycam with  model number HDR-SR12. It's a digital HD video camera recorder that  shoots in NTSC 1920x1080i HD  recording. The footage was shot with AVC  HD  9M (HQ), which records in higher image quality mode. The  video  camera is connected to my computer through a USB cable.
The  computer  itself is a Windows 7 desktop computer. The CPU is an HP  Pavilion Elite  HPE-150f PC with Intel Core i7-860 processor. I imported  the video into  Premiere by selecting "File" --> "Get Media From"  and then choosing the third  option from the top.
My import  option is NTSC/AVCHD/Full HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel, which matches the  specs of the camera I shot the footage with.
Even with the patch 8.0.1 that should be preventing crashing, the program keeps crashing upon startup with one specific video project. Using the exact same video files for that project, I recreated the video, with Elements, and never ran into the problem. Both times, I had the patch installed.
At the moment, I am using only the single internal hard drive for everything (software, OS, video editing, etc.). It is 1 TB in size. However, I am informed that one hard drive is not recommended for video editing, and that I need at least two hard drives, one for OS and one specifically for video editing. I was also informed of FireWire 800 and eSata; however, it does not appear that my computer supports eSata.
Can this problem be resolved if I have an external hard drive and connect it to my computer with FireWire 800 (which the computer supports)? If not, what can be done so this problem doesn't arise in the future?
    Thanks for the help.

When you import the footage is there a red line across the whole of the timeline?

As you have the recreated project working fine I'd be inclined to put this down as a one-off glitch. If it happens again on a different project then it may be more worrying. You may want to consider using save-as to create multiple versions of your project (note this does NOT duplicate the source clips - so you won't be eating up much extra disk space). You could for example use save-as to create a daily version - ProjectName-Mon, ProjectName-Tue etc....

  • Can i edit MTS files with premiere elements 13

In this thread I have no interests but to supply reliable information to you. What I have written stands as is. And, my answer to your questions will continue to be honest and for your consideration. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask me.
As for AVCHD.mts and AVCHD.mp4 in camera whose specifications offer the choice of AVCHD or .MP4.....both have been reported to use a form of AVCHD video compression with different wrapper formats (.mts and .mp4). Again, I did not post to go further into that. Please refer to the following link's post dated February 12, 2014 as one discussion of the matter.
    FCP.co Forum :: Topic: AVCHD vs. MP4 ? (1/2)
I did not discover that AVCHD.mts does not play back the audio portion of an AVCHD.mts file when played back in the Elements Organizer 13 player. That has been the reality of Premiere Elements 13/Elements Organizer 13 users who found this out by themselves later than sooner. And, I confirm their results in those cases. There is no fix for this at the present time, and that is a user to user honest non marketing report. If this Elements Organizer issue is not an important concern for you, then this is a non issue for you.
    Best wishes with your projects.

  • Editing Premiere cs4 project with premiere elements 9?

Can I open a premiere cs4 project with premiere elements 9 to edit it.
    Thanks in advance

You are most welcome, though it's probably not the answer that you wanted.
There are just so very many differences between the two programs. As a test recently, I took a PREL from PrE 8, IIRC, and it would not even open in my PrPro 2.0, like my simple PrE 4 Projects would. That PrE 8 test Project was also simple, with no Themes, or Instant Movies - just Cuts and some common Transitions, no Effects. Just too different to Open.

  • How do I configure the custom external editor to work with Premiere Elements 13

    Situation
I own Lightroom 5.6 and I'm experienced. I've just bought Premiere Elements 13 and I'm a video-editing virgin (be gentle with me). I've spent a day experimenting, reading, watching videos, I've tried asking my question in Premiere Elements forum, and I'm still stuck (i.e. I've tried reasonably hard to solve my own problem).
    Problem
I've tried to set up the custom external editor in Lightroom 5 to send photos to Premiere Elements, so that I can incorporate images into movies. Having set it up, when I use it by selecting Photo/Edit In/Premiere Elements 13/, there is an exciting lull as a copy of the image is created and appears in LR, then Premiere Elements launches, then what??? There is no clue as to what has happened to the image regarding its import into Premiere Elements 13. It doesn't appear on the screen, it doesn't appear in the Organizer, it's no-where to be seen, other than in LR!
    Resolution sought
    Can anyone tell me:
    1. Is it possible to use Premiere Elements as an external editor in LR5 ?
    2. What are the precise settings for each field (I've played with the various field options but obviously haven't yet found the right combination)?
    3. If I configure it correctly, what does good look like: what should I expect to see happen in Premiere Elements when I squirt photos over from LR5 via the 'Edit In' option in LR5?
I don't know if this is relevant: MacBook Pro 16GB 2.8Ghz i7, 750GB SSD (i.e. plenty of space, plenty of horsepower), OS X 10.9.5
I'm hoping the answer isn't 'sorry, it can't be done' because if it is possible, it would be a real contribution to my video editing workflow.
    Thanks
    Phil

You don't have to buy an Apple keyboard, but you probably need at least to buy a keyboard that connects via proper USB instead of through some Windoze-world adapter, which probably requires a driver that's not available for the Mac OS.
The Apple Bluetooth KB and Magic Trackpad make a fabulous combination for use with any MacBook Pro that spends a lot of time in clamshell mode, because the trackpad works exactly like the built-in trackpad. So there's no transition adjustment to make when you pack up your MBP and go portable with it.

