Push and birthday calendar issues

I'm having trouble with push. As a somewhat separate issue, I'm also having trouble with birthdays from iCal to the iPhone, push or not.
I had no problem with birthdays transferring to my old iPhone.
Should I set up MobileMe as .mac or .me, since I have .mac?
All the settings in mail, contacts, and calendars on the iPhone are set to ON to push, and in iCal I have the birthday option on. The MobileMe Calendar does list the birthdays.
I can't get mail pushed to the iPhone, but my calendar events, except for birthdays, do seem to come across.
I saw a post last night on a different problem that suggested that Version 2.0 (5A345) had known issues, and to do a restore and get 5A347. I did that this morning and haven't noticed a difference.
I hope I'm making sense, I'm a little punchy after trying to figure this out.
I'm resending this post, as it was posted as a reply to another post this morning. No one responded, and that post is basically off the radar now. I apologize in advance.

Im having the same problem with iphone and birthday calendar. It shows on mobileme and ical but not the iphone. Please send a email to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback. I hope they resolve this issue too.

  • Contact & Birthday Calendar Issue

On my PC I use Microsoft Office to manage my contacts and then sync my contacts with my iPhone. On my PC in Microsoft Office most of my contacts have birthdates and all birthdates are correct here. However, on my iPhone if I open any contact from Contacts and check the birthdates, they are out by 1 day (1 day forward). If then I open my Calendar on my iPhone and go to the Birthday Calendar I find that birthdays are also out by 1 day (1 day back). E.g. on my pc, my birthday is 6 June 1973, which is correct, but on my iPhone under Contacts my birthday here is 7 June 1973 and in Calendar > Birthdays my birthday here is 5 June 1973.
    Environment
    - Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64
    - Microsoft Office 2010 (but had the same issue in Office 2007)
    - iTunes 10.1 (but had the same issue in the last few version of iTunes)
    - iPhone 3GS
    - iPhone Version 4.1 (but had the same issue in the last few versions)
    - Region Format is New Zealand
    - Calendar is Gregorian
    - Date & Time is 12 hr and its set to automatic
Can we please sort this out Apple?

Do you have Time Zone Support enabled with Outlook on your PC and on your iPhone? If so, do you need Time Zone Support enabled with either one? If you have Time Zone Support enabled on both, try disabling this on both first to see if this makes any difference.

  • KB2563324 and Outlook calendar issue.

    Hi
We've experienced an issue mentioned in KB2563324:
"Issue 1.9 - An appointment does not update when you use Outlook in cached mode and room mailbox is an attendee
The following conditions cause an appointment not to update on an iOS device:
Organizer is using Outlook in cached mode.
A room mailbox is listed as an attendee
Calendar processing for the room mailbox is set to AutoAccept
Organizer makes a change to in an instance of a recurring meeting"
However our problem is that apart of the event not updating on the iPhone handsets we also see "Not current" event error in the MS Outlook so the recipient cannot accept or dismiss the update from MS Outlook client on the laptop. I believe
that it happens because of the original cause from the KB:
    "Cause (from KB2563324)
Exchange sends two responses for the appointment on the device that contain an exception for the appointment. The second response contains the updated time for the meeting. However, the time stamp for the appointment is older that the first response."
That would explain the MS Outlook error on the workstation saying "Message out of date" and "Not current" event.
Unfortunately the KB2563324 isn't clear if this issue could also affect the same user account in MS Outlook client.
I've also found that this problem is only affecting users with Outlook Anywhere so I wonder if  problem mentioned in paragraph 1.9 in KB2563324 would affect both the iPad calendar and same calendar in MS Outlook 2010 using Outlook Anywhere?
    Could you please advise.

We have the same problems, since over one year and we are a plaything between Apple and Microsoft.
Please open a case by Microsoft Support and file this to our case number:
[REG:113111310943037] Callback:IPhone Calendar Sync Problem with Outlook
    I extended above conditions:
The following conditions cause an appointment not to update on an iOS device:
    User
is using Outlook in cached mode.
    Exchange Server 2010 Sp2/Sp3 (NOT Exchange 2013!)
A room mailbox is listed as an attendee
    or resource
Calendar processing for the room mailbox is set to AutoAccept
Outlook User makes a recurring appointment
    with a room mailbox
Organizer makes a change to in an instance of a recurring meeting
This does NOT happen with OWA or Outlook Users in Online Mode or in our test case with an Exchange 2013 server.
And also only happen with iOS devices. Not Androids or Windows Phones :-(
    Good luck!

