QuickTime 7.2 Runtime Errors

I am receiving a Runtime error after closing QuickTime 7.2 with Windows XP Pro.
iTunes runs just fine.
Program installed at Administrator runs perfect, it's when I move to my user
account when this happens.
Any suggestions?
Thanks to all.

HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime\Recent Movies
Apparently this is the key that is causing the trouble. User1 can run quicktime all day with no problems. However if another user/admin logs in and launches Quicktime, the above keys gets different permissions. When User1 tries to close quicktime the error will appear.

This isn't a DirectDraw or video issue, already tried Safe mode and we're using ATI cards. It will only occur when a user closes Quicktime. Thanks for the suggestions.

You might want to try disabling DirectDraw. Or if you have an Nvidia card, try a different driver.

  • ITunes won't play/QuickTime RunTime error -- Total Recorder related ...

Hello -- I am having some iTunes issues. It will not play any MP3s in my library ... it will play CDs, but I get an error message when I try to rip them. And, very odd, QuickTime gives me this error:
"The application has requested the RunTime to terminiate it in an unusual way. Please contact ehe applications support team for more information."
I know this is likely based on my installing the nefarious "Total Recorder" (boo!) and I'm well-versed in the issues it has with iTunes and have tried the fixed proposed on apple.com. I have removed it and even scanned my registry to make sure there are no references; and re-installed my audio drivers.
    Any ideas?
Dell Inspiron 700m   Windows XP Pro

... it's hard in the poor places tonight ...
When I try to rip I get the cryptic "An unknown error occured (-223)."
okay. what antivirus and antispyware applications are you running at the moment?
i've seen one case of that one being caused by interference by an antispyware package:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=825155&#825155
(good lord ... and i now see Justin was getting the same "itunes won't play music" symptom too. i hadn't remembered that.)
perhaps first try switching your antispyware off (experimentally) prior to playing or ripping, to see if that helps. otherwise, let's try a reinstall with antispyware disabled (like Justin) to see if that helps matters.

  • M/S Visual C++ runtime error message when trying to start iTunes

I deleted the Yahoo toolbar from Internet Explorer via the add/remove programs function. Now whenever I try to start iTunes, I get a Windows error message stating
"Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes/iTunes.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information."
I tried restarting the computer- then reinstalled the latest version of iTunes, all to no avail. Still unable to start iTunes, same Windows error message. Help!
    Thanks in advance-

Do you have any iTunes plug-ins installed in
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins
Take them out of the folder and try iTunes again.
    Hi, MacMuse-
Thanks for replying. I checked, that folder is
blank/there are no plugins. Another thing- I
mentioned I had removed the Yahoo Toolbar- what I
didn't mention was that I installed the Google
toolbar in its place. I removed that and restarted
the computer once again, still no joy.
    Wes
I'm getting the same issue; no plugins installed.
I started having this problem about two weeks ago with iTunes 7.2, and tried each of:
    * Updating to 7.3: worked for several days, then back to same thing
    * Changing Quicktime settings to "safe mode" as described in the "unknown error" article
    * Uninstalling Google toolbar
    * Uninstalling Google desktop
    Still no luck.

  • HT1349 Everytime I try to open Itunes I get ab erroe message saying that " an application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly" This pop-up box has a heading of Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Libraryand declares a " runtime error"

Evertime I try to open Itines I get an error message for a " runtime error "  from Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library --- Help Please

I actually solved the issue myself. In my prior attempts, I was only un-installing iTunes from the Control Panel. This time I un-installed everything Apple: ITunes, QuickTime, and any software application that was from Apple.
Once I removed all of the Apple software and re-downloaded iTunes, everything worked perfectly.

  • Apple pls fix this - MS Visual C++ Runtime error after installing itune 9.1

Ever since I upgraded itune to the latest version 9.1, I kept getting the error messasge below when I start up the computer. Tried restoring system to a previous date, and uninstalling & installing itune a couple times to no avail. Any idea what's going on and how to fix this? I had to remove itune to be able to use my computer (ugh). The irony is that the itune upgrade was mainly to enable ipad. Now that I have my ipad I can't use itune.
    The error message reads:
'MS Visual C++ Runtime Error' - 'Runtime Error'
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the support team for further assistnace.

