Qosmio G20: Need Vista Toshiba Common Modules & Utilities

I have a Qosmio G20 and have recently upgraded to Windows Vista - Home Premium
I need to update my Common Modules Driver and Toshiba Utilities - can anyone help me?

Hi Paul
Unfortunately, you will have no success to find Toshiba Vista drivers or utilities for Qosmio G20!
It looks like Toshiba has released only single common Vista drivers like Wireless Lan Driver, Bluetooth Stack, etc. These drivers are not especially designed for G20 series but you can use it on notebooks with the same WLan card or BT card.
However, the Toshiba Vista drivers were not released for Qosmio G20 or F20.
Did you check this?

The FranciscoJr is a god father of Vista on Qosmio G20 ;)
Recommend checking this useful, fantastic thread.

  • Satellite 5205-S703 (Windows XP Pro SP2) and TOSHIBA Common Modules

    I have a notebook:
    Toshiba Satellite 5205-S703.
After installing Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 i can't install TOSHIBA Common Modules (file: s140acpx.exe).
During installing this programm gives the message:
"The installation is failure. Please make sure its reason then retry install".

    Hello
Did you install the unit with WXP full version that includes SP2? The download file is the right one.
I really have no idea why this happen. The only what I can recommend to you is to remove SP2. Install the unit completely and after that install SP2 again.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite A205-S7464: How to install Toshiba Common Modules for XP Pro SP2

    Greetings all.
I have a new laptop that came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Premium as they tend to.
Vista does not run a number of the programs I need to run, I've found, and I really don't like it that much anyway..
I have decided to install Windows XP.
I partitioned the HD and ran the installer to a new partition on the drive with all of the drivers I've collected for XP sleepstreamed into my retail XP Professional disc. This is no problem. I got everything up and going just fine. My only problem now (well, other than some residual issues with the original Vista partition) is that I can't get the proprietary Toshiba utilities going so that I can use for example the FN+ commands, power management options, etcetera.
I have experimented around with a couple of different versions of the Common Modules drivers and other utilities but have of yet been unable to get things moving in the direction I would like them to move.
The main thing really is the control for FN+F6 and F7 (Adjusting brightness), as the monitor on this beast kills a battery.
I've tried Toshiba support, but with no luck.
I know the Vista to XP downgrade is a pretty common move, so if anybody has been there and could give me a little step by step guidance in getting things working I would be forever indebted.
The model is Toshiba Satellite A205-S7464, Part No. PSAF3U-07300V.
Let me know if any other information is necessary.
    Thanks in advance, Jacob

It seems to be a notebook series which were delivered only in the USA and therefore all Toshiba drivers and utilities should be installed from the US site.
This is a Toshiba US driver page:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
Where did you find this Common modules driver?
    > I have experimented around with a couple of different versions of the Common Modules drivers and other utilities but have of yet been unable to get things moving in the direction I would like them to move.
I presume you are not able to install these common modules because you have used wrong version which is not designed and not compatible with your notebook.

  • Is Qosmio G20-118 Vista capable?

    Hi.
I´m wondering that almost everyone is updating to Vista but my laptop was bought in November of 2005 and has no Vista Capable stick on it.
Despite not having a duo core processor, but a 760M Centrino, if it will run Vista and wich version?
Would it be capable of running Vista Premium?
Even if it´s only Vista lightest version capable..Will the processor get slower and if an update of 1G memory to 2G memory will benefict the machine time?
    ps: Oh i have a Qosmio G20-118,Processor 760M Centrino 2G, 1G memory (512+512).
    thanks in advance

I really dont understand why you write so stupid comments and sorry if you are not satisfied with my comment. I just try to be realistic. Few my friends have non-Toshiba notebooks and have the same opinion as you have but you must realize that all notebook models will not be supported. I can imagine that in the future you will be able to find some drivers for your Qosmio but probability not in next days.
I have Satellite M70. I have bought this unit last year as you your Qosmio. It is NOT Vista capable notebook but I use Vista over two month now. Sure I can not use some Toshiba specific stuff but I dont care about it.
Many Vista features allow me to use notebook well and I am pretty satisfied. Only problem I have is not enough RAM but it is not important for this discussion.
    > I've never heard of software being so 'different' that makes it impossible to run.
Please buy some PC magazines and inform you about Vista and software compatibility before you write here such funny things.

  • Qosmio G20 - Common Modules Driver blocked by VISTA

    I read this article:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20494&start=0&tstart=0
I still have a problem: at Vista's start-up I see a popup about TOSHIBA Common Modules Driver blocked due incompatibility
    How can I uninstall it?
The registry seems ok, I found one only key and I have deleted it

    >...how to find campatible drivers
That's right but please don't understand word compatibility wrong. Drivers offered by Toshiba download page are definitely designed for certain model and also tested.
Are these compatible drivers tested? Who can guarantee the functionality if you use them?
As I can see you have problems now. So, in my opinion you should contact this source and ask for help. This third part source offers compatible and obviously well working drivers, tools and utilities. ;)
Anyway, have you tried to reinstall VAP designed for Qosmio G30? Maybe it will work well.
Just for info: VAP is package of 7 different tools and one of them is Toshiba Components Common Driver. Try it.
You know, I have noticed that Toshiba has offered Vista support for some old WXP notebooks and also new BIOS update for Vista. Is BIOS version on your Qosmio 1.40?

