Question on gray balance adjustment

the instructions say to enter Edit mode and then "position the crosshair pointer over a color in the photo that you want to be gray". Problem is when I enter the Edit mode I do not get a crosshair pointer, I just get the standard issued arrow pointer and positioning it on a color that I want to be gray or clicking on a color that I want to be gray does not adjust the gray balance.
Anybody know what I might be missing?

The instructions appear to be inaccurate when describing the cursor as a "crosshair". But the grey balance function works. Just point with the standard pointer and click the command key.
(You will see, though that this makes some rather drastic changes to your if you don't understand grey balance sufficiently to know which colour in your image to use as the set point.)

White Balance Adjustment question

I have about 800 images from a wedding, and am now ready to go thru them and adjust the white balance.
However, am I missing something?
I click on the white balance option, then the dropper, then click on the image to adjust the white balance ...
But, when I go to the next image, I have to THEN click on white balance AGAIN then the dropper, then the image etc etc etc???!!!
Can I just click on the dropper once, then scroll thru the images to adjust without having to ACTIVATE the white balance option again and again and again?
When there are 800 images, adding in those extra two steps is slowing me down big time.
Does this make sense?

I'm afraid the interface lets you down here. What's unfortunate is that there is no keyboard shortcut for the WB tool. There is for Edge Sharpen, for instance (ctrl-S) -- which means that for each image you can leave the HUD open and very quickly bring in the tool so its standard preset will be applied. It would be awfully nice to have that fast, mouseless capability with other tools.
(Query: since you can't get rid of default tools, which is why they're grayed out in the "+" menu on the HUD, why do they have keyboard shortcuts?? Pressing the shortcut doesn't toggle the tool off-and-on, or anything. Why do Color and Highlights & Shadows have ctrl-key shortcuts, and Crop and Straighten have non-ctrl-key shortcuts? Mysteries, mysteries.)
It might be most efficient to figure out what most images need, lift and stamp that setting, then go back and nudge or cancel the WB correction on the others. Depending on the numbers and proportion, of course.

White balance adjustment

When selecting neutral gray target with the white balance tool, are RGB readings on the loupe averaged values according to the scale of the loupe? Then, is the white balance adjustment made with this tool averaged for the pixels under the loupe?

You can test it for yourself.
Zoom in on a portion of the picture.
Hit W to get the white balance tool.
Click on a spot to obtain WB
Hit W again (unless you have autodismiss set other wise)
Use your scroll wheel on your mouse to change the loupe size and click again on the same pixel.
The WB changes a bit each time.

Selecting Color Balance adjustment layer brings up Levels adjustment layer

Ok, so, all of a sudden I cannot get a color balance adjustment layer to come up. Every time I do photoshop creates a levels layer. Selecting levels makes a levels layer. All of the other adjustment layers seem to be working normally. How do I fix this? I have a deadline and no time to be reinstalling photoshop.

Reinstalling the application seldom helps, and re-installing without trashing your preferences is futile as you end up right where you started.

Gray balance gets green toned images in 3.5 upgrade

Something I've noticed working with the Aperture 3.5 upgrade — when you use the gray balance picker in the White Balance brick using Temperature & Tint, when I pick a white, black or gray spot to balance the colors, I get a green tinted image.
Like a studio light image will go from 6176/8 Temp/Tint to 3611/-120. Just started happening with upgrade. Any similar problems, or suggested fixes?

There have been several threads reporting the same problem. The "Temperature & Tint" does not work correctly. Send a bug-report, and avoid this this feature until a bug-fix is out.
The other white balance settings seem to work.
For example: Eye Dropper malfunctioning in Aperture 3.5/Mavericks.

Local white balance adjustment tool

I really like the new local white balance adjustment tool. If I could change something will be to give a real color temperature to the tool instead of a number from -100 to 100. Let me give you an example of how I used it today.
I forgot to bring some gels for my flashes for a photo shoot. I was using the flashes to illuminate the foreground and I had fluorescent lightening on the background. It was the perfect opportunity to try the new tool. I knew exactly what the color temperature for both front and back were. I applied the background color temperature of 3200k to the picture and when to locally change the foreground. At this point I was guessing what it should be at. My monitor is color calibrated but I was under fluorescent lights with my laptop. Instead I could have added +2200k or dialed 5500k to the local adjustment tool.
Please let me know if you need more information.

