PsElements10 - Brush Options, Hue Jitter

I lately installed PSElements 10 (on Windows 7), and i'm observing something i don't understand with the brushes Hue Jitter Option.
The official definition for Brush Option - Hue Jitter is :
"Sets the rate at which the stroke color switches between the foreground and background colors. Higher values cause more frequent switches between the two colors than lower values."
And that's usually how it works.
Example => basic brush, foreground color : red; background color: green; when hue jitter is at 0, the drawed line is red; when Hue Jitter is >0, the drawed line switches from red to green. No problem.
But then, i choose a special Brush (the Butterflies, for an example) => The appear in many different colors (not only red and green)
That's a special Brush (and the Hue Jitter isn't doing anything with this Brush), well ok.
And finally, i switch back to the basic Brush, and now the "Many different Colors" from the butterflies seem to be inherited by this basic brush, no way to make the Hue Jitter Option work again between foreground and background color.
Is this a bug ?

Elements can be buggy from time to time as far as the brush settings go because those brushes were probably made in the full photoshop version, which has more options for varying the colors of a brush (color dynamics).
In later versions of elements that is the wrong name for that option (hue jitter). It's actually color jitter as it's properly named in photoshop elements 2.
In photoshop elements if you have the Keep these settings for all Brushes checked, then the options from one brush will carry on to the next.
(If your using a tablet things may act strange from brush to brush if you have some of the dynamic settings enabled in Brush Tablet Options)
Also sometimes the settings get "stuck" so you may have to reset the Brush Tool, which is probably what's happening in your case.

  • Other Dynamics brush option in CS 5

Hey, I have CS3 on one computer and CS 5 on another. On CS3 my dynamic brush options have a section called 'Other Dynamics' that allows me to change jitter opacity, but my CS5 does not have that option in the same area.
Does CS5 not have 'Other Dynamics' for brushes or is it just somewhere else?
    Thanks

Adobe is following in Microsoft's foot steps they seem to want to drive their users crazy or up the wall  by changing names and locations of things. They don't worry too much about braking actions that might use a menu Item they rename or remove. Try Transfer brush option.

  • Can't see my Brush Options in PSE4 (WIN)

Just bought and installed PSE4. I am trying to play around with the brushes, but I can't see where to change the brush options. I was told it was beside the tablet options (in the upper right hand corner), but that is so far to the right there is nothing after it.
Can anyone help me? Pretty please!

  • CS4 drag-resize brush option problem

In CS4 the drag-to-resize brush option should display as red (the brush preview default color) but no color shows up. Nor with the drag-to-set-hardness shortcut either. Both shortcuts work. I cannot see the hardness change on screen but a quick check of the brushes indicates that it did indeed work. Just no color indicator for either shortcut.

    Thanks,

John, some info please. Are you using the right mouse button plus Alt key? When changing the hardness, I have to hold the Shft key first and then the Alt key before I click and drag with the right mouse button. I am using Vista Ultimate 64 but that shouldn't make any difference. When some of these little irritants pop up, I usually restart PS and delete the preferences to see if anything changes. Just a suggestion.

    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.

  • Wet Edges brush option in Elements 11?

I'm trying to find the wet edges option which is in a lot of tutorials for watercolor brushes but I can't find any tool options for it.

You are looking at tutorials for Photoshop, where almost everything has more settings than are available in PSE. There is no wet edges, which is why you can't find it.

  • CS3 brushes w/Angle jitter set to 'Direction' crash ps everytime.

For months my custom brushes have been crashing ps in under 12 brush strokes. At first I though it might be because the TPL files were corrupt. I went back into CS2 and converted all the brush TPL files to ABR and reimported to CS3 -no change.
Then support suggested one of the files was corrupt so I went back to CS2 and save the brushes out one by one and brought them into CS3 one by one testing and taking notes on each.
In every crash the brush that was used had 'Angle jitter' set to 'Direction'. I dble checked my findings by using a default brush first with nothing but 'smoothing' checked. This worked beautifully for over an hour with no crash. Then I saved the file and changed the Angle jitter on the brush to 'Direction'. It took only 7 brush strokes to crash ps with only 'photoshop has unexpectedly quit' as an error message.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Can anyone else reproduce the issue or is this unique to me?
    I use Mac OSX 10.5.6 with CS3 design premium I have 23Gb RAM and a 1TB HD
Please forgive me if this has been discussed I searched the FAQ's and the current posts first. I didn't find anything that fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On a hunch I installed the intuos on my old G5 with CS2 to see if it was an issue with the intuos and maybe not CS3. I could paint with the brush set to Direction until my heart was content -no problems at all.
I tried to install my old graphire on the Mac Pro with CS3 but it wont work with the intel chip.
So instead I went back to the Mac mouse and happily scribbled away with the brush set to Direction for as long as my wrist could take it.
Now I know that the problem is with the Intuos 3 on CS3 but I installed the latest drivers a week ago.
Is there anyone that could test this out for me? Or is it unique to me?
I'll try reinstalling the tablet software, maybe something went wrong the first time.

