QTVR in 64 bit Vista

I am using the latest QT (7.6.4) and recently created a QTVR file from ArcSoft's PanoramaMaker. When I look at the file on our laptop, which is running Vista 32-bit, it works fine. When I run it on my tower which is running the 64-bit version, Quicktime just hangs. One time I saw something about not enough memory.

QuickTime Player for Windows isn't supported in 64 bit mode.
Use the "compatibility mode" on the app to restore its functionality when using a 64 bit OS.

  • QTVR and 64-Bit Vista

My company uses QTVR files extensively in our projects. We recently started buying new workstations with 64-bit Vista. Now none of our QTVR files can be viewed on the new workstations. Apparently this is a known problem and Apple has not addressed it. 7.6 came out today and guess what, it still doesn't work. Come on Apple when is this going to be addressed?
I'm a Mac fan and have them at home. I would love to get Macs into the office, but when things like this happen its hard to make that recommendation.

    I Agree!

  • Sync File Corruption with 64-bit Vista/iTunes

I'm getting some file corruption problems when trying to sync my new 16GB iPhone with the latest 64-bit iTunes (7.6.0.29). "yes I have the 64-bit version".
The sync seems to go correctly, but I have yet to be able to play any videos all the way through. Videos purchased from iTunes as well as self encoded files. All said files were working on my 60GB iPod Video with previous versions of iTunes on the same 64-bit Vista machine.
The videos will start playing fine, but will eventually reach a point in the file that was corrupted during transfer, the audio will drop out and the video will distort, then it exits from the video as if it reached the end of the file. No error messages or anything. If I play the file again, it will do the same thing at the exact same spot, so its a problem in the file. Now, if I remove the file and add it back, the file still has the same problem, but in a different location, which means the source is fine, but the copy to the device during the sync is the issue.
To test, I synced the exact same content from my notebook which is 32-bit XP, and zero problems. So I'm currently just using my notebook for syncing at the moment.
Anyone else with 64-bit Vista have a similar issue?

    Hello
I have a couple troubleshooting steps I would like you to try. I myself do not have a 64 bit Vista so I can not test this to confirm if the same issue occurs or not.
    1. Attempt to Sync content using each of the USB Ports. See if all USB Ports pose the same issue with the video. Or if you found when where it does not occur.
    2. Test on a new user on the Vista Machine. If possible take at least one or 2 movies and copy them onto a flash drive or something. And bring them into iTunes on a new user account. You may need to Authorize that user and De-authorize when your done. Does the same issue occur?
    3. If you perform a reboot on the iPhone, Then Sync Data over. Does the same issue occur?
    4. If possible could you restore the iPhone. Then Re-sync and see if same issue occurs.
    5. Is this happening with all videos? or only certain ones? Does the corruption occur at the same time frame every time? If so is it the same time frame for all videos or slightly different?
    6. Perform an Uninstall and Reinstall of iTunes on your system, See if same issue occurs.
Let us know how it goes.

