Question on Transformations transport

Had two questions:
1. When you transport transformations from source to target, are the tech ids newly created? We noticed that for the ones that are between a DSO to a cube, the tech names dont change, but for ones from R/3 to DSO, the tech names change. A new modified and active version of the transformation is created. This can be verified in RSTRAN table.
Question is do you find this behaviour too and has it resulted in any problems?
2. Theres an additional coloumn, saying BI 7.0 in the 'conversion of logical systems' section. If you select tools and conversion of logical system names (in RSA1), you will find this additional coloumn. Has anyone checked this box? And if so, how has it impacted your transports. We wanted to check this box and run the transports, but we ran into config/authorization issues.
Would appreciate if you find something to share on this. I will check on SDN too. We are on SP 11.

yes we observed this behaviour too, but never had any problems.

No we dont have that setting up. So not sure how it would impact the transports. But the 7.0 check box is only relevant for 7.0 datasources, DTP and Transformations. So I think any other object that doesnt fall into this category should cause a problem.

Transformation Transports inactive

Hi All,
I am transporting some Transformations using Transport Connection and selecting only necessary objects. The first import fails with RC 8 and the following:
Unknown error from the Transport Organizer
Error while activating transformation
Error when activating Transformation 0FI5WAZTHGV66TREPIY6ABUQIKF8028S
When I re-import the request, it completes with a RC 0, but the Transformations are left with 'Active version does not exist' ie inactive.
We've applied SP8.
Any help greatly appreciated.

We also faced the same problem. Delete the Inactive transformation in the target system and move the new request(only transformation )again.

BPC 7.5 NW SP5 - Question regarding Transformation file for exporting data

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to export data from a BPC application to App.server/UJFS. There are currently 13 dimensions in the application. The user requires the output file to contain only three dimensions followed by the amount(signdata), namely
| COSTCENTER | ACCOUNT | TIME | AMOUNT |.
How do i handle the same in transformation file?
Currently i am using the following transformation file but i am having issues validating it.

The 'Export' data package which comes as part of a support pack enhancement does not support using Transformation/Conversion files to modify data prior to transport.
Please refer to section 3 (Limitations) in the below how to guide.

Hence your only option is to manually massage data in the spreadsheet after exporting.

Transformation transport problems when containing routine

Hi Gurus,
I'm facing a transport problem.
When i want to transport a transformation that contains routines, the transport says syntax error in routine. The routine in DEV is tested and correct. I realised, that the transport does not bring the routines. After transport, i open the transformation, and the routines contain the default routine: RESULT = .
I found some answers in some posts, but no exact answer how can i get rid of this transport problem. I don't like copy - paste into prod system with manually editing....
If you have any idea, please let me know.

Thanks for your help, it worked now, but i think it should work without owerwrite originals. Sometimes it seems that the routines is not included in the transport request, when i modify a routine in a transformation.
But thanks anyway, problem solved now

Yes.........In the AWB transport connection u can transport all the BW objects.............U can go here through RSA1 ..........or u can also use the tcode : RSOR.......Here u can select Object types from the left side window..........In the right side click on the select objects..............then collect manuaaly all the objects which u want to transfer............

Using object collectors, you can create a set of objects. For example:
·        By loading the objects from files
·        From object lists of programs such as Where-Used List, Coverage Analyzer, or Runtime Analysis

Sometimes it is useful...........and also required to make changes in Production Box........... mainly in day to day operations......... such as Activating Objects , fixing data loads,Changing Starting time of a process chain,new quiries to be created.........

Question to Datasource transport

I repulicate one datasource from R/3 to Production BI system using 3.5 version. However I used this datasource as 7.0 version, also created transformation based on the datasource in BI development system. Quesiton is if I transport request from BI development to BI production system, does this datasource with 3.5 verison will be changed automatically to 7.0 version? Are there any risk on it. Thanks!

Once u migrated Datasource to 7.0 in Dev, after transport it will appear as 7.0 datasource.. No need to migrate there in Production...
in prod system, after replication datasource will have the inactive status..
Now U have to transport same datasource from BI DEV to BI PRD... And this will overwrite the replicated inactive datasource

Transformation transports throwing 12

Hi Folks,
We are on Netweaver 2004s.
We are trying to transport DSOs and related transformations. They fail and return the error code 12.
We are on SP 9. we are investigating if its a normal BW transport error or if it has to do something with the SP. Anyone faced anything similar?

Solution Manager - ChaRM question - Scheduling periodic transports

Hi
We have a requirement to schedule transports to QAS at every 15 minutes. In the schedule manager, I don't see the option for specifying the time in hours or minutes. The minimum is a day. We tried to schedule the job through SM36 with program, /TMWFLOW/SCMA_TRORDER_IMPORT. It's just running,but not importing the transports. Any guidance is appreciated

I made a mistake on my end, and I thought it is fixed but it isn't.
What I am trying to transport Datasource to QA. It did went successfully but somehow it didn't activate on the QA. It is showing modified in QA. I am trying to make it active version. I did tried to replicated but no success on it. Any idea on how to make it work or what step I need to do?

A question for transformation/conversion file

Hi Guru:
I load data from a file for a dimension.
For one member, I want to set the value to blank if the source value is equal to "1000".
How to write the conversion/tranformation file to achieve this?

Hi,
What Nilanjan said is correct. You cannot have any member as blank in BPC.
I can suggest you a workaround, have a member BLANK in your dimension with no description and maintain the conversion file to map the source value 1000 to this member.
So when you report on this, end user is going to see only the description(if you hide the key values) which is going to be empty without any value for it. So they have the feel of no ID is assigned to it.