  • Is it possible to make a cartoon animation video with Premiere Elements ?

Is it possible to insert 16 different images every seconds in a video ? I will like to make an cartoon animation. Is it possible with Premiere Elements ? It look like it is only possible to change a picture/image every 1 seconds.
What software is good to make a small cartoon in size 140 * 140 pixels ?
    Best regards,
    Bo

    Bo,
    Welcome to the forum.
Doing stop-motion animation in PrE is easy, but as PrE is designed for common Video Frame Sizes, that 140 x 140 pixels will be tough. However, if you create your images at a larger size, that matches a common Video Frame Size, say 720 x 480, you can output to smaller size. In general terms, Video is horizontal rectangular.
To do the stop-motion animation in PrE, irrespective of that Frame Size, you would go to Edit>Preferences>General>Still Frame Duration, and there, you can set that Duration from 1 Frame, to almost infinity. Note: unlike some other settings on that General screne, the Still Frame Duration is in Frames.
You might be better off using a program like Photoshop Elements, and outputting to an Animated GIF. There are also many Animated GIF programs available, and many are free.
Adobe Flash would be a great choice, but it's not inexpensive. Same for Adobe After Effects. Both of those are designed to do all sorts of non-standard Video animations. However, for the price of either of those, one could buy dozens of Animated GIF creation programs.
PrE can do similar with Animated GIF (I could not find this in PrE 11, but others found it in previous versions), but due to its design around common Video specs., there will be limitations to overcome.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Converting H.264 for Editing in Premiere Elements 9

    Hi!
What is the best way to convert my MOV H.264 files off my Canon T2i for editing in premiere. I've heard several people say that H.264 is NOT an editing codec, and it seems to be true. I am editing a shoot with the files directly off the camera and IT IS SLOW!  When you go to export in Premiere it says that AVI files are what you should use for editing in Premiere, but my problem is that I don't know which is the best codec and quality to use. I want Full HD but I'm not sure how to transcode without losing quality. Any suggestions? Please help! Thanks.

Unfortunately, video from the Rebel series isn't supported natively in Premiere Elements 9. (Though it's worth a try. Have you tried one of the DSLR presets that matches your video's resolution?)
The BEST solution is to convert the video to a 1440x1080 MPEG/M2T using Quicktime Pro ($29 from Apple). 1440x1080, as you probably know, is the anamorphic version of 1920x1080, so it is the same resolution.
A 1440x1080 MPEG/M2T video should work perfectly with Premiere Elements' HDV project preset.
Remember: The test to see if you're using the ideal preset is that, when you add the video to your timeline, it will appear without a red line above it.
If you are seeing no red lines above your video but your video editing is still slow, it is most likely an indicator that your computer is not powerful enough to edit hi-def video or that it is not properly tuned.
If you're interested, there are much more detailed explanations for all of this in my books, available on Amazon and at Muvipix.com.

  • How much computer is enough computer to do editing with Adobe Elements 11 for the PC?

I've migrated away from SONY Vegas MovieStudio for the reason that it could not render out smooth-playing files for upload to the internet (I suspect SONY codecs are not so good). I find that my 4-year-old H/P Pavilion w/ AMD Athlon II 4-core CPU is not up to the task of editing with Adobe Premiere Elements 11.
SOLUTION: I've recently replaced the old machine with an off-the-shelf Hewlett/Packard Pavilion desktop computer, model p7-1515. This is a current model as of April 2013.
SPECS: Windows 8 OS, Intel Core i5-3470 processor (3.20 Ghz), Intel HD graphics 2500, 8 GB DDR3 memory, 1 TB SATA hard drive.
UPGRADES I WAS ABLE TO PERFORM MYSELF: The hard drive cage allows for the addition of just 1 additional hard drive and I have added a second 1 TB SATA drive. Memory has been increased with the addition of a second 8Gb RAM module. I downloaded and installed Apple QuickTime 7.7.3.
I've been working with this new computer for several days and have had no problems to report. None. I realize that 'acceptable performance' is often in the eyes of the user. My experience with the H/P Pavilion p7-1515 is that it is quite up to editing within Premiere Elements 11.
As this posting is not a 'question' per se, the board moderator might wish to relocated it. Just thought my experience might be worth sharing with users looking for a 'budget-friendly' desktop machine. Disclaimer: I am not associated with H/P and have no monetary interest in the sale of their products.

