Putting a still picture from my movie into a button

How do I do this?
I want to find a shot from my movie and have that show up in my little button.

While in iMovie, you can Save Frame to create a still. This can be used for some buttons by dragging it into that area (although you may wish to crop the still to better suit the small viewing area).

Hello,
the last update brings the capability of making still pictures. When i am making a still picture from a movie-file (.mov, .mpeg, .mp4) comressed with h264, the still picture is not shown correctly in the viewer.
But when making a still photo from an .avi, the photo is displayed in the viewer.

in case, you did partition it: on System Partition?
should be never below 10-15GB..

Making still picture from movie

I made a still picture from my movie. (which you can do in the old iMovie) but it won't let me drag it into iMovie08. The still picture shows up as a mp4. Is there a way to convert to jpeg? How can I make a picture out of a movie and have it work in iMovie 08? Thanks

You can, of course, convert an MP4 frame to a JPEG compressed PICT image file using any application have access to the QT conversion structure. But wouldn't it be easier to just create/copy a JPEG image from within iMovie '08?
1) Select the frame you want in the event window and move it to any iMovie '08 project using the "Add Still Frame to Project" context menu option.
2) Highlight the "still frame" segment now in the project window and select the "Reveal in Finder" context menu option.
3) Move/use the "revealed" JPEG image files as needed/desired or open it in the "Preview" application to save it in another image compression format to any "visible" drive location.

Capturing still pictures from a digital camcorder

I use a Canon mini DV digital camcorder and want to capture some still pictures from the movies to place in a book I am doing in IPHOTO....is this possible?

If your canon mini dv camcorder is anything like mine then keep in mind that while shooting you have the option of taking great hi res images as well as continuous high quality video. You just have to make the extra effort to push the photo button if you happen to see a great shot. You can capture the image to an SD card most likely or to tape (I prefer SD Cards for still images).
Or as stated above already you can make your own still from the actual video footage (altho usually at a lower resolution).

Select all the photos that you need to change, then click the "Photos" menu and choose "Adjust Date and Time".
If you add a year, it will adjust all the photos that you selected by adding a year (so if you accidentally select one of the photos that already has "2012", that will change to "2013").

To my knowledge, pictures in photo stream stay there untill there is more than 1000 of them, then after that the oldest ones are removed from photo stream. If your photos have synced to your devices via photo stream or manual syncing they will be there until you elect to delete them.

I'm able to export stills from iMovie without anything extra. I create a new project - call it Exports say. Now, in your event clip with the frames you want as stills, select a single frame and drag it into your project. Repeat for other stills you want to export. Then choose Share -> Export Using QuickTime.
In the pop-up, choose Movie to Image Sequence. Click Options and choose the image format you want. Playing with the number of stills lets you pick how many stills you want from each second of video. Hit OK and the stills will be generated in the directory you choose.
I've only done this with HD video. Don't know how well it works with lower res, interlaced vid.

Assuming you have iMovie 11 (also known as Version 9.0.4), here is how you do it. (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different).
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then use this photo in Photoshop, Pixelmator, Acorn, or the app of your choice to add text.

Can you get a still picture from an iMovie video and import it into iPhoto as a photo?

To save a still frame from recent versions of iMovie 10., move playhead to frame that you want and select File - Share - Image. Enter name and location. I guess you can import the file into iPhoto from there (I don't use iPhoto myself).

Cant add still pictures from iPhoto

I am trying to add still pictures from iPhoto to a iMovie I am doing. I go to my media browser and click on photos. This brings up my iPhoto Library and albums. When I drag a photo into the time line, the clips move to make room, the photo appears in the time line, the default effect renders, but then a hear a beep, no message pops up and the picture disseapears from the time line. Any ideas??

Making a still clip from a movie

I have done this before.....but now I cannot figure out how to do it.
I want to make a still image from a movie clip. Now I know edit>create still frame. Tha creats the still frame as a still frame in quick time, and it cannot be opened as a regular picture. I have done it before (so it opens as a regular picture that you can crop and edit and print.........what am I forgetting??

Just as an alternative to Catspaw's correct advice. There's also a free app you can download from Version Tracker called 'Capture Me'. It will take a screen capture jpg image of the frame you want to save. Even if you don't use it for your iMovie project it's a cool little app that has many uses.

The problem is that I burned these CD's myself from music that I added from my personal collection to iTunes. The INFO is ON the CD's (it appears perfectly when I put the CD in my Numark mixer...so I know the info is on the CD), but for some reason, my MAC PRO will NOT read the info on the burned CD when I place the CD into the MAC PRO. The CD was burned on a MAC that I no longer own. But there HAS to be a way to transfer songs from a burned CD with the INFO that is on the CD burned with iTunes.

Window 8.1 is not allowing Elements Organizer 11 to import pictures from SD card into Organizer

After installing Windows 8.1, I am no longer able to import pictures from SD card into Organizer as Elements simply stops working after Import from Card reader is selected. Obviously I am shutdown from importing pictures.

Windows 8.1 is not allowing Elements Organizer 11 to import pictures from SD Card in card reader into Elements Organizer. The Elements Program goes to a blue circle and the program times out.
I have:
Tried different SD cards
Tried different card readers,
I can import off files or folders. However card reader does not show up on this menu within Elements.
There is obviously some workaround that could be contemplated BUT Elements Organizer cannot import from SD card in card reader and this is a very inconvenient situation. It worked fine in Windows 8.0.
I would appreciate a reply. Thank you.
