Question about fan control MSI MPower

Hi, Cosimo from Italy, sorry for my bad english.
I have a question about fan control with the MSI MPower.
The MPower site says: All 4-pin PWM fan connector Onboard
But the manual says: SYSFAN1-4 pin 4 No Use
My question is: the Control Center Fan Utility support the fan connect SYSFAN1-4 3 Pin voltage controled or 4 Pin pulse width controled or both?
Thanks Cosimo.

The fans will run as per your percentage setting in the BIOS.
I can't find the percentage setting in BIOS...

  • Z87 Gaming Boards - Questions regarding fan control / soundblaster cinema...

    Hello everyone,
    I'm thinking about switching to MSI Z87-G45 Gaming (currently using Asus Gene-Z V), however there are three issues that I've been unable to find information on:
    1) Fan Control
    The new msi boards seem to have new bios fan control which enables you to set a low temperature and corresponding fan speed, aswell as high temperature which marks the temp when the fan will reach 100% speed. However I've read that this is only available for the CPU_FAN1 header and not CASE_FANX or even CPU_FAN2 (if available). Is that true?
    2)Audio Solution
    The middle boards seem to feature Realtek 1150 in combination with the software solution Soundblaster Cinema (Xpower as X-Fi MB3). Now the soundblaster cinema really confuses me, is it better than the X-FI MB2 (thats the software solution of the asus Z77 rog boards)? Does it have the "soundblaster console" in addition to thx true studio pro or is it just the thx utility etc.?
    3) VGA Boost in combination with msi graphics cards
    What exactly does this do? It says that it automatically increases the power target, but is that useful if you also use msi afterburner?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for info, I ordered a G45-Gaming today and let's see how it works out.

    Can you control 3 pin fans with this board?
    BTW first post here :-)
    I can update you on this issue once I get everyone up and running, however generally msi had the following setup:
    CPU_FAN headers -> pwm control (and sometimes voltage too)
    CASE_FAN headers -> voltage control only (= 3 PIN fan)
    The "old" case fan control sucked though since you could only set a range from 60% to 100% on the fans whereas for cpu fans you could set 0 to 100%. Also the minimum temperatur for case fans was 40° which in makes case (case temp never rose above 35°) made case fan control pretty much useless.

  • Equium M50-164: Question about Fan usage & battery timer

    Hi !!
    Just got hold of my equium m50-164 laptop today and I wanted to clarify a few issues
    firstly,
    I flashed my bios with the latest version and upon the reboot the fan kicked in at full power and didn't turn off until i put the laptop into standby mode, this seemed to of rectified the problem but the fan seems to be kicking in a lot more than compared to before, luckily the fan isn't kicking into 100% speed but more like 15% - 20% every 30 secs or a minute then goes into silent mode, the fan hasn't hit 100% unless i do a reboot :),
    I know the fan will speed faster based on the cpu usage etc (thermal) but is this normal? I spoke to support and they wanted me to have an instant replacement but I said I would wait a few days to see if it would calm down :)
    and finally looking at the power meter and other software tools there seems to be no battery calibration, with previous laptops i noticed that numerical calculations are made based on battery usage and time left [i.e a timer] but with this laptop i kind find a timer - i would of thought tha every laptop has this facility nowadays !
    any advice would be helpful
    cheers

    Hi
    Please dont be mad on me but I really dont understood why your first step is BIOS update. The unit is delivered with actual BIOS and it is really not necessary to make it before you notice some problems. I just hope that you have enough experience with it because I have read a few postings on this forum about BIOS damage while BIOS update and to make it good again costs a lot of money.
    Your BIOS is updated and there are new values that should be used by Power saver utility (responsible for cooling fan monitoring). I recommend you to remove preinstalled power saver, restart the unit and install it again. I hope that the result will be better.
    Battery calibration I dont know what you want exactly but the battery usage can be control by power saver tool. On the task bar there is symbol for power saver and if you move the mouse pointer on it the battery capacity and left time will be shown.

  • 3 questions about fan of NX8800GT OC 512mb.

