Publishing iCal in an iWeb '08 Site Using IFRAME

To a great extent, the IFRAME approach brings in the iCal web page nicely.
However, one problem remains.
The iCal calendar which is included within my iWeb page using HTML Snippet is cut off. Regardless of what I do in the IFRAME parameters, the right-most 50 pixels or so just won't show up. What I get is everything I want except *the right half of "Sunday" simply don't appear*. It's not that I need to scroll over. The right half of those right-most boxes just don't show up.
*Does anyone have a simple solution to this problem?* Thanks, Travis

  • Redirecting iWeb created site using GoDaddy

I created a website through iWeb and bought a domain name through GoDaddy. I uploaded all my files to my account on GoDaddy -- but for some reason my website doesn't work. My domain name is www.ericmolinsky.com and the iWeb folder was called Pieces and Podcasts. When I type in my domain name, this is what appears in the URL:
    http://www.ericmolinsky.com/Eric%20Molinsky/Pieces%20and%20Podcasts/Pieces%20and %20Podcasts.html
The customer service rep at GoDaddy told me that everything is directed properly on the GoDaddy site, the problem is within iWeb. I need to "remove the redirect" problem on my Mac.
I'm concerned the problem is that I named my project with spaces, Pieces and Podcasts instead of piecesandpodcasts. And my folder in iWeb is Eric Molinsky, rather than ericmolinsky. If I rename everything without spaces, will I have to start over and upload everything to the ftp site? It took three hours the last time, with all the visual and audio files, not to mention the extra time on the phone with customer service reps.
Also, the folks at GoDaddy asked me to rename my html file, index.html. But I read that could cause a problem as well.
    Any suggestions???

Basically that's what I did. I uploaded the folder created by iWeb and the index.html file but I used Fetch rather than Cyberduck. The files were definitely intact in my Go Daddy account.
The customer service rep thought that I needed to remove the "redirect" problem in iWeb. For some reason, it wasn't directing all the information straight to my domain name. That didn't make sense to me, but she was by far the most knowledgeable person I spoke with over there.
I uploaded all my files to my
    account on GoDaddy
It may be that you did not do this correctly. You
must use a real ftp program like Cyberduck. Did you?
Then you must upload just two items: The folder
produced by iWeb which has the same name as your
site does inside the iWeb app, plus the index.html
file published alongside that folder. When you
upload the folder, its contents (including another
folder called Pieces and Podcasts) should be
    uploaded automatically.
I don't think spaces matter with Godaddy and there is
nothing you should change with the structure or files
    that iWeb produces.

  • Can I add a slide show to my iWeb created site using MobileMe

    Hi there,
What I want to do is to create a folder with a load of pictures of me in them and then add them to the Home Page of my website, so that when people visit my website all the pictures play as an automatic slideshow at the top of the page and automatically scroll through all the pictures in that set.
I have created my website in iWeb 09 and it is published on MobileMe, I really hope that someone can help me because I really want this to work. At the minuet I can add MobileMe photo albums but I cant get them to play as an automatic slideshow and just scroll through all the pictures (without having to open any separate windows or anything)
    Huge thanks for you help

Jason ~ The following two suggestions don't involve MobileMe...
Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com
    ...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.
Then iWeb > Media button > Movies tab ...drag in your movie created above by iPhoto.
Then iWeb > Inspector > QuickTime tab ...settings.
Note: The above generates a QT slideshow of small file size and thus appears quickly in a web browser.
An alternative approach (that doesn't require QT to be installed on the viewer's computer) is to set up a slideshow at weebly.com — open a free account there and then embed your Weebly slideshow page in your iWeb page:
Embedding a Site Within an iWeb Page
To see a Weebly looping slideshow, see the third example here:

  • Remove existing website content and replace with iweb 08 site

    Hi
I have an existing website (not iweb) on personal domain name that needs complete overhaul - I want to replace it with an iweb 08 site using same personal domain name. I am new to the mac world having converted a few months ago - also don't know html code etc.
How do I remove the existing web content to make way for the iweb site using the same domain name - do I download folder using cyberduck and delete content from public_html folder - will this clear the way for new site to be published via iweb and .mac ??
    Any help and guidance appreciated
    Thanks

I think what you are asking might be better put this way:
"When published, will my current Domain name automatically go to the new site, and if not, what do I need to do to make it so?"
The answer is no, it won't. If Web City is also your Domain name registrar, then you will either have to transfer it for use with .Mac, or forward the Domain to the .Mac url.
I have not personally transferred any of my Domain names to .Mac, but I don't believe it is hard to do. You can go into System Preferences on your machine, click on the .Mac icon, navigate to "Account info/Personal Domain", and go from there.
There are many here who have already done this so I'm sure someone will chime in and lend a hand if you run into difficulties.

  • Can you change the DEFAULT VIEW of a published iCal to MONTH VIEW?

