That's an updater for the Japanese-language version of
Dreamweaver 4,
not a program that enables Japanese on the English version of
DW4. You
will need to uninstall Dreamweaver, and reinstall it.
Early versions of Dreamweaver do not support Japanese in the
English
version unless you run the program in a Japanese-language
operating
system. I can't remember which was the first version to
support Asian
languages in the English version, but Dreamweaver 4 is
definitely too old.

  • Not solved with Blinking Folder with Question Mark after Erasing Hard Drive

Before asking, I found someone had asked exact the same question, but that was actually an unsolved thread.

Thanks for the reply, held command+R again and it is trying to pick up WiFi, but it's not picking up my network and won't accept the password even when I try to put it in manually. Any thoughts on that?
Me too had tried the command+R and failed to manually connect to my network. Can anyone help?

Well, it was solved. I shifted to other place and tried other WIFis. One of the WiFi had the 2002f problem and another was fine, so the reinstall worked smoothly eventually.
On the apple support page it says that Supported network configurations and protocols includs both WPA/WPA2, not matter what they are, but it might not be true.

  • Question marks after every sentence in Mail

I use to use Entourage as my default mail program on my Mac. This year I switched over to Mail and also switched my internet provider. Now when I write certain people, they get a question mark after every sentence (this is what it looks like: )
Anyone know what causes this? Remedies? It seems to be people who are on PCs. Is it Mail or possibly my new intenet provider somehow? This was never an issue before.
    Thanks

    Hi
I am wondering How to fix the " flashing question mark after the finder icon when starting up" without an apple keyboard. I have 2 of those .7Ghz emacs so just wanna fix them
    Thx

    Hi,
    >I am using a wireless standard keyboard so maybe the emac doesn't regognise it
Installation of driver software may be required. Do not expect any wireless device to automatically work with a Mac unless guaranteed to do so. In a case like this, use a wired USB keyboard (a PC keyboard should be OK) and a wired mouse to begin with.

  • Start up disk full flashing file question mark after bootable back up attem

My MacBook Pro flashes a file with a question mark after a bootable back up attempt. Any help or suggestions please. Tried Disk Warrior. PRAM reset, disk utility. Hard drive is working.
    Thanks,

PS. Disk Warrior program warns of "not enough space" when trying to create a new directory.

    Hi kbtb,
Is all the data on the drive backed up? What if you wipe the drive and reinstall a fresh OS, I'd be curious if that works. It sounds like the startup error is indicative of a data directory corruption problem. How much free space is on the HD?

  • Flashing gray question mark after 10.5.8 update?

This isn't so much a post to ask for help, as it is just trying to see if anyone got the same result and what you had to do to resolve it.
Yesterday I updated to 10.5.8 and it did it's install and then restarted the system. Upon restart, it did the initial start-up charm and then loaded up to a gray screen with a flashing folder icon with a question mark on it.
I called Apple support and we walked through repairing the disk with the disk utility, so on and so forth, and I'm still stuck with the same screen. The support agent says the next step is to fully reinstall the OS X...
So that's my next step. I'm currently waiting for a friend of mine with a MacBook to come over so I can put my iMac into Target Disk Mode and pull some files before deleting everything.
    Anyone else?

You may not need to erase your drive. See:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • My MacBook pro stop working and it shows folder with question mark after this update,  it's not my fault,  Apple should solve the problem with out ask me to make payment

After updating my MacBook pro it shows only a folder with question mark on it
It is not my fault, Apple updates problem
They should solve it fir me without make any payment
    Thanks

Try starting your computer holding down the option key as soon as you hear the startup sound, and continue holding it. Hopefully, you will see the icon for your startup disk come up on your screen within a minute. Click on that icon and press return. If your machine starts up normally from there, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and reselect your startup volume

  • Flashing Folder with Question Mark after Trackpad 1.0 Update

My machine won't boot after installing this update. I get the flashing folder with question mark and can't even boot from the Install DVD either... I just get a frozen spinney wheel at the Apple Logo screen. I've tried resetting the PRAM and everything else that a Googling of the problem suggests. This update bricked my Macbook!!!!
Anybody else having this problem? Anybody have any suggestions or am I stuck with going to see a "genius"?

I've not seen any other posts about it causing problems, worked fine here. You've tried resetting the PRAM the only other thing you could try is:
Boot holding down Apple/S and don't let go until you see scrolling text.
When that stops and you see a root#: prompt enter
    fsck -fy
Let it run through all the checks and repairs.
If it fails first time, at any time, or finds and fixes a fault - run the command again and keep doing so (some fixes can take several passes) until it says "Appears to be OK" then enter
    reboot

  • Blinking folder with question mark after doing update

I just upgraded a Mac from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Next, I downloaded and installed the most recent Snow Leopard updates to bring it to 10.6.8
After installing the update there was a period of time where nothing was onscreen and than a blinking folder with a question mark appeared.
I cut the power and rebooted and it seems to be working ok.
    1. Is there some damage done to the installation? Should I reformat and start over? I just do not want it to cause a problem later on when I start doing work on it.
    Thanks.