    1. If i use Rivatuner to adjust fan speed to, say, 40% direct control, will it stay fixed at 40% and not adjust to
        higher temps?
    2. Is the default 29% auto speed fixed? or does it adjust to higher temps?
    3. Which do you recommend?
    Thanks!

    Ken,
    My iBook's fan has come on maybe six times in the 2+ years I've had it.
    I wouldn't worry about it. If the iBook overheats, it will shut down. This is not good, but it will let you know that the fan isn't working and it keeps the iBook from burning up.
    If you see the iBook slowing down a lot or acting strange, it could be a sign of heat buildup and you can shut it down to avoid it automatically doing it.
    Of course, it's always best to use it on a hard surface rather than a soft one (like your lap or a pillow or sofa). The rubber feet on the bottom of the iBook are there to hold the iBook just far enough up to allow for heat dispersion. If you use it on a soft surface, that feature is negated. An acrylic cutting board makes a good, cheap laptop surface if you want to use it on your lap.
    If you do see a spontaneous shutdown, there is a chance of hard drive damage and you should repair the hard drive, either by booting into Safe Mode or starting up from the Mac OS X Install Disk by inserting the disk and restarting your computer, holding down the C key at the end of the startup chime. Then choose Installer>Open Disk Utility and select the disk in the left column. Choose the First Aid tab. Click Repair Disk to test and repair the hard drive. Once you have repaired the hard drive with either Safe Mode or the Install CD's Disk Utility, then start up normally and repair permissions from Disk Utility in the Utilities folder on your hard drive.

  • Questions about remote control and infrared port Qosmio F20

    Hi again,
    My Toshiba Qosmio F20 comes with a remote control funcioning through a infrared device on the front of the computer.
    Regarding this I have 2 questions:
    1. How do I configure additonal functionality through the remote control? (Like launching and controlling Winamp?)
    2. How do I connect other devices, like my cellular phone, pdas etc., to the infrared device on my computer?
    Kind regards,
    Vegard

    Hi,
    the Remote Control delivered with the Qosmio F20 is designed only for Windows XP Media Center Edition (all Remote Control's which are designed for Windows XP Media Center Edition work only with Media Center or Windows Media Player). Other program's like Winamp were not supported by these Remote Control's.
    I believe, the Remote Control's are made by Microsoft and for a wide palette of product's (the Infrared Transceiver is on nearly all Media Center PC's e.g. Siemens-Fujitsu, the same). So it's a little bit tricky to support more program's then Media Center or Windows Media Player.
    For other program's you need a second Remote Control like this one:

  • Question about Grid Control Agents on a Veritas Cluster (or any cluster)

    Hi, I'm seeking advice on how to setup Grid Control agents on a Veritas Cluster.
    My cluster is made up of two Sun M4000 servers running Solaris 10 x64 (node1 and node2), and 8 virtual hosts setup to fail between the nodes. Each of these virtual hosts has several mount points from a SAN, and contain Oracle 9 and 10 homes as well as databases. The versions are 9.2.0.8 and 10.2.0.3.
    I have a full grid control agent install on each node to mount points that don't fail over to the other nodes. These agents monitor the nodes themselves.
    Now for my question, is it better to do full intalls of the grid agent in each virtual host or to use the "emctl deploy agent" from the full installs already on node1 and node2 to the virtual hosts? Or is there some other, better way to do this.
    Either method results in 9 grid control agents on a node if all the virtual hosts are on that box. I've experimented with both agent deploys and installs a bit and found that the cpu usage goes though the roof with that many agents on one server. Maybe I don't have them configured correctly, but every now and then they spike cpu usage to 100%, and these servers have 8, dual core processors in them with 32GB of RAM.
    Thanks for any tips!
    Currently, my setup looks something like this, if it helps:
    ORANODE1...........................................ORANODE2
    user: oracle..........................................user: oracle
    full agent install....................................full agent install
    VirtualHost1
    user: ora_user1
    Oracle 10G Home
    repository database
    OMS install
    full agent install
    VirtualHost2
    user: ora_user2
    Oracle 9i Home
    production database
    full agent install
    VirtualHost3
    user: ora_user3
    Oracle 9i Home
    production database
    full agent install
    VirtualHost4
    user: ora_user4
    Oracle10g Home
    production database
    full agent install
    VirtualHost5
    user: ora_user5
    Oracle10g Home
    production database
    full agent install
    VirtualHost6
    user ora_user6
    Oracle10G Home
    production database
    full agent install
    VirtualHost7
    user: ora_user7
    Oracle10G Home
    production database
    full agent install
    VirtualHost8
    User: ora_user8
    Oracle10G Home
    production database
    full agent install

    Will the agent 10.2.0.3 work with Grid Control 10.2.0.1
    Yes.

