QT 7.2 installer for Tiger ?

Anyone know where I can get the QT 7.2 installer for Tiger (PPC Mac)?
I've searched all over Apple's download site and the only versions I can find there are 7.4 and 7.4.1
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Thanks. That's a great link.
In the meantime, I found the specific download in a thread in the Final Cut Express forum.

  • My Power Mac stuck in installation for Tiger.

i tried to install tiger to my power mac G5. One of the disks i found broken, and it wont let me exit the installer,
I dont want to be on tiger, i just want to use my mac.
Maybe there is a way to either exit the installer, or reboot the mac.
    Thanks,
PS. my warranty ran out a year ago

You'll need to power down the Mac, then Repair the Hard Drive.
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

If it was the 2nd Disc that messed up, That second Disc thing happens frequently, the best way around it is to do a Custom install, and eliminate enough Printer Drivers, Languages, Fonts, and Applications you don't need... then it may skip #2 altogether.

  • After Installing - Cannot Complete Installs for Programs

I installed Snow Leopard and it seemed to be running fine after I granted myself Admin access again.
However, I tried running the installs for multiple programs including a security update to the OS, iLife and iWork - the installs get to "Preparing Installation" and freeze.
I have tried leaving some of these installs up for up to 48 hours and there is no progress.
Yahoo Messenger also freezes on sign in with a similar problem.
How do I fix this so that I may use Yahoo Messenger and run installs again?

I suggest you might try this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If this doesn't help any, then reinstall SL.
To upgrade iLife and iWork you will have to purchase the '09 versions. There is no free upgrade path from '08 versions.

  • Basic Partitioning ? (For Tiger Install)

A reading of some of the tech forums at the ExPostFacto site strongly suggest partitioning as a preparation for installing Tiger. My only experience with partitioning is with FWB Hard Disk Toolkit, running under system 9.1 (as yet I have no experinece with System X). This may be a very basic question, but, if I use FWD HDK to partition a drive under System 9.1, will System X (after it is later installed) correctly recognize the partitions created while in System 9?
As I recall FWB HDK requires that it install its own driver on a hard disk before partitioning can be done. Is this any problem on a new firewire drive for later use for installation of Tiger?
I also have Silverlining Pro 6.4.3 which came with my newest hard drive that could be used for partitioning. Is there any advantage of this over FWB HDK? (I have experience using FWB HDK under System 9, so would prefer this other things being equal.)
    Thanks for your comments.
G3 Beige mini tower   Mac OS 9.1.x   Sonnet G4 800MHz upgrade; 640 MB RAM