Can you change the DEFAULT VIEW of a published iCal to MONTH VIEW? I use this for a vacation rental and people never ever ever ever need to see anything but the MONTH VIEW. I hate having to tell them to click MONTH view at the top of the page. Is there a way to force it to always appear in MONTH? Thanks!

    ddotcom,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Unfortunately no, but if they are repeat viewers why not tell them to change their view to "Monthly" using the "Preferences" button on that page?

  • Publish an iWeb site using Lion Server

Does any one know how to publish an iWeb site using Lion Server.
I've been getting failures every time I try to publish using ftp server choise.
    HELP!!!

I solved this by turning off passive mode. I was using iWeb and Rapid Weaver for creating websites and had the same problem. Now they both work fine on the transfer. Hope this helps.

  • Re-publish site using 3rd party FTP Client-Changes are not visible

I uploaded my Iweb site to the server using FileZilla. When I make changes in I-web and republish, the changes are not visible. I even tested it out by deleting the site folder and re-uploading everything after I re-published the site in IWeb...but the change still isn't visible. Any suggestions as to why?

Apparently you publish to a folder.
    iWeb's job is done!
What you do next with the files is your responsibility.
Try uploading the changed files to their respective folders on the server.
You can identify the changed files by the date/time.
Then in the browser, clear the cache and reload the page.
    iWeb is not involved.

  • IWeb '08 Site - Published to MobileMe Account - Not Viewable by Others

I'm new to iWeb. I created a simple site with a few pages, and then "Published All" to MobileMe. When I view the site, it looks fine. When others try, they get the "Are you looking for something on MobileMe?" page. I have looked at the "site inspector" to be sure that the site is not "private".
I've been reading and reading and can't find a solution. Is there a trick to this?

I got to your site using both of those addresses.
People are probably missing a dash or missing the correct capitalizations. If any of those capitalized letters are typed in lowercase you get that "looking for something" page.
If you want people to be able to type in a simple web address to get to your site, you probably need to acquire a simpler domain name ( from Go Daddy for instance) and then point it to your mobile me account.
I have two domain names registered: www.phelpssculpture.com & www.phelpsculpture.com ( one has two s's and one has only one) these are registered with Go Daddy and point to my mobileme website:
    http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Site/home.html
So on a business card I can put the simpler PhelpsSculpture.com and people reach my site by typing that into there web browser. The capitalization doesn't seem to matter on the GoDaddy shortened address, but it does seem to matter if you miss capitalize the mobileme address.
    Hope this helps,
    David

  • Does anyone know how to publish a site using Lion server.

I have made a web site using I web and was trying to publish it using FTP and lion server but was quite sure were to find the server address and other required info.
If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

You shouldn't need to use ftp to publish a site when using a server, this is the whole point, that you are not uploading anywhere external, but are hosting yourself on a dedicated computer running a server.
This is not really the place to ask.  There should be more forums here that are specially dedicated to Lion server issues.
Try looking at the pages on the Apple site under info on Lion server and there should be a user manual for you to look at for Lion sever.  Try looking at this.
This is an iWeb forum so not really the right place to ask questions regarding server issues.

  • Editing a web site using windows that was made with iweb using a MAC

I published my web site using iweb with my MBP, but at times would like to edit it when I'm running windows. Anyone know how to do it?

You can't. To edit a site created by iweb, you must be using a mac with iweb installed and also with the Domain file installed that was used to create the site.
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebdata.html
Of course you can mess with the html and other files created by iWeb with any app you please, but any changes will be overwritten if you republish from iWeb later.

  • Can't publish iCal in iWeb after updating.

I recently updated to the new iCal but now I am unable to publish my calendar to my web site through iWeb? Help me please.

If the files are in your sites folder, then iWeb will never be able to open them because they contain your published site.  iWeb has no import facility so is unable to open html pages - a previously published site.
You need the data storage file called domain.sites to be able to access your site again.  This can be found under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Find this file and double click it and iWeb will open it.
Note that you need to look in your User Library and not your System Library, as you won't find iWeb there.

  • Publishing error - unable to publish iWeb 08 site

After re-making my 30 page site using iWeb 08 due to it destroying my iWeb 07 Domain file - I have tried repeatedly to publish the new site without success. Usually I wait 1.5 hrs while the progress bar goes slowly around, then I invariably get a message saying there ways an "error connecting to the server or network error". It takes 1.5 hrs to tell me this?
However I clearly am connected to the .Mac server because I get the message earlier on stating that "publishing will continue in the background". Somehow the .Mac server doesn't accept the Domain file. I have published the Domain to a folder on my desktop and the site works fine on the browser when I launch it using the index html file.
I have sent several iWeb feedback messages concerning this problem so hopefully the boffins will fix it. I have no intention of renewing my .Mac subscription if the Domain file can't actually be published.
If anyone out there is experiencing the same problem please let me know.