  • How To Get Ipod Touch 2nd Gen to work with 64 bit Vista / Vista Ultimate

Okay, so I just got me a 2nd Gen Ipod Touch for X-Mas..I decided to take a break and get this puppy installed on my HP Tablet. Like many of you, I struggled in frustrations. I hate Apple Support. Notice their method to resolve all of their issues in regards to Itunes not working or Touch not working is to just REINSTALL ITUNES....doesnt solve anything. I have a solution.
For many of you, this may work, for those that are experiencing the same problem, please read below.
    What I am using:
    HP Tablet TX1000
Platform: Windows Vista - Ultimate 64 Bit.
I downloaded the 64 bit version of Itunes 8.02...hoping the thing will work, and still after plugging in my brand new ipod... i get an error message saying.
"The IPOD you are using is not recognized by this version of Itunes, please delete and reinstall with 64 bit version of Itunes."
However I did install the 64 bit version of ITUNES on my Vista. Before you guys delete and reinstall again. Do this first to confirm that my solution will help.
Open up Itunes, go to help, click on Run Diagnostics. Select only, Ipod/Iphone Connectivity tests and hit next.
If your Apple Mobile Device Service is RED, it means its not installed or not activated. Please read apple forums for the reactivation of AMDS. *If you are like me and did that help, and realized its not installed,* something on vista is preventing the install.
    Do the following.
    1) Delete ITUNES Completely. When asked for a restart, click No.
    2) Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files and look for the Apple Folder and delete that puppy too.
    3) Redownload the 64 bit Installed and save to your desktop. You will need this later. DONT INSTALL NOW.
    4) Go to the Start/Circle Menu and on the bottom, type RUN in the Search and select the Run Program.
    4) Type msconfig and hit enter.
    5) When the Program pops up, in the General, DE-select normal startup and select. SELECTIVE START UP. and deselect/leave blank START UP ITEMS
    6) Move over to the Start Up Tab, DESELECT ANY VIRUS SCAN PROGRAM You Have Running.
    7) Click Apply then OKAY, and Exit that window.
    8) Now RESTART your computer.
    9) Reinstall ITUNES as done before.
    10) Go to HELP...run the diagnostics as before and your Apple Mobile Device should be green Now.
    11) Close that window. Connect your IPOD.
    12) iTUNES should now recognize your IPOD.
After it works. Go back to MSCONFIG...and on General, put Normal Start Up. Click Okay. Restart.
    Hope that works.
If IPOD is still not recognized, then its a driver issue and I dont know.
The problem I was having was due to Apple Mobile Device Services not being installed.
    Sincerely,
    Dr. SkiLLz. M.D.

This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing.

  • Deskjet 710/720/810/820/1000 Series printers - Patch for 64 bit Vista and Windows 7

There is an issue with the 64 bit Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 or 8.1 drivers that causes the spooler to crash with the following HP Deskjet printers:
    Deskjet 710
    Deskjet 712
    Deskjet 720
    Deskjet 722
    Deskjet 810
    Deskjet 812
    Deskjet 820
    Deskjet 822
    Deskjet 1000
The attached file contains a patch for this issue for Vista and Windows 7.
[The patch does not currently work for Windows 8 or 8.1 x64 systems.  There are some efforts to address this, if a solution is developed it will be posted here.  {Edit - I have not made any progress in getting the patch to work in Windows 8 x64.}]
First make sure the driver for the printer is installed.  If the driver has not been installed go to Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, Local Printer, choose the proper port (for USB-Parallel converters the port will likely be USB001: or perhaps USB002: ), Next, click Windows Update then choose HP for the manufacturer and select the appropriate printer.
Apply the patch as follows: Log into the computer with an administrative account.  Download the patch by clicking on this link or on the paper clip at the end of this post.  Save the patch file to your computer, then unzip it.  Next copy the three DLL files to the following directory:  %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3
Note that %windir% is a system variable that points to the location of the Windows directory. For most systems this will be C:\Windows.  You can click Start, Computer and type %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 in the address bar and it will find the right place.
This can be done from a DOS prompt if DOS is opened with the "run as administrator" command, or from explorer with a copy and paste.  Depending on your UAC settings you may need to provide confirmation.  Also allow the current files to be overwritten if prompted.
This patch is not required and should not applied to a 32 bit version of Vista or Windows 7.
Thanks to extraordinary Microsoft engineer Alan Morris for guidance for the patch.
Update - the following are more detailed installation instructions:
Download the patch from here. Now click on the file and open it, then extract the patch to some directory that is easy to find. (I use c:\temp. If this directory does not exist you can create it as follows: open the administrative DOS prompt by clicking on Start, All Programs, Accessories, then right click on CMD.EXE and select Run as Administrator. Click in the DOS box then type the following:
    MD c:\temp
    CD \temp
Now extract the patch files into the c:\temp directory (extract all, chose c:\temp as the destination).
[Update - Windows security settings may prevent these files from being used, please open Computer, type c:\temp in the address bar and then right click on each of the dll files and select Properties.  If there is a message in Properties indicating the file was downloaded from the internet and may be blocked then unblock the file before proceeding.]
Next click back in the administrative DOS prompt and type the following: (stuff in green is comments, do not type them...)
DIR *.dll (this is just to verify the files are there, it should list hpvdb720.dll, hpvdb820.dll and hpwm5db1.dll and perhaps others.)
Net stop spooler (makes sure the files are not in use.)
Copy  hpvdb720.dll  C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this is for the Deskjet 710/712/720/722)
Copy  hpvdb820.dll  c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this covers the Deskjet 820 and 822)
    Copy  hpwm5db1.dll  c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3(this covers the Deskjet 1000)
    Net Start Spooler
    Exit
[Edit - note that these DLL files will already be in the directory.  You will get a warning asking if it is OK to overwrite the files, say "yes".]
At this point the patch is installed and ready to print.
Note that the printers here do not support USB connections, they have only parallel ports. [Edit - if your printer does have a parallel port use it, this will likely be much less problematic than using a USB-Parallel converter.]   If you use a USB-parallel converter make sure it is supported in your operating system.  The following posts are flagged with USB-parallel cables that are reported to work in Windows 7.   A driver is required for the USB-parallel converter in addition to the driver for the printer.  For supported converters this is typically supplied automatically in Windows 7.  Note:  the proper port to select for the USB-Parallel converters is often USB001:.  I have heard of some cases where the port was USB002: or LPT3: as well.  If the port you are using does not succeed (after applying the patch) try changing the port by going to Start, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer and select Printer Properties, then click on the Ports tab.

