Quickly untag an accidentally confirmed face in 'Faces'?

So I'm going through and tagging hundreds of faces for my immediate family members in the 'Faces' section of the new Photos.app, and several times already I've accidentally confirmed a face only to realize immediately after hitting 'Add and Continue' that I accidentally confirmed an incorrect face.
There doesn't appear to be any 'Undo' command and the only apparent fix is to sift through hundreds of previously confirmed faces to find the mistakenly confirmed face, then manually untag it missing? While this might not sound like a big deal, I've got thousands of tagged faces for each person in my immediate family and each time I make a mistake means that I have to manually sift through thousands of photos for that person to find and fix the mistake
Is this right? Is there really not a quick 'Undo' of some sort that I'm missing here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

The on-line User Manual if full of good stuff .
To rename a person in an image
Select an image containing the face of a person you want to rename.
Click the Name button in the toolbar.
Select the face label for the person whose name you want to change, and enter a new name in the text field.
To delete a face label
Select an image containing a face label you want to remove.
Click the Name button in the toolbar.
Position the pointer over the person’s face, then click the Remove button at the top-left corner of the positioning box.

Why does iPhoto keep asking me to confirm faces after they are already confirmed?
Once it searches for photos containing (insert name) and says "(insert name) maybe found in 1,750 photos". I click to confirm the said person and it highlights the photos already found in that persons "folder", which already contains 662 photos AND it does not show any of the unconfirmed photos. However, it told me that it found 1,750 photos....where are the missing unconfirmed pictures for me to tag? I have already rebuilt my thumbnails (which already took 3 days to do as I have MANY photos).

You are running Firefox 34, the most recent version is 35.0.1. If you are having trouble updating, please try downloading the most recent version from www.getfirefox.com and installing it over your existing version. It will save your information but update Firefox to the newest version.

• Batch confirm Faces-- possible?

I'm finding "Faces" to be potentially very useful, but frustrating to implement because of the apparent necessity to click "Confirm" again and again with all of the instances of "Johnny Jones may also be in the photos below" where, yes, Johnny is the one pictured for the first 357 pictures, but then isn't consistently in many of those that follow.
It would be useful to at the least be able to select an entire row and say "Yes, this is Johnny" or "No, this isn't" ... I have no problem where a row is split doing them one-by-one, but this seems ideal for being able to do some selecting of a group of photos and then mass or batch processing the confirmation or denial.
Am I just missing something in front of my nose, or is this capability truly missing?

AS Kirby stated it is also documented in the manual.
• goto FACES corkboard
• select the FACES tab at bottom left (not photos)
• and click on the existing FACE you want to work on
• for this face, existing faces will come up and "these other faces"MAY" come up below this
1) Now click on 'confirm faces' at bottom of pane
2) use a marquee/selection/select/click or select with command() key those you want to confirm (or reject)
3) all faces go GREEN with confirm label
4) OR *hold the option key down* then then those you select will all go RED for reject.
5) or double click on each one to toggle CONFIRM (green) or REJECT (red) for each photo/face
6) when complete or as you like click on "Done" (bad English BTW) button on bottom corner RHS.
Also list will apear at bottom of this for other faces or UNNAMED faces.
AS Kirby stated if you cntl+click / RMB over one of these faces you have the option to state that the "face" is "*NOT A FACE*"
You just have to persevere with this as Aperture V3 seems to learn quite well about the faces.
FWIW I learned all this over the past few months organising 6900 photos from a wedding. Takes ages but is really worth it.
TIP: I have found if you go through and REJECT (red) the faces as NOT { a FACE of } xxxx then the Aperture will learn faster about a specific set of faces. Do this rather than SKIP or IGNORE the face.

• "Confirm Faces" is this possible? Possible feature suggestion

I find it incredibly odd that not only does Aperture want you to tell them which faces DO belong to a person as well as which faces DO NOT in the Confirm Faces window. I'm wondering if there's a way for me to simply select the faces that DO belong to that person and either:
1. Have a button that says "Mark all unselected faces as Not John Doe"
2. Aperture automatically assume if I didn't select some of the faces that I'm saying they're not a match
Anyone know if this is possible?