Some people have reported that Apple Software Update can cause this error, so you might try removing that and see if it helps. Removing that utility should not affect iTunes, though you won't get automatic updates (you can just download any new version of iTunes or QuickTime manually and install it). It would, however, be wise to make a backup of any purchased content or items that would otherwise be difficult to replace, just in case something goes wrong during the removal.

  • Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error in iTunes

The last few days I've tried to open iTunes and about 3-5 seconds after it opens I get an error report saying:
"Software Application has encountered a problem and needs to close."
    I click "Don't Send."
Immediatley afterward I get a error message saying:
    "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error!"
I click "OK" and iTunes closes automatically.
So I checked out my QuickTime and I get a error saying:
"We're unable to find iTunes on your computer."
a few seconds later I get the C++ error message again.
    hmm...any thoughts?

Its seems to be working now.
I reinstalled Quicktime and updated iTunes.

  • Runtime Error when opening videos.

I just got Premiere Elements and have played with a few videos. When I try to open some of my videos I get a runtime error and it shuts down. Can someone help me?

    ATR,
I edited one small group of videos and they are mvi.  a few days later I
tried to open a few more that were on my portable hard drive, and they are
MOV format. When I tried to open I would get the runtime error.
    1. What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer
    operating system is it running?
Premier Elements 12. Dell XPS Vista 64bit
    2. What are the properties of what you are placing on that Timeline? And,
what are you or the project settings as the project preset to match those
properties? I am looking for video and audio compression, frame size, frame
rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio. If you
are working with DV AVI, then do you have Type 1 or 2?
I am not familiar with all of that, this is my first time using this
    software.
    3. What is the description of your computer environment and its resources?
    I don't know.
    4. Then the usual drill....
    a. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
    with Premiere Elements?
    I don't know
    b. Are you running the program as Run As Administrator or from a User
    Account with Administrative Privileges?
As administrator as far as I know.
    c. Video card driver up to date? If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user
with a NVIDIA video card, then you may be part of the crowd with video card
drivers issues that need addressing by rolling the driver back rather than
assuring that you have the latest video card driver version. But, that is
ONLY for Premiere Elements 10 user with NVIDIA.
    d. Do you have any other version of Premiere Elements on your computer? If
so, is it working without issues?
No, I only have the old Photoshop Elements 9. MY photoshop element 12 works
    great.
It might be easier to if someone could call me and show me what and how to
    check what is wrong.
    Thank you so much

  • Why is Adobe Premiere Elements 11 producing a Runtime Error

The down load and install went fine. The opening screen comes up fine. I can click on Organizer and it opens up fine. When I try to open up Premiere and select a new project I get a Premiere Elements Debug Event "Premiere Elements has encountered an error" Src\Core|Preferences.cpp-338
After that I get a Runtime Error "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

    directX version 9.0

I left XP a long time ago, so the only advice I can give is to search at Microsoft to see if there is a newer C Runtime for XP
    http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US
    Also, search for
Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way

  • Runtime Error After Installing Quick Time 7.2 Without Itunes Option

First I could not open my Itunes b/c I had an application error. So I uninstalled Quick Time and reinstalled Quick Time 7.2 (w/o Itunes). Now I have a "Runtime Error: This Application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact applications support team for more information." I noticed somebody else had this message but I don't know how to uninstall itunes and quick time and try and start all over. Any thoughts??

Okay. let's first try making sure you've removed iTunes and QuickTime completely, as per the following document:
Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows
Then once that has been completed, let's try another QuickTime standalone install. (Download and save the QuickTime installer to your desktop. We'll run the install from there rather than online.)
Quicktime 7.2.0 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
Does that install go through okay? if so, do you still get the error message when you try launching QuickTime?

  • Itunes causes Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error at Vista Startup

I installed Itunes version 8.1.1 and Quicktime on my Toshiba laptop with Vista. The installation went in correctly and Itunes found my music library.

I have to do a system restore in safe mode to get Vista usuable again.
Has anyone seen this problem and can you help me find the culprit.
