Question about NEW dialog

I'm using a Labview 6.02i (Full version) to creat VI. According to the
labview HELP, it could be able to creat Polymorphic VI, but the NEW dialog
doesn't show the option of " Polymorphic VI " on the menu? Is it a function
of professional version only, or any configuration error? Thanks.
Chen

Yes, the ability to create your own polymorphic VIs is a feature of the LabVIEW Professional Development System only. [http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/07250a75bbc292af8625693700523ada?OpenDocument]

  • SSMA (Access - SQL 2012) newbie question about new tables

I have successfully run SSMA and moved the back end tables of an Access project to SQL Express 2012.
    Some questions:
    - if I add a new table to the SQL backend, how do I get it to appear in the Access project?
    - if I want to move the whole thing to another computer, how do I go about it?
    - do I always have to have the SSMA app installed?
    - I can't see an ODBC datasource on the machine
    Thanks for some help
    CarolChi

Thanks, I was not clear in my questions:
    1. Given that from now on the tables should all be in SQL, I think it would be better to create new tables in SQL them there rather than create them in Access and have to keep moving them to SQL with SSMA. So if I create a new table in SQL how can I
see it in Access? Or can I easily create a linked table in Access?
The table created by SSMA have this property:
If I create a new table in SQL and link it I get a more classic ODBC connection:
    2. I am happy with SQL backup/restore, attach/detach. But how does Access know where the SQL Database has gone?
    3. I thought the migration was a one time task, but from what you say it is an ongoing "linking" app. So I would be better to export my tables and re-link them to get something that can be moved to another network or computer?
    4. The SSMA looks very much like an ODBC connection.
This is a new project so I will have to make lots of new tables and also move the whole thing around to different computers, on different networks.

  • Questions about New Macbook Pro

    1.  I've heard this system gets hot, but is it only when gaming?  I'll mostly be using this for web/chat and photo editing but am wondering if my legs would start to get warm or sweat by using it in say bed.
1a.  Can you keep the machine on your lap while playing games like World of Warcraft?
1b.  Do only parts of the laptop get hot, keeping where you place your hand or more importanly wrist(left 'awsd' keys) cool?
    2.  How much battery life do you get on average watching a movie(iTunes download or dvd) or just chatting/web?
    3. I'd like to say money doesn't matter in this purchase but it does have an effect.  Which are smart upgrades and which are things to stay away from?
         3a.  2.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 or 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
3b. 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm or 128GB Solid State Drive (Yes, I have read about a lot of the current SSD drives failing)
3c. MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display  or MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display
    4.  Is it smarter to buy Office and other products with the purchase of this Mac or can they be found for the same/lower price after it arrives?
    5.  Do most get the AppleCare Protection Plan?  And if you have used it how good is the service?
    6.  Parallels or VMware Fusion?
Sorry for all the questions and/or the long read..  I've done a good bit of looking around for a new laptop and this one keeps popping up as a good choice.  If it wasn't for the machine getting hot I might have already bought it.
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
    Dan

AppleCare is NOT insurance.  Insurance implies coverage with user accidents.  AppleCare does not give this kind of insurance.  It does give you warranty, which means any manufacturer defects it can detect that are not obviously usage, wear and tear.  In addition, it gives you unlimited support for one flat fee for both Apple software issues and hardware issues related to the machine it is bought for.  What this sort of support includes, is diagnosing any issues which may arise with the machine, and repairing any that are manufacturer defects.  Other repairs will be at cost.
    To answer your other questions:
    2.  How much battery life do you get on average watching a movie(iTunes download or dvd) or just chatting/web?
Movies, the maximum is probably around 2 hours on DVD, 3 to 4 hours from iTunes. The difference is that the DVD requires constant read from the optical drive, and decoding of the movie.  With iTunes it is just the decoding.
    3. Solid state drives are still in their infancy, and current documentation says that sensitive information should not be put on them.  The problem is that there is no way to 100% erase the data on them.  Antiglare screens are really the only way to do photography and capture the real color of what you are photographing.  Yes, the glossy gives you truer blacks, but the glare you get offsets that benefit if there is anything beyond ambient light in the room.
    4. Office is the same price either way.  You get a demo version of Office when you buy your Mac.  But unless you have a pressing need for 100% compatibility of Office documents, and can deal with the occasional hiccup (I've had none), http://www.neooffice.org/ can handle Excel, Powerpoint, and Word documents without issue.  If you find you can't get what you need from that, then invest in Office.  But at least give Neo Office, and http://docs.google.com/ a change before jumping into more costly versions of Office applications.

