Publish site to .mac using dreamweaver

Hey guys!
Can anyone give me a detailed description of how to post a site made in Dreamweaver to my .mac?
I understand I need to save the site locally, to my desktop for instance, and then deposit those files to my .mac. But where exactly do they go? And what files need to be there? Once they are there, when I visit my http://web.mac.com/yoursitehere page, will the dreamweaver created site start showing up? With flash included?
My basic idea is to use my GoDaddy registered domain, forward it to my http://web.mac.com/yoursitehere page, and create a sweet site in Dreamweaver using a template from www.templatemonster.com with flash and lots of hooha. Basically using my .mac as my hosting. Anyone done this and have the fool-proof method? I love tutorials...
Thanks! Yay team!
Tyler

Dreamweaver will create a site within a folder.
If I were going to try it I would open my idisk and drag the dreamweaver site folder to it.
Not sure how you would, or if you can use ftp to idisk. If there is a way dreamweaver or other ftp program would be able to update changes without uploading the whole site again or manually finding the added or changed files and dragging them in.
If it's not a huge site probably not a big deal. It would be nice to be able to do it directly from Dreamweaver, but again not sure it it's possible.
Perhaps someone will jump in with the answer.
Don't guess you would have to put it where Iweb puts them, but I think I would anyway. idisk/web/sites/.
Address should be the similar to a iweb site. web.mac.com/ushername/sitename/index.html
I think that should work, if addressing is correct.
You could create a page, stick it there and see what happens.
Forwarding should be no problem.
good luck
I understand that [http://www.panic.com/transmit> will work with idisk to avoid using the finder.
Idisk uses webdav and does not allow ftp
just looked at transmit. Looks pretty cool. Has a menu option for idisk. Pops it right up and has a sync feature. Looks like with the doctor ordered.

  • How can I import a non-BC site into BC, using Dreamweaver CC, and then use it as one of my free sites?

I am trying to import one of my non-BC sites into BC, using Dreamweaver CC, and then use it as one of my free WebBasics sites.
When I try to create a new BC site in Dreamweaver CC, it creates a BC template site, and I have unsuccessfully tried to update the files on BC - it won't let me connect.
If I import the site from my portal, I don't get the option of a free site - when I try to upgrade, I get the credit card form asking for payment.
I feel like I'm running around in circles with one foot nailed to the floor.
    Any tips?

Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion.  I'm exporting the first section now.  I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie.  I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame?  If it can, what size should I select when I export?

  • How to Publish to the web using Dreamweaver

    hi,
I'm a graphic designer with little code knowledge.
I keep uploading my "deploy to web" folder using dreamweaver to my web host but I keep getting and error message, I know somethings up when even dreamweaver can't preview the "main.html" file, I don't know what to do, any ideas?
(dreamweaver can only preview the "main.html" from the "run-local" folder probably because it's local).
    thanks for the help

    Hello,
Your suspicion is correct. Catalyst needs to load some resources in order to run your project. For security reasons, these resources can be loaded from your computer, or from the internet, but not both.
When running on your computer, the run-local .swf loads these resources, as well as any external resources in your project (videos, swfs, etc) from your local hard drive. So it will preview correctly in Dreamweaver.
However, when you publish your website to the internet, your Catalyst .swf needs to load resources from the internet, and therefore you need to use the deploy-to-web version.
Let me know if you have any more problems.

  • Question - Y do my fonts look slightly different when publish site to .mac?

I've created a website on iWeb but when i publish it and view it in safari the fonts look slightly different. It's hard to explain but they basically just look worse. Can anyone let me know why this might be and how i could fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac, launch iWeb and republish.
You should really convert any text done in "copperplate" to an image. Otherwise it will be converted to an (ugly) alternative on any computer that doesn't have this font installed.