  • A question about table control

    Hello Expert,
    I have created a table control with wizard using internal table. I can display the data in the table successfully. Now the new requirement is to add two buttons to sort the data in ascending or descending. But it seems that it's impossible to select the column that the user want to use as sort field.
    Does any expert tell me how i can select the column?
    Thanks & Regards, Johnny

    After doing the steps mentioned by sap fan you have to use below approach for coding.
    Your table control has structure  CXTAB_CONTROL defined in the type group CXTAB in the ABAP Dictionary and
    CXTAB_CONTROL contains a table of the structure CXTAB_COLUMN which has the attributes of a column of table control.
    Lets say you have defined table control as
    CONTROLS tab1 TYPE TABLEVIEW USING SCREEN <scr> then you have can read variable tab1-COLS[ ] into one internal table
    of type CXTAB_COLUMN (lets consider this table as tab2) then check this tab2-SELECTED, if column is selected then
    it will be 'X' else space. Accordingly sort your internal table of table control.

  • VGA FAN CONTROL MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC

    The first fan of my vga (from back panel to front panel of my desktop)runs at ~4440 rpm (40%) on idle state. It’s pretty noisy, in any review that I read before I buy this vga they mention how quite this card is, how powerful and cool. I would like to know if there is a way to slowdown the fan speed on idle state maybe to 30%.I tried to do that with msi afterburner but don’t let me drop it under 40%(the one it has from the geggining).Is there a bios update or tool or something else to allow me to do this? I would like to mention that my case is CoolerMaster CM 690 II Basic  with good airflow and my psu is CoolerMaster Silent Pro M850 RS-850-AMBA-J3 850W Modular PSU.please can anyone help me?? sorry wrong topic i'm new to this...

  • Build question about the MOBO msi x99s sli Plus

    I just started to build a new computer for the first time.  I have two questions (at this point, anyway) which I hope someone can answer.
    1.  When I attached the mobo to my new case (Corsair 760T) with the screws that came with the case, I noticed the middle riser is not like the other preinstalled risers.  It's more like a centering post.  I watched tutorials that said as much, but what I'd like to know is: Does that center post just stay as is?  Because unlike the other 8 risers, there's nothing for a screw to go into for the center post.  The mobo seems to be positioned correctly, but I'd like to know if that center post just stays as is.
    2.  My other question has to do with installing my new Kraken X-61  cooler over the cpu.  In several tutorials I've watched, it was stated to remove the back plate on the mobo behind the cpu and replace it with the plastic backplate that comes with the Kraken X61. cooler.  But when I look at the backplate behind the cpu on the MSI X99S SLI Plus mobo, there isn't any bolts to remove.  I also  noticed that the plastic backplate that came with the Kraken X-61 when adjusted to its widest dimensions, lines up with the socket on the top side of the MOBO where the Kraken X-61 heatsink gets connected with thumb screws iinto the socket on the MOBO.  Can I use the socket that's already on the MOBO?  If no, how do I take off the back plate on the bottom of the MOBO?
    Hopefully you will understand what I am asking.

