Quality of imported LiveType .movs

Why is imported LiveType low quality when I input into FCE, when it is fine before importing and opening it in quicktime. It goes really grainy once it is placed into my sequence? Have I got the settings wrong. I chose the Apple Int. Codec and  HDV1080i, which is the same FCE is set to. Also, I noticed that the imported livetype is 4:3, how do I make it 16:9? Thanks

Ok, I think I just fixed it, I just changed the export setting from the Apple codec to H.264 and that seemed to work

  • FCP importing LiveType movie at incorrect frame rate

    Hi all...working at a client, using OS10.4.8, FCP 4.5, PowerPC dual 2.5...
My problem...I'm exporting a movie from LiveType...a simple moving background. I know nothing about LiveType, all I'm doing is selecting "Export Movie" and selecting a video only DV/DVCPRO NTSC 720x480 29.97 export, and exporting.
The movie appears to export fine. When I open it up in Quicktime player and check the properties, sure enough, it's a DV movie 720x480 running at 29.97.
When I import it into FCP, however, FCP insists that it is a DV NTSC movie - running at 25 fps.
Ya know, is there some sort of little chromium switch I forgot to throw before importing? Is this a toss prefs and re-import problem? Or should I just go into the hotel-motel mismanagement business?

No. Like I said, I'm a LiveType ignoramus.
I'll be back there next Wednesday, and I will attempt this.

  • Quality of imported movies is very poor: SWITCHER FROM PC TO MAC NEEDS HELP

I find the quality of the video images imported from my JVC gz-mg575e to be very poor. If I play my movies directly of camera on TV I have a crystal clear image. After importing the movie in IMovie 08 the quality gets worse.
I already selected the ultrafine mode for the camera.
Is there something wrong with my setting of iMovie?
Or is it because I use iMovie08 instead of Final Cut Pro?

This is a PAL camcorder I think. Are you are selecting PAL as your setting when you import into iMovie?

  • How to import 150 .mov (quicktime) clips into iMovie '11?

    Hello,
Newbie to iMovie and having some trouble.  My wedding videographer took off with my wedding footage (and the footage of 100 other couples.)  Through the police and some of my own detective work, I was able to seize my wedding footage and have it on an external hard drive.  I have already spent thousands of dollars trying to recoup my footage and now that I finally have it, I don't have the extra money to have it made into an actual movie/dvd.
All of the more than 150 clips are in .mov format and I am unable to import them into iMovie that way.  Any ideas on how to convert that many HD clips into a file that iMovie will recognize without losing video quality & sound?
    For tech info:
    iMac 10.8.3
    iMovie '11
    Clip Info:
    Dimensions: 1920x1080
    Codecs: H.264, Linear PCM
    Color Profile: 1-1-6
    Audio Channels: 2
Thanks for your help!  This community is a great amazing resource and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to offer suggestions.
    Katie

I did it!  I realized after 2 hours of it not working, that I was doing it 1 step wrong.  I was trying to import the actual file with all the clips, rather than just the clips themselves...  Silly error, and the import of .mov files into iMovie was seemelss..  Quality is great and didn't take long.  Thanks again.

  • HELP! How to import .mpg movies from a photocamera?

I'm trying to import mpg movies in Imovie, but it doesn't accept this format. I also tried to convert it to a mp4 file, but they are low res and I need high res (tv use).
    Please help me out!
    Thanks!!!

I'm trying to import mpg movies in Imovie, but it doesn't accept this format. I also tried to convert it to a mp4 file, but they are low res and I need high res (tv use).
MPEG Streamclip (free) will convert MPG (multiplexed MPEG-1) files. As to resolution, you can re-scale the files during the conversion process but it merely increases the conversion time without improving quality. iMovie "08 automatically re-scales project files for display/export.

  • How do I maintain quality when "importing an export"

Sounds like a weird question, but hear me out. I need to know if there is a specific way to maintain the quality level of a movie that I need to export, import into a new project and "re-export".
Reason being that apparently iMovie '09 is broken and produces all sorts of random audio mistakes when I export. So I need to export my project as a whole clip, import it to a new project, take out all the audio and put in the audio from scratch (having it completely detached from the clip).
I'll be exporting in 720 with the best possible quality because this is getting blown up onto projector screens.

Ive seen this before. I have no idea why its happening.
OK. Here is what I want you to do:
go to imovie: export quicktime...go to options....go to settings....go to compression type: Choose apple intermediate codec. Chose other in the compressor box. chose the right frame rate...if you are in the americas choose 29.97.
Go into the size...pick the right aspect ratio for your clips...you haven't said. Don't click anything else in that box.
Under sound settings: AAC, stereo, 48, quality best, target bit rate...i dunno know...i use 320, but 128 probably works also.
Save and it will export movie.....Watch the movie to see how it plays. If the it comes out OK. I POST BACK WITH NEXT STEPS-- because you don't have QT pro...if its ok....please tell me how big it is...

  • Problem with importing a movie made in Keynote

    Hello
I need to import a movie of a slideshow that I made with keynote into iMovie, but when I do so the slideshow movie from keynote is clipped/cropped by the screen in iMovie. How do I fix this?

