  • Error on accessing SAP BW query with Crystal Reports 2008: Kein Fehler

    Hi,
I want to create a Crystal 2008 report with SAP BW data.
The query is set to allow external access and using the BW toolbar in Crystal, I can connect to the SAP BW system and select the query. But then the following message appears:
Fehler bei der Erstellung einer neuen Berichtsvorlage.
    Kein Fehler.
COM exception caught in CExtToolBar::InitializeGlobalData(). HR = 0x0388bb27
The message is always in German, no matter if I'm logged on in English.
What's wrong? Do I have to install something else? Is something missing?
    Thanks and best regards,

    HI Experts,
I have connected MDX Query with Crystal Reports 2008. In my MDX Query, I took G/L Account as an Info-object Hierarchy in which there are more than 10 nodes and each nodes having G/L accounts range. • Two problmes between  Crystal Reports 2008 and Bex Query

    Hi Gurus.
I have two problems with Crystal Reports 2008 when It obtains data from a Bex Query (SAP MDX query connection).
    1)     I have defined some Parameters Fields using the follow options:
    Type: String
    List of Values: Dynamic
    Value Options Level1:
                         Show on (Viewer) Panel :Editable
                          Prompt text: <text>
                          Sort Order: Ascending by value
Prompt With description Only : False
                          Optional Prompt: True
                          Allow multiple values: True
                          Allow discrete values: True
                          Allow range values: False
When I execute the report with the client of Crystal Reports 2008 (the developer tool), in the initial screen shows a list box where I can select the values from the left box and add it to the left box (as a usually filter). When the number of options (LOV) is more than  the maximum of the system, I have a input box bellow the list box, where I can insert any value (manually) and a button to insert it into the left box. When I publish the Report in the infoview, this filter is modified and the input box where I can introduce manually values is not showed and I can insert only the values showed in the list box, it causes that I can`t select a lot of values that is in the master data of SAP BW, because they arenu2019t listed in the list box.
There is any option to ability this option in the infoview.
    2)     My Bex query, have a date filter with variable in the restricted key figures, when I execute a Crystal Reports, the infoview (and the Crystal Reports 2008 designer) ask me 2 times the same date, first only the date and second the date and the rest of parameters (introduced in the report of Crystal Reports).
Why I need insert the date 2 times? How can I modify the Crystal Report for ask me only one time all the parameters?.
    Thanks.

    Hi Abhilash.
    Thank you for your information.
    1) Yes, the parameters are created in the Crystal Reports designer. I have created the parameters in the Crystal Report because I use the same Bex Query to create some Crystal Report, in other case, I will need create some Bex Query.
2)The Bex query has the date filters and I have created some filters in Crystal Reports designer, the date filter from the Bex query is created automatically in the Crystal Report Designer but I don't use it, I haven't created it anytime. I use my filters only in the record selection. The date filters from the Bex query is showed as Static, and I can`t delete it, if I modify the parameter to dynamic or static with values, at first step ask me again static without values and the second step of the report execution ask me the parameter as I have defined in Crystal Reports Designer, my parameters fields are dynamic. A lot of reports have subreport, but I have created one of them without subreport (to trial) and the Crystal Reports ask me the date filters at first execution, and when I insert the date filters, in the second step, ask me the date filters again and my parameters fields again.
    Thank you again.

  • Need to adjust SQL query for left outer join in Crystal Reports 2008.