    Thanks for responding.  I used the wrong term for the backplate in one sentence, calling it a bracket.  I meant plastic backplate.  But no matter, I got it installed.  You gave me a lot of relief, because there is no step-by-step directions with parts from four different manufacturers, so for a first-time builder with practically no technical know-how, it's not easy to know what to do.  Once done, I realized how simple it was, though.  The bracket on the Kraken x61 was already set and attached to the pump.  I just slipped it over the posts I installed for my socket type, and affixed it with the thumb screws.
    Thanks again

  • Question about Delegate Control to Desktop Support

    I am working on delegating control to a newly formed/reclassified position in my company. This role will primarily provide Desktop Support. They will have little to no need to log into servers.
    I have already gave them admin rights to the end users machines, now I just need to grant them the proper rights in ADUC/Exchange so they can properly perform their role.
    Here is what they will need to do:
    User account lifecycle management (Create, change, delete, change password, etc)
    Computer account lifecycle management (Create, change, delete)
    Security & Distribution Group membership management (Create, change, delete)
    Exchange mailbox creation (Exchange Recipient Administrators)
    Run RSOP for GPO
    Basically, I want them to have full control over user, computer and group objects. This way they can create users, change group memberships,  add computers to domain, delete computer objects, etc.
    The problem I am having, I am not sure what rights I need to grant them via the delegate control wizard to accomplish all of that. I know I could just grant them "Full Control" of the OU structure containing all of our user, computer and group
    objects, but would like to avoid that unless its really what I need to do in the end.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    I would not recommend providing Full control over user, computer and group objects. Provide permission based on the tasks that they need to perform. The following articles

  • Question about keyboard control in Flash presentation

    I created a presentation in Flash. And I embedded the following keyboard control scripts so that I can pause the slide by pressing "Spacebar" and play it again by pressing "Enter".
    keyListener = new Object();
    var isStopped : Boolean = false;
    keyListener.onKeyUp = function() {
        var keyCode = Key.getCode();
        if (keyCode == 13) {
           _root.play();
    if (keyCode == 32) {
           _root.stop();
    Key.addListener(keyListener);
    I also embedded getTimer script to delay the speed of the flow so that key-point can be loaded one by one.
    stop();
    t = getTimer();
    onEnterFrame = function(){
        if(getTimer()>= t+3000){

    Other than the above keyboard control, I also add four buttons at the right bottom so that I can play and pause, fast forward and rewind by clicking those four buttons.
    Problems:
    1. the 1st and 2nd slide cannot be paused by the above keyboard control command.
    2. the play and pause buttons at the right bottom is not functional in the 1st and 2nd slide

    remove all your code except your key listener code:
    keyListener  = new Object();
    var isStopped : Boolean = false;
    keyListener.onKeyUp  = function() {
        var keyCode = Key.getCode();
        if  (keyCode == 13) {
           _root.play();
    if (keyCode  == 32) {
           _root.stop();
    Key.addListener(keyListener)
    then change your frame rate so your slides display at the rate you want.

    Marvel RAID is a hardware solution so I assumed that a RAID array would be recognized after a boot up.
    First and foremost, the Marvell Chipset provides SATA III Connectivity.  There is an option in BIOS Setup labeled "SATA 6Gb/s Controller Mode" which is there to set the controller to the desired operating mode.  The Default Setting is SATA "IDE Mode" (SATA IDE/Compatibility Mode) and not a particular RAID Mode.

  • Does using a program like fan control damage my mbp?

    I heard good things about this program so I downloaded it and it cools off the machine wonderfully. However, I was wondering if it caused damage to the machine as the fans are running at about 3 times what they ran before? Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

    I would hazard a guess that if it did have anything to do with the failure of the hardware in any way, the manufacturer would void your warranty. Any repair needed would be chargeable.
    Mac OS X, Boot Camp and the EFI firmware all have system settings created by the manufacturer. Using a program which alters their recommended settings or changes the behaviour of hardware devices within the machine, goes against the terms of the warranty.
    I would ask Apple about Fan Control and get them to confirm that any damage which may be caused (or may not be caused) by a third party program willl not void your warranty.
    In some respects, it's like overclocking a PC. Whilst it may be more beneficial to the system and provide better performance, the maufacturer of the computer can not be expected to repair something which has been damaged by the end user 'tweaking' settings to get better performance.
    In the case of Fan Control, I have not used it so can not refer to the licence terms, the liability of possible damage done to the machine by using this program will either be at the end users own responsibility or the manufacturer of the software. This should be checked prior to installing and using the program.
    I would suggest any program which alters the running of the machine will invalidate your warranty in the event of hardware failure.
