Purchases from multiple devices

Our family has 2 i-phones, an i-pad, an i-mac, and 2 touches. We use the same Apple account. We currently have a positve balance on our i-tunes account.Some purchases are deducted from this account while others are put on my credit card. What have i done wrong?

It seems there is some strange logic behind the billing.
Probably (I'm not sure) the iTunes Card doesn't have priority on the credit card payment and in result there is a mixed payment situation (some payments via iTunes card and some payments via credit card).
Maybe there is a logic like "Music is payed with iTunes card, App & Movies with Credit Card).
Personally I will find it annoying but, if somehow the positive balance will be consumed, you don't have to worry.

Is there any way that I can share an in-app purchase over multiple devices even if they are under the same iTunes account?

So there are several iOS devices in my family and on one of our iPads we have purchased an in-app purchase. I also have the same app on another iPad and would like to also have access to that in-app purchase. HT1848 I downloaded a book on itunes on one computer and it is not listed on a seconded computer. Same account. I have tried updating purchases and transferring recent purchases, transferring purchases from another devices. Still does not appear.

If it's an audiobook then you will need to copy it over from the first computer to the second computer - audiobooks are currently one-time only downloads, so they won't appear under the Purchased link for re-downloading. If you copied it onto a device from the first computer then you should be able to copy it off that device to the second computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. If it's not on a device and both computers are on the same wifi network then you should be able to copy it over via home sharing (there are instructions on this page), or you can copy it to, for example, a flash drive (you can find it's location on the first computer by control-clicking it in your iTunes library and selecting 'Show In Finder') and then add it to the second computer's iTunes (File > Add To Library).
If it's an ibook then you should be able to re-download it from the store : re-downloading.

ITunes movie purchase on multiple devices?

I did a quick search and did not find what I was looking for.
I'm thinking about purchasing movies from iTunes and before I do, I was wondering what the policy was for transferring the movies to multiple devices? Can I transfer them to my iPhone and my iPod nano?
I know for rentals it is only 1 device at a time. Is movie purchase the same? Thanks.

Purchase is different. You can have the purchased movie on any of your (up to 5) authorized computers and any of your compatible iPods/iPhones. I often have movies or television shows synced to both my Touch and my 3rd gen Nano as I tend to have one with me at certain times and the other at other times.

How to delete apps from multiple devices?

I have multiple IOS devices that share a single Apple-id. Is there a way to delete the app from all IOS devices automatically, or do I have to delete it from each device?
Also, why do deleted APPs come back when the devices are sync'd (via cable) to my Mac?

Regarding your first question, I believe you have to delete them from each device --- unless you first delete the app from iTunes, then sync your i-device using iTunes.
Regarding the second question, the key is to delete the app from iTunes on your Mac. That would end the undesireable behavior.

Will iTunes Match work with songs purchased from multiple Apple IDs?

My parents have an iTunes library with about 10,000 songs on it. It's basically one big mesh of my family's purchases from over the years, using multiple Apple ID's and some of which I don't even recognize and/or remember. It's become very problematic now that my mother wants me to get a lot of the music "out of the guts of the computer" so she can listen to them on her iPhone and iPad.
I'm assuming iTunes Match is the solution, but I just want to be sure that the "match" part pertains not only to purchases from outside sources, but also purchases from other Apple ID's as well. I won't have to do the whole "authorize this computer" stuff, right? Like I said, some of the songs were purchased using old ID's that we don't have access to anymore. Also, if I sign up my mom for an iTunes Match account, and she wants to play songs that I purchased using my own Apple ID, that's not going to change *my* account or authorizations in any way, is it?

The music information for iTunes Match is obtained from the user's iTunes music library and does not depend on the Apple ID under which the music was purchased from the iTunes Store. See this article -

I'm trying to transfer old purchases from a device I don't have anymore.

I just want to know how I can transfer those purchases without the device itself onto my current computer. It's the same account too.

Authorize your computer in iTunes, log in to the iTunes Store with your Apple ID and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on top right of iTunes window. Go through all the tabs to download again for free.

I was wondering if someone can help me with regards to in app purchases. I currently know that should I purchase an app, I can install and use it on multiple devices (iPads, iPods etc)
I would simply log into my account on the multiple devices, and download the app onto the device, simple! I would also only be charged once, a copy would just be downloaded onto the devices.
What I want to know is, is it the same for in app purchases? Can I make a purchase once, and have the additions reflected on every device I have, or do I have to make the same in app purchase several times on the different devices, and as a result be charged again for each device I want it on?

