Question about memory upgrade on Satellite 2140 (PS241C-2PW9XP)

I wanna upgrade my memory up to 1gb and i have a pc3200 533 stick.
I am wondering if it would be ok or do i specifically need pc2700?
Thanx :)

Hi
Do you mean the Satellite 2410 or the 2140?!
I ask it because the Satellite 2140 supports the 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM memory modules!!!
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=5523&ft=m&st=3
and
Satellite 2410 supports 200-Pin PC2100/PC2700 DDR SODIMM memory modules
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=6080&ft=m&st=3
I would use the memory modules recommended by Toshiba because in such case you can be 100% sure that the notebook will run stable and properly!!!

  • Question about memory upgrade on Satellite A210-127

I upgraded my memory form 2Gb (2x1 Gb) to 4Gb (2x2 Gb) with two Kingston memory modules KVR667D2S5/2G (PC2-5300 CL5).
For two weeks there were no problems but then I got blue screen every time when system boots reffering to I guss memory error.
I tried to replace memory with original Toshiba's modules but blue screen remains. I have conctacted the service and they say that
it may be memory incompatibility, virus or hard disk malfunction.
After few days of working on the solution I reinstal my laptop with Toshiba DVD and replace original memory. Now everything works fine.
I wonder is Kingston memory cause of my problem or somethig else?
Does anyone know is Kingston memory KVR667D2S5/2G 2Gb compatibile with Toshiba?

I've got an answer forom Kingston Customer Service Specialist:
    Dear Mr. Sekovanic,
Thank you for your e-mail and for your interest in Kingston Technology.
Please note that the memory module with the part number KVR667D2S5-2G is a ValueRAM generic part, built to industry guidelines meeting the JEDEC standard. As they are not tested on any motherboard, we cannot guarantee compatibility of these modules with a specific system.
The branded memory module KTT667D2/2G is designed, manufactured and tested in a specific systems or system series, such as the Toshiba Satellite A210-127. Although the technical specifications are quite similar we do not recommend to use the ValueRAM module on a specific system as yours.
We trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, should you have further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
    so it's not compatibille.

  • Question about memory upgrade on Satellite L20-181

    Hi, there
The minimum recommended memory for Windwows XP is 256 Mb and I do not understand how the company could get away selling notebook with 256 MB with built-in graphic adapter sharing the system memory.
Anyway, I want to upgrade my Toshiba and my intention is to buy additional 512 Mb memory, such as http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=20049&ft=m&st=3
Will it work properly with 768 Mb or shall I buy only the same pairs : 256+ 256, 512+ 512?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
You can easily change your RAM modules without invalidating your warranty. You should find the procedure well documented in your user manual (or you can download a copy of the user manual from the Toshiba web site).
The RAM modules are usually located underneath a small flap at the bottom of the notebook, and are held in place with a small clip on each side. Just release the clips and the RAM module should spring up allowing you to carefully remove it. Note that it will only fit in one way (there is a small cut-out on the bottom which aligns with a peg).
Be very careful to discharge any static electricity by earthing yourself before you touch the RAM modules, they can be easily damaged by a static discharge.
    regards,

  • Question about HDD upgrade on Satellite M40X-184?

    Hello
I want to ask if there is an option to insert a new hdd in my toshiba. As far as I know there is no official support for this??
There is an access to the place where the disk is placed on the side of notebook. S
    o my question is
    1. is it possible to place a new disk (faster and bigger)
    2. is it possible without loosing warranty
    3. what disks do you suggest
    Thanks Szczepaan

    Hello Hinni
Unfortunately there is no public document about that and those information has Toshiba service partner or some independent PC and notebook service specialized for upgrade.
I can just tell you that Toshiba directly dont support hardware upgrade and I have noticed that hardware upgrade is cuts into three areas:
    - user upgrade (memory)
    - dealer upgrade (HDD)
    - service upgrade (WLAN card, BT module)
If you want to exchange the HDD alone take old out and notice all data on the sticker and talk with your local dealer if you want to buy the same but with more capacity. You can test new one and if there is some problem (not recognized by system) you can send it back any time.

