puchased mountain lion from app store and tried downloading via store 4 times, always rcvg an alert stating "error downloading"
Is there any other mean to get the mountain lion.
I ve a 512kbps connection.

I believe you have correctly identified your 512kbps connection as the source of the problem.
The Mountain Lion download is more than 4 gigabytes.  You should try hard to find a much better, faster, more robust connection.

can't download mountain lion from app store, shows error message: retry/cancel and starts from begining,
    I alreasy paid for it
Can I get a direct download link other than from app store

Try opening the Terminal utility in your system and running the following command to open the system's caches folder:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Then locate and remove the folder called "com.apple.appstore" and then try relaunching the App Store and downloading the installer again.

Its starts the download but constantly stops after few mbs and says an error has occured, check you internet connection. • Mountain Lion from Apps Store won't download?

Purchased Mountain Lion from Apps Store - but it will not havedoIwnload. The Icon just appears and it says " waiting " for an hour or so and does nothing?

Yes as long as these are both your computers. Transfer target disk mode, USB flash drive, external HD, DVD, Dropbox, etc
Are the computer close by and portable or at a distance??  This might dictate how you move your download.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you purchase Mountain Lion, you can install it as many times as you want on all your computers for free. To install it on the desktop, open the App Store, go to Purchases tab and download OS X Mountain Lion.
Another option is to redownload it on the MacBook, put the installer onto a USB drive and connect it to the desktop in order to upgrade

  • Download older Version of Mountain Lion from App Store

    Hi,
Since i have lot's of problems with 10.8.5 i wanted to know if there is a way to download an older Version of Mountain Lion from the App Store?
I tried yesterday but it auto downloaded version 10.8.5. I tried to backup from time machine but this screwed up things completely...

...is a way to download an older Version of Mountain Lion from the App Store?
Nope, your stuck with it breaking things or being buggy, no way to revert to a earlier verison.
If you made a bootable clone you could, simply hold the option key and boot off the clone and reverse clone 10.8.4 back on.
    Most commonly used backup methods
So since you can't go back, you can attempt to fix in place, provided it's not a OS X bug that has to be fixed.
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
Your likely going to need to do #8 and restore OS X over itself, any third party software that doesn't work, check for a update or problems on the developers forums BEFORE reinstalling it or your problems will most likely return.

  • Can't download 10.8 mountain lion from app store

    Hi,
I own a 2008 mac pro. The system drive was still running an original install of osx (upgraded to the latest version of 10.8). It had become pretty slow, so I bought a new ssd for a fresh install of the os.
I own 10.6 on dvd, which I have used previously on another computer to acomplish the exact same thing I'm trying to do here; install 10.6 on a new drive, then upgrade to 10.8 (the only way I know how to do this).
So I did the usual - new drive in, old drive out, install 10.6, update 10.6 until the "app store" becomes available. So I'm now running 10.6.8. I open the app store, log in, go to "my purchases" and see osx mountain lion sitting in the list. It says I purchased it on the 12th of November, 2012, which is correct. If I click on "osx mountain lion", the app store informs me that "Item not available. The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK store". I bought the "item". I paid good money Apple. Why can't I download this? If I click "download" a little spinny thing appears for a couple of seconds next to the back/forward arrows, then disappears.
10.9 is unsupported with the software I use - everyone's reporting faults, so I need 10.8. Can someone help? Obviously I can just put the old drive back in, but this NEEDS to be available somehow...?
    Thanks

    That's good to hear.
After some mucking about I managed to get it downloading on another computer (which is already running 10.8). Hopefully I should be able to copy it over and install.
But I will let Apple know - potentially pretty disasterous for people.
    Thanks.