  • IPhone and Google Calendar issue

I'm going mental trying to figure something out here and I hope that someone can help me.
My wife and I both have an iphone, and, gmail accounts and wanted to have a calendar used by both of us so we can update different reminders and events and have them sync over the air. easy enough. Right ?
I created my calender under gmail. Set it up on my iphone, and, all is working fine. If I create an event on the gmail calendar, it gets pushed to my phone, and, it happens the other way around also. perfect. that part is good.
Now, I get my wife's phone and set hers up to "subscribe" to my calendar. All seems to work fine, but, for some reason, she isn't getting pop-up alerts on her phone when an event happens.
If I update something on my calendar, and, she opens up my calendar on her iphone, she can see that there is a new event, but, it doesn't pop-up a reminder on her phone when it's time. It kinda defeats the purpose of this utility.
I made sure on her gmail page that she has pop-up reminders on. am I missing something?
I've been subscribing and unsubscribing to my calender (with her phone for hours now) trying to figure out what Im doing wrong, and Im about to go mad.
    Any ideas?

I got it figured out. Thanks for your quick and detailed help "Randy Fast"

  • ICal and birthday calendar

I have (among others) 3 entries in Address Book with birthday dates: 1978-04-22, 1981-08-21 and 1982-12-23. Non of them are shown in ical.
But there is more. When i search for these people in ical search box i get following results: all these persons have birthday events on 23 june since 1900 till 2009. Of cause this events are not visible in ical. Clicking on a given event (for example with date 2007-06-23) takes me to 2007-06-04... And there is no birthday event on this date...
Does anyone knows how it can be fixed??? Does anyone also experience such problems??? It is one of several problems which i have with Leopard.

I have a similar problem - some birthdates refuse to show up no matter what, while others show up on the wrong day - eg, I just entered someone's birthday as 12/6/1980, and it first showed up on 12/13 in iCal. The interesting part is, when I looked back in Address Book, it now showed it as 12/15! I then updated it again to 12/6, and now it's showing up on iCal as 12/4. Bizarre.
I really wish too that I could add a birthday without a year. I'd rather not ask my coworkers and friends what year they were born in, just so I can add them to my calendar. It seems my choice is to either make up a year for them, or put "0", which shows up as "0001" in the date. Ugh.
Something's very wrong in iCal/Address Book...

    Hi KStover05,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue when trying to sync your iPhone. The article linked below describes why those alert messages appear and how to resolve issues related to them.

  • ICloud on iPhone 4, iPad 2, and iPod/Calendar issue

Quick question - I just need confirmation on this actually:
I have read and been told that I cannot use iCloud with OSX 10.5.8.  However, can someone please explain why I can enable iCloud on my iPhone 4, and can add a calender event and actually see it appear on all of my devices?  I can also log into iCloud, create an event, and it goes to my iPhone/iPad/iPod.  I can't, however, see it on my computers iCalendar.  Is this the limitation?  I also can't create an event on my iMac's calendar and see it appear on my iPad/iPhone/iPod - I can simply sync via iOS devices.

    Link,
Your Leopard computer is not capable of supporting iCloud with the iCal application, but your iOS 5 devices are iCloud calendar capable. You can however, access your iCloud calendar from your computer using a icloud.com url.

  • TS3999 iPhone 5 v 7.0.4 and icloud calendar issue

I have an iPhone 5 v 7.0.4 and all of a sudden entries I make on my calendar are not appearing when I log into icloud.  I can make an entry via my laptop or pc and it will appear on my iPhone but not vice versa. I have tried deleting the account from my iphone and an iPhone reset but nothing has worked.  If I make the same entry on my pc it appears as a duplicate on my iPhone!
    Any assistance would be appreciated?

You'll need to contact the previous owner to get them to remove the account.
There is no way to bypass this security feature. If you can't contact the previous owner you have wasted your money and have a phone you'll never be able to use.