I saw this selection method in the overview video but my confirm faces window reacts so slowly to mouse clicks that it does not seem to allow this selection method. I wonder if aperture on 10.6 (snow leopard) is more responsive than on 10.5.8?

Hey nonnalg,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with AirPrint, specifically not being able to find the printer after a short amount of time. The following resource may provide a solution:
About AirPrint - Apple Support

For best results
Make sure your software is up to date. For iOS, verify that your device is using the latest version of iOS available and that the app you're printing from is up to date. For OS X, Use Software Update to update OS X and apps you've purchased from the Mac App Store.
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of an Apple AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule are not supported with AirPrint. Connect your AirPrint printer to your network using Wi-Fi, or connect it to a LAN port on your AirPort device using Ethernet.
Make sure that your AirPrint printer is connected to your network before attempting to print. Some AirPrint printers can take several minutes to join a network after being turned on.
If you're unable to print
Check these things if you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found."
Make sure your printer has paper, and enough ink or toner installed.
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
Make sure your printer has power and is turned on. Try turning your printer off and then back on again to see if it resolves your issue.
Check to see if your printer has any error lights or indicators displayed on the printer's control panel. Check the documentation that came with your printer to clear any errors displayed.
Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer. Check your printer's documentation or contact the printer vendor for more information. A firmware update may be available, even if you just bought your printer.

• Aperture 3 Faces recognition problem

Have a really funky problem that is consuming hours to days of time in Faces. Need serious help, or for Apple to recognize this as a bug.
When I select Faces, Confirm Faces for a person, it shows loads of faces completely not that persons face. So when looking for faces of Kelly what Faces did do, was show the confirms of numerous faces as Duncan, or Jeff etc - the correct names for those faces. So I thought 'Great! Faces will assign all these faces to the correct names, making this a very quick its either Kelly, OR someone else it recognizes, OR reject as not Kelly or anyone else!'
WRONG. :-( When I hit confirm, the faces that should have been assigned to different people all ended up under Kelly ! So is this a bug on functionality that SHOULD work the way I expect by correctly assigning the faces, or is there something else i should be doing to assign the faces correctly ?
Have library of 20,000+ photos, so this is taking forever after upgrading form iphoto 11 (wish I hadnt now, unless there is a simple fix).
Even better - after selecting a number of Faces correctly, can Faces re-run across imported photos to correctly assign the faces ?

Although I haven't encountered this problem, please read the following thread and you may reconsider the built-in Facebook syncing:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2625405&tstart=100
Fortunately, it's easy enough to export photos from Aperture to a folder and upload manually, but a half-baked implementation shouldn't even be shown as a option.

• A tip when using Faces

Here's a tip that I discovered, but could find nowhere in the discussions or Manual or any other source—
When you come to Confirm Faces for a name, you often see faces for people that you know, but they have been suggested for the name you are now looking at. Control-Click on the face for the other person and you get three choices—accept, reject, name—choose "name", and you get an empty naming box with a cursor. Just type in the name for that picture, and Enter, and that picture goes away and you can continue looking through all the suggested faces for the original name. A very quick way of giving names to suggested faces, without leaving the Confirm Faces window.

Hope that works for people but after so many hours of wasted time identifying faces, my Faces tip is:
Only work in Faces at the Project level, not the Library level.
Use "Confirm Faces" to confirm the faces that belong to the one you are working on reliably and ignore the other options and methods to identify the faces suggested as the changes do not seem to be permanent.

• Face database intermittently gets corrupted.