I have been using the two internal SCSI drives for years, and have mirroring enabled via the FWB HDTK.
I do not know whether FWB RAID Toolkit mirrors can survive the transition to Mac OS X. I have version 4.5, but have never tried it. It is not mentioned as a useful formatter on the XPostFacto site, but I do not recall it being precluded, either. Maybe you should try it and see if it works.
If the source drive (for system 9.1 and EPF) must have been formatted with Mac utilites (as you put it) then I guess I will have to buy a new external SCSI drive to hold the resident System 9.1 and ExPostFacto.
You have said that your Wide SCSI drives cannot be reformatted for use with X because they have been formatted with FWB Tools. I wanted to be sure you understand they can be. Mac OS X also contains built-in RAID software, but it has a quirk -- the drives are not supported and do not mount under Mac OS 9.
If you have the standard SCSI "Server" set-up with The Apple/ATTO PCI PSC card and the long internal cable, you are limited to the approx. three feet of high-speed cable provided inside the cabinet, and that external high-speed devices are precluded, because it would make the cable too long for reliable operation. But your Tower has space and cabling for three high-speed SCSI drives, if you count the standard "roof-mount" bracket over the power supply. You could also remove the CD drive or Floppy to gain drive space, or use the slower built-in narrow SCSI bus, internal and/or external.
As to installing the EPF helper files/disk, I am a little unclear on this. However, if I obtain a new external SCSI drive, I assume it will be bootable on the G3 internal SCSI chain and thus helper files will not be necessary? I though helper files/disk were only necessary to allow booting from a firewire drive?
XPostFacto performs two different tricks that use a number of files, the most obvious of which is named BootX, and a number of old and new extensions to support older hardware and normally-unsupported drives. I have sloppily referred to both scenarios as using "Helper Files".
    A) To boot an unsupported Mac, BootX and the old extensions are first installed onto a Hard Drive, then the standard Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 files are added to it to produce an old-Mac bootable System.
    B) To boot a drive that has no ROM support (and would therefore be unbootable because its driver is out on the drive, and cannot be booted until the driver is loaded) a "Helper Drive" is used. This is accomplished using a supported hard drive that has extensions, BootX, and the driver for the "unsupported" device loaded onto it, but it may not have a full System. You boot to a tiny System that contains the driver needed to boot the real System from the "unsupported" device.
If you are going to use 10.3 or 10.4, it may not be necessary to have more than one partition for Mac OS 9 and Classic. It may not even be necessary to have a separate partition for Mac OS 9, since hard Disk journalling has greatly reduced the instances of Mac OS 9 and X stepping on each other.
Mac OS 9 and X can read each other's files, so your Mac OS 9 partition (or partitions, as you see fit) can be as small as about 0.8 Gigabytes. If you have an old 1 GB narrow SCSI drive kicking around, you can use that for your Mac OS 9 partition. [ Just get a rock to perform the doorstop function and put the 1 GB SCSI drive back into the Mac ]
I have seen a case under Mac OS 10.3 where the beige G3 insisted on enforcing the <8 GB limit on the built-in SCSI bus, But I am not sure whether that was an isolated incident. I believe Mac OS 10.4 and XPostFacto may have eliminated this restriction.

  • Classic option does not work in new installation of Tiger

This problem is in a new installation of Tiger 10.4.6 on a G4 Cube. First I ought to say I am really happy with the Tiger OS. It runs really well on my Cube. The problem is - the Classic option in the System Preference folder will not open. It starts up like it will, tells me I should update the Quicken version to 6.3, and when it has finished opening it flashes a Classic icon in the dock, which just as quickly disappears. I have tried to open it by opening an application that needs it to run, and I have tried to open it with extensions off, with the same result.
I can reboot to OS 9.2.2 and I have done that several times with no problem. I just wonder why the Classic option in Tiger is not working? Could it be a memory problem: not enough? I have 384MB

    Malcolm,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I read that there might be a possible extension problem in Classic, and I did try it with the extensions off as you suggested. It still will not start up. I will try again later from a "clean" start, and if all else fails I will call apple support, but I hate to do that as it's a bit like never, never land.

  • First time installation of tiger

    GREETINGS!
i am on 10.2.8 on a gigabit ethernet 450do. it has never had the disk erased since i got it new, with os9.
i just got a 10.4.6 install replacement dvd from applecare.
when i finally get a clone made of my computer, should i erase the disk and install, being it is eight years old? i'm wondering if that wil give me any added performance, stability - or?
otherwise should/can i do an archive and install from 10.2.8 to 10.4.6?
last - and i know there is a lot of controversy over this - should i install the os on its own partition, and if so, how big should it be?
same for the external hd - it is brand new [today!] with nothing on it yet; should i partition that, and/or put the os on its own partition?
thanks very much - and happy thanksgiving!
    chris in ny

Were I you I would make your clone then test the clone to be sure it will boot the computer. Then boot from the Tiger DVD and do an Erase and Install which will completely wipe the drive before installing Tiger.
Obviously you could partition the drive if you want but there is no compelling reason to do so.
If I were you I would also reformat the external drive before you clone to it and reformat the main drive as well:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. There is no SMART info for an external drive. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.

