Pulse audio doesn't see any card

I've changed my desktop to gnome 3 from kde, previously having xfce installed.
While having very hard issues to make sound works in KDE, i decided to switch from alsa to oss
and that had made a trick.
After switching to gnome shell, pulse devchooser and console tools says - there is no card detected,
altough skype-oss is working well, I can hear it sounds. Firefox and flash are silent.
Do I have to reenable Alsa (I dont want cause skype doesn't work without oss on my desktop)?
Can you please help make my sound working on gnome3?

There are two wires that attach to the AirPort Extreme Card; one for Wi-Fi and the other for Bluetooth. Be sure to double-check both for a solid connection AND to make sure that you don't accidentally have the wires crossed.

  • MBP doesn't see usb card reader

I have a MAUSB-10 card reader and my MBP doesn't see it. It's usb and was plugged into my xp box, but I'm trying to switch everything over to mac and this is a major stumbling block. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get the MBP to see the reader..... cmd line force? anything!?!
    Thank you in advance.

I just tried a Sandisk USB 2.0 Card Reader/Writer for Sony style memory stick. Model SDDR-170-A10M. My 15" MacBook Pro will not mount the memory stick on the desktop. I have a support e-mail into Sandisk, but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make this work in the meantime?
I am seeing no Apple Mac OSX specific drivers. The device did come with a Windows driver software mini-cd-disc. Which I beleive I couldn't use on my internal CD drive anyway.
Any thoughts out there would be much appreciated!
BTW an SIIG, Inc. ExpressCard 11-in-1 R/W card does work! I just thought the Sandisk "thumb-drive" style R/W device would be a more universal way to work between computers.

  • ITunes doesn't see any of my devices.

    Hi, Damski2310.
I would recommend the steps in the article below.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • ITunes doesn't see any of my iCal Calendars i

I'm trying to sync my iCal to my iPod Touch, but not having any luck. I had it syncing via "Exchange Account" through NuevaSync but there are some issues there...decided to go back to sync via the cable. I am now unable to see any of my calendars in iTunes. The list of calendars is blank.
    What I've tried:
    Resetting sync history
    Removing isync pref folders
Backing up calendars via export and deleting all calendars, re-adding calendars via import to iCal
Confirmed URLs for published and subscribed calendars
Unpublished all calendars and got rid of subscribed calendars
    Re-subscribed and re-published calendars
    So far--nothing's working. Any suggestions?
    THANKS!
    Corey

Go to the iPhone discussion and search for calendar synching. I've been there and solved my iCal problems. Look for info on deleting a "cache" folder as well, I know I removed one but can't remember which one.
I think you can only sync personal calendars.
Also try creating another user on your mac, log-out as yourself and log-in as the new and then try opening iTunes to see if it recognizes your calendars.

  • Server Monitor doesn't see any sensors

    Hey,
I inherited this Intel XServe and hot days like this make you take a closer look at the sensor data... all of which are invisible to SM.
SM doesn't see power, temperature, and blowers. Their respective tabs show one entry under Location: None.
I'm not using LOM but connecting locally via the loopback address.
OSX Server 10.6.4, Server Monitor 1.8(5)
Using 3rd party software like Temperature Monitor does read the temp sensor data fine.

The way that Apple recommends for the Xserve LOM reset and reboot is to unplug the box. The LOM is an embedded computer riding atop the network controller, and always powered on when the chassis has power.
For completeness, there's an ipmitool cold restart option for the bmc that might work, but (given the lack of documentation; Apple's recommended approach toward resets; this is a production environment; that haven't tried it) I wouldn't follow that approach.
I'd also look at a network-enabled remote power switch for this environment. Cheap, and saves you the trip to the DC or the call to the DC staff.

  • Audio: Record Audio doesn't see mic since last upgrade

Since the last upgrade (10.0.8) Record Audio does not see the mic input to my Saffire Pro 24 DSP - the Saffire is selected as input, mono mic on Channel 1. The Saffire is working and a signal appears on its level meters and headphones. It used to work fine. Anyone else seen this?

    Hi,
    The title says it all.
Version 1.02 or 1.03 fo DM fails to see any contacts on my computer.
    No errors.

I hate to respond to my own thread.

    I get no errors.

  • IMovie '09 doesn't see any audio files or still photos.

I just migrated my G5 iMac to a new iMac. I now have iMovie HD '06 on the new iMac and it works just fine. The problem is iMovie '09 and iPhoto. Neither application can see the audio files to add background music, sound effects, etc. Also, iMovie can not see iPhoto photos. iMovie can see the iPhoto videos. I can add movie clips to iMovie, so that seems to work.