It's hit or miss with me. My web site is about 30 pages, and about every 4th or 5th time I publish, I get either a "Publish Error. An unknown error occurred." or something about a locked file, try again later. It usually is fixed by choosing to Publish All to .Mac and enduring the 30 minutes or so it takes to process. This last time, however, it got done with the upload (about 100MB) and looked fine. Next time I tried to update one page: bang.
I'm publishing a blog so the situation can only get worse as pages accumulate.
There is clearly something wrong and clearly somebody is grasping at straws trying to fix it. Until the engineers at Apple figure out what the problem is and releases a definitive patch, I think we're out of luck.

  • Synchronizing 2 sites using iweb

    Hello everyone,
I have already created a site using iweb & now need to create another one for another business of mine.
How do i synchronize it with Mobileme as i already have a personal domain listed?
    Please Help!!!!
    Thank You.

Here's how to have multiple sites in a single MMe account with one or more sites having a domain name.
    A. All sites are in the same Domain.sites2 files
1 - only one site can use the CNAME method of domain name forwarding and it must  the top site in the left hand pane of iWeb.
2 - the other sites must use URL domain name forwarding which directs the domain name to the site's full MMe URL, http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Site_Name,  or, if there is no domain name, just MobileMe's full URL.
    B. Each site is in its own Domain.sites2 file.
Again, only one site can use CNAME forwarding.  This presents a problem since CNAME forwarding directs the domain name to the basic MMe account URL: http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/ which uses an index.html file in the root folder of the account, iDisk/Web/Sites. Each time a new site is published or an existing site uses the File->Publish Entire Site a new index.html file is created in that root directory, iDisk/Web/Sites folder, directing the browser to that particular site.  This file is what the CNAME method uses to find the site it represents.  Therefore some steps must be taken to assure that the index.html file in the MMe Accounts root directory always points to the correct site.  This can be accomplished is three ways.
1 - don't use the CNAME method.  Just use  URL forwarding .  This, IMO, is the simplest method as it doesn't requre any additional effort on the user once the domain name has been set up.
2 - use the following method suggested by Wyodor in this topic: Is it possible to have multiple sites when using ur Domain name?
    In iWeb domainfile 1:
Create a dummy site : _dummy
    with a blank page.
Create your working site : Whatever
    Add pages
Publish both Sites to the same same location on the same server.
Your _dummy site is now the default Site.
    Check.
    In iWeb domainfile 2:
    Create/Use your CurrentSite.
Move a page to the top of the Site and back. Publish the Site.
iWeb will create a new index.html file in the root of the server and from now on CurrentSite is the default site.
    Check.
From now on, never move your Whatever Site to the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar and never change the page in the _dummy site.
Simply do not touch your _dummy ever again. And never forget that.
3 - use Ethmoid's suggested method in Using two sites - setting one up with separate domain? or republishing the entire site that uses  CNAME forwarding.  Just making a minor change and publishing the site changes does not create a new index.html file.
The entire site must be republsihing in order to get that new site.
Or keep a copy of the CNAME site's index.html file on your Mac and replace it manually in the iDisk/Web/Sites fodler when necessary.
NOTE:  the CNAME method provides a shorter URL:  http://www.Domain_Name.com/Site_Name/Page_Name.  CNAME does not have masking.
The URL forwarding displays the full MMe URL:   http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Domain_Name/Page_Name.   With domain name masking that will be shortened to:   http://www.Domain_Name.com for every page of your site.
However, with masking visitors will only be able to bookmark and enter at the first page of the site.  If a page is refreshed the visitor is taken back to the first page.  Also search engines will only be able to index the first page of the site.
Just a thought:  since MobileMe will be discontinued next June 30, 2012, you might start looking for a new host to put your sites on. I'm familar with HostExcellence.com which has a couple of package specials which include free domain names. One for $8/mo with 3 free names and one for $4/mo with one free name.   There are others with similar offers.  HE has excellent 24/7 ear-to-ear customer support.

  • IWeb 08 site not viewable using Internet Explorer

I have had feedback from friends using Internet Explorer saying that when they try to view my site their browser freezes and can't open the page. It works fine when using Safari.
I have seen a number of posts regarding this issue and am wondering if there is a straightforward fix, or whether we will have to wait for Apple on this one?
Has anyone been able to test an iWeb 08 created site using IE?
    Thanks,
    M&C

Can you be more specific and tell us what version of IE, I am assuming they are on Windows too. My assumption is that the most current version will work fine—have not tested it in full—but pervious version of IE have not played well with web standards. Currently, all of my content from iWeb06 works fine with IE (going on assumption because I have only tested it a few times on IE, I think it was version 6 or 7). I have not created anything new with iWeb08, so I have not had a chance to test it.
Best fix: Tell your friends to use FireFox.
