Psadmin list-dp : xml output is encoded with environment locale encoding

I am building some scripts to help me administer desktop profiles, providers jsp files, and others. Thoses scripts use the psadmin command.
I have hit what seems to me an unexpected behavior, when trying to download a desktop profile from a script :
the list-dp psadmin command output is encoded with the current environment locale encoding.
I suppose almost all psadmin commands localize and encode output as well, but in this case it is annoying : list-dp fails to output a valid xml file when xml header stated encoding (which is left untouched) and current locale encoding differ.
I have found a simple workaround which involve setting the environment locale to a fixed value, but I would like to know if this problem is known, and if it will be corrected (if it is not already) ?
My portal version is 7.0 with patch 121913-01,
the host system is SunOS 5.10 on a sparc host (v240).
Best Regards

Well, I have found the answer to my question :
The Sun Java System Portal Server 7.1 Release Notes bugs section refers to bug #6502307 and gives a workaround.
Here is the link to release note :

  • F4v encoded with Adobe media encoder CS4 (longer than 71 minutes)

    Hi I don't know if this is the correct place for this post. So apologies me if this is the wrong place.
    Encoding with Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (4.2.0.006 and 4.0 too)
    Source: MOV (DVPAL) longer than 71 minutes
    Dest: F4V (H.264)
    Result: freezed frames and only plays audio at 01:11. Media Player goes crazy and starts showing some diferent parts freeze frames.
    In Quicktime crashes, in VLC the same of MediaPlayer. Sometimes the audio starts to downsampling and sounds like the pitch goes down.
    Totally agree with this other post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/580391
    (extract)
    I recentlly encoded afew F4V using Adobe Media Encoder Cs4.  MOst of them are working properly but I don't know why, all of my video that are longer than 71 minutes seems to have trouble playing back.  They all Freeze when they reach 71 minutes or if I navigate pass this point.
    thanks and help us please!

    Thanks for the interest.
    I'll try to explain all details:
    MacPro 1.1 (mid 2006) under Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Darwin 8.11.1 kernel)
    System files: journaled HFS+ and a unix based NAS (under samba connection)
    I have all material on the NAS and also I make the transcoding over it. Is a simple mov containing DV PAL WIDE interlaced 25fps with stereo audio. typical settings with nothing out of DV PAL standard.
    The version of MediaEncoder CS4: 4.2.0.006 (it happens with older versions too)
    The settings of MediaEncoder are:
    Audio: AAC stereo 44,1 kHz
    Video: F4V. MainConcept H.264, fps like source, profile high, level 4,1. CBR compression.
    The problem only appears with videos longer than 71 minuts. At 01:11 starts with crazy problems. It seems like the player have some read or problems.
    Tell me if you need some other kind of information.

  • Zen doesn't play .m4a encoded with Nero AAC encoder = Creative, please create a firmware f

    The Zen doesn't play AAC encoded with Nero's AAC encoder, which is unfortunate since it's the best one out there. It does, however, support iTunes-encoded AAC. There was a brief discussion on it elsewhere, but I'd like to focus the discussion here on:. Request for firmware fix by Creative, so the Zen will read the files: ple2. A fix to get the files to play in the current firmware?Many of the references in this forum to wishlists, tools etc. are dead links, so hopefully?this thread will generate some answers for those of us out there with sizeable Nero AAC-encoded?music libraries.

    Very Good!!
    I'd just like to report that m4a files made with winamp and then repackaged with your application have a problem in fast forward and rewind. That is, (Sorry for my English, please try to understand) when you fast forward to a point, the player correctly jumps to the desired point, but, after that, the playback bar starts again from 00:00:00, even if the player is in the middle of the song.
    Anyway, this doesn't corrupt playback quality and doesn't create audio gaps; moreover, it just happens with the zen, while winamp works correctly.

