Query on iphone 5 service in India

Hi All,
I am planning to buy unlocked version of iphone 5 from US through authorized store and will be using the same in India. However, since Apple talks about providing the 1 year warranty, would like to know if anything happens to my iphone, will apple be able to service it in India through authorized apple store?

Warranty is NOT International.
Warranty is limited to the country of origin.
If you purchase an iPhone in the US, it will only be serviced and the warranty will only be valid in the US.
Save yourself the hassle buy the device in the country that you intend to use it.

The warranty says that Apple may restrict service of an iPhone to the country of sale, and any reliable salesperson will tell you that if you tell them that you plan to use the iPhone in another country. Such service restrictions are common with cellphones and are by no means limited to Apple's phones.
Sorry, but if your iPhone requires service, you will need to send it to someone you know in the US who can get it serviced and then send it back to you.

You can't. The warranty on the iPhone has NEVER been international. You will need to bring the phone to Thailand (or send it to someone you know there to bring it to Apple) for servicing.

How to get iphone purchased from USA serviced in india?

i purchased an iphone 4s from usa (factory unlocked) and brought it to india. Recently i upgraded to ios6 and since then my phone is facing problems. My battery lasts only for about 4 hours and my usage is not at all extensive. Any application i use quits unexpectedly. Both these problems have come up only after the upgrade. Apple is suggesting i ship my phone to usa. But i want to know if there's any way i can get it serviced in india. i have already tried restoring my phone and it does not help. pls suggest a solution.

Buy from a legitimate source. Get it directly from a supported carrier. NOT from a shop on the corner.

Purchased an iPhone in USA while on Vacation. The phone would not start. The APPLE customer service in India would not provide the desired service. They advised me to send this phone to the country of Purchase for which I have no option. Please advise if there is any other way out or I cremate the phone for good?
Surprisingly the apple site when the serial number is keyed in says that the service is available in India as well. But sadly the personnel on the phone says that the information is incorrect and that Apple has not dispalyed the correct information on the site. Please advise what to do.

There is no catch. Apple offers international warranty on some products i.e. iMac, MacBook Pro etc but excludes the iPhone. This question has been asked and answered numerous times on these forums and if you do a search you will find the advice is consistent in that there is no international warranty on the iPhone.

I'm at an odd case here, and talkign to the AppleCare CSRs in both North America and here in Germany (ended up talking to someone in Hungary and someone in India on the phone...) they weren't all that sure how to help me.
Purchased my iPhone4 with AT&T about 8.5mth ago (so still under Apple Limited Warrenty) but my phone is officially dead:

No response to hard boot, recovery mode, DFU mode, plugging into iTunes or plugging into AC power.
AppleCare suggested a replacement, but two problems:
First: They were unsure that if I was able to bring it into an AppleStore in Germany (none of which are remotely close to me...) if the would replace it and
Second: If they did replace it, I was told it would then 'be locked to German providers'
Question 1: Has anyone had luck getting their iPhones serviced away from their purchasing country?
Question 2: I'm confused about the 'locked to German providers' comment... iPhones sold in AppleStores in Germany are sold unlocked... Would they lock mine to a provider on purpose? Or is the unlocking not handled by the AppleStore... I'm not too familiar with the process because it's impossible in the US. Honestly I dont care about unlocked or not right now... I just want to be able to use it!

If you purhcased the iphone in U.S and is roaming in Germany. You will have to take it back to U.S and get it replaced from there. Warranty is only valid where it was purchased. If you have a friend or relative in U.S, send the phone to them, have them take it to the apple store and replace the phone and send it back. How are you managing to roam internationally? Surely it's not cheap.

Unlocked iphone 4 from India does not accept Tmobile SIM in the US

Hello everyone
I have an unlocked iphone 4 which I bought in India. Here's the situation, I first came to the US in August of 2012 with an unlocked iphone 4 which was working on an airtel SIM card. Once I obtained a T mobile SIM card, I placed it in my phone and it all went fine. I used a T mobile card with my phone till I departed the US in March of this year. In India I re-used my airtel SIM card. However, my phone screen had cracked and I got my old iphone4 replaced with a new one at an authorised service centre in Bangalore, India. Now, I am back in the US and when I tried my old T mobile SIM card, I get an invalid SIM message. I figured that my old T mobile card might have been deactivated since I have been out of the country for a long period. So I went over to the T mobile office and got myself a new SIM. No luck with that either. Still an invalid SIM. My airtel SIM is still read if I use that here.
What do I need to do to get my iphone to start working with my T mobile SIM again?

Almost all phones in India are sold unlocked. Carriers are almost never involved in the sale of phones. My original iPhone 4 came in a plain apple box with no association with any carrier. I then used my Airtel SIM card with it. I guess I will just have to buy a new phone and sell my iPhone back in India. I was getting tired of its eccentricities anyway. Thanks for the help everyone.

If it's an unlocked phone, yes, you can use any compatible GSM carrier.
The two supported GSM carriers in the US are AT&T and T-Mobile.
You can look at their web sites for information on available plans and rates.

IPhone 3g Vodafone India users experience?

I am in India and am planning to buy the iPhone 3g through Vodafone. I wanted to know what the experience of users have been in India (Bangalore) in terms of service, reception and issues. This forum is pretty helpful in getting all the information in terms of drawbacks, issues etc as far as the phone is concerned, but atleast in countries like US you have the Genius bar etc where you can go with your issues. Whats the service like in India. It would be great if any user using it gives the feedback with the actual problems faced rather than generic statements (No offence meant). Its around 30,000 INR so need to check on that. I know of all the drawbacks, so no need mentioning that, just the user experience in India.

Sorry folks, I was not aware of caps issue. again I am posting my problem.
I purchased the iphone from vodafone india (serail no. 84831yj7y7h). My iphone is giving me problem since the time I purchased it. It’s ringer gets off on its own and sometime network fails and it hangs. Home button responds very late. Earlier the problem was not so frequent but since last year and a half the frequency of this problem increased. I have become a laughing stock with my friends and family.
Every possible solution was tried by vodafone but of no help. As earlier Apple had arrangement with Vodafone for service in india.
Now, as Apple have started giving service to iphone in India, I approached Apple they asked me to pay Rs10,700/- for replacement of a defective piece, which is exorbitant because apple has launched iphone 3G in india for Rs19000/-. I would have agreed to pay the amount if they were to replace with iphone 4.
I am a patron of apple owning macbook, ipad2, ipod.
I feel cheated first being delivered with a defected piece,then being asked for such exorbitant amount for replacement.
I have called the customer care and vodafone but no one hasany answer. I have lost hope. Now i have no choice but to sell it insecond hand market and by some other brand handset.
No one listening what to do.

When you went back to the place where you purchased this phone, & asked them, what did they say?

If officially unlocked, you can purchase a sim from one of the two nationwide GSM carriers, AT&T or T-Mobile. However, AFAIK, none of the carriers in India offer unlocking for the iPhone. Thus, if your phone is carrier locked, the only way it will work in the US is roaming...that would cost a fortune.
So, if you have a carrier locked iPhone, leave it home or sell it before you come to the US, then purchase an officially unlocked iPhone, from Apple, when you get to the US. You'll be able to use that phone in India when you go back.