  • Brush Options in Flash CS3 not showing up

Hello. I'm using Flash CS3 and I'm not able to see all of the
options for the Brush tool. I don't have the pressure-sensitive
option or the tilt option. Is there something I need to download or
click on to get these options? I'm not sure why I don't have them
available to me..my tool palette ends at the brush size and shape
options at the bottom. Any ideas please?

    jgleica,
    > I tried that but it must be the biggest it can get.
    there's no
    > arrows or indicator it can be resized further in the
    corners

Woops, it's the Flash CS4 Tools panel that has more resizing
    options.
In Flash CS3, you should at least be able to adjust the width
    of the Tools
panel (click the very top, in the area of the panel that has
    double arrows).
The wider version of that panel gives it two columns, and
    shortens it --
which might just show your missing buttons.
    > There's just empty space there. Is there an extension
    pack
    > or something I should've downloaded maybe?
There may be updates since Flash CS3 was originally
    released, but there
aren't any extension packs that add graphics tablet choices
    to the Tools
panel: they're definitely supposed to be there, and Flash CS3
    shipped with
those buttons in the original release.
What happens if you select Default from the Workspace
    dropdown?

  • Calligraphic brush options

Only "fixed" and "random" options work. All the others are grayed out. Any idea why?

It works now! Thank you so much, Shrastogi!
Could you please help me with one more thing? Does the variable width profile work with calligraphic brushes? I have been trying to change the width and I do not see any variation in terms of how the brush looks like. Any idea how to use the variable width with calligraphic brushes?
    Thanks again!

  • No pressure sensitivity button in brush options in flash cc

i have been using flash for the past 2 weeks and have been unable to access the option to enable pressure sensitivity for my wacom tablet. I have tried resizing the windows and restarting flash and i have had no luck

That's probably a driver issue and not Flash. try reinstalling your driver, or maybe go to the previous one instead. Also there is a thing called the Feel it driver on Wacom's site that might work for you.

  • Brush options missing

Hi, since CS6 there are no options for pressure anymore. I use a wacom tablet intuous4. Does anyone have the same problem?

I experienced the problem until I re-installed the Wacom system preference app. I would suggest reinstalling it and see if the pressure options reappear.

  • Can i adjust pressure sensitivity options for tools other then paint brush?

Greetings all, i'm new to Photoshop elements and this forum, could someone help me with this problem please!!!!!!
Is there a way to adjust the pressure sensitve options opacity, scatter, hue jitter e.t.c for tools other then the paint brush such as the dodge and burn tool?
I'm wanting to use the dodge and burn tools with say a chalk brush but set the pressure sensitivity of my tablet to opacity, i can do this for the paint brush by using the tablet options drop down menu but the option doesn't seem to be avaiable for  tools such as the eraser, dodge and burn and smudge tools.
I've tryed the brushes from the Pressure Sensitive set but there is no chalk brush in the Pressure Sensitive brush set that effects opacity and you can't adjust what settings are effected for each pressure sensitive brush when using tools other then the Paint Brush.
Can anyone help me with this as i've tryed everything i can think of.

I guess the easiest way would be to select the paint brush tool
and using the brush of your choice, set those options you want
    and save the brush.
Then when you select a tool such as the burn tool, select your brush.
The one option that won't apply is the hue jitter (you can't use hue jitter or
color dynamics in the full version of photoshop either for most other tools
    aside from the brush tool)

  • Brush Tool Options

In the Product Help section of Photoshop Elements 4.0 it mentions using the More Options menu in the Options Bar to change the brush dynamics such as spacing, hue jitter, etc. When I'm using a brush, More Options does not appear in the Options Bar, only Tablet Options appears. Is it possible to change the brush dynamics in PSE 4 and if so, where do I find the More Options option? Sorry if this makes no sense.

Two and a half years later, Trish, your answer's still good. With my new MacBook Pro I finally stepped up to PSE 6 (after several years on a G3 iBook with PSE 2, in which I probably never used the spacing feature, or at least I didn't remember it -- if PSE2 even had it). I had this brush spacing problem, which I'd never seen in PSE2. Adobe's Help docs didn't help much, because first, they don't say WHERE to find the Options menu (which I found eventually by poking around), and second, my Spacing showed no control adjustment. Finally, with more searching, your point here -- reset the tool -- solved my problem. I'll keep that in mind next time something gets inexplicably screwy. Thanks!

  • BRUSH: Angle Jitter- Direction problem when using Rotate View

(Photoshop CS5 Extended, MAC OSX) When using the brush tool(with angle jitter set to Direction), an error  pops up when also rotating view.  As long as the canvas is at its  default orientation(ie, rotate view tool has not been used), the brush paints along its path appropriately.  If  I've rotated the view, however, each instance of the brush's preset/tip  does not adjust for the new orientation of the canvas.  (note:  this was not an issue in CS4)
eg: if the brush's preset looks like this (a small horizontal dash):
    - when painting as I've described, it should follow a straight line like  this (and does, as long as I have not used the Rotate View tool): ------------------------ however, if Rotate View is used to rotate the canvas by 90 degrees, it instead paints like this: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Actual Screenshots: Brush Presets:
     Brush Options:
     Painting @ 0 degree rotation
     Rotate 90 degrees
     draw
     Rotate to 139 degrees
     draw

Oh, and just to be clear - this is a request for help/solutions
