Hi I have a new mac desk top with mountain lion installed, however I am having problems using quick time, I get this message The document “Tutorial Like A Magic part 1.avi” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.
Could someone give me any advice please on how to use quick time and what is a codec.

My company is using SCEP to protect our environment with SCCM 2012 R2. We have schedule quick scans to run at 2am on Sundays, but when we look at any device collection and add the column "Endpoint Protection Last Quick Scan End Time", no time appears
even if there is time in the "Endpoint Protection Last Quick Scan Start Time". I have checked the SCEP logs on both the SCCM server and on client machines but no errors occurring, I can see the job start but it doesn't end. If I look at SCEP
on the client machine, the scan appears to be happening on schedule. Is this a known issue with times not appearing or is there something that can be fixed? It does not appear to be affecting the scans but makes monitoring our environment more difficult.

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

The Yosemite upgrade very often damages existing Photoshop installations. Thank Apple for that.
You need to uninstall and re-install Photoshop, then apply all the Photoshop upgrades from scratch.

IPhoto "forgets" to turn on Photostream from time to time

Hello everyone.
Has anyone experience this:
I don't launch iPhoto everyday, mostly during weekends I might so that all Photostream on my iMac, iPhone and iPad would get updated and I can quickly delete the photos in my iPhone camera roll.
Now here's the "interesting part":
When I launch iPhoto, sometimes it would pop straight into the Photostream page, asking me to turn on Photostream. I remember very clearly my Photostream has always been turn on.
So I would just turn on, and of course all the photos would be there.
Anyone else experience this?

Hello, just read through that discussion but doesn't seem to help in my case. My Photostream in iPhoto does work, and I have all the latest OSX and iPhoto versions, all up to date.
Just that from time to time there would be one time when I launch iPhoto and it will ask me to turn on Photostream, which I remember distinctively I always have it turn on.
So I just turn it (back) on, not really a big deal anyway. Then all my Photostream photos will be back

I have Firefox version 5.0.1 on MS windows XP. My problem is that Firefox open a website automatically at a new tab from time to time which is very annoying.
I have scanned my computer for viruses and malwares using lot of programs but this did not fix this annoying problem.

this will stop and remove netcut and the redirect problem.
I have tested this in vmware and I have emailed the guy who makes netcut and also posted this on cnet downloads.
no antivurs or malware program will pick it up i think it down to the activepacket.dll

Keyboard map is misconfigured time to time

I've my own shorcuts configuration. Because I change a lot the size of the brush when painting, I have defined "<" for decrease and "z" for increase the brush size.
I don´t know how, time to time, the "<" key is changed to "\", so I can´t decrease my brush.
Possibly I'm changing the keyboard characters map inadvertently .
Any clue?

I have a similar question. I have backed up my external hard drive through my computer, onto my TC. When I go into TM, it doesn't show the external hard drive unless it is connected to the computer. Can I access the info from the external hard drive that is on the TC if I don't have the hard drive plugged in? If so, how can I do that?

I've resetted it when this happens, with no luck.
I've restored it from back up, and the problem still persists.

I had that problem as well and the apple support suggested to turn off the LTE-mode to have a running system and try to exchange the micro-sim by my provider.
THAT was not an option!
BUT it seems to solve my problem in the following way after trying a lot of possibilties:
In the menue properties/help (don't know the exact english word, because I run my phone in german)
I switched on the nice feature 'flash LED' by incomming calls, msgs, and push infos.
Today the flash feature was responding to different push notes very slowly.
By switching this feature off the LTE-mode-tochscreen-not-responding-problem disappeared.
We tried this on a other iphone, not having the metioned problem, and switched the LED-flash:
the problem appeared. Switching the LED-flash off: problem disappeared!
It seems to be a bug that the LED will hint Calls and MSGs in combination with the LTE mode!
treated my phone very hard today to double check, but its still ok.
@Apple:
Please fix that issue in the next update.

To change your Apple ID, follow these steps:

In the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address section," click Edit.
Enter the email address you want to use, then click Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.

Maybe some other app. In SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems tab: remove all entries with the minus sign underneath. This will not uninstall anything, you have to start those apps by hand now. Restart.

No: Restart, put the items in the LoginItems back, one by one, restart after each entry, and you will find the "culprit"

I've just upgraded to Yosemite, but all goes wrong, BT, speed down, wallets stopped synronise from iCloud/Drive between mac an ios, so lost f...ing importand passwords AND my Mac's name is changing time by time, many times a day....
I set up in zac.local and the name is Zac, 10 minutes later in finder I see Zac (2) and Zac (3) !!!! What the ****!!! Who is 2, 3?
I checked zac.local isn't changed but there were Zac (2)... repair... then drop a file by airdrop to my macmini and it wrote Zac (2) send.... ???????
All my macs and IOS what we have in family went crazy after upgrade to Yosemite / IOS 8 (now 8.1)
I did SMC and PRAM reset, bit better now, but why change mac's name ???? Any idea? How to solve?

If you're running Mac OS X client, then launch System Preferences, select Sharing, and fill in the blank.
If you're running Mac OS X Server variant (and this is one of the Server forums), then changing the name of the server is rather different, and involves using the changeip command and quite possibly a trip through the DNS definitions for the host.

I don't think I can access the crash report? Excuse the ignorant questions I'm about to make am a relative tech novice.
Soo - as mentioned every time I open photoshop it crashes - it just says there's an error and the program will shut down and if there's a solution windows will notify me. Then nothing...
I've tried to look in photoshop files for the detailed crash report & the system event viewer but cannot find a file with those names. I've also looked in the windows files for files with those names but cannot find them either - so I don't know where to look.
Any guidance would be great.
