PSE 8 crashes during Find People for Tagging

Face tagging worked reasonably well for me in PSE 7, but since I have upgraded to PSE 8, Find People for Tagging crashes VERY frequently. In fact about 99% of the time if I try to select more than 20 or 30 photos for evaluation. The steps I use are: 1) select 50 ~ 100 photos 2) Find->Find People for Tagging 3) Once the face tagging dialogue window opens, I select "Name More People"
This causes a crash about 99% of the time. Anyone elese seeing this behavior?
I am running PSE 8 on Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with 8G memory.

There is one more option in Auto analyzer preferences>Automatically detect faces.
Turn that Off.

The server is part of a protection group that is co-located, I am trying the backup not as part of a co-located set to see if this makes any difference.
Tape backups for other servers, which are part of the same co-location group, work fine and it seems to be just this one causing the issue.
I have seen a few other posts on the net referencing "WARNING MediaPool 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 does not exist." where people have similar issue with DPM crashing out but so far nobody seems to have any answers.
I am debating removing the protection group and trying to 'start from scratch' but wondered if anyone else had any thoughts ?

Open SQL management studio and connect to the instance used by DPM.
Run the following Query against the DPMDB and see if it returns any rows, if so please provide the output.
select MP.mediapoolid, MP.PGSETID from dbo.tbl_MM_MediaPool MP

InDesign CS4 crashes during "Export Book for Digital Editions"

InDesign CS4 crashes each time I select "Export Book for Digital Editions." I tried deleting my preferences and then creating books that contain only two very simple INDD documents, but I still get this error:

I can export books as EPUB files without problems on my personal laptop, which has InDesign CS5. But we're using CS4 at the office. Any ideas?

Crashing during 'Preparing Video for Display'

I have an hour long, fully edited project that we have been cutting on a dual G4 with 6.0.4.
We now want to bring it over to our 8 core with 6.0.4 for color grading and motion, but every time we open the project it chrashes FCP during the open process when 'preparing video for display'
if we go open it back up on the G4 it is fine.
any thoughts?

Found the solution. It must be a PPC > Intel thing.
On the PPC, open the project and close all sequences except a blank one. SAVE.
Open on Intel, SAVE AS new project file, then reopen.
Should work now when you open up a sequence.

Implementing Boolean operators during find object for qualification

Hi Team
We would like to maintain requirements profiles for PD object (position,job etc.) in terms of qualifications (Q) using complicated boolean operators , for example :
((Q=English>4 OR (Q=French=5 and Q=Spanish>2)) OR (Q=German=6 and english<3) and Q=education # 2
The complicated boolean operators could be also : range,excluded from the range,equal,not equal,not exits.
We would like to execute the search for qualification ,profile matchup based on this complicated boolean requirments profile.
Is there any custom development or configuration to make this happen ?

Is this still true if the Collection generics elements are an interface type? For example, in the
code I sent earlier, I have:

But Authority is an interface that is implemented by the DefaultAuthority class (maybe others
eventually). I was under the impression that in this situation, the metadata does have to provide
the actual type that will be in the collection.
But even if it works in Kodo, one of the requirements of my project is that the JDO implementation
be swapable with JPOX. When I started working on it, both Kodo and JPOX were at a much earlier stage
of implementing JDO 2, and if I recall correctly, JPOX required the implementation class (though I
don't know if it had to be fully qualified). I'm not sure that requirement has been removed from
JPOX yet, though I haven't checked in a while.
Thanks for your help with the default value settings though. Is there any place where I could have
found that behavior documented (Kodo docs, JDO2 spec, etc.)?

PSE8: Find people doesn't work

Hi,
I imported all my pictures in a catalog and then selected "Find->Find People for Tagging"
It worked out a bit and then opened the People Recognition window.
Problem is that what I understood from the help file, it's supposed to show only pictures
with people on them, isn't it?
The resulting window starts at the very first picture of my +10,000 ones and wants me
to browse through them one by one even when they don't have any people (landscape
etc...)
Isn't there a way to tell PSE8 to display only the ones recognized for people tagging?
Those landscape pictures PSE8 wants me to go through do not display any selections
to be recognized by a "Who is this?" or whatever. It looks like for a strange reason
it shows ALL pictures... I don't want to flip through all of them.

