Question re standby clock N95

Hi,
I've just got an N95. With my SE K800 when it was in clock 'screensaver' mode you could press the volume keys on the side to cause the back light on the screen to illuminate so you could see the clock-pressing other keys would take you to the main screen. Doesn't seem to work this way on the N95-it's retarded-when I wake up in the night etc I just want the little status screen saver to be illuminated so I can read the time etc.
Any ideas-anyone else understand what I'm on about?!
Cheers.

I know that dude, I was wondering if there is anyway to have it so that a single key press (one of the side buttons would be perfect for this) will simply illuminate the standby screen for a few seconds without having to open the phone, use multiple key presses to unlock the phone and without sending it into full on lights-alive-mode. Anyone who has used the SE phones will hopefully understand what I mean.
Just another thing I'll have to get used to, like not having a stopwatch or countdown timer as standard....
the stopwatch countdown is a problem i agree there
BUT there is a work round for the stopwatch

download and install sports tracker from Nokia
you will find it has a great big stopwatch to time events but you can time any thing with it

  • Standby clock N86 for other phones

Anyone has the standby clock file of the N86 (dot matrix clock) so can put in another nokia phone?

Oh well, still no update for my product code; I read somewhere that the new code doesn't fix this issue anyway.
The more I think about it the more I am suprised at Nokia lack of support in fixing this. I mean since I don't wear a watch I guess it's more important to me that most other people, but come on; I've got a device worh hundreds of pounds/euros/dollars but it doesn't tell the correct time - such a basic feature! Other companies must be laughing so hard; Nokia's flagship business phones doesn't even display the correct time - how embarrassing!

  • Question regarding standby and cables...

I just got FIOS yesterday and so far (one day lol ) I love it.  I love the speed of my internet.  I was paying for BOOST and in the beginning I was getting 3.5mb daily but over the last 4 months that has become 500kb and I had had enough.
On to my problem.  I have the new Motorola MRDVR HD in the livingroom and the 7100 p2 STB in the bedroom.  Last night watching a movie in the livingroom (HD) it failed, I restarted and it played, failed again and restarted then all seemed fine but in the bedroom I have a bigger problem.
I understand the 7100p2 does standby and thats fine but I haven't bought a new TV yet so I am using an Epson projector with COMPOSITE cables.  I suspect the standby and composite cables are not playing nice but while watching anything 20-30 min in the STB just goes off...and the only way to get it back on is to pull the plug on the STB.
I have tried every other iteration of menu/on/off/anything but once it goes into standby ( I guess it is anyway although I was watching something) It will not come back on.  Sometimes it tries...black screen for a few then back to the EPson start screen and from there the only way is to pull the STB plug.
If it's a composite cable/projector problem Ill get another TV (the tech is SOOOO old I figured it would work np) but if there is some sort of interaction between the STB and TV that this cannot handle... I have other ways to hook it up but none will get me sound right now, s-video/vga to DVi to HDMI, but none of those will do sound (today anyway).
I have searched all over the webs and cannot find even mention of someone trying to use these old old old cables with a newer STB... help...:-)
EDIT: The motorola starter guide does show composite and s-video but no mention of standby.

Actually the standby is just when you power the cable box off, its not really off, it is in standby waiting incase there is an update. All the Verizon STB's do this.
Component cables have no communication between STB and TV. Only the HDMI cable has any 2 way communication, so there should be no compatibility issue.
If the STB is powering off after 20-30 minutes and you cannot power it back on without a reboot, then I would guess that you have one of two issues (that I can think of anyway).
It could be that the STB is overheating. Its designed to power down when it gets too hot and stay off until it cools down. Is the STB out in the open? Does it have anything on it, like a towel or another electronic device? Is it inside an entertainment center that has an enclosed back or front?  If so, it may just be getting hot and you may need to move it out into the open or move whatever is on it.
If its not overheating then it may be just a lemon of a stb, I'd contact Verizon and ask them to swap it out for you.

  • Question about Standby modes (S1 or S3)

    Hi all,
Can somebody explain what S1/POS and S3/STR standby modes are? my system is set at S1/POS and when I press standby everything shuts off except for my case fans and power supply fan.
If i set it to S3 will that turn off everything like I want it?
Also, what is APIC mode ? should i enable it?
    Thanks

Well My Bad then , And Thank You For the Heads up Maesus .... The only thing that I was trying to Suggest, is to Stay Away from Choosing the "Stand-By" Mode, that Pops Up When you Initiate a Winows Shut-Down, I say this Because a Number of us Using Higher Performance Memory, along with a Slightly Overclocked FSB, Will Result in the PC Going into an Infinate On-Off Loop, Until you Reset the C-MOSS, I'm Sure those of who this has happened to can Attest that this is one of the Scariest things to Happen to you (As far as the PC is Concerned) As you have NO Control (Even if you hit the Power Button ..On-off-on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off , And this is all it does until you Clear the C-MOS , And I am Sure that this is NOT to Good For either the CPU or the PSU ...............Sean REILLY875

  • Question for *SIM FREE* N95 owners.