Where is the white balance adjustment?

The iPhoto app provided an adjustment for white balance, if Photos in ios8 is a major update and replaces iPhoto, where do I find the white balance adjustment?

Do you just have to eyeball the correct adjustment rather than have it done autmatically?

Color balance adjustment layer opening as levels

When I try creating a color balance adjustment layer is it opening a levels adjustment layer. I'm using the New Adjustment Layer button at the bottom of the Layers panel. Is this a bug with CS6? How can I fix the problem?

This is the process that I go through:
Selecting the adjustment icon at the bottom of the Layers Panel, as shown below.
I select color balance, as shown below.
The properties panel is brought up, and shows the color balance adjustment controls.
In your properties panel, are your saying when you follow the above, that level adjustments come up?

Color Balance Adjustment Layer to blend faces?

I'm using 2 different images of 2 different people, and layer masking features from one person on to another. Afterwards, I play with the levels a little bit, though the skin tones from the different features are still off. I tried using a Color Balance Adjustment Layer, though I'm not really sure what to look for. I'm just eyeballing it, though are there any guidelines for doing something like this?
1. Should I be adjusting the midtones, shadows or highlights?
2. I added a little bit of red, is there ever a time when you might add add magenta or green to blend skin tone? What about yellow or blue?
3. Any other general tips for doing this?

What version of PS are you using? I think there were a couple versions that variations was removed. If you have it, it should be done on the layer that you want to adjust the color, but I would make that layer a smart object first, so you could undo what ever you did.

X-Fi *entertainment mode* and L/R balance adjustment

Is there a L/R balance adjustment available in the *Entertainment Mode*? I can't find it (c.f. the older Creative Mixer Control had it by default) .. or does one have to switch to Music Creation mode to adjust balance?

No the bass and treble settings from entertainment mode do not apply to game mode. There are no bass and treble controls in game mode.
While the idea behind the new modular architecture is good, as always with CL, the execution is utterly abysmal. Whole heaps of functionality that were availble in the Audigy 2 ZS drivers, just isnt there with the X-fi. The console does not work with a dual monitor setup, each time you switch mode there is a massi've audio crunch, the driver panel crashes continuosly, the entertainment mode is too big, the panel cannot be resized, etc etc.
Then not to mention the card makes huge screeching noises when loading levels in BF2, does not work with Teamspeak, these are all things that the Audigy 2 ZS could manage but the X-Fi cant. Antoher day of this and I will probably be requesting a refund.

I am on Lightroom 5 and the exposure and white balance adjustment tools on the right side of the screen have disappeared. How do I restore them?

Right click on one of the other panel headers e.g Tone Curve and a menu will pop up for you to select Basic.
How it gets de-selected is not apparent but several users have had this happen since the release of version 5. It has ahppened to me on at least two occasions.

Element and Balance Adjustment

Hi all,
We have a recurring deduction element. Lets call it ABC. Last month when ABC ran in payroll, it deducuted $100 rather than $50. Now in the next month's payroll we want to refund the employee $50 AND also show it on the Statement of Earnings.
The question is how do I go about doing this and adjust the element AND the balance associated with it.
Would appreciate a quick response. if possible.

You will not be able to have another element with the same name. So I think 2. Once I have made the element, do I just go to an employee's entries form and add it there?
Add an element entry of the same element and give an value of -50 in Pay Value.3. And lastly where do I EXACTLY add the refund amount?

Balance Adjustment

Hi All
I have a doubt, please let me know whether this is possible in SAP FICO.
During the year end, i have carried forward the balance of a balance sheet a/c to the next year but now i have come across an adjustment for that a/c. What should I do? That say for example, my balance sheet a/c is ABCD and i have carried forward the closing balance of that a/c XXXX as next year opening balance. now i have to make an adjustment to that a/c in the last year. Is it possible in SAP. If yes how?

Goto to F-02 and post the entry in the past date.
for example you carried forward the bank a/c from last year (2008) to next year (2009) and the balance is say 10000.
Now you are in 2009. Goto F-02 and post the document with any date in 2008. You can see that the closing balance and the opening balance get adjusted automatically.

Does anyone come across of load balancing SFTP service by using CSS1150X? Typically by configuring CSS1150X to load balance FTP service, the configuration will as follow:

I believe application ftp-control would not be used for sftp.
This might cause the session to get dropped when there is no data channel created and cause issues with long connections.