  • XML output of InDesign with position values

    Hi,
    I've created a couple of Indesign documents and like to export them with a position value to each item (text, image). It's important because the position of the content is very important
    Of course I would need that to happen automatically.
    E.g. it should look like this in the end:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <Root>
         <Image href="file://images/IMG_68343.JPG" xRelPosition="112.3mm" yRelPosition="23.4mm"></Image>
         <Story xRelPosition="12.3mm" yRelPosition="123.4mm">Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry&#8217;s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.</Story>
    </Root>
    Also I would need the tagging to happen automatically as well because there are many individual elements on those pages.
    Is this in some way at all possible?
    Thank you for any help!

    If your XML is already in place in the file, it's quite easy to add the positions of each item as XML Atrtibutes, using a script -- with one exception. The story in your sample may run into more than a single frame. How would you solve that?

  • No Sound Encoding with Windows media encoder

    Recently bought a dv8 with windows 7
    I am trying to encode a wmv from a few video files. The video works fine but I get no sound.
    Im have been trying to find a combination of sound settings in the sounds manager>recordings tab. but nothing seems to work.
    Im am also using the hardware profile option for compression with video set to high and I have chosen various sound profiles.
    I just cant seem to get the audio to pass from the file into the encoder. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Try the following.
    Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
    When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
    When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
    Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
    Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Re-Encoding with Old Encoder

    Is it possible to re-import a CD to the almost-latest iTunes (I stayed with 9.2), but have it encode with an older encoder?
    So with some CD's that had been imported long ago, but for whatever reason were re-encoded much more recently with a later encoder (like having it encoded at 8.0.2 rather than its original encoder of 7.2.3 for example)
    I know an option is to just download older versions of iTunes, but it's difficult to try and continue that process with downloading each next version of iTunes until arriving back at my current version.
    Anyone have any advice?

    You'd need the older itunes version installed.
    Just curious, why do you want to do this?

  • Need HDV encoding for backup and encoding in windows.

    Need HDV codex for PC. rather than caputre back to tape then onto my PC with ASpect HD.
    I would like to encode a project and store it on my pc with little to no loss in quailty. Is there any type of codex that will keep te HDV quailty but plays and encodes with WINDOW MEDIA ENCODER? and what are the settings?
    I have done this with DV footage by going to export - Useing quicktime conversion: settings avi -Options - DVCPro. I can't seem to do them same useing HDV. I think the new FC6 can do this. but how?
    thnaks for your help

    You would need a utility that will encode to your desired format (AVI?). Such utilities would be Sorenson Squeeze, Autodesk Cleaner and Compression Master. Copy it to the Windows system after encoding. And yes, it will take a very long time unless you have a node cluster (render farm) of some sort so you are probably better off sending it back to tape and capturing it natively on the PC if you are wanting to work on the footage there. If you are just wanting to play the video on the PC then encode it.

  • XML output with UTF8 Encoding scheme

    In external partner wants that we provide him an XML file with data, encoded in UTF8 format.
    Using the SQL/XML functions I can construct the XML with the structure (shcema) he asks for.
    But how can I guarantee that my XML-output is in UTF8, because our oracle database has been built in the default character set WE8ISO8859PI.
    I suppose it is not enough to add in front off my document: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF8"?> ?

    Jan,
    You may want to check on metalink for WE8iso8859P1 to see if it is a subset of UTF8. There are some documents on metalink that discuss the UTF8 character set and ways to pull differenct character sets and conversion from the database depending on what is stored in the database, or changing the database character set to UTF8.
    Have you tried a test extract to see if the characters are correct?