I need to change this SQL 2005 query.....
    SELECT     omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.member_id, omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.[Device Name],
                          omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.Account, omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.PROPERTY_NAME,
                          omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.latest_monitor_value
    FROM         omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable LEFT OUTER JOIN
                          omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics ON omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.member_id = omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.member_id
    WHERE
        omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.PROPERTY_NAME = ?MyProperty
To this query in Crystal Reports Report Writer:
    SELECT     omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.member_id, omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.[Device Name],
                          omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.Account, omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.PROPERTY_NAME,
                          omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.latest_monitor_value
    FROM         omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable LEFT OUTER JOIN
                          omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics ON omnicell_anl.DeviceIDsLastMetricTable.member_id = omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.member_id AND
                          omnicell_anl.labeledLastMetrics.PROPERTY_NAME = ?MyProperty
I can't seem to get the left outer join function of Crystal Reports to emulate the same SQL query in SQL 2005.  Any ideas on how I can create this same query in Crystal 2008?
    Thanks,
    Dominic

If you want the list of values for command level parameter then you need to add another command like
    select PropertyField from table
and delete the links between this command and the existing command.
Now go to field explorer and edit the command level parameter and make it as dynamic and add the property field from newly added command.
    Hope this helps!

  • SAP Crystal Report (2008) through SQL Query parameters

    Hi,
I Created a report in Crystal report (2008) based on Sql Query. I created parameters in SQL query prompt only (all single valued).
Based on this I need to show the data in detail section.
For Graph, I used another SQL query, and added one subreport to the Main report header section. Since this subreport is also using the SQL query prompts for taking parameters.
Since both the reports are using same set of parameters. I mapped Main report parameters to sub-report parameters.
    So Now structure is like,
In a report there is one subreport.
Main report ....SQL query generates parameter prompt..same parameters is passed to subreport.
In subreport there are sql generated prompts. and we mapped that prompts to main report parameter prompts.
Now it is running fine from crystal report, but not from CMC. It is not showing the graph.
    Made Two Experiment:
    1. To check subreport is running or not , Mannualy put my name in sub report--working fine.(CMC)
    2. To check the parameters are correctly mapped--printed the value in subreport--Showing all the parameters value from CMC
but it is not running the SQL query of that sub report.
Any suggestion ?? Or is there anyoption to check?? Or a CMC setting.
    Please suggest and respond..
    Thank you in advance.!!

    Hi Rajeev,
This is Crystal reports development community, you said the report is working fine in Crystal. it is problem in CMC. So the issue is at BI Server.
So i think you need to create the thread in the below community.

  • Report and Field Explorer dont work in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi
I am using the following versions of Crystal Reports:
Crystal Reports 2008  (Service Pack 1)
    CR Developer
    Version 12.1.0.892
    Product Type: Full
Target environment: .NET 3.5 windows forms and asp.net application
Since a couple of days, i can no longer access the field explorer nor the report exlorer. Anything else seems to be working fine. I first thought these windows were somewhere hidden behind another window but as much as i searched, i didnt succed in finding them :-(.  Our product has a valid licence and is registered, by the way.
My question is now, what do i have to do to get my field/report explorer again. Maybe, installing the latest service pack had an influence, but i cannot tell for sure.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks in advance

  • Crystal Report 2008 results "Password did not match error" in SQL Server Log

    Hi,
I am trying to develop some crystal reports using Crystal Report 2008 SP4 to connect to SQL server 2008 through RDO (ODBC). My problem is that anytime Crystal Report is trying to establish a connection with SQL Server, first it tries to connect with the wrong password and results the following error message in SQL Server log:
Login failed for user 'peyman'. Reason: Password did not match that for the login provided. [CLIENT: 192.168.2.198]
The login name 'peyman' is the right one as I have quoted the same in setting up ODBC System DSN using "SQL Server Native Client 10". But somehow Crystal Report is taking its chance and trying to connect before prompting me for the password. After this error logged to SQL server side, I can see Crystal Report pops up the prompt to enter DSN password. After supplying password to this prompt, Crystal Report works fine and pulls the data and renders the report without having any more incorrect password error logged to SQL Server.
The attached file shows the step I am taking to regenerate the issue. I need this to be fixed as anytime uses any of these reports and tries to render it with crystal runtime engine the same error message raises in SQL Server side and logged in the log file.
    Thanks,