  • Install Options for Tiger

    Hello All:
I want to upgrade my current system (OS X 10.3.9) to Tiger -- something I've never done before. Over the course of trying to read up on and prepare for this procedure, I've noticed mention of a couple of options (maybe there's more I don't know of) that the installer must choose from: "Archive and Install" and "Clean Install" (I may not have the wording exactly right). I don't really know much about these options and the circumstances for selecting one or the other, but presumably making the the proper choice here is critical. I was wondering if someone could please explain these install options -- and any others that may exist alongside them -- and advise me on what might be the proper choice for upgrading my machine. (If I need to provide more system information to facilitate an effective response, please let me know...) Thanks much for any help!

You can start with this article. In your case you would likely choose between an Upgrade Install and an Archive and Install. Here's how the latter is performed:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
An Archive and Install would be preferred because it installs a fresh copy of OS X as opposed to a mixture of old and new as in an Upgrade install. It's less likely to cause problems, but it may require a liitle more effort because items stored in the /Library/ folder are not preserved and may need to be moved by hand from the old system to the new one.

  • Reasonable pricing for Tiger install DVD?

(I'm not sure if this sould go here, but don't know where it would fit better)
I have a iMacG3 and I want to upgrade it to Tiger (leopard isn't going to work, the processor is only 400MHz)
but I don't know what sould be a reasonable price for the retail DVD
I want to get the DVD but I can't even find it and I don't feel like paying more then it's worth, especially sins I don't have that much anyway
    also I was wondering
I know a store that has the DVD, for the tec-support
and they can install it but I won't actually get the DVD,
but if I don't have the DVD but only the software, doesn't that mean I also wouldn't have a license? I want to get it legaly and I don't think that will be legal, anyone knows this for sure?

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) (See Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac? ). Expect to pay (possibly a lot) more than the Apple list price of $129.
Also check this web store http://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/index.cgi?command=dispitem&type= sku&sku=19521
Possible Alternative if you are currently using Panther 10.3 – Do a Google search for Tiger 10.4 Upgrade DVD . It will upgrade your 10.3 to 10.4, but it doesn’t contain the full retail Tiger installer. Should be cheaper than the retail Tiger install DVD.
After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page
    http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/install/
You can also download the Tiger Installation and Setup Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/TigerInstall_SetupGuide.pdf
When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.

  • Xcode for tiger

I was running xcode on my system and had to re-install a compressed image from a recovery disk due to booting problems. Now my xcode doesn't work. I tried downloading a new version, but the new one on dev website runs only on leopard.
Does anybody have a link for Xcode for tiger (or any other suggestions)?
    Thx!

The XCode Tools disc that came with your computer's original discs has the installer. You can download older versions than Leopard's at developer.apple.com. You will need to register for membership but basic membership is free and will give you access to all the XCode installers.

  • Is there a place to download address book for tiger?

I was dumb and pasted my address book from my laptop which runs 10.5, to my G5 which is still on 10.4...so I pasted the address book application to the G5, overwriting the original file and the new file doesn't want to open...so is there a way to get the old address book from somewhere??

You don't need to download Address Book, nor can you. It's on your 10.4 install/restore disc. You just need to insert the disc, navigate to the Optional Installs folder, open the Optional Installs.mpkg file and check the box to install Address Book and run the installer.
You will also need to run Software Update to update your system to 10.4.11 if you haven't already done that, or apply the 10.4.11 Combo Update again to update Address Book to the latest revision for Tiger.

  • Error in Plugin Installation For MS Office 2013 on Windows 8 and 8.1

    Hello,
We have developed an installer for MS Word and MS Excel plugins. So far it has been working fine for MS Office 2003, 2007 etc. but since I have upgraded to a Windows 8.1 machine with MS Office 2013 installed, the plugin installation is giving error.
The installation fails and an error dialog appears with Error Code Type: Error, Error:1, Owner:30a.
The installer works well for MS Office 2010 on Windows 8/ 8.1 machine or MS Office 2010 on Windows 7 machine.