  • How to restore macbook after downloading Mountain Lion from app store

I just downloaded Mountain Lion from the app store. How do I restore my Macbook to it's factory settings without the CD? (Since I downloaded it online without the CD)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you want to reinstall the original Mac OS X version that came with your computer, you need the Mac OS X DVD that came with the computer.
If you want to reinstall Mountain Lion, the installer creates a recovery partition to reinstall OS X and do some maintenance tasks. You can access to it pressing Command and R keys while your Mac is starting

  • Downloaded Mountain Lion from App Store, but it says by disk is locked and won't let me choose the hard drive for installation

I'm struggling to get Mountain Lion installed on my machine, but what is worse is that it has essentially rendered my computer useless (and of course I need to use it urgently). After downloading and installing from the App Store, I have run into some significant problems.
On install, when prompted to "select the disk where you want to install OS X" the hard drive is greyed out and a message comes up that says "The disk is locked."
So when I back out of the install, I am given the option for Disk Utility, Reinstall OS X (same results as before)  or Restore from Backup (not backed up).
On the Disk Utility, I can hit Verify Disk and it names an error and says to hit Repair Disk. The error is an "Invalid Sibling Link. The volume Macintost HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired." Unfortunately, Repair Disk is greyed out and I can't hit it.
What I want to do is just forget the entire process at this point and scrap the upgrade until I have time to figure out what is going on. Is there a way to abort at this point?
    Thanks for any help!

    Your welcome!
You should always have and keep an up to date backup.
Sounds like you need something a little stronger than Disk Utility. At this point I have no way of knowing if Disk Warrior can or will help.
    Depends..!
If you do format and install, then Yes it will.
If you reinstall OS X, then No it will not.
Problem is that according to the Disk Utility message, I don't think that you will be able to install either 10.6 or 10.8.
Those are very good questions. The only bad questions are the ones you have to ask yourself.

  • HT1338 I have a new mac mini and cannot download mountain lion from apps store gives error

I have a new 3rd gen i5 intel mini mac and it wont' download ML from app store  it gives the error
We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer.
I want to reinstall it for its running to slow and add only what I need.
it installs on my older mac mini

Assuming your mini came with ML installed and you have already made a backup of your personal data, restart the computer while also holding down 'Command-Opt-R' and it should reinstall automagically from Apple's servers.

  • Problem downloading Mountain Lion from App Store

I am unable to download Mountain Lion onto my iMac from the App Store. I have no problem downloading other software - including updates to Final Cut Pro X and several other programs. However, if I try to download Mountain Lion, it starts and then hangs at 142mb. Since yesterday.
The iMac is 3.4 ghz Intel Core i7, with 8GB of ram, with a SSD system drive. It is currently running 0S X 10.7.5. I have restarted several times, and trashed the preferences and cache for the App Store. I also tried creating an alternate user account on the computer and downloading from the new user - it still hangs at 142mb.
I have already purchased Mountain Lion for my MacBook Pro, and that worked great. The App store recognizes that it is a purchased app - but i am unable to download past 142mb. My internet connection is solid, and I have restarted my modem - not sure what else i can do.

    I would first try this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
If you continue to have a problem it may just be any issue with Apple's servers or those of your ISP.

  • Reinstall Mountain Lion from App Store

Okay, so I got over-excited, and upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion
To cut a long story short, I need to go back to Snow Leopard to run a couple of programs that won't work with Mountain Lion (logic 8 to be one), save/finish some files/projects (providing my old busted hard drive can be restored from the recovery company). My question is, as Mountain Lion will be in my App Store, will I be allowed to re-install it without having to pay for it again?
    Cheers, Chris.

Yes, if you are able to get the install to actually work. After purchasing and installing on my Macbook Pro I have been waiting for 2 days for the install to start on my IMAC.
Any software that you have purchased through the MacStore will be there in the future for you to reinstall on any Mac that runs with your apple ID. Apple kindly let you pay for a license of software an run it on all the apple products you own.
best of luck queing for the install again

  • Cannot download os x mountain lion from app store

I need to install the original mountain lion that i had on my system. I do not have the downloaded software. I did originally purchase the software, but I cannot redownload the software from the appstore. I keep on getting an error after the download starts and stops after a few minutes. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!! I need the software to install a fresh copy of the operating system on my iMac. I have attempted to download the software on 2 MacBookPros, and they both had the same error.

Again, what error message do you get? Did your sister purchase Mountain Lion with her Apple ID as well? You should be able to simply go to the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store and see "Download" to the far right of "OS X Mountain Lion":
Do you see this in the MAS? Do you see a Download button?