IChat - Synching Chatting History from multiple devices on same account

I currently have the iChat server up and running on a MacMini running OS X 10.6.4. I see in the iChat client on my MacBook Pro where it will load past messages when I open a chat with a buddy. I am also running a jabber client on my iPhone (IM+ is the iPhone app). What I am curious about is if there is a way to load chat history for the account, not just from the device.
For instance, when using Skype the following will occur. I can chat on my iPhone, and then when I login to my Laptop, the history of chats sent from my iPhone will be added to the history on my Laptop. I am trying to prevent having to look back at every device I use my jabber account on to find that one IM message that has the information I need.
Is there a way to sync the account on all clients (or at least just my MacBook Pro) so I can view chats there sent from all my devices and not just from my Laptop?

I have turned on the logging feature inside of the iChat server, and I have seen all IMs being sent are saved.
So do you think this is more of a client side problem of not being able to sync from the Message Archive on the OS X Snow Leopard 10.64 iChat server? Meaning that if the IMs are being saved, then all that really needs to be done is to create a client that will access the server log and do a compare of its local saved history with the server saved history and then takes any missing IMs and adds to its local history log?
Am I far off base on this, or does this seem feasable?

Transferring files from Multiple Devices to 1 ITunes Account

I have three Apple devices, an ITouch, an IPhone and an IPad and one ITunes account.
I'm trying to fill my Itunes library with all my files from each of my devices, the files differ so on one I have a tv series the other two don't have this, then I have albums I've imported from CD's on my IPad but they're not on my computer or other device as I have a new computer.
Is it possible to transfer all files from each device to my itunes ? If so how ? The only options I can seem to find is to update the Idevices from my Itunes and not the other way around ?

No problem, it is still much the same advice but you'll need to use third party tools to extract the data.

Using Skype from Multiple Devices - Keeping them i...

I use my skype account from many different devices as I travel. Can I "force" an update to make sure I've received updates or reflect sends from other devices (esp. IM & SMS) to the device I'm on at the moment? I'm kinda tired of my iPhone grabbing updates and they take forever or never get to my iPad or PC when I switch to it. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes the delay or it not happening at all is a major aggravation.

I am having the same problem, Skype is not updating IM or contact information between my home computer and my Iphone. Even one contact that was added has a photo and yet on my computer and iphone the photo doesn't show.
Then I also realized that there were a whole bunch of messages that didn't come through, so missed out on replying to those!
Skype is failing big time!

Hp Officejet Pro 8600 Premium - wireless home network printing from multiple devices

We have a wireless home network with several desk tops, lap tops and tablets using the network for internet access. There is only one printer in the home, our hp Officejet pro 8600 Premium. Right now everyone who has access to the network can print. We want to prevent printing from specific devices while allowing printing from others. How do I password protect the printer so that only certain devices may print? Or alternatively, remotely prevent devices from printing?

Well this is a little tricky. You have a 'home' network so we assume you want everyone to print went they want. If you are talking about 'guest' that come over and use the printer, the best thing is to get a router with a Guest Network which isolates your home network.
That being said there is no 'password' you can put on the printer , however you can add security.
Start/Devices and Printers/ Right click on your printer and select Printer Properties , select the Security Tab. Now you can set security.

Purchases from multiple iTunes stores (different countries)

Do I have to have a new/different accounts to bye from iTunes in the US? My account is Norwegian. I tired to by from the US store but it said that i only could by from the Norwegian store. When I tried to make another account for the US store it said that I already had an account and that I could use that account for purchase from the US store too... I AM CONFUSED!!!!

You can buy ONLY from the itunes store of your country of residence ( proven by the valid billing address on your credit card) AND ONLY while you are physically located inside the borders of that country.

HT1202 I get how you can transfer purchases from a device to computer but what about the hundreds of songs on my iPad that were from CDs and non purchased? How can you move them from iPAd to computer if it wants to erase and sync?

I am needing to transfer ALL content, not just purchased, to new computer and it wants to erase and sync because device is associated with another Library. Please help!

What was the source to get that content onto the iPad?
There has to be a middleman to get from CD to iPad - use
backup of that to get content to new computer.
