PSE 10 Error Saving Project

I have been getting an error message: "Error Saving Project"  when I try to save my PSE 10 slide show.  I am unable to save any changes.  I have closed out the project and opened it again and received the same error message.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I am also having this same problem.
I've been making changes to this particular slideshow for weeks.  Today I did about 2 hours of work and now I can't save the project.  Error message is "Error Saving Project".  I've also tried saving to new a new file name with the same results.
I didn't add or delete any slides today.  I only added zoom/pan to several dozen slides.  There are about 70 slides overall.
I have not exited the program for fear that I will lose all my work.
Does anyone have something to try?
Thanks,
Paul

When I try to save a slide show project using Elements Organizer 12 in Adboe Premier Elements i get an "Error Saving Project" message and it will not let me save my project.  Can you help?

    Thanks for the updates.
Just a point of clarification. Did you ever disable the psa.prf file by renaming it to psa.prfOLD? It sounded like you could not. If that was the case, was there any message associated with the program not wanting to follow you directive? Was it a saving matter or did you get a pop up about permissions? If a permissions one, did it give you an option for Continue? If so, did you click on Continue?
    1. Let us try to get the psa.prf deleted or disabled if possible.
    2. Then create a new catalog. See Elements Organizer 12, File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager,
Let us see if we can rule in or out the two above.
Besides the problem with the Save Project in the Slideshow Editor, are you seeing that problem anywhere else? (I know that you said you do not have a problem with the Output option Save As A File Movie WMV.

  • Error saving Project 2010 files to network drive - doesn't see network drive

    ANSWERED (11 April 2014):
So it seems the resolution to this is to simply create a new share with a different name. I used the existing folder (to retain NTFS permissions) and just select to Add a new Share (applying the same Share permissions as the non working Shares).
Deploying this new Share via Group Policy as a test resulted in staff being able to open files from Windows Search, save files through MS Project and the Share being accessible through browsing SMB.
All problems resolved by using a new share name for the existing folder. Seems to be a corruption in the namespace.
Note: I had previously deleted the share and recreated it. I had removed all NTFS permissions and readded (through both the GUI and icacls). This didn't make a difference.
Only changing the name of the share fixed the problem.
    Original Question
    Already
posted here... but Microsoft Support has not responded.
It seems some staff on some computers are having problems saving MS Project files to the network. This is only since an upgrade to SBS2011 (from SBS2003). The only difference now, is that network drives are mapped via group policy rather than a  'net
    use' script.
This is affecting users on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, with either MS Project 2007 or 2010. The users have full change access to the folders and can create new files and modifying existing files, just not a MS Project file. Other file tyes, e.g
Word .docx, Excel .xlsx, Adobe .pdf files, all work fine. These files can be opened, edited and saved normally without problem.
    To replicate this:
The user opens an existing file or creates a new file on the network folder (either through Windows Explorer or MS Project). They then click File > Save in MS Project and receive the following error (see pic below):
An interesting symptom of this is that if you select File > Save As in MS Project, the Sae As dialog box doesn't remeber the path location of the network drive. MS Project instead prompts to save the file in the local users documents folder (see pic below):
If they browse back to the original folder where the file was saved and choose to save it there, they are of course, prompted to overwrite the existing file and they can save the file. But the same thing happens every time they open the file.
It seems the problem is that Project isn't seeing the path of the file or that the network drive is attached.
If a user closes the file without saving it, they are prompted to save the file and the prompt shows the drive path:
Do you want to save changes to "N:\... Projects\Active Projects\CC...\F4 Project Plan File\004 Programme\test project file.mpp"?
But choosing to save the file gives them the same result as Save As, they are prompted for a new location as if the original file location doesn't exist.
I have disconnected the mapped drive and connected it again using net use but get the same error.
I have reinstalled MS Project 201, installed Project 2010 SP2 and installed Windows updates and it does the same thing, exactly the same symptoms.
Further, if the user opens a file from the network drive, the file shows in the Project recent files list. If they try to open the file from the recent files list in project they get the following error:
    "Project cannot open the file.
-Check that the file name and path are correct.
-Check that the file format is recognized by Project.
Project files saved in a version earlier than Microsoft Project 98 can't be opened...."
This is a test file that I created on the user's computer and network drive, This is being opened with the same version it was created in. If I browse to the folder in Windows Explorer I can open the file. Of course, I then can't save the file (I still get
the original error). I'm logged on with Domain Admin privileges.
I've checked these links from other threads (neither apply to my scenario):
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983458/en-us|
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/excel/thread/2eeea140-7e6c-4cb9-a89b-06d2102bd9f7/
I've downloaded my TechNet version of he software and installed it with Sp2 and Windows updates and it does the same thing. This also happens on the Remote Desktop server (Server 2008 R2) using MS Project 2007.