  • CS3 File Can't Be Opened using Dreamweaver 8

Just wondering if anyone out there has been able to open an
HTML file generated with Dreamweaver CS3 (PC) using Dreamweaver 8
    on a Mac?
When the CS3 user edits and saves an HTML file, the
Dreamweaver 8 user cannot open on our server.
We will be upgrading the Mac software in a few months but
have a need now to have two people edit the same files. One is on a
PC using Dreamweaver CS3 and the other is on a Mac using
    Dreamweaver 8.
Are there settings in CS3 to maximize compatibility with
    older versions?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Couldn't imagine that would do it, though, since DW is not
    rendering any of
    that.

  • Choosing between Team Site and Publishing Site

Does publishing site has all the features of a Team site?

It depends on your requirements when it comes to choosing Team site and publishing site, you will use team site for collaboration and publishing site for managing pages. publishing sites are particularly aimed to internet facing sites. You can check below

  • Publishing a Unique Site Using Dreamweaver CS6 and Business Catalyst

What are the steps to publishing a unique site using Business Catalyst with Dreamweaver? By "unique site" I mean not using Business Catalyst templates, but rather my own original site design and directory. Also, does Business Catalyst support flash based sites? I tried to start a new BC site using one of my flash based sites and it wouldn't show up in the preview, but rather resorted to using a layout of one of the BC templates. I can't find any information on how this all works as a Creative Cloud subscriber. For example, you provide "learn more" links from the website seciton on the CreativeCloud default subsriber's page, but when I click on that there is no relative information other than some videos about Muse and Dreamweaver, but nothing on how I can use either of those apps as integrated with publishing sites on Business Catalyst. There is a BC help page: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst.html?promoid=IMJLB but this is in context of being a BC member, not a Creative Cloud subsriber so all of the information doesn't relate, especially if someone want to publish a unique site using Creative Cloud.

  • Making changes to a published site using a different Mac.

I published a site last year using the previous version of iWeb. I now have iWeb '09 and want to make changes to the site published. I have no access to the original files, only what is on my iDisk. I don't see a way to download those files, open them in iWeb and make changes to them. is this possible or will I have to start over?

iWeb cannot import published files. You need to have a copy of the original domain file.
You can however use the published files to help you build the new site.....

  • Can I create & publish site for another .Mac user?

My wife is a .Mac member and I piggybacked a .Mac e-mail address through her account. Now I'm trying to help my father, a recent Mac convert and .Mac member, by creating a website for him with my version of iWeb 08. When I open iWeb on my computer (first time as I've always used Dreamweaver to create websites), I'm locked out of pretty much everything (I'm assuming because I'm not a full .Mac member which it's somehow linking to). If I have my father's .Mac info, can I create a site for him and upload it for him on my computer, and if so, how would I do this?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    ~Chris

All you need to do to post to his .Mac account is find out what his .Mac username and password are and input them into the .Mac pane of System Preferences. That will give iWeb access to his .Mac space. If you end up getting your own .Mac at a later time, you will have to change that info in System Prefs.
I created a separate user on my computer for a 2nd website that I publish for my church. That way I keep all the iWeb and .Mac account info separate without having to jump through any hoops - I just have to switch users.

  • How do I publish using Dreamweaver?

I can't find a "publish" button. How do I publish my first website from Dreamweaver?

    Hello,
you could use DW's FTP program. Go to Site->Manage Sites.
To be able to be independent in all this things it is one of the reasons why I prefer an external FTP program, because I for my part search for experts, I don't charge a "jack of all trades".
To manage several websites or to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server or to use a "a site-wide synch", I'm using FileZilla. It simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure.
Above all, FileZilla has a feature (translation from my German FileZilla) called "compare file list". Here it's possible to use file size or modification time as a criterion. There is also the possibility to "hide identical files", so that only these files which you want to redact remain visible.
And even if it means you have to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:
    http://filezilla-project.org/ and http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Tutorial#Using_the_site_manager
Mac: Mac OS X (Use: Show additional download options)
    http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
Of course, you also need all the access data to reach your server and for MIME issues, you should contact your web host/provider.
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
    P.S.
Since I use two screens, the whole thing became even more comfortable.