You could have a bad install. There's a thread/threads around here talking about the viewer being all white due to a bad install of the program or a corrupt user. I've also heard it manifest with a black screen instead of white.
Quickest thing to check. Create a new user account. Log in there, and open Motion. If Motion opens fine, then you have a problem with your normal user account.

I'm not at all familiar with pulseaudio configuration. Does anyone know of a good way for me to resolve this issue? Have I even identified the correct issue?
    UPDATE:
I was able to work around my problem for the moment by symlinking the configuration file to the location that pulseaudio was actually looking for it
    # mkdir -p /usr/share/alsa/ucm/HDA\ Intel
    # ln -s /usr/share/alsa/cards/HDA-Intel.conf /usr/share/alsa/ucm/HDA\ Intel/HDA\ Intel.conf
Although this does get my sound back, it is a hacky work-around and obviously not ideal. Anyone who knows a bit about pulse configuration, I welcome your input here

Thank you so much for posting your solution!
I was having the same problem. The funny part was it started happening (and not always) after KDE says that the Intel HDA device is "gone" and asking me to remove it from my configuration. Even by saying no it wouldn't work. Killing pulseaudio with
    pulseaudio -k
would have everything fallback to Alsa but starting pulseaudio again wouldn't work.
Rebooting right away doesn't take care of the issue either but after a while the problem would go away...
    Any inputs would be appreaciated!

  • New user created doesn't see any data in reports

    Hello Everyone,
I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1. I have a problem when i created a new user in the system via Shared Services. The reports are Reporting and Analysis reports.
I duplicated a current user in the system and applied the same groups and provisions. However, the new user cannot view any data in the reports. The current user however is able to do so. I am quite literally puzzled.
The existing user has been given the "Planner" provision. Further, the existing user has dimension security applied as well. This works fine with the existing user, as when i log in as the existing user, the data is available only to the groups and dimensions he has been assigned to. But when I apply the same groups and provisions to the newly created user, I get absolutely no data though i can see the report.
But if I apply the Essbase Cluster: Administrator provision to the new user, all the data is viewable in the reports irrespective of the dimension security.
I would appreciate some help urgently to get this matter resolved.
    Regards

    Hi John,
Though the problem was solved last time, it returned. Users aren't able to view any web analysis reports.
I dropped all users from SS and deleted all the security filters from EAS. (made a backup of course). Then I created all the users once again with relevant access to groups and the provision of "Planner" in the relevant planning application.
Then in planning (Administration > Manage Security Filters > UserName > Create) created the filter for the user.
When I did that, the default filter for the user was as follows.
    Access - None
    Member - @IDES("Accounts"),@IDES("Scenarios"),@IDES("Versions"),@IDES("ABCGroup")
I want the user to have access to the Cost Center (Branch) L103. So I added the following.
    Access - Read
    Member - "Final","Draft 1","L103","Budget","Actual","Final Forecast",@IDES("Input Assumptions"),@IDES("Balance Sheet"), @IDES("Profit and Loss Account"),@IDES("Financials Ratio"),@IDES("Report Assumptions")
This used to work, but for somewhat reason, it doesn't. The story is the same for all users. When i log in as a user and try to view a report, i get the "Database Login" - No data available error.
    Pls help.

  • Lsdaq doesn't list any card but i have one in the system.daqmx installed ok.

I have installed Daqmxbase8 in my RHEL5 system. All installation went ok.After restarting the machine while running lsdaq, i have seen it not displaying any NI boards. But I have ,
one NI4461 card, which is listed in  'lspci command ' , as Unknow device fronm  NI.Why lsdaq is not giving any listing?

more data... well I tried various BIOS settings (after borrowing a keyboard that could get into BIOS) but it doesn't look like it's a BIOS issue alone. it looks that at some point the system GRUB might be involved.
it looks like as soon as both kingstongs are in only one gets recognised by the BIOS. when I stick in the no name Chinese USB I can choose in BIOS the boot priority of the two. probably Toshiba would also provide such an options. so I guess I need to get a Toshiba or something and then set it up as secondary boot?! but why won't it work with 2 Kingstons?
By the way can I sue 64 GB FAT USB 32 to do system backups with rdiff-backup? I am guessing that not but I am not sure if backups get compressed - do they keep the file ownership and permissions?
I tried various options (removed all flags from Kingston, reformatted it as fat32) - Kingston 8GB is where the OS is installed - google docs sheet of results:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IzcvabodrpaQKqiZDT0rPhBfn2DSutcCRCerWOVc0DE/edit?usp=sharing