  • "Common module" missing for XP on Satellite Pro A200

    Hello everyone,
I received my Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7) laptop with a Vista OS.
I have made a fresh & clean XP installation on it using the Toshiba's installation instructions document.
Everything is working fine except my Fn+F6 Fn+F7 Fn+F8 hotkeys for Wireless and screen brightness.
I have made a few search over the internet and I found that page :
Looks like that I need to setup "common module" installer in order to make work those hotkeys.
But the problem is that the "common module" is not available on the driver page for XP ....
If I change the OS type to Vista there is "Value Added Package" available but it's not compatible on XP ...
I tried to download and setup a "common module" for Sat Pro A120 model but i got an "TVALZ" error during the installation ....
Did Toshiba support forget to put online a "common module" installer for XP for Sat Pro A200 ??
    How can I make work my Fn+F6 Fn+F7 Fn+F8 hotkeys ?
Any help will be really appreciated !
    Thanks,
    Can

    Hello darkmatterman,
First of all thanks for you reply and for your tips about the Bios version (Vista vs XP).
The first day I received my laptop on Vista OS, I already made a Bios update "the Vista compatible one". So my Bios is v1.70 actually.
I will try monday morning to update the latest XP compatible Bios version which is v5.20...
Do you know if it's possible to apply the latest XP bios upgrade on a bios which was already been upgraded with a Vista compatible version ?
And if the XP comptabile Bios upgrade works, do you think that I will need to setup my fresh XP again (with all Toshiba drivers & utils setup order...) ?

  • Cannot install Common-modules on Portege M300

    Hello everybody,
I'm Italian and I had some problems with a Portege M300. After Windows XP crash I made a new installation of XP but, of course, I lost every driver. I tried to install them but I can't do it 'cause there's not the Toshiba common modules installed.
I downloaded it but when I try to click on the setup icon nothing happens, and when I try to install other drivers same message appear (of missing common modules).
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot

And you try to install THIS version?

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? Not needed to install Windows Vista

    Hello,
I am new at this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in Brazil. I own a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a fresh install of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100),for audio (Soundmax), for TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (toshiba modem), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install Toshiba nvidia display driver, Toshiba Bluetooth (monitor and stack), Toshiba texas flash media driver, toshiba RAID (driver and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.
Below some pictures of my G20 Desktop screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen1.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen2.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen3.jpg
And here is an example of using deskscapes animated backgrounds with Windows Vista, called dreamscene.
    It is in paused mode
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen4.jpg
To perform a fresh install of windows Vista:
Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
    1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.
    4. Choose the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".
    6. Press "Install Now".
    7. Type in your Product Key then press "Next".
    8. Accept the license terms by checking the box then press "Next".
    9. When asked "What type of installation do you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. When asked "Where do you want to install Windows", make sure your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, then click on "Load Driver".
    11. Browse to the location you have copied the RAID drivers to then press "OK".
    12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
    13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
    14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
Now you will need the Toshiba drivers for your Qosmio G20:
    See the Device manager info:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg
    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/SD_memory.rar
    2. Bluetooth monitor and stack
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_mon.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/flasmedia.rar
    And finally the Toshiba utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree
    Toshiba Assist
    RAID utilities
    Remote control manager
    Toshiba SD Memory utilities
    That's it...
So I must tell to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.
Hope this helps people who need and want to install Windows Vista Aero on their Qosmio G20 machines.

This is a step by step guide for those of you with problems to get Windows Vista functional on your G20 Qosmios
Use a Windows Vista English Version RTM Ultimate 6000 DVD for installation.
1 Backup your personal files and important data to a removable device, CD, DVD, flashmedia, pendrive, etc...
2.Check your Qosmio player installation. if nedeed, reinstall it with the latest version (multilanguage), posted on Toshibas site (download drivers section).
3.Download and copy the Toshiba RAID drivers to a removable media
Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
4.To perform a fresh install of Windows Vista, Follow the steps below
-1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.

-12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
-13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
-14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
    5. Go to Microsoft update and download all important updates available. If you wish you can install your native language, if other than English, from the Microsoft site.
let Windows install all the drivers found for your Qosmio G20.
    6. Reboot your machine and follow with the steps below.
    DRIVERS YOU MUST INSTALL:
    1. Alps pointing device driver (This is from Alps and working fine with your Qosmio G20)
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/alpsdriver.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmioalps.jpg
During the installation, Windows will complain that you are installing an early device driver. Do not attempt to this, Install it anyway.
This is because the Windows driver for this device is originally installed with a more recent date and version from that you are trying to install.
But the driver posting here is the correct from the Alps for your Qosmio g20.