Just want to send a thanks.  Purchased a new HP computer with 64 bit Windows 7 and haven't been able to get my 722c to work. This patch worked like a charm!

  • How can I wirelessly print from a 64-bit Windows 7 laptop to a printer on a 32-bit Vista laptop?

My DeskJet 722c is connected to my 32-bit Vista computer.  I would like to print documents out on the printer from my 64-bit HP ProBook S-series laptop, which is running on Windows 7.  I can do this if I disconnect the printer from the 32-bit computer running on Vista and connect it to the computer running Windows 7.  But I don't want to go through the hassel.  How do I connect to the printer from my Windows 7 computer, going through my Local Area Network?  Do I need to install a Windows 7 driver on my Vista machine?  Do I need to install a driver for Vista on my Windows 7 machine?   If so, how do I do this?   I'm confused

    Hello-
I don't think your printer has network ability.

  • 64 Bit Vista Error Message: Itunes has stopped Working

I installed Itunes on my 64 bit Vista OS and it was working fine for about 3 weeks. Now I get an error message when I try to start Itunes now: "Itunes has stopped working"
I searched for a solution on here but it looks like Itunes doesn't support the 64 bit OS I have installed on my computer. I really hope they fix this. I've had my Ipod and Itunes for 2 years now. It's been a pleasure to own and I've bought many Songs from Itunes store. But, if I can't get it to work on my computer I may have to try to sell it for something that will work.
    Thanks, Hairy

    Hello, Sofa_King_Gary.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I see that you are experiencing issues with iTunes closing unexpectedly and you have attempted some troubleshooting steps already.  There are just a couple more steps that I could recommend in the article below.

  • Acrobat9 for 64 bit Vista, program locks up at Form Wizard Import, why?

I installed Acrobat 9 Pro Complete (30 day trial) Version into my 64 bit Vista PC. After doing one Acrobat program required update to Windows, the program fully installed. When I go to Form Wizard, put in the name of a pdf file to open and click NEXT the program whites out and a error box pops up: Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Close Program." Any suggestions of what I can do? Bob--

It turned out to be a failing disk drive, the drive that had the catalog on it.
I had to set up the disk check tool, which had to be run on boot up because the disk had the user profiles on it. (explorer, right click on drive in left panel, select tools and the "check disk for errors" tool.)
It ran for several hours, but at 11% through stage 4 of 5, verifying file data, it stopped and went no further. So apparently at least one of the files couldn't be verified.  Without going into detail, I was able to copy the files I needed to another drive (robocopy), swap drive letters around using diskpart and get back into operation.
So, apparently LR needs some additional error handling related to file handles.  Somewhere in the initial load of a catalog a file read failed and the LR code doesn't have a handler for that kind of error.  What should happen, in my opinion, is that the LR error handling should have displayed a message that indicated an unexpected hardware fault, most likely disk related and recommended I run CHKDSK on the drive where the catalog is located.