  • Question about CPU upgrade for Satellite A30-104?

    Hello,
My Satellite A30-104 has recently come to the end of its warranty, and having had to open up the heatsink for cleaning and seeing that the CPU was accessible, I wonder if there is any (likely) scope for upgrading it.
The processor is a Celeron (Northwood) 2.6GHz. I'm not looking for more grunt, I'd prefer a lower-power chip, though the much larger L2 cache of a Pentium 4 is also desirable. I'd be very grateful if anyone could advise whether any upgrades are likely available, and if so which chips would be appropriate? If I can give any more useful spec information, please ask.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for the reply -- and sorry it went ignored so long, it turns out I hadn't configured my email watches correctly :(
I appreciate that it's really a job for a technician, and I don't want to brick a perfectly good computer, but I think its EOL is not far off anyway so I'm prepared to be a little more invasive than before.
I know that I can get at the CPU, and I know the basic precautions for physically tampering with PC internals.
What I'm first of all concerned about is this: if I replace the CPU, and it doesn't function with the laptop, can this damage other parts of the system such that it'd no longer work by replacing the original?
The Celeron puts out a great deal of heat (all the time) but isn't it fair to assume that a P4-M will be less hot?

  • Question about memory expansion on Satellite A80-117

I have a question regarding the memory compatibility.
(The A8-117 is a 1.6 GHz Centrino (Pentuin M processor 730) with 533 MHz FSB, and 2 MB of 2nd level cache, IntelĀ® 915GM Express chipset)
At the moment i have 1 chip of 512MB (333MHz, CL 2.5) installed. I plan to upgrade to 1.5 or 2GB. So what bothers me is: can I install a 533MHz DDR2 modules on this laptop (in that case the old 333MHz one goes out)?
At the official Toshiba site only 333MHz DDR are provided, while the 915GM express chipset allowes it.
If 533 is not possible i guess i'll just buy additional 1GB of 333MHz DDR.
    Thanks in advance!
    Bostjan

    Hello
At first I want to say that is always recommended to use compatible and tested RAM modules. On this way you will be sure it will work well and without any problems.
According the notebook specification you can upgrade RAM to 2GB max and compatible modules are: PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-2M51) and PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-2M1G).
You can use faster RAM modules but for me it is really not necessary. The notebook specification is 333MHz bus speed and faster modules will not help that notebook runs faster. It is better to buy 2 x PA3313U-2M1G and you will have no problem and notebook will runs much much faster than before.

  • Question about Memory Upgrade for iMac G3/350 - Slot Loading

I was thinking of upgrading my memory and found this on eBay
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350070149602
The auction says that it won't work in an apple computer but it looks like it should. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    James S.

I agree with Richard; if the seller says it won't work in a Mac, why bother? It's likely to be hi-density, which either won;t work or will show up in a Mac as only half its true size.
I've been hanging around these forums for nearly seven years and have seen a lot of tears shed over alleged Mac RAM bought on eBay. Your mileage may vary, but I get RAM for our 13 Macs for online venders who are Mac-savvy. They all work.

  • Question about memory upgrade in a Equium A100-027

    Hi there,
I have an Equium A100-027 notebook with 2 x 512 MB RAM installed. I'd like to add extra memory.
I have used Crucial's (www.crucial.com) website to scan my system and recommend memory modules. According to Crucial the A100-027 will support 2 x 2 GB modules giving 4 GB in total.
However a quick search using Google suggest I can only install 2 x 1 GB (2 GB in total) modules.
    Can anyone clarify please.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stephen

No, guys. The machine can be upgraded up to 4GB since the chipset is able to handle 4 Gigs of RAM.
That means you will have to place 2 x 2GB in the slots of the machine and you will have your upgaded system. :)
One of my machines is a A100 (European - but it doesnt matter which country, chipset is worldwide the same) and Ive upgraded it to 4 Gig with kingston RAM.
    Hope I could help...
    Cheers