  • Birthday calendar bizarre repetitions and other issues

I have the STRANGEST things happening with birthdays on both my iPhone (5, 32GB, white, iOS 6) and iPad (32GB, iOS 6, white).
I'm posting it here in the iPhone forum, assuming more people may be able to help.
First of all, I sync a Google Apps calendar with my iPhone and iPad via CalDAV. I also sync my Google Contacts with my address book (including birthdays), which syncs via my MacBook on OS 10.6.8 using the sync icon in the system tray. (I hesitate to call it MobileMe, even though that's what the System Preferences calls it, because it really has nothing to do with MobileMe -- it does not sync via MobileMe [I do not have an account], it just syncs my Address Book with Google with my phone or iPad when hooked up. It is through a WIRED connection that it does the final sync to the device.)
So, my birthdays from my address/contact books and my Google contacts DO sync and they DO show up on both my iOS devices in the fancy Birthday calendar with the cute cake symbol, as well as in my Google calendar.
    NOW HERE'S THE CRAZY PARTS.
Sometime recently, my birthdays were getting repeated. But oddly, enough they are a different amount on the two iOS devices. I have 18 copies of all birthdays (on the same day) in my iPhone calendar and 68 (YES, SIXTY-EIGHT COPIES) in my iPad of every birthday.
My Google calendar shows NO SUCH ERRONEOUS copies.
The crazier thing is that the copies of the birthdays are NOT on the birthday calendar. In fact, IT'S AS IF THEY JUMP AROUND ON DIFFERENT CALENDARS. They show up all one color, but some random color. They will appear or disappear only SOMETIMES if I turn "off" some calendars or others (for example, once they would go away if I hid a "Personal" calendar, another if I hid a calendar I subscribe to via Google but sync via CalDAV from Weather Underground, and another calendar that is a Google calendar but also my "default calendar" in the iOS settings). And this is all within minutes.
When I go into an instance of the repeated calendar event, it will actually say it belongs to my default calendar, regardless of what was hiding or showing it before.
When I try to "edit" the birthday just to see what happens, it crashes the app.
    WHAT. THE. ______???
    Here's what already I've tried:
Searching the internet for someone with a similar problem. NADA.
Turning off the option to sync my Google birthday calendar via the Google sync page (I think it's actually unnecessary anyway, since iOS pulls from the contact book, anyway). That did nothing.
Hiding all calendars and then selecting them to show one at a time to figure out which calendar was causing the problem, but as I mentioned above, it is not consistent.
    Re-syncing my devices with iTunes.
Searching for and merging duplicate contacts in Google contacts.
Turning off the iOS birthday calendar.
Killing and re-starting the calendar app.
    Re-starting my iOS devices.
Re-syncing my contact book with my devices.
Someone. Please. Tell me you're having this problem and that you have the solution? I'm going crazy over here! I can't remember anything that may have triggered this to happen.

I figured it out! (Or at least, it's been fixed for a day on both my iPad and iPhone.)
By the way, I discovered more oddities, but I'm not going to even bother with describing them.)
I am assuming everyone here has been syncing their birthday calendar off of Google/Gmail (whether CalDAV or Exchange, it doesn't matter).
The key to this is to know three things:
    A) Tgara was on to something: syncing the Google birthday calendar in your Google sync settings -- even though it does not show up in your calendar list on the iphone/ipad -- is the culprit.
    B) BUT, simply un-syncing will not make them go away unless you completely un-sync all your Google calendars. Once the repetitions get into your phone/iPad via they are kind of "stuck" there, and you've got to go back to the beginning to un-stick them for good.
    C) Thus, it may require some trial and error because I had to repeat this a couple times. I may no have the right order of operations, but this is my best recreation/guess.
How I fixed it (I had to repeat a couple times for some reason):
    1) I'm debating whether you have to do this step (I think I did it on my iPhone, but not my iPad, and yet both worked), but it doesn't take long, so you could just to be safe: on your iOS device, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars -- delete your Google calendar account.
    2) On your iOS device, go to the proper Google sync page to choose what calendars are available for syncing.
    For Exchange, go to: https://m.google.com/sync/settings/iconfig/device
For CalDAV and Gmail/normal sync, go to: https://www.google.com/calendar/b/0/iphoneselect
For Google Apps CalDAV (although it worked for me on the normal page above), go to: https://www.google.com/calendar/hosted/yourhosteddomain.com/iphoneselect
If you're not sure which method you use, do both of them.
    3) Sign in and choose the device in question (if prompted) and then uncheck ALL the calendars. Save/apply.
    4) Go to calendar app. You should have an On my iPhone or On my iPad calendar and the iOS birthday calendar. Ensure that no repetitions are seen when you check mark each calendar idividually and also collectively to be visible. If there are, repeat the steps above.
    5) Once the repetitions are gone, go to your iOS settings and add the calendar account back in if you removed it in step one.
    6) Go back to the calendar app. Again, you will have two calendars -- one default Google calendar and one ios birthday calendar. Turn on each one at a time and also together to make sure the repetitions are gone. If they are not, repeat the above again.
    7) Once they are gone, go back to the Google sync page(s) and add all the calendars you want back, BUT DO NOT SELECT YOUR BIRTHDAY CALENDAR. Save/apply.
    8) Go to the calendar app. Open up the calendar list. Wait for it to refresh. Now you should be able to turn on all your calendars you wish to see, wait for it to propagate, and confirm there are no copies. If there are copies, repeat all the steps!
YOU DO NOT need to erase your contacts. Not sure about iGust's work-around, but that's unnecessary. And christina44, I actually think this is a different problem. All my copies were on the correct date.