Yes, that can be annoying -- overall, the Find People For Tagging command isn't very well designed or implemented.
But the core problem is that face tagging isn't perfect, and it can often miss people entirely, especially if they're not facing the camera, in shade, too small, etc. In those cases, most people would want the chance to click the Add Missing Person button to identify and tag the face. Once you've tagged enough instances of a given person (perhaps 6 or more), you can hit the Name More People button, which will let you review much more quickly the faces that PSE has identified.
Another suggestion: View your thumbnails at a small size and select just those (using control-click) before invoking Find People For Tagging.
In general, I've never found face identification or tagging worthwhile, because I want a high degree of accurracy. After finishing with the automatic tagging, I still have to go back to review all the pics to ensure that PSE hasn't missed any. It's faster simply to tag them the manual way from the Organizer.

2. Have you tried a new Profile? Profiles don't last forever, and after going through a few major version updates "things" slow down, depending upon how much stuff the user has added to Firefox. Personally, I have created a new Profile for every new version of Firefox I have installed, up through Firefox 4.0. Didn't do that for Firefox 5, and probably won't for Firefox 6, due to the new fast release schedule and the fact that Firefox isn't being changed as much from one version to the next as it used to be changed under the 10 to 14 month intervals between major versions.<br />

Combobox for Find and RowsetIterate tag

Hi,
My first question is:
When using a custom data web bean, I recognized that the rowset fetched by getRowset() is not the same rowset that the original
datasource in the jsp page uses. Is this a normal behaviour? That creates a problem when for example I want to carry the navigation
capability into a data webbean, from with the rowset.scrollRange(10); is called.. But the datasource still is in the previous range.
The only work-around I could think is, passing the rowset from the page to the datawebbean, but then what is the use of a datawebbean?
Or simply do I forget to do smt? like stateful, stateless, refreshing...

I am trying to form up a Find bar for a list of items, that I will place on top of list. When the find button is pressed, the where clause
of the data source will be setted. And I hope then the data source on that page will refresh the rowset and only the rows of that criteria will be
available. The content of the find inputs are to be reserved between requests. I want to use a combobox for some columns.(Like the ones of InputSelect tags)
And I want to:

problem in getAttribute("Id") call. I am sure that Id field exists. Can't you mix the tags with a code fragment that tries to get the fields using the rowset of that data source?
I need the current ID value of the row of uv datasource to compare with the previous value, so that "select" will be added to make it seem
that state is reserved.

For the ones that are having similar problems: The problem was; "Id" is fetched as oracle.jbo.domain.Number, and when I cast it to String it crashes. But shouldn't it be more explicitly told instead of Application error:null ??

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.

Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well.

I have no other password to call upon and need the restore to retrieve info onto my phone, I am a real novice to this...... please help, !!!!

If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago. I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago; but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that. With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.

The MessageBundle work well, the problem i think is something with the selectOneMenu.
Help me please.

a) You can't use map for that purpose.
b) You have to create SelectItem objects
c) If you return an array of selectItem on this method condiments, it will go ok.

Flash Builder 4.5.1 for Mac hanging/crashing during startup "Loading Workbench"

Hello,
I'm having ongoing trouble with Flash Builder 4.5.1 hanging/crashing during startup.
Sometimes the following Terminal command fixes the issue:
cd ~/Documents/Adobe\ Flash\ Builder\ 4.5/cascaded/308971/configuration/.settings
rm org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs
However this isn't a silver bullet solution, and sometimes the only way is to uninstall and reinstall FB4.5.
But this is a major hassle, especially after 3 or 4 times!
I am running Mac OS X 10.7 and have updated to FB 4.5.1 Premium and also installed Subversion/Subclipse as well as the BlackBerry PlayBook SDK.
Problems seem to occur when working in SVN projects.
I have also noticed that the Delete and Arrow keys and Right Click fails to work sometimes also.
Is there a way to reset / clear FB 4.5 Prefs / Workbench?

Delete the Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 folder from your Documents (assuming you don't have anything valuable in there). That seemed to work for me, as I don't keep my projects in there but there were some temp files that were breaking it. You'll probably have to re-inport your projects.
Adobe, I'm getting very sick of your (expensive) products wasting my time.

I created a project, and a JavaBean that connects to the database and I want to use it in a JSP page that exists in my project.
Bean:

Seems even though I have an import, I still have to specify the package name in front of the useBean.
What am I missing here?