  • Trying to get 32-bit Vista to see more than 2.5 gb of my 4gb ram - T500

    Hello all,
I've been reading what I'm able to find on the subject, and have tried the following suggestions from (http://www.ocmodshop.com/ocmodshop.aspx?a=989) to bump up the amount of physical ram that Vista sees. I've tried to forceenable pae, and then :
    Type BCDedit /set nx AlwaysOff
    Type BCDedit /set pae ForceEnable
Setting DEP off, and neither had any effect on the physical RAM available. I read a few posts hinting that these options may be unecessary in SP1 of vista as well. So, here are my questions :
    1. Is it possible for the T500 with 32-bit Vista to address more than 2.5gb of  physical ram?
    2. If so, how can I do it?
    3. Am I eligible for a 64-bit version of Vista with the recent purchase of my T500 and Vista Business?
Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks much all....

I'll try a few more permutations of the options available, but did you do anything else?
Keep rebooting.  At some point your system will recognize the additional ram.
My system did the same thing as yours.  At first it showed an additional 54mb or so.
Then all of sudden it was up to 3,065mb.  I can't remember how many reboots before
the big jump occurred.  I am guessing 3 to 4 more reboots over a day or two.
I don't know why it takes several reboots before the system will recognized the additional ram.

I am wondering if I can order a 64 bit Windows 7 from lenovo, it seems ok if I go through the Lenovo online ordering system, but I am not sure what will happen to my order in the end, has anyone tried this?

    Just order a 64bit Upgrade.
You will need to do a clean instal.

  • T400 came with 32 bit Vista but want to upgrade to 64 bit Vista...

    Hi All,
Just received my T400 not too long ago.  It came with Vista Home Premium 32-bit preinstall.  A 64-bit Vista Home Premium was not offered.  My T400 was ordered with 4 GB of RAMs.
I have already created a set of 32-bit Vista Home Premium restore discs.  I was wondering whether I can request a set of 64-bit Vista Home Premium restore discs from Lenovo.  I wanted the 64-bit version of Roxio Creator Business Edition that should be bundled with the 64-bit version OS.
Thanks in advance for those who offered help.

The product key for your T400 will work for both 32-bit and 64-bit of the Windows Vista version that was preinstalled on your ThinkPad. You can install and legally activate Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit using that product key.

  • No 64-bit vista support...? Starting to question my relationship with Apple

Apple still isn't fully supporting 64-bit vista, and there is no word as to if or when they will do so. Every time I open itunes I have to tolerate the "not correct installed" message and the inability to burn CDs.
I've spent thousands of dollars on ipods, music, and videos. I did so expecting that apple would support me as a customer. It has been months since vista was released, and at this point apple is just being negligent in their lack of support. This is a main-stream windows operating system here. It is entirely reasonable to expect support for it.
I'm starting to reconsider my relationship with Apple. I certainly won't be expanding my library any time soon. Not when they have the ability to hold me hostage by limiting their support. I'm tempted to cut and run. I'll take a big loss on my library, but there may be no other choice.
People have posted links to some 3rd party driver you can install to work around the problem... but I'm not looking for a work-around. I'm looking for reasonable support from a company which has taken a good deal of my cash.
Apple, please do the right thing and resolve this issue.

    http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
these aren't 3rd party drivers that act as a workaround. these are necessary drivers to your computer that, for some reason, are absent from vista 64. because every other computer running vista 32 or xp has these drivers. i originally had 32 bit vista and had no issues with itunes. it was only until i got the 64bit version that i had any problems. but seriously, this is probably the only way you'll get around that issue. i don't see apple caring when they're spending all they're resources on releasing new ipods and iphones that have their own sets of problems.