  • I'm trying to push my restored calendar onto iCloud, but iCloud keeps pushing back (and deleting the calendar on my Mac).

I screwed up my calendar when trying to get all my iMac (Yosemite), iPhone 5s (iOS 8), and iCloud synced. I wasn't too worried because I have a backup of my iMac's Calendar that is correct. Here's what I did to try to sync everything:
    1) Deleted all the calendars from iCloud. As a result, both the iMac and iPhone's calendar's were blanked out.
    2) Imported into my iMac Calendar my .icbu backup.
    3) Everything is all pretty on my iMac Calendar for 5 seconds, until...
    4) POOF! The calendar disappears and is blank again!
I know it's because iCloud is updating my iMac to look like the iCloud calendar because iCloud think its Calendar is the latest and greatest. But it's not.
So how do I push my backup Calendar onto iCloud, who then sends it to my iMac and iPhone?
I tried using this article, but it did not help:
iCloud: Manually importing data from Calendar or iCal to iCloud Calendar - Apple Support

Sorry, I was gone for a while.  The reason I asked is that many employers will push a restriction to the phone to prevent it from backing up to iCloud.
The only time I've seen this before it was the result of a server issue at Apple's end, and would normally clear up on it's own in 3-5 days.  If you can't wait, you'll probably have to contact Apple support for help with this: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.

  • Birthday Calendar and Other Subscriptions Sync Problems

Is there a way for the Birthday calendar (when turned on in the prefs) to be synced to iCal on my iPod Touch?
I've also noticed that my Holiday calendar subscription doesn't sync. Is it that the iPod Touch doesn't sync subscription calendar?
Perhaps this belongs in the iPod Touch discussions.

    1) publish the birthdays calendar from iCal, then
    2) send a publish email to your own email address (one the iPhone checks)
    3) click the link in the email on the phone. It should open iCal on the phone and download the calendar.
You can confirm by going to the calendars main screen. It should have two subcategories now, “Mac.com (MobileMe)” and “Subscribed”.

  • Ipod Calendar and Contact Sync Issues?!!!

    Quick note:
    Itunes 7.6.1
    Ipod 1.1 (latest)
    OS X 10.5.2
    Hi guys,
I have a 3rd generation ipod nano (4GB). It has been working fine since January but it has had trouble in the last month. I noticed about two weeks ago that my ipod nano had no contacts and no calendar events on it. I went into itunes and it was set to sync all contacts and calendars. It just wouldn't sync them. The ipod had over 2GB available free space. Software is all updated.
Unclicking and reclicking the settings didn't work, so I did unset and unplugged, etc etc. Nothing worked.
So I reformatted the ipod completely. That fixed the problem for awhile but not a week later it's started up again. when I go to my ipod it says it can only sync 21 of my contacts because:
"Only limited portion of your contacts could be loaded due to the amount of content on this ipod."
The ipod has 2.5GB available this time! None of the calendars are synced at all. It syncs my music no problem..
So what the heck is going on and what can I do?! I'm out of ideas.

This is a known issue with the current iPod nano firmware. Nothing is going to 'solve' it but an update from Apple. However, it's not nearly as serious as it seems. After you sync your Calendars and Contact (and Notes, they are affected by this issue, too), they often will not appear, but a simple reset will always 'refresh the iPod's memory'. (And you do that by turning the hold switch on and then off, and then holding down the centre button and menu button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the iPod reboots.)
This is not actually an issue with Contacts or Calendars failing to sync. It's an issue with the iPod failing to recognise that they've been synced. A simple reset always solves it in my case and many others.

I can't delete events recurring annually...not part of birthday calendar, these are events I've added manually.  I've tried delete key, cut event, changing to no recurrence, they just revert to original recurrence and will not be removed from my calendar.  Events that occur weekly I'm able to delete, this is only happening with events recurring annually.  Very frustrating.  Thanks for any ideas.

If you are using a PC, log on to iCloud using Safari (rather than Explorer) to reset the photostream. Then turn iPhone/iPad photostream off and back on. I was getting the same server error as you and this advice from another blog worked for my iPhone and iPad.  But I still can't get photostream deleted from my apple tv. There does not seem to be a photostream on/off control In Apple tv 4.4 software.  I tried switching the screen saver to one of the ones that comes preloaded on the device, then back to photostream but all the old photos are still there.  If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it.
