When in edit, using the zoom tool at 400% or more windows keeps telling me they must close down due to an error. Happened 12 times over 2 days with several reboots.

Try deleting the Editor preferences and see if you still get the error.

I hate to say this, but there is no way to put 1280X720 footage on a 1920X1080 sequence and upscale it to match the frame size without losing some quality. Basically, you are asking Premiere Pro to provide new pixels that were not in the original video. That is seldom a really good idea. You might want to try investing in program designed to upscale video. I have never used this, but there is a free trial, so give it a shot: http://www.infognition.com/VideoEnhancer/
Of course, it all depends on the content. Try it with Premiere Pro. Only you can judge. However, you might need to consider putting all of your 1920X1080 on a 1280X720 sequence instead, and just produce your video at that size.
Or, once again, this depends on the content, put some sort of frame around the smaller footage, either a blurred out version of the upscaled footage - lots of TV stations do this with 4:3 footage on a HD program, or purposefully make it even a little smaller, or crop it, and use parts of the same video in Picture-In-Picture. You have seen this before. A person talking on the phone in a larger frame to the left, and on the right a closeup of the mouth, or maybe a clip of the person they are talking to. Or use some B-Roll in the PiP.
Get imaginative, because you already know that you messed up, so perhaps make it look like you did it on purpose.

IPhoto 6 workflow questions -- iPhoto & Elements

All -- just installed iLife 6, but have not used it yet. The combination of iWeb & .mac looks very promising for finally being able to easily share my photos with my family/friends. But I am still not clear on the best file workflow to be able to take advantage of all the iPhoto/iWeb/,mac functionality, and also the editing power of Adobe Elements (the editing software I am using). If you all could help me with this I would be so grateful.

I move a photo from iPhoto to Element to edit it.
If my goal is to move it back to iPhoto to share, how should I resize it? How should I optimize it for the best quality while viewing on a monitor, but with enough quality that if folks want to make a print, they can?
What format should I save it back to iPhoto in? JPEG? Or can iPhoto handle TIF or PSD and is that recommended?
What about a master, unedited image. Should I worry about that? And if so, where will that live?
If I plan on printing a photo, should I optimize the file for that purpose and print from Elements instead of bringing the file back into iPhoto?
As you can see from my questions, I am still unclear on the relationship of iPhoto and Elements (or any other editing software). I would be so grateful for any help you can give in this discussion, or other places you can point me to get this information.

haha, the way I work is, if a program doesn't do what I want the way I want it, then I find a program that does. For many, just iPhoto will fit the bill.
This is what I do. I take a photo shoot. If it is important photos, I upload them to ClubPhoto so others can download and print them. Most often I do not print my 4x6 photos. I wait till there is a special at ClubPhoto for half price prints and order all my yearly prints at that time. I buy one photo album that fits 200 photos and I order 200 photos from my albums online to be printed. Year in photos are now done.
If someone comes over and says, hey, I love that photo, can you print it out for me? then I use my Printers software to print the 4x6 or 8x10.
I used .mac and now iWeb to keep family and friends informed of whats going on in Photos and videos. It's more or less just for fun.
When I said I have an iWeb site, I mean that I have used iWeb, a new application in the iLife suite to publish a web site with photos movie clips and a blog.
You do not have to do any resizing if you are going to use iWeb as the software does it for you behind the lines.
If you are resizing to upload anywhere else or for another purpose, it all depends on what size you need for your purpose. For album sites, 800x600 is a good size.
For emailing a photo, either do it right within iPhoto and you will get a choice on what size you want to send, or export to the desktop, at which time you can input the size you want to export the photo at.
I always keep full resolution photos in my library. If I want a smaller size, I always export the image at a smaller size and keep the full size in the library.

License (EULA) Questions - Photoshop Elements 11

The Photoshop Elements 11 EULA (Gen_WWCombined-en-us-20111219-1230-clean.pdf, page 3, sections 2.1.3 & 2.1.5) states that you "must purchase a separate license for use of the Software on each operating system platform" in a dual boot scenario. My scenario is not a dual boot one, but I do want to run the program on both my Dell Desktop PC (Win 7 Pro) and my Apple MacBook Pro Laptop (OS X 10.7.5). Does that mean I'll have to purchase two licenses as well? If so, is this enforced at the program installation/activation level, or just in the law? Also, why? If the license allows for two installations, why must they be on the same platform?

Question about elements in ABAP programming. Please see..

I want to know what is the way to find more info about an element eg SPOS in the structure ALV_S_SORT. The short description doesnt tell much. When I was reading a word file (tutorial on ALV reports) I came to know that this is used to provide sort criteria for the different fields. But I don't know what should be the value of SPOS? I see that it is a NUMC2 (length=2) type data. This info is used in the function call REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY, but no info on what values to give to it?
Please let me know what is the right approach to tackle such issues at clients place.. Should I ask at this forum each time.. Please let me know about the field spos and how did you find out.

If you want to start with ALV programming but are not yet comfortable enough with class-based ALV list (CL_GUI_ALV_GRID, CL_SALV_TABLE) then I highly recommend to use fm REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC. The interface of the fm is very similar (if not identical) to method SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID.

The tutorial is intended for OO-based ALV lists but using the fm I suggested you can use this documentation as well.