  • Easiest and/or best methods for generating XML output (not with a report)

    Hi, several of our EBS customers (11.5.10) are converting their PDF reports to use XML/BI publisher to produce output. The data stream comes from a report that generates the XML output, and then the XML template is applied. This works great ... no problems, etc. From what I have read, however, Oracle intends to treat the traditional Forms and Reports Developers as legacy tools (although still supporting them, of course).
    My question is if I wanted to ditch using Reports to generate XML output, what, in your opinion or in your current usage, is the easiest way of getting this data? In Reports, the data modeler is excellent in providing a method to write your queries, split them into different repeating groups, write formula and summary columns, link multiple queries, etc, etc. If one were to become Reports Developer free, what comparable tools are available to take its place? I would expect this tool to handle a mix of GUI and coding like the Reports data modeler. Please note that I'm not looking for an EBS-specific solution -- say for a custom application using regular Oracle 10g DB and iAS, with BI Publisher for reporting.
    Thanks for your feedback,
    Ryan

    What I'm looking for is to not use Oracle Reports to generate the XML data output since Oracle's statement of direction is pushing BI Publisher rather than Oracle Reports as the preferred tool for reporting. That said, the data modeler in Reports provides a very flexible tool to construct and link multiple queries and to manipulate the queries into several levels of a master/detail relationship. Further, the mix of GUI and coding makes setting up the data model a lot more efficient. What I'm looking for (and I don't know if anything exists) is something comparable that can be used to generate XML output from the DB -- the idea being that I wouldn't use legacy tools, like Reports, for this task. I hope that is clearer.
    Really, another way of answering my question is, aside from Reports and the APIs mentioned so far, what are my fellow developers using, if anything, to extract XML data in a way that handles the features i list above?

  • XML Output - Issue with multiple field labels.

    Dear Users,
    I am trying to create an XML sheet as output for my program, and am struck at a point where I don't need field labels appearing on the XML output.
    The code looks as below:
          l_element_order = l_document->create_simple_element(
                name = 'Order'
                parent = l_element_ordertype ).
          l_value = it_order-aufnr.
          l_rc = l_element_order->set_attribute( name = 'AUFNR' value = l_value ).
    On my output though, both the field labels 'Order' and 'AUFNR' appear side by side. I would ideally only want the 'Order' label to appear.
    Is there a method through which I can suppress the labels?!
    I am using the following classes as a part of the code:
    DATA: l_ostream         TYPE REF TO if_ixml_ostream,
          l_ixml            TYPE REF TO if_ixml,
          l_streamfactory   TYPE REF TO if_ixml_stream_factory,
          l_renderer        TYPE REF TO if_ixml_renderer,
          l_document        TYPE REF TO if_ixml_document,
          l_value           TYPE string.
    Would be much appreciated if someone could help me with this please. Thanks!

    Hi, you can FOR XML PATH for a finer degree of control over your XML.  Use the @ symbol to create attributes.  Here's a simple example:
    DECLARE @t TABLE ( rowId INT IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY, [address] VARCHAR(50), city VARCHAR(30), floor INT, suite INT, doorType VARCHAR(20) )
    INSERT INTO @t VALUES
    ( '123 Fake St', 'Springfield', 10, 512, 'Metal' )
    SELECT
    [address] AS "Address",
    city AS City,
    [floor] AS "Location/@Floor",
    suite AS "Location/@Suite",
    doorType AS "Location/@DoorType"
    FROM @t
    FOR XML PATH ('Company'), ROOT ('Companies'), ELEMENTS;

  • Urgent ! XML Output with header, body, trailer

    Gurus,
    I am trying to use Report to output an xml file with header, body and trailer regions. However, I find that the tool does not allow me to create a header region with info like <report_date>, <report_name>, <report_desc> etc.
    Moreover, the tool is not flexible that in the group level, it always automatically fills in the outer tag for me even if I intentionally leave it blank.
    So, except using the XML file output function, is there any other way outputing XML file using the tool? Otherwise, I may need to hard code a program to do so!
    Thanks for your advice!
    Shoshi

    Hi
    Reports XML file is driven by your queries and groups therein. This means that the groups (and break groups) are represented in XML form.
    It is not driven by the layout. So your header region does not appear.
    What I suggest is that you need to create a report level formula column in the Data Model. The formula returns date, name and description etc. Since this is a part of Data Model now, it will appear in the XML output.

    Sripathy