    Case 1
This error message appears when the document is open on two or more computers that are running different operating platforms. For example,
if the document is open on a Macintosh computer and you open it on a second computer running Windows or Windows NT, the error occurs when either user tries to save the document.
This problem stems from a difference between the ways Macintosh OLE and Windows OLE open files. As a result, you cannot save a file on two different operating platforms at the same time.
    Case 2
This error occurs in Word 97 for Windows if you save to a MAPROOT type network drive connection on a NetWare server where spaces exist in
    the file or folder name.
    Case 3
This problem may occur if an anti-virus program running on a network has the ability to scan for macro viruses in documents in shared network
    folders.
For example, if you have the following:
a shared folder on a network server
    -and-
an anti-virus program is running on the network server that is set to monitor the shared folder,
when you attempt to save a document (across the network) to the shared folder, the anti-virus checker may cause the error to occur.
    Case 4
This problem may occur on Novell networks when the AutoRecover files path is either blank or set to a network drive.
According each, please try the following workaround:
    WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods appropriate to your situation.
    Case 1
    Method 1:
Move the document to your local hard disk for editing. Move it back to the server after you finish.
    Method 2:
    Save a copy of the
    file with a different
file name, and work on the copy, either on your hard disk or on the server.
    Case 3
    Method 1:
Move the document to your local hard disk for editing. Move it back to the server after you finish.
    Method 2:
Do not use spaces in the directory or document names.
    Method 3:
Do not use MAPROOT-drive connections. Map your drive connections to the volume-level only.
    Case 4
Turn off the anti-virus protection on the network server and then try to
save the document. Contact your anti-virus protection software company for additional details and/or updates to their programs.
    Case 5
Set the AutoRecover files path to your local drive. To change the AutoRecover path, use the following steps:
    1.
On the Tools menu, click Options.
    2.
On the File Locations tab, select AutoRecover files and then click Modify.
    3.
Change the Modify Location dialog box to a
folder on your local drive and then click OK.
    4.
Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
    Hope that helps.

  • Saving project file error

Whenever i add a video peephole effect to a clip or a still-photo and then try to save the project, I get the "saving project" window with the "saving project file" timer thing (?) continuously indictating it is trying to save, but it never stops. I end up having to force-close Imovie without saving any changes??

If your PowerBook is that new, then I would imagine that you do have the proper card.
To find out, click on the little Blue  in the upper left hand corner of the desktop. Then click on "About This Mac". Then "More Info..."
The System profiler will open and you then click on "Graphics/Display"
It will look something like this:

  • Prel 13 saved project files will not open, or Prel stops working.

Sandgrass-Saved files of Prel 13 projects will not open in Prel 13.  Is there any way to reclaim/alter these files to where they will open? Could there be a missing codec?
            My computer—Hpe 580t, Win 7 Professional 64-bit OS with second internal 1 TB hard drive;
               Intel R Core, TM i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07 GHz,      RAM 9.00GB
All of my clips and stills were taken on my Nikon CoolPix P500.  They will import just fine from PSE organizer or from Prel 13 organizer and I can edit just fine. The trouble seems to be when I attempt to open the saved project files for further editing or adding  movie theme and scene markers for a 54-minute movie.
I have tried opening from within Prel 13 and from the stored files on my Data Drive E:.  Prel opens the project and tries to load; then an error msg appears:  “Premiere Elements has stopped working.  Windows will close the program and let you know if a solution is found”, or an error message says "Cannot open:---this file is not compatible with Pre"l.  Only one copy of several edited and rendered copies of the project will open, and I am very afraid to touch it until someone can maybe suggest a solution.  I tried saving copies of the one working file, but none of them will open. Thank you for your assistance.      Sandgrass

Did you say that you were working on Windows or Mac? For now, assuming Windows,
    1. Go to the Adobe Folder in Documents (should be there unless you changed the default).
    2. Locate the project.prel file of interest in Adobe Folder/Documents Folder/Premiere Elements Folder/11.0 Folder. Inside the 11.0 Folder, among some folders and other files, are the project.prel files if you did not do any special organization. Right click the project.prel of interest and select Open With, followed by Premiere Elements 10. Does the project now open?
Do you have any versions of Premiere Elements on your computer except this Premiere Elements 10?
Have you deleted or moved any of the source media that went into your project after you saved/closed any of these projects? Where are your source media stored? If on an external hard drive, is the drive letter of that drive changing on its own?
What happens if you rename one of the problem project.prel files in the Adobe Folder and then try to open it from there?
    Just some thoughts for now.
We will be watching for further developments.
    Thanks.