    Burning Keynote presentations in iDVD
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2936
Contributor Old Toad has added the following excellent advice:
To get the keynote presentation into an iDVD slideshow that you can advance slide by slide with a DVD player remove you need to convert each Keynote slide to a jpg file.  To to this go to the view all slide window, select all of the slides and type Command+P to start a print job.
While in the print window click on the PDF button at the bottom and select "Save PDF to iPhoto" from the drop down menu.  That will create a 200 dpi jpg file of each slide of the presentation.
Next add those slides to a slideshow in iDVD and select slide duration to Manual.  Now the finished DVD is played the DVD player remote will control the advance of the slide.
I suggest you follow this workflow to create the DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
As far as having no menu you must have a menu to fall back into once the presentation has finished.  If you want just a black screen use one of the old themes like Brushed Metal, Burlap, Sage or Graphite and put a blank, black image file in as the background.  You will have to have a button or text button in the menu so choose text and set the text to black if you want a fully blank menu.  Be sure to set the highlight color for the text button to black also.
Finally follow Klaus1's method of dragging the slideshow into the autoplay bin while in the Map mode so the slideshow will start automatically when the disk is inserted into the player.

  • Converting LiveType movie to Flash?

Is there anybody that knows of a way to convert a LiveType movie (i.e. Quicktime movie) to Flash format for webpages? I have already tried to put a web banner I created in LiveType into my company's webpage, but it loaded very slowly on a high-speed internet connection (T1, to be specific).
I was noticing that parts of the Apple website have Flash animations (ex: in the Final Cut Studio area), and was wondering if any of those animations were created with Apple's own software (like Motion) or by a third party....
If anyone can help answer this question, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

Sounds like your FLV's are not being encoded with the proper bite rate. I have no quality problems with FLV's (I've been doing them for clients for a few years). As far as comparing FLV's to a swf stream, if you're talking vector animation, then you're basing the wrong comparison.
Frankly, I wouldn't rely on something like LiveType to create an animated GIF, that's what Photoshop/Imageready and Fireworks are for, and they will work very well with LiveType and are darn good at what they do.

  • One thing I found when importing my movies!

I think I'm getting the best quality (but I'm new at this, I'm still working out the details)
One thing I found was I imported my movies from my video recorder that only has RCA output plus its old I don't think the heads are that clean or playing very well. Then I imported with a video recorder that has a S-Video connection & not only was the video better quality but the file was conciderably smaller.
    Feel free to confirm this.

The movies do not download onto apple TV it shows them as purchased and you need to stream them down. If you want to show your purchased music on Apple TV you need to sign up for iTunes Match.
There seem to be a few glitches with iTunes Match so i just use the computer icon to listen to music on my computer through Apple TV. If you have your Movies and TV shows on your computer this is where you will find them.
The Movies and TV Shows buttons on the main page of Apple TV show you films and tv shows you have purcahsed or cen rent or purchase.
You can also sync your Photos over as well. Method is slightly different in that in iTunes on the computer
File > HomeSharing > Choose photos to share with Apple TV

  • Import 8mm movies directly into Elements 12

Curious to know if it is possible to directly import 8mm movies via a camcorder, through a Canopus ADVC110 analog to digital converter device, directly into Premiere Elements 12?  If so, how would that be accomplished, and what are the settings necessary for optimal quality?

Yes you can but I recommend (and always use myself) WinDV or Exsate DV Capture Live. There are no settings in PRE that affect the quality of DV import as it (and the other two tools I've mentioned) capture the complete raw video stream from the digitizer. It is the settings on the digitizer that can affect the quality of that stream and, frankly, I find the Canopus manuals so unhelpful and poorly written that I've always just gone with the defaults.

  • LiveType Movie not showing up in iMovie

I created a LiveType 9 second introduction then imported the .mov file into iMovie (all looked good on preview), but when I play it back. It does not display the LiveType movie. I went back several times, re-rendered with background, etc. Any clues????

    Any solution?

  • Importing Home Movies already on Disc

I have alot of home movies I have previously burned to disc using a DVR. Is there a way to import those movies to my iMac to use on projects?

sure you can, but you will loose pic quality, because a DVD has a delivery format, not meant for further processing..

  • Importing LiveType Problems

The DVD Tutorial makes importing LiveType projects look easy but I'm having trouble with my first project.
When I import, it does so without the background I've been using. Then, when I try and insert it into the timeline it gives me a pop up that says "Insufficient content", or some such.
Wondering if this is because my LiveType content is on a separate hard drive than my main one. Otherwise, I have no idea why this is not working.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the family.
When I import, it does so without the background I've been using. <</div>
You must tell LT to include the background. It's a project preference or project setting. If your background is below the separator, you must tell LT to include it. It's easier if you render out your background as a separate movie (or a separate project) and bring it into FCP on its own. That way you have independent control over the timing and positioning.
Then, when I try and insert it into the timeline it gives me a pop up that says "Insufficient content", or some such.< </div>
That's usually only if you're trying to put between two clips or trying to replace a clip with your .ipr clip. Try just placing it manually on an open trakc. Should work.

Nope, that should not affect LT's import or placement in FCP.

  • After I import a movie file from the camera memory card, Imovie 10.0.1 acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it worksnow?  Thank you, Filippo

On IMac 10.9  After I import a movie file from the camera memory card to Imovie 10.0.1 it acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it works now?  Anyone know?  Thanks, Filippo

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.
    Thanks

  • IMovie 08 hangs while trying to import iPhoto movies at the start.

    Hi guys,
When I open Imovie 08, it asks me to import iphoto movies. Then it stays there for ages and never ends importing those movies. I know I can just skip this process but I want to edit those videos from iPhoto.
I guess is some corrupted file it is trying to import what is causing this incident but I have no idea how to tell which is the "bad" file since iMovie doesn't give any information about it.
    Any clues?
    Thanks in advence

    Hi,
I wouldn't say I have such a lot of movies in Iphoto but deffintely they are quite a few... anyway, I suspect it will never end because the timer gets bigger and bigger; and yes I left it running overnight with no luck.
Is there any way to see in which video is iMovie having the problem? The other workarround means having to backup and delete videos randomly until I find "the bad one".
    Cheers.