    Hi.
If you have bought a generic SIM free version of the N95 with no network branding please post the colour of your handset and your product code (underneath IMEI on label underneath battery, also listed on the label on your nokia box)
I am trying to compile a list of the different product codes.
    cheers

Sent the Orange back as it did not do VOIP which they assured me it would DOH
Now got a Sim Free unbranded not locked Light Graphite N95
(silver to me and you) Still on Orange with same contract just sim free so it can do VOIP
What is the product Code 0548364 its not the generic Euro 1 and the software update was very late compared to some sim frees
The box was unbranded as is the phone with no branded software i can see just one small code on the box starting cpw I guess is Carphone warehouse UK SO I would guess it could be the UK sim free rather than the European sim free?
What is the O2 software so if I can see if its part of that
But after the update to 6.11 there is still no branding
I chose it for the colour dont like the plum or sand
any ideas product Code 0548364 and why the update is so far behind the others?

  • A question regarding memory clock on GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC

Hi, I just installed the video card and Afterburner shows the memory clock to be 2048 mhz. The specifications list memory clock at 4276 mhz, why is the card underclocked according to Afterburner? Also, the memory clock slider only goes up to 2665 mhz. What's going on?

You have to double those numbers to get the effective clock.
i.e. 2665 X 2 = 5330 if you were to try and use that, which I would advise against.

  • N95 powersaver standby screen not working?

    Hello,
When i leave my phone on lock and it goes to the standby clock when the backlight turns off it completly goes. I had a broken screen before hand but it was still doing this and have just replaced it with a brand new one and still their isn't any powersaver clock.
Any ideas?? I've tried updating the firmware but nothing is working.
IS their any settings for the brightness?

  • OEM and Standby Database

I have not tried but I believe OEM does not automate creation of standby database be it physical or logical. Does it ?

I m on 10.2.0.4 , Solaris os. I saw lot of forum questions on standby databse creation where folks have run into some errors while creating the standby db. No body mentioned that they are getting into errors while creating standby db through OEM or any other kind of automation from Oracle. It seems that all of them were trying to create the standby db manually by ollowing the procedure that Oracle recommends.
Also, is data guard free ? Can I have a standby database without dataguard ? From the procedure, it looks like all you have to do is
creata a log archive destination of type service on the primary so that log can be shipped on the other side. Where does data guard comes in picture?
I am sorry if I sound dumb here but I am new to standby database and stuff like that.

  • Best way of deleting archive logs on standby when backup taken on primary

    Hello,
I have a 11gr2 dataguard configuration without the broker.
main problem in my particular situation arises from my FRA size on primary much more than on standby (90Gb vs 30Gb) and in some situations I'm constrained with FRA space on standby.... I'm going to align the FRAs but in the mean time....
can anyone confirm that if I have configuration as in subject with maximum performance mode and I'm not using the broker I should consider a sort of "external" way for archive log deletion on the physical standby?
In fact I'm setting on primary
    - retention policy = redundancy 1
    - archivelog deletion = applied on standby (without using any "backed up...." option)
Considering the standby it seems from docs that:
    - retention policy always wins over deletion policy (so no archive eligible for deletion is deleted if retention is not satisfied)
    - I can set on standby archivelog deletion = applied on standby (without using any "backed up...." option)
But it is not clear to me the effect of this config in case this is a standby itself and without any other cascade standby databases
The manual says this has to be met:
    1) The archived redo log files have been applied to the required standby databases.
---> what does this mean in case the db is a standby.. met or not met as I have no other cascade standby dependant on this one?
    2) The logs are not needed by the BACKED UP ... TIMES TO DEVICE TYPE deletion policy. If the BACKED UP policy is not set, then this condition is always met.
    ---> I should be ok
So the last question for standby is
    - what to set retention policy to?
I have not understood if I set it to "NONE", this means no retention at all or retention for ever....
sometimes I read that there is no policy; in other examples that files will be retained forever (because no file considered as obsolete).... or at least so I understood...
I would like to have a sort of policy on standby where the archive logs can be deleted as soon as they are applied during the continuous media recovery phase...
It seems I can't find a self contained set of configurations across the dataguard....
    Thanks in advance.
    Gianluca

I agree with you.... It is a temporary contingency....
I already stressed the fact that sizes between sites must be quite identical...
we are going towards a production dataguard, migrating from a windows config (without it) to a Linux based config....
but this contingency made me think about these considerations regarding policies and automatic dataguard operations
I also stressed on equal size grow capability for both sites file systems, also for data tablespaces, so that for example in case of high fragmentation we have to avoid a limit situation where
    1) a file system full for DR datafiles causes abend of automatic media recovery
    2) this generates FRA growth in DR because archive logs are shipped but not applied any more
    3) FRA goes 100% in DR and primary cannot ship any more
    4) archive logs cannot be automatically deleted on primary because not already shipped
    5) FRA full on primary and DB hangs....
    Thanks anyway for input

  • DAQ Assistant: Clock Settings (Samples To Read, Rate) can affect signal readings?