    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
To install the nvidia 97.52, you must do it manually:
    open the Device manager
look for the Video adapter/nvidia Gforce go6600
    Driver update options
Look for a driver in computer
Choose a list of device drivers in computer
    With disc...
Lool for the place you've extracted the nvidia 97.52.rar
Find the nvts.inf and open it
You will come to the following screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmionvidiainstall.jpg
From a list choose your video card (go6600) and install it.
If you think it is difficult, please see the VIDEO Nvidiainstall.avi:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidiainstall.rar
After the extraction, play it with Windows media Player
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/flasmedia.rar
5.SoundMAX integrated digital audio. Driver 5.12.1.5410
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/soundmax5.12.1.5410.rar
run the setup.exe and at first remove the driver you have installed on your Qosmio G20.
    reboot the computer
Run the setup.exe again and install the new driver. At some install point, Windows Vista will need a confirmation, if you trust Analog devices incorporated to goes on..
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiosoundmaxinstall.jpg
Continue with the installation and after finishing the process, test the functionallity of the new driver
    OR
If your G20 model is using the Sigmatel HD audio chipset, so you must install other driver than the Soundmax integrated digital audio
It is the SigmaTel HD Audio Driver for Windows Vista Version: 6.10.0.5324
    link:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/sigmatelhd.rar

    > Bluetooth ACPI from TOSHIBA

    >Alps Pointing-device Driver (Isn't this the touchpad?)
    >TOSHIBA Utilities
    >Microsoft Interactive Training (Don;t know what this is..)
Thank you in advance for all your help, i tried searching the Tishiba Download Centre for some updates but none of them are very recent.

    Hello Magnus
Nice info. Thanks. But please be careful. Those drivers are designed for US notebooks and it is nice if they work with EMEA notebooks.
For example I dont like to mix it but there should not be much difference. The problem can be with Toshiba tools and utilities only and because of that I recommend you to install from Toshiba Europe download page, when available.

  • Common Modules Driver for Portege M200 under Vista

I have upgraded my Portege M200 to Vista with relatively few issues - However I am getting error message on the compatibility of the Common Modules Driver - I don't seem to be able to find an upgrade - Any ideas?

    >I have upgraded my Portege M200 to Vista with relatively few issues - However I am getting error message on the compatibility of the Common Modules Driver - I don't seem to be able to find an upgrade - Any ideas?
According to you message you have UPGRADED the XP to Vista and I presume you did not perform a clean install of Vista.
This could be the reason why the Common Modules error message appears!
However, maybe Im wrong and you have made a clean Vista installation.
I this case its very important to install the Vista driver and tools in the right order.
The Value added package includes some Tools like TOSHIBA Flash Cards, TOSHIBA Password or TOSHIBA Utilities. All these programs must be installed *After* the installation of TOSHIBA Components Common Driver.

  • Qosmio G20-127: Screen blackout after closing the lid on Vista

    Hi,
I have Qosmio G20-127 and I've recently installed Vista Ultimate Edition (32-bit). I managed to bring everything to its place (except the magic buttons, but the drivers are not out yet), but I have a problem that is seriously making me reconsider going back to XP MCE.
When I close the lid of my computer the display naturally goes off, but when I open it up again it does not turn on, but it stays black. And I can't make it turn on again no matter what. I have to turn off the entire computer and that is quite impractical.
Funny thing is that after restart for about 20-30 minutes I can open and close the lid normally, but after a little longer work on the computer the same problem occurs.
The problem persists even after I turned off every action remotely connected to closing the lid.
    Does anyone have any solution?

    Hi J,
thanks for your help but my BIOS update won't install. I get the message "[Error] BIOS Update is not supported OS. Unsupported OS or service pack is installed."
About the powersaver, I didn't install additional powersaver program as I was told it would conflict with Vista's Mobility Center (FranciscoJr's Guide to installing Vista), but all the options regarding closing lid are turned off (Do nothing option).
There are two more new things I observed and might be indicative of the problem, but I don't know what to make of it.
    1. When I close the lid I hear 'disconnected device sound'
    2. And the screen sometimes comes back if the s-video cable (leading to my tv) is plugged out (usually it was always in coz I use Q20 as a media center as well)
Of course that made me think that it might be a problem in Graphic Card, but I've installed the most recent driver.
So now I'm pretty much clueless as what to do.

I have a continuing problem with the power adapter socket into the laptop. It has always been loose and has caused charging difficulties. Eventually the adapter broke and I purchased another and the same thing happened! I am on my 4th adapter which has now stopped working! Is there any way the socket can be changed for something a little more robust?
I know I sound like a clumsy klutz but there are three other laptops in the house which have never given me any problems.
Can anyone out there advise or help?