  • New JVC GY-HM100u won't work with Premiere Elements 4...?????Help

ill not work with JVC GY-HM100U camera?
The video uploads into premeire 4, but I have no audio. Please help.
    Eric

    Eric
You really need to define what you are recording with that JVC camcorder and trying to edit in Premiere Elements 4. Are you recording AVCHD (represented as MPEG4 AVC/H.264) and frame size 1920 x 1080 30 frames per second OR 1440 x 1080 30 frames per second OR what might be AVCHD Lite (MPEG4 AVC/H.264) but with the lesser resolution of 1280 x 720, 30 frames per second?
AVCHD is not supported by Premiere Elements 4. AVCHD support for Premiere Elements exists for versions 7 and 8. There is a special case where, with certain Sony Vaio and Sony Add On, you end up with AVCHD support for your setup. As I recall, in the days of Premiere Elements 4 users who did not have this special Sony Vaio, they needed to convert the AVCHD to a non AVCHD format in order to work with it in Premiere Elements 4.0 (with 3rd party software).
To avoid the speculation, best to download and install the first utility named gspot and give us a read out for Video Codec: Name: Status; Audio Codec: Name: Status; frame rate, frame size, etc. Be sure to indicate what the file extension is for these videos (.mov, .mp4, .m2t, .mts, .m2ts, or other.
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/quick_start.html
From what I have read this camcorder does not record SD, but is probably recording AVCHD and HDV. If I am on the right track with this one, have you taken time to look at Premiere Elements 4 with other JVC formats, like HDV, besides whatever you are using now?

  • New to Forum, Example video Edited in Premiere Elements

    All,
I'm new to this forum, hopefully i can give as much as i recieve.
I took some video and made a short YouTube clip of a local band playing a very cool original song. Shot with a Canon 7D and a variety of 2.8 or faster lenses, edited in Premiere Elements. The audio track came from a CD, all footage was shot live.
    1. Editing HD footage was painfully slow, so not a good alignment between audio and video in some areas. Is "real-time" editing possible or am I asking too much?
    2. 6 hours of editing and not one crash.

    Steve,
    Thanks for the feedback!
I've got a dual core AMD 4 GB ram, Win7 64 bit. My graphics card is low end, but have tried and FX580--not much better. I'll be trying other graphics cards, and once again the FX580. I'm happy to supply better machine stats, and project settings,
The sample video here was made from 10 or so separate 1920 x 1080 30 fps MOV files less that 1 GB each. The MOV came right out of my Canon 7D. Note I never see a red line above clips unless I've applied some effects.
    Things that run very slowly
    1. panning the time line (drag the slider at the bottom of the timeline), can take several seconds for the timeline to move--very slow. I typically have the attributes for each track minimized (to not display anything) in an attempt to boost display speed.
    2. when editing a movie and just hitting the "play" button on the preview window--nasty slow. the first few frames sync with the audio but after say 5 sec of playing. the video tends to stop but or get very jerky.
    3. double click a movie clip (which launches a separate window), play the movie in that window, again very slow choppy graphics.
I've got to believe it's user error. Adobe Premiere (previous versions) have always been fine--performance is so bad, other's would be screaming.
    Again, thanks for chiming in.

I think to change my old MAC Powerbook G4 (laptop) for an Imac intel core duo 21.5 inches.

What about my files/project created with Premiere 6.5 if I want to open  them with Adobe Premiere Element 9 ?
Is it possible ? IS there any trouble bewteen these software ? does PRemiere Element 9 support okds projects created with PRemiere 6.5 ?
It's very important for me because I have to finish (editing, effect, etc...) some short movies I started to edit with Premiere 6.5
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,

Sorry, A, but these files are not even remotely compatible.
Premiere 6.5 is a ten-year-old piece of software that was completely overhauled to created Premiere Pro. So the project files definitely won't open in Premiere Elements.
However, if you've output DV-AVIs from Premiere 6.5, you may well be able to use those as source video in Premiere Elements 9.

  • Iphoto Editing with Photoshop Elements 9

I am going into Iphoto, clicking the Edit button and it brings up Photoshop Elements 9.  I make changes, they
look OK so I save it.  When I get back to IPhoto, it looks like the change has been made.  However when I go
back later in the day and click on the updated photo and there is a triangle with an exclamation point in the middle.
This means it can't find the original.  They're all located in Iphoto, what is happening?  Why does it look like the changes
are make and then I can't find them?

I do use a Mac, so I don¹t think versions is an issue. I would rather
pictures edited in PSE, which began life in iPhoto, should always be saved
back to iPhoto, as they were in Elements 8. That is not happening. Neither
do I know where to find pictures that PSE has saved.

If you see the save as dialog you don't have your saving files preference set
correctly. To make versions, you must set it to Save over Original.
However, note that there is a big ol' bug in the mac version that if you even
open that particular preference window (even if you don't change anything
there) PSE will no longer add file extensions when you save. When using PSE as
external editor it doesn't matter so much, but if you ever save to the desktop
you will need to add the file extension manually to the saved file.