Question on Element Quick View

I'm playing around with the new features and have found something I thought was weird/unfinished. In Element Quick View, you can rearrange your html pretty easily by dragging and dropping the tags into other areas of the list and that moves a given element within the code. It seems pretty nifty for people who get a bit sloppy with Cut and Paste and/or aren't really all that familiar with code.
This all seems to work well, except within tables.
I can't move any table related tag within a table in the Element Quick View. I can understand not being able to move a <tr> or <td> out of a <table> which would cause some validation issues, but moving a <tr> within the <table> to re-order your rows seems like a no-brainer as far as usefulness goes. Moving a single <td> from the front of a <tr> to the end to rearrange the order of cells also seems like it would be a "given".
Was there some reason moving table rows within the table or cells within the row is not possible within EQV or is that supposed to be possible and I need to take a look at my cache or prefs?

I suppose I was only considering the quick spreadsheet table I was playing with in my test page.
That would be a bit of a nightmare with a layout table.

Question: Photoshop Elements 6 Icons Lost in Windows

I updated my system with new adobe reader 11 having had 9 before and then loaded some photos. The new photos displayed as full size pictures but I have lost the icons. My existing photos retained their icons and but disappeared as I looked at them. I use Windows xp.
I found some advice that said to change the affinity for the organiser which I did. I also use a shortcut which was another hint. I tried to update thumbnails but although the egg timer started to run, it didn't solve the problem.
I read that this glitch had been updated in elements 7 and have subsequently purchased pse 11. My catalogs have moved across, but without thumbnails.
Any ideas on how to get them back?

Question My Elements 8 keeps crashing

I just installed Elements 8 into a Windows 7 system and have tried to load in some video from my video camera and after about 5 minutes it just crashes and comes up with the Adobe crash screen. Have tried it time after time and it always crashes after 5- 15 minutes. I tried loading it into a XP system and it goes for longer but still crashes. Does anyone know what the problem is or has come across the same fault?

I'm having the same problem with adobe elements 8 too. I just got a new computer with a phenom quad core, 8 GB ram, etc.
So far this is what i've experienced:
-crashes constantly, sometimes because its using too much system memory or it encounters an error or just randomly crashes. Usually its also around 15 or 10 minutes into editing
-When i tried to create a DVD, i got a blue screen every time i hit the DVD button. I've reinstalled quicktime, turned off background rendering, etc.
-the program also has problems sometimes when i try to import a clip on the hard drive into the program, saying that its the wrong type of file when i just moved the same type of file onto the timeline.
-when i save it sometimes onlt goes 50% then freezes and wont continue.
The project I've been editing is in total about 30 minutes of standard definition footage. the project was due yesterday but i cant finish the editing or even get what i have onto a disk.

I am in France and have left my Photoshop Elements 8 disc at home in SA. I need to download Photoshop Elements 8 but the Adobe site appears to only have Elements 10. Please advise if you know where I can download it. I have the licence keys with me.

Question photoshop elements

Yesterday I bought Adobe photoshop elements. I downloaded the Akamai Installer. There is no link to download Elements - and it says my card hasn't been verified..how long does this take? It has been well over 24 hours. Frustrating, my son needed this program today, and I'm about to return it.

The software will run for up to 30 days. It will then not operate until you enter a valid serial number.

Question about Elements 9 - "edTMP-1, 0 bytes" after editing

I am currently running Elements 9. After editing photos, then trying to print or email them, I get an "edTMP-1, 0 bytes", and my picture is totally gone. Has anyone else had this problem? It is so frustrating to lose these pictures after spending time editing them.
Is it possible to ever max out the amount of photos you can manage on Elements?

Use File >> Save As
after you finish editing, to make a dupliacte copy; then email that copy.

Question re Elements 11 Organizer Duplications

I have Elements 11 on my MAC. It keeps duplicating the images in Organizer on its own. How can I stop this, and how can I easily get rid of these unwanted duplicate images?

Noob question - variable elements don't show up

I’m having an issue where I have a valid xsd that I’m trying to create a variable for. It creates the variable fine, but none of the children elements show up. It looks like they try to show up and then quickly disappear. I’m sure it’s something I didn’t either set correctly or do right since this is my first non-hello world attempt. Am I missing a step? The steps I’ve done are the following:
-     In the structure window I imported the schema and the root node shows up fine.
-     I then create a message type under the process WSDL, which goes fine.
-     Then I create the variable based on message type which works fine.
-     When I finally try to expand the children nodes under variable they don’t show up.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

You may be suffering from a parsing error. I've even had correct docs that are validating in XMLSpy fail in JDeveloper for various reasons. These problems have dealt with rpc-encoded documents. Look at the doc inside of JDeveloper and see if there are any validation errors.
There is a checkbox in the bottom left part of the GUI when you're trying to navigate that might give you idea of the problem.

Color depth question in Elements 11

I just upgraded from PSE 2 to PSE 11. I was surprised that with the newer version I am unable to edit .NEF files in the editor (no problem in ACR) without converting them from 16 bit to 8 bit color. I have tried searching the knowledge base but the website punts me to page 1 of the 407 page manual, which frankly is not all that helpful. What is the workaround for this problem - hopefully it's not simply buying different software. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Actually pse 2 wouldn't handle 16 bits/channel images at all, it just converted them to 8 bits/channel when you opened them, so pse 11
has a lot more support for 16 bits/channel images, but still, pse 11 could have more support especially from the paint tools.
Or if you were using camera raw 1, then the plugin would automatically open the images as 8 bits/channel in pse 2.

Get the smart brush tool (the one with the gears) out of the toolbox. In the drop-down, go to Reverse Effects, and in the dialog the first one should be "Turn image black & white in reverse".
With cursor, drag over the object that is to remain in color