In general if you have not even done any work and are starting
fresh, you should of course not see any problems. If so,
then something must have gone wrong during the install. You might
want to just re-install as a precaution.

  • Premiere Elements 8 won't load recently saved project

I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 8 to create a highlight video.  I made two videos last year and didn't have this problem but this video is slightly longer.  About twenty minutes total consisting of approximately 100 video clips.  I've added one more group of clips and not when I try to load the saved project I just get a gray blank screen.  The load message finishes but nothing appears.  The drop down menus are mostly still grayed out.  No good selections except to press load project again.  This causes a system error that shuts down the application.  Any tips or tricks are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave Flick

Bill, here is the good news.
I updated the Quick Time like you suggested but no help.  I updated the video driver but no help.  I disabled the hardware acceleration but no help.  During this time I realized the problem started after I upgraded McAfee.  I remembered the new McAfee Real Time scanning effected my Outlook software.  So I disabled the McAfee Real Time scanning and then Premiere Elements 8 would successfully load my saved project.  What a relief.  I went back and Turned On the McAfee Real Time scanning but changed the setting to only scan programs and documents, not all files as previously set.  I'm back in business and really appreciate your help.  Thanks a million.

  • Unable to open saved projects in CS5.5

    Hello,
Im using Premiere Pro CS5.5 and as of this moring when I try to open a saved project Premiere crashes with the error "sorry a serious error occurred adobe premiere and must close". I am able to create a new project which works fine (didnt try saving it and reopening it). I also found that when logging into that machine as a different user Im able to open saved projects.
I dumped everything in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\5.5 thinking maybe the preferences may have been corrupted but no luck.
    Any thoughts?

We are having the same issue. We are using Garageband '09 version 5.1 on our new iMac 10.6.2. Each time we try to save or open an existing file we get this message "The document “My Song 3.band” could not be opened". This is starting to get really frustrating. Do you think with the new operating system we need iLife?

  • Windows 7 DVD Maker "Error Synchronizing Project"

I installed Windows 7 RC 7100 on a new hard disk and did not install any other software.
I tried to create a DVD-Video by inserting JPG images, AVI files and some MP3 files as slide background music. I was not able to Preview the movie and when I tried to burn it to DVD, it complained "Error Synchronizing Project".
I confirmed temp directory exist and tried to deselect all filters / individual filter, still the same. I tried to install DIVX AVI Codec still the same. Then I suspect I have included too many JPG/AVI files. After consolidating some AVI files, it did burn a DVD successfully. Great, however I found the background music for slides were gone. I open the saved project again, "Error Synchronizing Project" popped up again! Any solution?

I upgraded to Win 7 from Vista due to the DVD software supposedly being upgraded in 7 - if it is so, not by much.
Things I've learned over the hours:
-Win DVD Maker does not generally like music MP3s - I never saw that in the literature, but trial and error suggest that it should be added to the literature for this software.
-The default location for temp and saved DVD files is in your My Videos file.
-When you save a DVD compilation, you are really just saving a TEXT FILE that tells the computer what to play next (it is a laundry list, in order, of your file locations in DOS-like language.)  It is edit-able!
-If you get "locked out" of your DVD file by (among other things) the error that we are discussing here, you can do as I did for a large project that I had 4 hours in and then could not burn -
-I opened the *.msdvd file (see location above) and very carefully deleted just the music files from the text file (opened with the software called Notepad in Accessories in the Start Menu).  Music files are near toward the end of the file.  You
could also find a file (among the sea of file locations in an endless string of file locations) that you think might be cluprit and delete it in this way.  MAKE AN EXTRA COPY OF YOUR DVD COMPILATION FILE BEFORE YOU TRY THIS EDITING, INCASE YOU ACCIDENTALLY
    MAKE IT UNOPENABLE.
-The trouble is that you can only save it then with a *txt suffix by Notepad - so you save it to the same location as your other video files, and then RENAME the file with the *.MSDVD suffix.  Once you do that, the DVD Maker will open the file - and
    the music will be missing.
Use a converter to change your MP3 music to WMA, and re-add the music, and it should work.
The software is glitchy and has unstated rules, but will do the job if you don't deviate.
-I also recommend that you do NOT move any files location nor move folders around between the time you finish your DVD project and the time you burn - it won't find your files if you do, and you'll get error messages and no burn.
-I do not work for MCRSFT (but I recently stayed at a Holiday Inn express...)  bad humor, old commercial.  I bear no responsibility for your loss if you try this and your computer explodes or other calamities.  Just trying to help

  • Error message: Error loading Project _ Invalid project file format

This monring I open dvdsp project and it happen frozen. It became not responding. So I had to force quit. Now I can't open project file. The error message said "Error loading Project _ Invalid project file format". What should I do?