    Dear all,
I'm totally new to Labview, and recently I get confused with the equipment I'm dealing with.
    Technical details:
    The Labview version is 7.1; computer operate system is Windows XP;
    The equipment has a NI PCI-6220 and a 68 Pin Connector Block to read signals from the equipment;
    There are 4 channels in DAQ Assistant (2 pressure reading, 2 temperature reading);
    For the first pressure reading, Signal Input Range from 4m to 20m Amps;
Clock Settings are Samples To Read = 5, Rate (Hz) = 20.
    Description of the problem:
I use Labvew to monitor and record pressure readings and temperature readings. The Labview configuration was set up by my advisor several years ago. Recently, I found the pressure reading vibrated a lot; for example, 5.01 to 5.05 bar within a second. In order to get a stable pressure reading, my advisor suggested me to change "Clock Settings" in DAQ Assistant from Samples To Read = 5, Rate (Hz) = 20, to Samples To Read = 250, Rate (Hz) = 1000. In this case, she believed that since we increase sample numbers and sampling rate, we could have more data, and thus have stable pressure readings.
At first I could have very stable pressure reading. The last digit (0.01) did not change within 20 seconds. However, somehow after a day the pressure reading became unstable and even worse than previous. (pressure reading vibrates from 5.01 to 5.30 within a second)
This is not the worst case. We found that when we set Clock Settings: Samples To Read = 5, Rate (Hz) = 20, the pressure reading is about 8 bar. However, when we set Clock Settings: Samples To Read = 250, Rate (Hz) = 1000, the pressure reading is about 5 bar. In this case, we even don't know which pressure reading is correct.
Labview records current, and transforms it into pressure reading. Thus my advisor tried to monitor the current reading by Labview, and she found the current reading changed when she changed the Clock Settings. (0.004 Amps (5 bar) when Samples To Read = 5, Rate (Hz) = 20; 0.005 Amps (8 bar) when Samples To Read = 250, Rate (Hz) = 1000)
Since we only change the sample numbers and sampling rate, the average readings should still be similar. However, the reading are not similar. That is what confuses me.
My questions are, if Clock Settings in DAQ Assistant could affect signal readings? If so, how it could affect the signal readings? What is the effect of "Samples To Read" and "Rate (Hz)"? How to determine these parameters to get the true pressure readings?
Thank you very much for your help. Hope to have some feedbacks from you.

A 6220 cannot read a current, it can only read a Voltage, so you'll probably have some (or should have) a resistor accros the voltage input. (normally 50 Ohm for a 0-20 mA signal).
My first step would be to measure this voltage with a multi-meter so you know what the actual voltage should be.
Then I would read that same voltage with MAX (measurement and automation explorer) to make sure you have the right value
Now about the changing of the voltage/current/pressure, how have you terminated the other signals? Have you provided a good earthing?
If you sample with a high frequency (1 kHz), perform an FFT on the acquired data, I can imagine a dominant 50 or 60 Hz (depends on where you live) in the signal that might cause your problem.

  • E71 Screensaver clock issue

I recently figured out how to get the standby clock and date up (by disabling the breathing light). However, it only displays the time in which the screensaver came on. The time is completely static from the moment the screensaver comes on. If I go back to my phone after an hour, the time hasn't moved from whatever time it was when it was activated, which is clearly useless.
Anyone experienced this or know how to actually get it to tell the correct time?
    Thanks

Yup, that is right because I had the same problem. Prior to upgrading to an E72, I updated my E71 to run the 400FW and that fixed the problem. Check to see if yours is update-able.

  • Nokia N95:Videos

I have downloaded 9 vids on my computer and I transfered them on my n95, 7 of them are under 20 MB and the other 2 are over 20 MB those over 20 MB are not playing on the phone but they are being supporting so I only hear the sound all the vids have the same during (4-5 mins) and the same quality (at least the 1 of the 2) so my question is: Does Nokia N95 not playing mp4 vids over 20MB?

File size is not the limitation, there are different types of MP4 file.
I would hazard a guess that the ones that work are encoded as something like MP4(H.264)/AVC or MPEG-4 which the N95 can play quite happily, the others probably MP4(VSP) which it can't. You probably just need to find a suitable video file converter for the ones that don't work.
