Publising only 1 of many sites

Hello All!
I have created multiple sites using iWeb - as I can easily publish material that I don't want to go to .Mac to its own folder and upload it through a separate ftp server.
Even though I created multiple sites, I want 1 of my 3 iWeb sites to publish to .Mac - but I can't figure out how to do it without publishing all 3 to .Mac.
How can I publish only 1 of my multiple sites on iWeb to .Mac???

I have 3 "sites" on iWeb - you can create "new site"
under file, and re name them separately.
ALL of them are in ONE Domain.sites package.
1 of the 3 I want to publish to .Mac, the other 2 I
already publish to a folder on my computer and upload
to their own FTP sites.
How do I get that 1 last site to publish to .Mac,
without publishing the last 2 to .Mac?

Java takes too long to load if java.policy has many sites to grant acess to

The problem is that we noticed that the time Java takes to load when it's invoked by any applet from the very first time on IE, is directly proportional to the size of the java.policy file.
You can have many sites to grant access to inside your java.policy file. As you know, it's typically done like this:
grant codeBase "http://<url>/<dir>/*" {
permission java.security.AllPermission;
The more entries I add to this file, the slower the performance gets (as of java loading time).
We have more than 10 entries on our java.policy file, and we are getting a 40-seconds penalty time each time java is loading.
Having gone further with this problem, we have discovered that time is being lost when Java is trying to resolve (netBios and DNS) ALL of the sites specified on the java.policy file, BEFORE running any applet of ANY site (when Java loads). We cannot understand why Java is trying to resolve those names, even though you are not trying to visit them....
Is there a workaround for this issue ?
We've tried to:
a) Use IP's instead of names on the java.policy: this resolves the problem but it creates another one: IP maintenance. It's not applicable because IP's can change without notice.
b) Use more patterns like "*", for example:
grant codeBase "http://*mysit*/<dir>/*" {
so that Java will not be able to "guess" the name, nor resolve it.
But unfortunately, this didn't work :-(
c) Include the java.policy file on each applet (inside the jar file), instead of an unique java.policy file on each Windows machine. This solution doesn't fit our requirements, because we cannot ask applications to manage their own permissions. We want to control them with an unique & protected & secured java.policy file.
d) Sign applets: Same reason of c)
Is there a workaround for this issue ?
We need Java to load in few seconds, but mantain java.policy funcionality.

Try putting the domain names in the Windows hosts files with their numeric addresses. That should bypass any DNS lookup. If you have central maintenance you can update all the hosts files when IP address change.
We have considered this option, but then we have the same problem described on c). IP maintentance. IPs change often and we cannot control it.

I think the problem is Netbios resolution, rather than DNS one. The sites that figure on java.policy file, are not available in terms of Netbios (they are not LAN clients), so they are only visibles on DNS resolution. But Java still tries to resolve them with Netbios first, so I think there's a timeout on this resolution (not the DNS one) . This timeout causes the problem.
But, anyway .... Why is Java trying to resolve those names ??? In fact, Java will only have to match the site you are visiting with the site specified on java.policy (just a String comparison). Why does Java need to resolve (netbios & dns) the names on java.policy? I cannot figure out why.

Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
2. Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Test.
3. If the above steps don't resolve the problem, please describe it in more detail.

How can I set Firefox 8.0 to accept 3rd party cookies ONLY from selected sites but NOT from any other sites?

I do not like to accumulate 3rd party cookies and would simply not check the Accept 3rd Party Cookies box in Preferences. BUT in order to use my bank's web page I have to accept 3rd party cookies from a separate site that manages some of their transactions (like paying bills). This means I have to accept 3rd party cookies and then delete them by hand OR I have to check the accept box each time I use the bank's website and then uncheck it when I am done.

Hey, I want to use a Socks5 proxy that requires authentification but only on specified sites.
Unfortunately, Foxyproxy does not support such proxies.
Is there an addon or some hidden Firefox feature that allows this?

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm looking for a convenient way to avoid blocked content on YouTube and co. I figured this would be superior to all those unblocker extensions since I have access to a fast proxy anyway.