    HiDinesh,
Is there any other error message when installation fails?
According to this error message “Error Code Type: Error, Error:1, Owner:30a.”
This is problem conclusion provided by IBM:
This issue is no longer reproducible in V6R2012x.
Installation checks have been modified to throw an error only when none of the Office applications
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) are installed. This error will not occur if one or more of the Office products are installed.

  • Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?

Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks so much for your time.

I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

  • How do I create an installer for my project that allows for variable data entry like a server unc path?

    Hello All,
I have a questions and a few hours of scouring the internet hasn't brought me much closer to an answer.
Here's what I want to do. I have created a visual c# wpf application. I want to have an installer that during install time will have a text box or something where I can enter a server path as a string. Basically my application needs to know where to look
for a server unc path \\server\somesharedfolder that it will be accessing primarily for its work. Secondly, how do I reference said information from within my code.
I have come across application/user scoped settings, which appears to be what I'm looking for. However I can't find a way to have the installer prompt for a value "Server Path:" __________ that I could type into during installation. So far it appears
the only way would be to edit the config.deploy file before running the installer, which isn't a big deal but you'd think there'd be an easy way to take in variables during install.
EDIT: Apparently I can't edit the config.deploy file as I get an error message about the hash not matching.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
The forums I found confusing, didn't know the best place to put this question so I put it here.
I have found the answer over at stackoverflow and will detail here for anyone who may stumble across the same problem.
The problem is ClickOnce seemingly doesn't support this feature. Installshield LE either doesn't or does but its incredibly too complicated if all you need is one variable passed to the registry during installation. And it seems the words used for googling
this particular problem will never lead you to the solution.
So here's how to do it (we will be first adding the Visual Studio Installer Add-on to restore original installer project functionality):
    1) Inside of visual studio 2013 go to Tools -> Extensions and Updates
    2) On the left-hand side click on Online -> Visual Studio Gallery
    3) In the upper-right search box search for "Visual Studio Installer"
    4) Download the extension labeled "Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Projects"
    5) Install, then open a new project under Templates -> Other Project Templates -> Visual Studio Installer -> Setup Project
    6) Now for the gold. In the solution explorer there are icons in a bar just below its title bar, highlight till you see "User Interface Setup" and open it.
    7) Now you can right click on Start, Progress, End etc any Category heading and hit Add Dialog.
    8) From here for my purposes, I used TextBoxes A
    9) Once you add it, click on it and observe its properties window. You will see Label, Property, and Value. Make a note of the property name as it will be used to store the data directly into the registry. *Note: there appears to be no way to perform data
validation using the built in textbox dialogs, users can enter whatever they want and move on.
    10) Go to the registry editor on the same icon bar under solution explorer.
    11) Specify your registry folder, make a new value (I used string) and name it whatever you like. In the value section enter the property label formatted as such   [EDITA1]   depending on your value.
    12) Now when you run the installer for your project, it will take data into that field and place it into the registry provided it has access to that key with the permissions you run the program under.

  • You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation

    Hi all
Have seen a couple threads regarding this but unfortunately nothing that solves my problem thus far!
Right now, our developers are using the Domain Admin account to promote their website code using MSI files.  I'd like to change this as I feel the Domain Admin account should be on lock down and only used when absolutely necessary, pretty common.  The
same goes for my account too, I would like to absolve as much use of the Domain Admin as I can.
Problem is, when they run installers from their own accounts, they receive this error: You do not have sufficient privileges
to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation
The accounts they are using are part of the Built In Administrators group and the Domain Admins group... I'm not sure what other permission you'd need in a domain?  We've gone as far as explicitly giving them local admin access on this server and still
    nothing changes.
Is there a Group Policy or something that I can change to provide install rights and possibly remove these accounts as Domain Admin and more along the line of Power User?
    Thanks much for your help!