I've been using faces for a little over a week. I have 90 faces on the corkboard and about 15K pictures. At least three times now a name has simply disappeared from the corkboard, and the faces belonging to that name have been silently assigned to a different name.
You can imagine that this is pretty frustrating. I have spent hours and hours going through my library assigning and confirming faces, only to see that work undone by random corruption.
This software is not ready for prime time; and there are some programmers at apple who need to learn about something called "Test Driven Development".

Unclebob, I've had the same issues as you. Here are a couple of other threads referencing the same problem:

Please make sure that you report it as a bug to apple using the Provide Feedback option. The more people that report this to Apple the quicker it might be fixed. Well, hopefully. Maybe. Probably not, but it won't hurt!

• Faces: Sensitivity Setting and Rescan Suggestions and Feedback from others

I have a photo library of 20k plus. My biggest issue is iphoto not recognizing any faces or some faces in a picture. This is very frustrating when most of the pictures are high quality and easy to identify and given the fact that iphoto at times recognizes people that I can barely recognize it should identify the obvious and if not, let me help it so it will learn from my selection. The "add missing face" is not a learned selection for iphoto, which it should be.
I have so many photos that when I have to manually add a missing face, it is outright frustrating. I have quit many times only to come back to it when I have to download new pics. I almost hate this program.
There should be a sensitivity scan level (maybe level 1 be the least sensitive and obvious to 5 being the most sensitive. Similar to that in photoshop with the magic wand tool.)
There should be a rescan option that actually does something as well. If I have a picture of my family of 4, clear as day, and iphoto doesn't recognize a face, then I should be able to tell iphoto check again and find it or ask to adjust the sensitivity for the photo.
Also, manual add face should actually mean something in the coding. If I make a selection that this is a face, then iphoto should compute this for reference. This should be a self learning program as it says in the instructions. As it is now, it is not and it's crap.
Also, iphoto should group faces it suggests, therefore, confirming faces will go smoothly and quickly. Clicking each and/or clicking and dragging to highlight suggested faces is too time consuming and a pain.
Let's streamline this bad boy and give the user more control if iphoto needs help and can use our help to make the coding learn.

TD, first off, this is a discussion board to discuss apple products with other user and experts of the like. My post was a topic to discuss, whether it be to answer the topic directly to resolve or to offer opinions of the such that we all can use to brainstorm and make the product better. With the latter, if enough people put their thoughts together on the forum, we can in turn submit as you suggested to iphoto feedback. Is it better to have 1000 people submit their feedback to iphoto with all sorts of variances or is it better to have 1000 people submit their feedback based on a brainstorming session such as this forum whereas the conclusion is somewhat universal?
"What is Apple Discussions and how can it help me?
Apple Discussions is a user-to-user support forum where experts and other Apple product users get together to discuss Apple products." from Apple Discussions Terms of Use (http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa)
Besides the suggestion I made in the earlier post, what is the solution or what would you do to fix the issue I am having. It is still a real issue.

• Faces behaving strangely

When editing the faces of, say Allan, and going into the "Confirm faces" mode, all faces have a "click to confirm" text and all is fine. But then when I click someone who is not Allan, say I click Anne, the text reads "not Anne". Why? It should say "not Allan" because I'm editing Allans faces
Anyway if I click one more time on the face of Anne it reads "Ann", and I think all is fine. I exit out of Allan and back to all faces then back to editing Allan again and behold Anne has been added to the faces of Allan!?
I switched from iPhoto to Aperture because I felt that after the last iPhoto upgrade, Faces started to function very poorly. But it seems like Aperture has gotten the same "downgrade" of the Faces function.
Is anyone else experiencing this kind of trouble with faces?

Actually I had exactly the same problem the other day. In the end, I fixed it by deleting the Faces.db inside the Aperture Library, essentially removing all the faces forcing me to start al over naming faces. Absolutely not an elegant solution, so I wouldn't recommend it.
Personally I feel it's a bug. Did you sent feedback top Apple already?

• Limit, filter, or sort images in the Faces pool?