*** Publishing only one iweb site to .mac

I have a number of different sites creates in iWed that I normally upload to my own server and NOT my .mac account. I would like to clear my .mac space to 0 and then upload 1 of my entire movies there. I'd like to create the backdrop in iweb and publish this entire movie to my .mac account but I know that if I just go file>publish to .mac, that all my pages will upload to .mac.
Is there a manual way to control this? Ideally I'm hoping it's possible within iweb, but I'm guessing it's not. If it's not, will it work if I publish my pages to a folder, and then select my movie .html and files folder and manually drop them into my idisk/movies folder? Will that then publish only my movie site to my .mac account?
I'm not at the office today, so I'm just wondering if someone can give me a heads up if this may work. I'm trying to research in advance!

Your iWeb sites are contained in a domain.sites file, which lives here:
User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites
To separate sites, you need to have seperate domain files. You can do this by simply creating a second User Account on your Mac and creating the website there, and then use Publish to .mac.
Or you can swap out the domain files manually or use something like Domains Juggler, from Cyclosaurus.

How many sites can a DAG belong?

Hi all,
How many sites/data centres can a DAG belong? I am quite familiar using 2 data centres to implement a DAG however I have a scenario where adding an additional data centre may be an option. The DAG would have a single primary DC hosting active
databases (plus FSW) whilst the other 2 DCs would be for passive copies.
Is this a scenario supported by Microsoft?
Any help/links to definitive info would be great.

Firefox only shows 12 sites in toolbar,,i have 47 sites i need to see 24/7

when i open FF i only see 12 sites listed in the drop down box.I need to see all 47 ,,,24/7,,if there is no fix i will go back to 2.0...3.6 is pretty but doesnt work well for what i do..Is there any way to make all 47 sites show in dropdown box,,if i want to delete 1 i can ,,if not i want to know all visited sites period.not last 12...thx for your help.....

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??

Many sites show a grey box requesting a plugin but there is no way to know which plugin to install.

On a new install of Firefox (new laptop) i have many sites that show a grey box saying that a plugin is required to display the content. Clicking on the box does nothing so I don't know what is required.
Previous versions of Firefox told you what was needed and assisted in fixing the problem. (as far as I remember) IE and Chrome work fine on these sites.

The ALL BOAT site uses Flash, and since that is one of the web's most popular formats, I suspect many of the missing plugins are Flash.
There is a different Flash control for each browser. To get the one for Firefox, try loading the following page from Firefox:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Before downloading, make sure the uncheck any unwanted extras.

Firefox 6 - Typing Slows to unusable speed in many sites including gmail

Wasn't a problem with Firefoox 3, upgraded to 5 and now many sites including gmail, the typing is reduced to unusable speeds with big pauses. Throughout. I've done complete re-install from scratch and it's still a problem. If I start in safe mode it works fine. I have not added any addins, this is virgin install. It's annoying because it's now unusable so I' m back to hated explorer instead.

Just updated to FF 7 and tried a new blank profile too. Same problem. The one inconsistency is that if I start in safe mode it's not a problem. So something happens in safe mode other than what happens in a blank profile or if I try and restart with addons or anything disabled.

Book "star" button does not operate on many sites

On many sites the bookmarks/bookmark this page tab does nothing when activated. On these sites the bookmark "star" on the
navigation bar also does nothing. Because of these problems I cannot book mark many sites which were dropped from my bookmarks sidebar when I upgraded.

17.0 Browser update not loading my navigation on MANY sites I have developed

That looks like a victim of the user agent sniffing change that changed the Gecko part in the user agent to Gecko/17.0 instead of Gecko/20100101 that previous Firefox versions have.<br />
This change should be reverted in a Firefox 17.0.1 release, so you will have to wait for that.<br />

It works in the current Aurora build that already has this change (for some reason Nightly doesn't have it).

How to create the push pin on a photo that I have seen on so many sites

Hi All,
I have seen many site using a photo pinned to a board with a standard push pin like the one we have on the iweb icon. Can someone tell me how to do that. I might or might not use it, I just want to learn how to do things even if I don't need them.
One never knows when we might need it.

An easy way to do things is here:
Drop an image into a dummy photo page.
Go to Inspector > Graphic > Style of frame
Add the push pin frame.
Take a snapshot of it - Command Shift 4
Screenshot is saved to desktop for you to manipulate as you wish. You can then even replace the image in the middle with your own.
I use this method to generate framed thumbnails for links etc.

Im pretty sure what you are looking at is Set up Assistant where it shows different languages on the slider. If I am right then just slide to unlock and follow the prompts to choose your language, country etc.