  • Questions about ram upgrade of Satellite L100 (PSLA3L)

I have the above laptop and a new stick of Ram, don't have a manual however are there instructions for upgrading this?
I've opened the back and type of clip that holds the RAM is unfamiliar to me. I can see how it goes in but it doens't clip in easily which leads me to belive i'm missing somthing, either that or it requires an ungodly amount of force.
    Grateful for any assistance

Why you dont take a look into the user manual???
There is an detailed instruction placed ;)
Simply remove the cover, lift one side of the insulator sheet and fit the modules connectors into the computers connectors at about 45 degree angles. Press the module careful to ensure a firm connection.
Push the module down so it lies flat. Latches on either side will click into place to secure the module
    Thats all

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite A60-218

    Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade the memory for the Satellite A60-218 models?
I've heard that the memory is onboard (internal) and cannot be replaced. Is this true?
If not, could somebody give me a hint where can I find the memory modules on this model?
I have tried disassembling it without success.
    Thanks!
    Levente

    Hello
Just for info: Satellite A60 has 512 MB internal memory and one sot only is available for upgrade. This unit can handle with max 1,5 GB of RAM. On the bottom side in the middle there is placed memory module cover. Remove it and you will find RAM slot.
For RAM upgrade you can use follow compatible memory modules:
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
If you have more questions please write again.

    Hi
You have several ways to find out what memory module is compatible and supported.
You can use a diagnostic too like Everest, you will check the user manual or the Toshiba website for details or you will contact the service in your country for supported modules.
I will try to answer the question: The Satellite A50 should support PC2700 DDR-RAM like these parts:
    PC2700 256MB (PA3311U-1M25)
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
Now its your choice. You can also google for the offers
By the way: Visit the Toshiba Options & accessories site. There you will find compatible parts

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite Pro L40-15d

    Hi
I have Satellite Pro L40-15d with 512 memory (Samsung) but I wont upgrade to 1GB. I have Kingston ktt667d2/1g I have tray to put in to both slots but nothing work I cant switch on computer.
But when I change for old one laptop is ok. What can I do? Install special program or update BIOS or maybe the memory stick is broken.
    Regards

    Hi
    The notebook doesnt boot after the memory upgrade due to these different issues;
    - memory modules are not compatible together
    - memory modules are not compatible with the notebook
    - memory modules are faulty
    - one of memory slots is faulty
In most case the memory module replacement helps.
One hint; did you try to switch the memory modules in the slots? Sometimes this helps.
Several weeks ago I have updated my memory and the notebook didnt boot.
I thought its a memory malfunction but after module switching the notebook booted correctly.
    Good luck

  • Memory Upgrade on Satellite Pro A10

Can anyone advise me as to the correct RAM type to upgrade my Satellite Pro A10. Its a standard 256mB at the minute and I'm thinking of slotting in an additional 512mB next to it - but am bemused by the array of memory types and nomenclatures - DDR - SODIMM etc !!!
Handy with the screw drivers but not so hot with the acronyms. Many thanks to you all out there who know the score!

    Hi
I understand you very well and sometimes Im also a little bit confused because of the whole notations in the computer world.
The Sat Pro A10 supports 200-Pin PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR SODIMM modules and you can upgrade the memory on this notebook up to 1024MB (2 x 512MB)
You could check this memory module page:

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite Pro A40

Can anyone please advise where is the best place I can get a memory upgrade for my Satellite Pro A40 laptop.
I think my machine is a PC2700 DDR. I am looking for either 512mb or 1gb.
    Thanks in advance.
    Christine

    Hi
On the Satellite Pro A40 you will find 2 memory slots and you can upgrade the memory to max 2GB (2x1024MB)
It should be possible to use these modules:
    PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51)
    PC2100 1GB (PA3278U-1M1G)
    And
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G
I purchase the compatible parts and devices always form the Toshiba service partner in my country because so I'm 100% sure that this parts are compatible.
So I would recommend you also to buy the modules form the ASP in your country.