There is no System Folder in OS X. Here's what I would recommend doing now. Make sure that the normal startup volume is selected in Sys Prefs>Startup Disk. If it wasn't selected, this may be why you saw the blinking folder/question mark.
Download the 10.6.8 Combo update, boot to Safe Boot by holding the shift key down at the startup chime. Give it much longer to boot than a regular startup. A Safe Boot will, effectively, check and repair the Disk, if it is found necessary to repair it. Then install the 10.6.8 Combo, which may fill in any missing or corrupted files. Installing from Safe Boot, where most third party programs are disabled, reduces the chance of any incompatibiites with the update.

  • Apple TV shows a flashing question mark after trying to update

    Hello everyone!
I own a first generation Apple TV which I updated succesfully up to v2.1 so far. By then this procedure came along with more or less the same problems I'll describe below - but up to now the updates always worked some day.
Now I wanted to update my ATV to v2.2 and used the usual update feature in the settings. ATV downloads the update, asks for updating and then restarts with an ATV-logo with a flashing question mark.
    What I've done next:
    1. Pulling out the power plug leads to a restart with the old v2.1
    2. Holding down MENU + Minus on the remote restarts the ATV with Apple TV Recovery Mode
2.1 Restart leads to a restart with the old v2.1
2.2 Diagnostic analysis says ATV is free from defects
2.3 Restore resets the ATV to v1.0
    3. Now I've got v.1.0
    4. Step 1 leads to a restart with v1.0
    5. Step 2 to leads to the same results (restart leads to a restart with v1.0)
So what am I to do? I'm out of warranty and don't want to pay for a malfunctioning update feature

I had this problem: Disconenct your internet modem and router, plug them back in,make sure the WEP password (if you have one) is right when you reenter it in on your Apple TV, and than try. If that doesn't work, I would d the last resotrt - Take the Apple TV to the nearest Apple Store/Best Buy or Comp. USA (if they're still alive where you live).
    Good Luck.

  • Alternating mac face and question mark after i tried to install OS X 10.3

I have a Powerbook G4 and I tried to update my operating sytem from 10.2.8 to 10.3 but it froze. After I restarted it I got an alternating mac face and question mark. It just ejects the CDs I try to put into it except for the installation disk for OS X 10.1.3. When I put that one in a smiling mac computer come up then all this type comes across the screen, something about kernels and panic.
Please help me, I've got a project due soon.

    Could someone please help me,
when i open my power book g4, an alternating Mac face and question mark appears, and no matter what I do it is still there.
it only changes when I insert the installtion CD of MAC OS X 10.3, but after the Apple logo appears, the screen went white and sometimes just blue, and it just won't work. Then after restarting, the alternating Mac face and question mark still appear.
i also tried the hardware test, after doing both of the tests, the result is consistently "passed". But after restarting, the same problem happens.
    what should i do?
    please help me
    thanx in advanced

  • Blue question mark after uploading image

After uploading an image to a collection page I only get a blue question mark on live site...no pics.  Any idea why ?
Also, can add descriptions to video titles so they show up on content list without having to reupload entire video ?

I'm having this same problem with thumbnails. I just tried to update all my graphics yesterday...
The images I uploaded are showing up no problem in the back end, and if I click through to the collection page, the 300x300 version is there, but the front page of my site is a mess of blue question marks, and it's public-facing.
    HELP! Anyone?

  • Can not get past blinking question mark after restarting in os 9

I have a ibook g3 clamshell 576mb ram 366mhz 30gb hd. I added the hard drive and upgraded the memory and then forgot to update the firmware before I installed os x tiger. So I keep getting kernal panics because the firmware is not upgraded. Like a fool when I upgraded to tiger I erased os 9 to free up more space thinking I would never use os 9 ever again anyway. Well the only way you can upgrade the firmware is to have os 9 installed so I copied os 9 system folder and applications from another ibook and transformed them to my ibook hd. I then clicked on the os 9 on the start up disk and tried to boot into os 9 so I could do the firmware update. Well now it will not boot past the blinking question mark. I guess there must of been some missing files? How do i get past the blinking question mark? Do I have to go and buy a copy of os 9 to reinstall it back on the ibook? Please help I am stuck here.

Don't think anyone will like the answer but this is how I did it. You have to put a os x cd in restart holding c and then follow through with the install. I used os x 10.0.3 then you have to do the same with a os 9 install disc and initialize disk image and then do the os 9 install download your firmware update and then reinstall the mac os x you are going to use. And for anybody out there a ibook g3 with an old airport card can connect to wep all you have to do is add a $ before your password works everytime. Hope this helps somebody. My only problem is after a downloaded the firmware update thats a .smi file evrytime I try to open it it says no application could open it. I thought .smi were self mounting image files. I never have used os 9 much and have no idea how to open this file. Can anybody give me a walk through on how to select a application to open this file so I can mount and install this firmware update.

  • Question mark after restart

A week ago, my macbook just froze...I had to restart via the power button... since than I can't start the os x, naimly I have a question mark flashing on the screen. I have already done the following:
    1. Hold the option key after turning on the machine- result, only "efl boot" icon appears as an option...I have  selected it, did no good after 10 min. of waiting, except showing me a gray screen with nothing else on it...the got the same result after three tries.
    2. Hold "option", "command", "P", "R" buttons when restarting- result, the machine restarts allmost immediately, I release the keys, the white screen, the apple appear and the little circle starts to load... it's still loading after 15 min :-(
I have a mac os x install DVD 10.5.6 at home, but it's the one that I've used on my imac... I don't have the original dvd/cd that came with my macbook...Can I use the one I have from my imac for re-install on the mac book and how?