  • USB Card Reader Doesn't See CF Card w/ 10.4.6 - Worked fine with 10.4.5

Why do I do these things??
I bought a cheap "Comp Usa" brand USB multi-card reader that I've been plugging into a Belkin powered USB hub. It worked fine reading a SanDisk 1gb "Ultra II" CF card until yesterday with 10.4.5.
Now that I've "upgraded" to 10.4.6, the card isn't registering anymore. The green LED on the reader lights up, showing some sort of connection between the reader and the USB hub, but the card will not appear on the desktop.
I should've waited - there is nothing in the 10.4.6 descriptions of fixes that matters to me, and now I don't know how to safely "go back" to 10.4.5.
    Any thoughts?

Delete kernel extension caches, other caches for some issues A number of common issues that crop up after incremental Mac OS X updates can be resolved by deleting specific cache files -- specifically kernel extension caches -- and restarting.
This can most easily be accomplished with a shareware utility like Tiger Cache Cleaner, but also bears a manual process which involves dragging the following files to the trash:
    com.apple.kernelcaches (a folder in /System/Library/Caches)
    Extensions.kextcache (a file in /System/Library)
    Extensions.mkext (a file in /System/Library/)
    com.apple.ATS (a folder in /Library/Caches/)
Files that start with com.apple.LaunchServices (in /Library/Caches)
You will be prompted to enter your administrator password when dragging these files to the trash. You may need to restart after moving them to the trash.
Re-apply the Mac OS X 10.4.6 combo updater (Do not have USB Hub connected when you do this) A workaround that has proved successful for various problems caused by previous incremental Mac OS X updaters is re-application of the current combination updater
    (Power PC) http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty1.pl/product=10151&cat=1&platform =osx&method=sa/MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.6PPC.dmg
. Doing so overwrites potentially problem-causing files that were not replaced by the "Delta" (adjacent version-to-version) update.

  • Built-In Audio doesn't feed any Audio editing software like Soundtrack.

I am trying to record streaming audio from the internet through the built in audio in and out in the computer using Soundtrack. I can drag wav. files in and they play, I record with the built in mic, it plays, but audio coming internally doesn't show, itunes, internet etc.

The sound being played by applications is not really audio input. Audio input has to be coming from an external source, such as through the built-in mic or the audio input port, or possibly USB/FireWire if you have such a device connected.
You can connect a mini-stereo jack cable to your audio output port and feed it back into your audio input port.
Or you can get a program such as WireTap
    http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/
that is specifically designed to record what other apps are playing.

  • ICal doesn't 'see' any appts. on a delegated account on an Exchange Server

We have an Exchange 2007 (SP1) Server in an Active Directory environment. We have several OSX 10.6.2 macs using iCal and Apple Mail to interface with the Exchange service. The email and calendars work just fine with the accounts that I have defined for the users. I am trying to connect to another Exchange user's calendar that my AD account has been given access to. I then went into the iCal account preferences, selected my account and then clicked on the delegation tab. I click the plus key and type in that user whose calendar I want to see in iCal; the name is listed and I add the user. The user is now listed in the Delegation tab and is set to show, has Read & Write access to Calendars and No Access to Tasks. In the iCal main screen I see a Delegates section, the user name and the Calendar under the user name. However, none of the items in that calendar show up in iCal. More strangely, in iCal I select that user's calendar, double click on a day as if to create a new calendar entry and iCal hangs for a few moments and appears to do nothing. If you look at the calendar in Outlook 2007 on a Windows machine you will see that a new untitled event has been created, yet it still will not show in iCal.
    Very perplexing.
Am I missing a strange detail in iCal? Is there a setting somewhere on the Exchange server that is not set correctly, or do we have a bug of some sort here?

    Follow up:
Strange.... I fiddled with the settings, always returning back to the original settings as described above (not that there are very many options) and now it is working. (play twilight zone theme song here) On another computer, I went to set up several delegated calendars in the same fashion (using all the same versions of the software). In the Delegation tab in the iCal account preferences, *the Calendar permissions displayed are inconsistent.* I added four delegated calendars, the first three are displayed as having read/write access, the fourth has no access even though the user has been given the same privs on all of the calendars. I deleted the fourth from the delegation list and now the third one I added has no access to the calendar. Me thinks there is a bug in there somewhere.