    Hi Peyman,
This is the way it should work, In CR designer when you open the report it does nothing. As soon as you hit the Refresh button then CR tries to use the connection saved with the report. It assumes what is saved with the report is a valid server and connection info. CR simply tries to verify the server is still active.
If you don't want it to fail in CRD then before opening any report Click the File, Log on Database option and connect. Now when refreshing reports it won't log the failed.
In the SDK it does the same thing, it assumes the Server info is the same and does try to connect to verify the Server does exist. It only takes a few milli-seconds to do this
To stop this from happening set the log on info first then it won't log the attempt to connect, it's checking to see if Trusted is allowed.

Notice it doesn't try to connect first if I set the log on info first using code.
So nothing we can do to stop SQL server from logging this info. Check with the DBA, possibly they can "filter" out the application attempts to connect or change your work flow in the app.
If you have a Preview Button to view the report then simply add your Database log on info prompt there if Connectioninfo.Trusted is not true:
    mainSecureDB = rpt.Database.Tables[tableIndex].LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity;
if mainSecureDB = false then prompt the user for log on info and set accordingly, if it is true the it should not fail when it connects.
This is simply a matter of changing your App work flow...
    Thanks

  • SAP Integration Kits 3.0 with Crystal Report 2008

    Hi,
I have installed Intergration Kits 3.0 and Crystal Report 2008.
I open the Crystal Report Designer from Start >Programs >Crystal Reports 2008 > Crystal Reports 2008.
As mentioned by Ingo, I have ticked the MDX driver setting via SAP menu option.
I clicked on u201CCreate New report from queryu201D
Selected the fields from the Query and placed in the report.
When I click on Preview button, I hits the following:
Database Connector Error: u2018Function module u201C/CRYSTAL/MDX_GET_STREAM_INFOu201D not found.u2019
Another problem that I encountered is when I can only enter UPPERCASE for my SAP BW User ID and Password in Crystal Report (when I try to logon into SAP BW in Crystal by clicking on the u201CCreate New report from queryu201D). So I need to change my password to Uppercase in BW.
Have you encountered this before? I guess it is related to installation problem? Should I uninstall and reinstall again?
    Please advise, thank you.

    Hi,
So I just need to send the neccessary files mentioned in transports_EN.txt to my basis guys with your instruction. Then I should be able to use the MDX driver in crystal reports already?
    Correct!
the SAP BusinessObjects documentation (and Ingo) mentions that the transports have to be imported. HOW to do this is an SAP Basis administration related issue and is NOT described in the BusinessObjects documentation.
As far as I know the appropriate files (there is a dependency related to the version and the type (BW or R/3) of your SAP backend system) described in  transports_EN.txt) have to be copied in the directory which is set to be the tranport queue for your SAP system and then the admin can use the STMS transaction to import them.
NOTE: In a BW system you have to import BOTH the SAP Basis transports AND the SAP BW related transports. That means you have to import in total 9 transports = 18 files