  • Why is my published site not operational when using Firefox or IE?

The original problem I experienced had to do with the fact that my published site's navigation bar was totally missing on each page and replaced with a "period" as described by the following thread... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9899999&#9899999
The weird thing is that this problem only exists when using IE or Firefox on a PC (at work). Site is 100% operational using Safari on a Mac (at home).
Thinking my iWeb files were corrupt, I uninstalled and reinstalled iWeb '08. After doing so, I republished my site. The good news: the nav bar is now present on each page and operational. The bad news: my photo pages and blog page have zero content other than the header banner and nav bar. Again, this problem only exists when accessing the published site using IE or Firefox on a PC. The site is fully operational and all photos/blog entries present when accessing the site using Safari on my Mac.
What gives? Did a recent iWeb update (intended for iWeb 09 users or intel-based macs) corrupt my iWeb '08 on my PowerBook G4?

Please note that Java and Javascript are not related. iWeb uses a lot
of Javascript, not Java. There may be some issues with the Javascript
generated by iWeb -- I don't know. If it seems to work for someone
and not for someone else then it is an issue at the browser end, not
the website end. Each browser may not be handling the Javascript in
exactly the same way. (You gotta love standards.)

  • Set Contribute up on site and can no longer connect using Dreamweaver

Today I set up Contribute to be used on my site so that somebody else could make minor changes on their computer. But the next time I tried to make changes using Dreamweaver on my computer I got the message "An FTP error ocurred - cannot make connection to host. Your login and password is incorrent. Please check your connection information." I know the ftp log in info is correct because it was what I used with Contribute. I have tried toogling some of the different settings, including enabling Contribute compatibility, but nothing has worked. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Thanks!

    Just to get our bearings:
    Mac or PC?
Which version of DW? Which version of Contribute?

  • How to use Dreamweaver instead of Site Builder

I created a website using Dreamweaver and used its FTP capability to upload the files.  I used the settings (HOST NAME: ftpmysite.verizon.net, User Name: your user ID (e.g. - jsmith), PASSWORD: your password) that were published here.. http://www.verizon.net/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&action=FAQ&_pageLabel=pws_content#wlp_pws_conte...
Dreamweaver uploaded the files and the Web Space Monitor lists all of the files but they are not accessible using my personal URL (http://mysite.verizon.net/username).  In the Disk Space tool in Site Builder shows the files under a category of "Other Files (including system files)."
How can I get my website to be active through my personal URL without using Site Builder?

Is the main page file listed as index.htm or index.html?
When web designing, it doesn't matter if it's either .htm or .html. Just as long as every other page that you DO link the index file to that it's consistent.
For example, I cannot have on another page:
    <a href="index.htm">Text here</a>
When the original index file is a .html
So long as you're consistent when linking each file to the original index it should be fine. The Suffix that it has really hasn't mattered for years.
If you use 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please' I'm going to say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes.'

  • Using Dreamweaver to create AIR app from HTML site, FLV loaded by placed SWF not loading

    Hello.
I'm using Dreamweaver to create an HTML-based site that has pages with FLV-based videos that are loaded using a SWF file. The SWF file is just the player / skin. When I preview or publish to AIR, the videos do not show up. I'm sure others have asked how to accomplish this but I'm having difficulty finding the solution to this issue. Can someone share with them their solution please?
    Thank you!
    Robert

Steveejay, I was having the same problem. It turns out that
mine didn't like the fact that I was using the "POST" method in my
loadMovie() call. I changed them to "GET", and it works fine in the
web page now. Just doesn't work when previewing in Flash.

  • Is it possible to publish one site to mac site and another site to a school

I have an "About me" page which I wish students to have access to - but I don't want them to have access to the rest of my site - can I publish either just the "about me" page to a different school server or can I create a new site with just an about me page and publish that site to my school server and my personal site to mac site?

    Yes.
The easiest way is to use separate domain.sites2 files. There are several sites that offer instructions for doing this. One is Apnewbie's Site Separation help page.