Transport Error when including Transformations with Formulas

I am attempting to transport a transformation that includes formulas. I am getting an ASSERTION_FAILED short dump and my transport stops with an Error Code = 12. Transformations without formulas or with routines seem to go ok.
Here is a piece of the short dump:
Information on where terminated
    Termination occurred in the ABAP program "CL_RSTRAN_RSFO================CP" -
     in "COPY_ON_DATABASE".
    The main program was "RDDEXECU ".
    In the source code you have the termination point in line 51
    of the (Include) program "CL_RSTRAN_RSFO================CM01U".
    The program "CL_RSTRAN_RSFO================CP" was started as a background job.
    Job Name....... "RDDEXECL"
    Job Initiator.. "DDIC"
    Job Number..... 15091300
We are currently on NW2004s SP10. I cannot seem to find any OSS notes that are applicable? Anyone have any help?

We had to log an OSS Message with SAP to get this fixed. Somewhere in the development of the transformation, the rules with the formula got corrupted, even though it did not appear to be corrupted from the front-end.
Here is the text from the OSS Message:
The problem is that the yuo defined 2 formulas for this
transformation but in table RSTRANSTEPROUT there are 3 active
entries. RULEID 4 is wrong, because this ruleid
is not avialable in table RSTRANFIELD and RSTRANRULE. To delete
an inconsistent ruleid you can use the procedure which is
described in note 983036.
Once we cleaned this up, the transformation transported successfully.

Issue transporting data sources in BI 7.0

Hello guyz
This question is regarding transporting data sources for BI 7.0.
1. First we transport master data sources from ECC Dev to ECC QA.
2. In BI 3.x version, we would need to first replicate these data sources form ECC QA to BI QA.
3. Then we would release our BI transports, which had the transfer and update rules.
4. Do we need to do the same thing in BI 7.0?
5. My understanding is, we do step 1. But then we skip step 2 and just move the data source along with the transformations form BI Dev to BI QA.
6. Please not that we are doing a new implementation, so we are also migrating each and every datasource to its 7.0 version.
7. I just need the step by step method of transporting, (if needed replication and migrations steps) from DEV to QA in the new BI 7.0 world.

First you need to transport master data and then transactional data sources.
After transporting go to the target system and than replicate it.

If we deleted the DTP in the process chain first, then reimport the transformation, the transport will be succesful. But that is not really the solution, isn't it? What is here the phenomenon? Do we need some setting else or is there any SAP notes for this?

sorry that I may not be clear in my explaination. The Scenario is below:
- we create a transformation in C
- transport it to Q and create there DTP and process chain. It works well for a long time.
- then change something in transformation in C due to an enhancement
- try to transport transformation to Q, but it failed. Transformation inactive. DTP inactive.
- try again by deletion DTP in PC (in Q)
- reimport transformation again --> that works. Transformation transported and active in Q. But DTP lost and we have to re-create it in PC.
Question: is there any method to avoid the step of DTP-deletion ? Thank you!

Add fields in transformations in BI 7 (best practice)?

Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding transformation of data in BI 7.0.
Task:
Add new fields in a second level DSO, based on some manipulation of first level DSO data. In 3.5 we would have used a start routine to manipulate and append the new fields to the structure.
Possible solutions:
1) Add the new fields to first level DSO as well (empty)
- Pro: Simple, easy to understand
- Con: Disc space consuming, performance degrading when writing to first level DSO
2) Use routines in the field mapping
- Pro: Simple
- Con: Hard to performance optimize (we could of course fill an internal table in the start routine and then read from this to get some performance optimization, but the solution would be more complex).
3) Update the fields in the End routine
- Pro: Simple, easy to understand, can be performance optimized
- Con: We need to ensure that the data we need also exists (i.e. if we have one field in DSO 1 that we only use to calculate a field in DSO 2, this would also have to be mapped to DSO 2 in order to exist in the routine).
Does anybody know what is best practice is? Or do you have any experience regarding what you see as the best solution?

I like the 3rd option and have used this many many times. In answer to your question:-

Moving transport from Lower ERP Version to Higher ERP Version?

I got a quick question regrads to Transporting object frpm ERP 6.0 SP 13 and ERP Ehp 4.0 SP 3.
Currently, We went Go-live with ERP 6.0 with SP13, as part of Release 1 Landsape.
ECD ---> ECQ --> ECP
For release 2, which is starting in few months, we are planning to Build a Project Landscape seprate from Support landsacpe.
ECD --> ECQ
| -
> ECP
E2D --> E2Q
2 = Release 2 SID name
Our Support landscape will be on ERP 6.0 with SP 13
and Project landscape we wanted upgrade to ERP 6.0 ehp 4.0 with SP 03. To keep the landscape consistent, whatever work we do on ECD (R1 lanscape), we would like to import to R2 E2D as well, so when we Go-Live with R2 implementation, then our DEV and QA systems will be consitent.
My Question would, can I move/transport object from R1 (lower ERP version) to R2 (higher ERP version)?
My answer is BIG-NO, since version and objects are differenent, all transport will fail.
I want to hear what you Experts say about this?

Hi,
As per your query it can be moved but you will face some issue in this, there are two type of trandport 1. workbench 2. customizing. If you want to move customizing then your abaper will check this will be transport, but workbench will have some issue due to variotion of verion. But you transport this in your new dev server and do the configuration again in new dev serve then test in your qac. The job is very tipical but its posible.