    Stratos

    Hi there,
My company is in the middle of SAP implementation and our go-live is in 2 months. We don't have a BW system in place and are (for the most part) using the Standard SAP Reports available out of the box to facilitate the requirements of the different business users. But as we all know, there are always some reports that require customization. So, for that we decided to use Crystal Report 2008 (ver. 12.3.0.601) to design custom reports while accessing data from the Standard SAP Tables. I am able to access the Standard SAP Tables in R/3 (built on Oracle database) and the fields in those tables from the Crystal Report 2008 Database Expert option and have created an A/R Aging Report successfully. However, while working on my second report (GL Journal Entry By Invoice#) I am struggling to maintain and improve the query execution time since I am accessing data from huge standard FI-CO tables (BSEG, BSID, BSAD). Our 3rd party implementation team has already designed a custom report in R/3 that is available in all the clients using the T-Code in NetWeaver for the end users but it's missing some fields that the end users would need for go-live and it's not possible to ask the 3rd party implementation team to make the needed changes to the already customized report (for whatever reasons). And, that's why, I am asked to customize this report in Crystal. I suspect the execution time is so bad in Crystal because of lack of filtering of the data when I am pointing at the huge Standard Tables. I would have added some SQL clause and filters to bring in only the required fields from the table into the Crystal environment but I don't have that option since the R/3 system is sitting on Oracle. I have couple questions:
    1) Would it be advantageous to build the custom Crystal Report on top the custom R/3 report that is already in place since in the R/3 report I can create a default variant with the conditions I want and it gets executed every time I call it in Crystal giving me only the data I am interested in? And, is it even possible?
    2)  Why am I not able to see the R/3 custom report from the Database Expert option even though the report is accessible from NetWeaver? I am able to access all the Standard SAP Tables from Database Expert in Crystal 2008.
And I forgot to add, we don't have an ABAP expert in house to create ABAP function modules that might help me filter the data in the R/3 system.
Is there any suggestions that will get the job done? Am I doing anything wrong here?
Sorry for the long story but I wanted to give you guys a full background of the issue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No - this is not possible; you can only report in Crystal against ECC tables, ABAP functions, and SAP Query/Infosets

ABAP Reports are not a datasource in Crystal

    Hello,
Those are some big tables to be reporting against in Crystal
Have you considered creating an InfoSet using logical database BRM (Financial Documents) that could then be used to report against Crystal?
We do use Crystal / SAP Query against the logical database BRM as an InfoSet and so far we haven't seen the performance issues you are describing.
Also, have you considered upgrading to Crystal Reports 2011?  Not sure that it would help the performance issues you are describing.

    Tammy

  • Cannot Edit Universe Query in Crystal Reports.

    Hi,
We have Crystal Reports 2008 SP5 installed on a Terminal Server where our report developers can go to develop reports. We have a 4 node BOXI R2 SP4 cluster on the opposite side of a firewall, and have opened the firewall ports so that Crystal Reports can connect to this BOXI cluster and a universe on that cluster, and the developers can publish their reports.
For some developers, and the issue is intermittent for them, if they open one of those Crystal Reports to edit the universe query, they go into Database Expert and right click and choose Edit query, nothing happens. The Query Editor window does not open. They don't get any errors, other than the Universe Query editor window refuses to open. No errors on the BOXI server side either.
They can work for a few days and everything works fine, when suddenly this behavior starts. When they report the issue to me and I try it myself, it works fine. I've checked their access rights repeatedly and have even given a user temporary full admin rights to rule out any rights issues, but they stll get this behavior.Just as strange, the problem suddenly will disappear. Often, they will send me an message several hours or days later stating that everything is OK again and they can edit their universe queries in the same reports that refused to work earlier.
I've also checked the BOXI cluster nodes to see if possibly one of the services had a missing -requestport setting, and was choosing a random port that the firewall could be blocking, but everything looks fine. If I login to the BOXI cluster servers and try one of the reports, I can edit the query just fine.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.

I had the same issue and it was because the Universe is having Oracle as Database and I dont have any Oracle drivers installed on my machine. Once i have installed Oracle drivers i was able to view/edit the query panel.
    Hope this would help you.

  • Problem with keydecoder.dll in Crystal Reports 2008 Trial Version

    Hello,
My company is interested in purchasing Crystal Reports 2008 and has asked me to download and try the trial version.  However, I have been running into a keydecoder.dll problem.  Setup was smooth and here are the details:
    Problem message:
"Crystal Reports: Application Error Couldn't load keydecoder.dll"
I have Windows Vista and I have already configured all permissions and administrative rights to the problem to full control.  I have also attempted to drag the keydecoder.dll application extension out of win32_x86 to the file folder crystal reports 2008.  I have also already attempted to reinstall and making a new program file location named 'Crystal Reports 2008'.
I'm running out of ideas and would appreciate some help.  Thank you