  • Question about new video card from MSI - R7750-PMD1GD5/OC

    Hello Folks,
I am afraid I can't find an answer to this anywhere, so I have had to post, even though I bet that somewhere, someone has asked this question before !!!!
I changed by Base Unit PC but kept my old monitors because I like them. I run two Acer AL1917's in extended mode.
Well, thats the problem, I did with the old PC which had a graphics card with two DVI outputs and it was easy to do by using two DVI to VGA converters.
However, the new PC has in it an MSI R7750-PMD1GD5/OC which has only one DVI, one HDMI and one Display Port.
Now, I know what the DVI and HDMI Ports are but have no idea what the Display port is!
THE MAIN PROBLEM IS I CAN'T FIND A WAY TO RUN TWO VGA MONITORS IN EXTENDED MODE with these three outputs?
The monitors are VGA ONLY, so is there any way I can use this display card at all to run two vga monitors in extended mode or should I just eBay it !!!
At the moment I have swapped it out for an old Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 which works fine with two DVI's. But I was rather hoping to be able to use my new MSI card.
Is there any way I can do this please?
Many thanks for any help that anyone is able to give.
With best wishes to all for the New Year Ahead,
    Trevor
    The New box is:

    DT2315
CPU Intel Core i7-3770 CPU at 3.4GHz Ivy Bridge
    Max CPU Speed 3900
    Memory DDR3 Dual 4x4GB (16G)
    Hard Disks Seagate 1x1TB + 2x2TB
    2 x Acer AL1917 19" Monitors. VGA connections only !!!

    Thank you very much.
On order as we speak. !!!!
All this just for those extra few miles of visibility in MS Flight Simulator X
The only two games I ever play when I have time, probably Easter now, are the aforementioned MSFS and X-Plane !!!!
    Very Sad LOL !!!
Still, we shall see. I didn't know it was as simple as a cable because I always thought vga is anologue and HDMI is Digital, n'er the twain shall mix without a converter LOL
Never mind, I love being proved wrong because it means I have learnt something more in this wonderful life
Thank you again, will report back

  • Question about new BIOS on Satellite L20-182

    Hi :)
I've got one question: may I install new BIOS 2.20 on my Satellite L20-182 model no. PSL2XE?
If I can't, why users PSL2X can do this? Are there so many differences on both models?
Greetings and sorry for my English - I'n not the best :)

    Hi,
just for explanation: the bios you mentioned is the right bios for the machine. Toshiba is not writing the full model number since there is a range of model numbers of the same model, so dont worry, they are not different. Maybe the last digit but this is not important for you.
Why I am knowing this? Because many manufacturers are doing this and I was many times confused when updating bioses from another manufacturer...

  • Several unrelated questions about new MacBook

This is probably bad form, but I thought I'd try to get several newbie questions answered at once.
    1) Screen on my new Macbook 2.16 core 2 Duo seems overly bright and almost washed out. I changed the gamma to 2.2 in the DIsplays panel and that helps considerably--is there any downside to running like this?
    2) I have heard "glossy" screen mentioned a lot, and mine said it was a "glossy" screen, but isn't just the standard screen, or are there alternative screens for the Macbook?
    3) How do I find the build date for this Macbook?
    4) I wonder if there's an easy way to get my Win XP installation on Bootcamp on my iMac into a Parallels or VMWare VM on this Macbook?
    5) I read that one small advantage of the newer Macbooks is that they have a revised and improved (and slightly smaller) power supply block. Mine looks **** the same as a friend's Macbook Core Duo -- is there some way to check for the current power supply? Machine may have been in Amazon stock for a while for all I know.
    6. Doesn't this new Macbook have wireless n? Would there be a significant increase in speed were I to get a new wireless n-capable router/modem (right now I've got a wireless G)?
I'm sure I have another half-dozen, but I'll practice retraint and hope nobody minds my ganging up on you.
    Cheers--

    Hi Pier,
    1) Screen on my new Macbook 2.16 core 2 Duo seems overly bright and almost washed out. I changed the gamma to 2.2 in the DIsplays panel and that helps considerably--is there any downside to running like this?
None that I can think of. Obviously, if you are doing professional image manipulation then you could calibrate the screen, preferably with professional calibrating tools.
    2) I have heard "glossy" screen mentioned a lot, and mine said it was a "glossy" screen, but isn't just the standard screen, or are there alternative screens for the Macbook?
The standard screen is matte with glossy available as a free option.
    3) How do I find the build date for this Macbook?
Look at the serial number and specifically the first 4 digits. Mine is W8717XXXXXX. This tells me that my build date is week 17.
    4) I wonder if there's an easy way to get my Win XP installation on Bootcamp on my iMac into a Parallels or VMWare VM on this Macbook?
The only way is if you have the original Win XP CD. Installation of software on to another computer is, of course, subject to the licensing terms - EULA
    5) I read that one small advantage of the newer Macbooks is that they have a revised and improved (and slightly smaller) power supply block. Mine looks ** the same as a friend's Macbook Core Duo -- is there some way to check for the current power supply? Machine may have been in Amazon stock for a while for all I know.
Sorry, don't know but you could pop down to an Apple retail store or dealer and compare the newer power adapters with your one.
    6. Doesn't this new Macbook have wireless n? Would there be a significant increase in speed were I to get a new wireless n-capable router/modem (right now I've got a wireless G)?
802.11n can be enabled for free if you have purchased the new Airport Extreme Base Station. Alternatively, if you wish to enable 802.11n but have a third party wireless router you can purchase the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac from the online store - it's only $1.99.
The following Apple KB document will guide you on how to check if 802.11n is enabled on your MBP:

  • Question about new infinity contract

    Hi,
I'm thinking of signing up with BT Infinity on the 19.99->27.99 calls/unlimited BB package.
During the online order process I was unsure of a few things
    a) If I decide to stick with monthly phone line billing during the order process, can I still make this change at a later point in time to save the £2/month (obviously with the 12 month applying from that time)
    b) Engineer appts are coming up for mid Jan. Am I able to cancel prior to this date at no charge without affecting both BB and phone contracts? Is it also easy to change the date?
    c) If I went for the 9.99 "line saver" does this apply from i) date of BB provision ii) immediately [this is the reason I'm thinking about a) in case b) applies]

    hi mate
    A - yes
B - yes just call cs a few days in advance
C - not sure what you want to know please explain further

  • Odd question about new keyboard

Just purchased a new logic thin keyboard. I have had these color coded boards in the past. Never had a problem customizing them. For some reason on this one, the top row will not perform the FCP shortcuts, overwrite, etc. It is supposed to default to those, but it does not. I have tried to re-assign those functions, but still for some reason I am getting the standard mac commands. The rest of the keyboard seems to be OK. I am lost. Any input? Pardon the pun.

  • Satellite A30: Question about new Hard Drive

The hard drive on the above computer has failed. When formating the system hangs at 70%. When running a utility to recover the hard drive again it fails at 70%.
I am now looking at replacing the hard drive and would like to know can any 2.5" hard drive (speed/make/size) be used (non Sata).
I would have assumed it would not be a problem but there is no way of changing the settings in the Bios, does the Bios auto detect the drive when fitted?.
When fitting the hard drive can it be fitted through the access panel on the rear of the laptop or does the whole back need to be removed?
    Thanks,
    Keith.

    Hi Keith,
The hard drive on the satellite A30 is located underneath the optical drive which must be removed from its slot first. To do this just undo one screw (F5 I think) underneath the notebook and the optical drive will then be free to slide forwards.
The hard drive will then be visible secured in place by four screws (2 on each side). Remove the screws and then pull the hard drive towards the front of the notebook to disconnect it from the connector.
You will need to transfer the mounting brackets to the new hard drive which is then inserted by reversing the above procedure.
The BIOS will automatically recognise the new drive.
If you choose a drive with a higher rotaional speed than the normal 4200RPM be careful of the extra heat that will be generated. I use a 5400RPM drive in my A30 and it does tend to warm up quite nicely when the drive is being used heavily.

  • MSI P45 Neo (question about new bios v1.9)

    Hi!
2009-04-03 MSI releasen new BIOS v1.9 to MSI P45 Neo
Fixed: - Disabled 5V USB function under S4/S5.
Tell me plz - what that mean ? It's very recommended update or not?
    Many thanks!

If you have no problems with the BIOS Version you are currently using, there is no need to update the BIOS (and it is not recommended to do that either).
    Quote
Tell me plz - what that mean ?
    S4 - State = Hibernation
    S5 - State = Shutdown-State
The BIOS Update should turn off the 5V power supply to the USB Ports when the system is shutdown (S5) or in Hibernation State (S4).

  • Qosmio X500-11U- Question about new BIOS update

    Hi to everyone
I need to clarify a matter, the BIOS update that was released December 2010 was the 2.90 now a new release march 2011 is named 1.40! Is this an upgrade a downgrade or a joke? Should I proceed with the newest 1.40 or stick with the old 2.90?
I forgot to mention that I own a X500-11U and thanks in advance

    Hi nick73,
On Toshiba European driver download page there are two different versions available:
    BIOS-Update 1.40-WIN for X500 PQX34E models
    BIOS-Update 2.90-WIN for X500 PQX33E models
Your model the X500-11U belongs to PQX33E series and that means only BIOS Update 2.90 is compatible and 1.40 would be the wrong version.
So its not a joke and before you search for BIOS update next time, also use the correct part number ;)

  • [SOLVED] Question about new pacman upgrade

The release notes ay that "Installing package with -U is now smart like -S — dependencies and conflicts are now handled"
So, if I am understanding this correctly... when I am installing something from the AUR, I only need "makepkg -i", instead of "makepkg -si"?
    Last edited by dfetter88 (2010-06-23 11:38:37)

No, you will still need to install dependencies to build a package.    But if you used "makepkg -sr" to make sure you have removed the unneeded makedepends, then you can use "pacman -U <pkg>" to get the runtime depends back.