This isn't quite the same issue, but close enough that it must be related:
I was working on a project this morning, added a ton of subtitles and tweaked a jpeg menu (in photoshop). Saved it, closed it down without any issues, and now it won't open. The "Loading Project" box gets 1/4 of the way along and freezes on "Loading Tracks". In Activity Monitor the DSPX_Encoder services are not frozen, although not actually using any CPU power.
Needless to say I don't have a backup...... and I thought that I had achieved a lot this morning.
    Solutions attempted so far:
Disconnected the external hard drive with all the assets in the hope that I could isolate a dodgy file. Masde no difference, so the problem must be within the project file itself.
    Anything else to be done??

  • Saving Projects

I plan to produce about 20 DVD projects. They will fill my HD. I want to make a Project, then store it off the computer, then erase it from my computer HD (including the inputs that made it) to have room to start the next.
I have these options for saving Projects.
    (1) External HD (It will fill quickly depending on how much space a Disk Image takes)
    (2) DVD (I do not know how long DVD's last in storage)
    (3) Play the DVD from the computer onto Hi 8 digital tape (the original video and audio was played from the camera into the computer)
These are DVD's of infant Baptism, likely to be viewed 20-30 years from now.
    ==============
Prior to iDVD I shot the Baptism in Hi 8, played the tape to a VHS copy deck (up to 2 hours), did almost no editing, and made VHS tape copies. The original Hi 8 tape I store and give the VHS tapes. It is fast and easy, but the product is not editied and has no "themes".
    15" G4 Powerbook, 1.67, 2 gig RAM, 80 gig HD   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    15" G4 Powerbook, 1.67, 2 gig RAM, 80 gig HD   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

OK basically you have two different things to consider. The original video footage that you want to preserve and possibly be able to edit later (maybe to add a piece of it to a project detailing the life of someone for example) and then there is the iDVD generated final DVD project, which should be considered a viewing medium only.
Actually I am very much in the same boat as you as I work through a library of old analog Hi8 tapes that I have been importing to iMovie via a Digital8 camcorder. Even with a large external drive, I run out of space and have to clear out previous imports to make room for new ones. So I can not store everything on my hard drive(s) yet (until they get bigger and cheaper). So after importing the analog tape, I do very basic editing (remove errors, shorten overly long scenes, etc.). Once I have an hour's worth of footage ready to go, I then export it back to Digital8 tape as my archive. Tape is cheap and at $2+ dollars a tape, this is short money to preserve my kids baby videos and other family footage. So now I have my new digital master and the old analog is a backup. I then also go to iDVD to create a viewable DVD for the family to be able to pull out and watch, with chapters and everything. Sure beats the old dubbing from Hi8 tape to a VHS tape and watching that!
Now if you want to make a copy of the finished DVD on your hard drive, you can create a disk image which will be the size of a DVD, roughly 4+GB per DVD. Round up to 5GB and you can fit a decent number of these images onto a large external drive. For example, a standard 250GB drive (cheap these days) would, allowing for formatting loss and filling to no more than about 85% of capacity, would hold about 40 DVD images. You can then create additional copies of a DVD from the disk image. But, keep in mind that the DVD is the compressed version and should be considered the viewable version, not the editable version.
If you want to be able to edit in the future, the archive back to digital tape than can be reimported is one way, or with enough hard drive space you can simply keep your iMovie projects saves, but that eat up tons of room (13GB per hour project vs. 5GB for an hour DVD). For now tape is a good way to keep this footage and then when something better comes along that is cheap enough & holds LOTS of gigs, we can migrate our master tapes to that format. But for the short term, that being the next several years, this works out well since you can still purchase new Digital8 camcorders (should ours fail).

  • Saving projects with Transitions and Titles - iMovie 3

Every time I edit a movie in iMovie 3, add transitions and titles, and then save, the next time I open the project, I get a window saying there are x number of stray clips (my transition and title clips) and would I like to move them to the clip panes or leave them alone. Either way, they end up being out of order. Why will they not stay in the edited order that I put them in, even after I hit Save?

I do Save the projects this way and all the clips show up in the edit panel below the clip frames. BUT, none of the Transition or Title clips stay in the edit panel below. Each time I open the saved project, a message window appears saying that there are x number of stray clips (the Transition and Title Clips). Then it asks me if I would like to leave them alone or put them in the clips pane. If I put them in the clips pane, then I have to once again reposition them where they belong in the edit panel below. This happens every time.