Hi. How can I limit, filter, or sort the images Aperture presents when "Confirm Faces" is clicked in Faces view of a named Face?
I would like to either:
. Limit the universe of presented images with unnamed faces to those from specific Projects; or
. Filter the images presented (by, for example, year, or Project Path, or anything else helpful); or
. Sort the images by some other criteria than Aperture's (presumably) "most alike" measurement.
Thanks!

• Faces merging again with 9.1.3?

Just updated to 9.1.3 and decided to work on Faces.
While working with one person, I noticed that other peoples faces were getting into the confirmed Faces. For example, there are 10 confirmed faces of Alice. I try to confirm 2 more, and then 2 previously confirmed images of Alice are replaced with 2 photos of Jenny. This was a know bug that stopped me from using Faces in iPhoto 8:

• Faces disappearing

Hello together,
using Aperture I stumbled upon a very serious issue - at least for me.
Coming from iPhoto I really appreciated the 'faces' feature. In Aperture faces that already have been named dissapear and I have to reassign the names to the faces again (and again and again).
At the moment I've got 53 faces on my corkboard and faces just suddenly disappear even with the 3.0.2 update.
I've tried several possible solutions:
• repair user permission (don't know the exact term in english aperture - I'm using the german version)
• database repair
• create new database
• starting with a fresh install
• updating to the newest version (3.0.2)
But nothing helped, the assignment of faces to names still disappears.
At the moment I've got 6848 pictures in the aperture library, all jpg's.
As a naming scheme I use: 'surname', 'first name' - for example 'Müller, Christian'.
Has anyone experienced a similiar problem and/or knows a solution?
If the feature isn't going to work I would have to switch back to iPhoto...
Thanks in advance
GeHoGo

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I have found the only reliable way of using Faces is to identify some different faces when working at the project level, not the entire library.
Then when you go into the Faces view, use the button to "Confirm" faces - only click on the photos to select those that do belong to the face you are working on. Remember only use the Confirm faces button which is in the lower left corner of the panel that is displaying your correctly identified face.
Don't use the other methods like letting Aperture suggest a face and asking you to click on a checkmark, etc. It will seem to work but you end up doing the same actions repeatedly and it won't remember the changes the next time you start Aperture.

• Aggregating table - how to solve this with ADF Faces

Hello.
I am trying to solve something that would typically be really simple. However, now i' using ADF faces which is new to me and i'm stuck.
I want to show a table of rows with aggregated numbers (department in example below) and then "open up" any row by clicking on it to display the numbers that make up the aggregate (the guys in the helpdesk department in the example below).
Something like this:
DEPARTMENT SALARIES
+Sales 1.234.567
+Warehouse 3.425.553
-Helpdesk 655.000
Joe 155.000
Jill 300.001
Burt 199.999
+Personnel 546.225
+Management 9.646.383
And to make things more complicated, some of the aggregate rows in my real life example don't have any underlying rows. They just have the total. Can anyone give me hint about how to do this with an ADF Faces-control? I need to show management this can be solved quick and simple with ADF Faces, so i can convince them that it is the way we should be working in the future.
Edited by: GoodCoffee on Jun 2, 2009 4:15 AM. Trying to indent the three rows under "Helpdesk"

Hi,
if you use ADF BC as the business Service then you can create a transient attribute (one that does not ave a database column ) and compute the total. Using JDeveloper 11g, you can use a Groovy expression. The below example calculates the Overall Salary paid by an department. The transient attribute is defined on the Department Entity Object
XML View
<Attribute
Name="SumSalary"
ColumnName="SUMSALARY"
SQLType="NUMERIC"
Type="java.lang.Long"
ColumnType="NUMBER"
IsQueriable="false"
IsPersistent="false">
<TransientExpression><![CDATA[Employees1.sum("Salary")]]></TransientExpression>
</Attribute>The Employees1.sum("Salary") string is the Groovy expression that you need to add for the attribute. You select the created transient attribute in the EO editor and press the pencil icon. Then you select "Expression" as the value type and add the string.
