Quicktime error 0

Hi,
I'm trying to export a video that I sent from FCP 6 to compressor and every time it says Fail, QuickTime error 0, I don't understand I've tried with different compression settings, DVD Best Quality 90 minutes, 120 minutes, Fastest encode 150, 120... all with the same result, Failed and when I look in the Batch Monitor it only says QuickTime Error 0.
Anybody knows what could be??
thanks
Javier

Hi,
did you send it directly from FCP timeline?
If so export the edited video as QT movie self-contained or reference movie and import that into Compressor.
That should solve the problem, which I believe is caused by some corrupted media sitting in FCP timeline and not Compressor.
Good luck,
G.

  • Hi.  Ever since I downloaded the last itunes and quicktime update (a week or so ago), I can't access any video podcasts or movies I have stored in itunes.  iTunes keeps crashing and telling me I have a quicktime error.  Do I uninstall quicktime? or?

Hi .  Ever since I downloaded the last itunes and quicktime update ( a week or so ago), I can't access any movies or video podcasts i have store in itunes on my pc (vista).  iTunes crashes and my error reports tell me it is a quicktime error.  Do i uninstall and reinstall quicktime, or completely uninstall itunes and reinstall it -- if so, what will i lose?  Help, please!

  • Quicktime error -2048 when trying to play.mov files.

I have been frustrated this weekend trying to find a solution to a problem that has only recently occurred accessing some digitised VCR tapes that had been archived on an external HDD. These are files that played back fine on my Quicksilver after I had recorded them, but now give a "Movie Not Available" message in Quicktime. However when opened in VLC I get a debug message box with the following information posted below. Any clues as to what might be the problem?
I recorded the files from my VCR using an ADVC-100 DA converter over firewire into BTV Pro which created .mov files (DV-PAL). When I try to open the files in BTV Pro, I get a message box "There was an error opening the movie. No Movie found. Error code 20,-2048" Did a search for this error and -2048 appears to be a Quicktime error, so am wondering if there is a problem with my installation of Quicktime. I have got all the usual suspects in stalled, Flip4Mac, Perian, VLC. Mpeg Streamclip but can't get the file to open. The external HDD is Mac formatted but I found some info about problems with missing resource forks in older .mov files causing problems if copied to NTFS HDD's.
Any ideas as to where to look next will be appreciated.

Well it used to work fine so I think so. When I try and run the installer you linked to I get a message saying that a later version is already installed- isn't it built into the latest QT releases? One thing I thought of- the original files I think were made on a mac so there were some resource fork files of 4K size. I deleted these as I kept trying to open them by mistake, but then after this trouble I dragged them back out the trash to the original location but it didn't fix the problem- could that have caused some sort of association problem?

  • In attempt to burn blu-ray, I get QuickTime error 0.  Takes hours to export a 7 minute movie from timeline, then get notice it fails.  What's going on here?

New problem just started 24 hours ago.  When I try to export from the time line to create a QuickTime file, a 7 minute movie on time line takes 3 hours to export and then the export fails, where as a few days ago, that export would take about 10 minutes at most.  I get the same failure notice when I try to share to blu-ray, DVD, or Vimeo.  Tried to use compressor, no such luck as compressor failed to make a .mov file.  I get QuickTime error 0 message about 5 minutes into trying to share to Blu-Ray now.   Does anyone know what is going on here?  I'm running latest update of Snow Leopard on an intel Mac Pro and the latest update to Final Cut Pro X.  I've also installed QT 7.6.6 to use in creating time lapse movie files.

Same problem here, too. Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 on OS 10.6.8. However, it is only doing it on ONE of my projects. A 4-second test project burned successfully.
I'm  actually going to use iDVD to burn copies for a few people, so I only need the movie file from FCPX.
Would someone please post best export settings for use on a DVD? In FCPX, the project is  in HD (1080p) with all media optimized to ProRes 442. I know it will have to be down-sampled to DVD resolution, but I've always been curious to know what settings will result produce the best possible quality in DVD resolution.
    Thank you!
    Bart

  • Quicktime error code : -3

My Toshiba Tecra S2 laptop running XP Pro SP2 went in to standby and froze there (common problem). Upon rebooting iTunes "has encountered an error and needs to close" every time I try to run it.
I have uninstalled, re-downloaded and upon attempting re-install I get "Quicktime error code : -3" and the install fails.
This is driving me crazy. Any ideas

I deleted the iTunes folder in MyDocuments/MyMusic (renaming iTunes.old instead of deleting will preserve files)and re-installed and everything appears to work.

  • Quicktime errors during install, uninstall, or run

Quicktime errors during install, uninstall, or run. No error code. It just says it encountered an error and must exit.

I located a previous response that satisfied my issue. Below is the process that allowed me to use quicktime.
The "fatal error" in this context has (recently) been indicating trouble with old, misplaced QuickTime componentry lurking about in your system.
(Whether or not the message is a symptom of that problem seems to depend on what version of old misplaced stuff is lurking and what version of QuickTime proper we're trying to install or uninstall ... but in recent times, there's been an uptick in fatal errors being caused by that.)
So let's try investigating that possibility first.
First we'll adjust some view settings on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in "My Computer" open Local Disk C: (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

First try exporting a self-contained movie from FCP, the using the resulting file in Compressor.  To do it, go to File->Export->QuickTime Movie (do NOT use QuickTime Conversion).  In the export window, check the self-contained option but do not "recompress all frames."
Once the export is finished, launch Compressor then use the self-contained file as the source.  If that fails, you may want to try using theis: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/compressorrepair/

  • Compressor 2 - Quicktime error 0 revealed

After upgrading to the latest version of QT, FCP5, DVDSP4, and Compressor 2 with all the latest fixes I could not compress a 1 hr 46 min video on my quad G5 without getting the dreaded quicktime 0 error message. I spent days trying to get around this and finally settled on getting the job done through DVDSP, (see my post "compressor 2 what works for me").
I finally decided to track down the problem by spliting my project in half to see which half was failing. Then I spilt that half in two and so on for hours until I found the problem video. Turns out I had a "spin 3D" transition between a slow motion clip at 50% and a clip at regular speed. I added 1 sec of regular speed to the slo mo clip so the transition would fall between to clips at regular speed and the problem was solved. My 1hr 46 min video compressed in 3hrs 30 min. (still not as quick as the 1 hr 10 min from DVDSP4 but thats another story).
Conclusion - "Quicktime error 0" seems to be Compressors way of saying "sorry this is too complex for me." I am sure there are other combinations of transitions, filters, etc. that will cause this problem as well so APPLE, IF YOU ARE READING THIS we need a fix.
I will try more expirements but complexity in the time line seems to be the cause of compressors failure due to quicktime error 0.

I am having the same issue. I have recently purchased quicktime pro and updated to lion, I dont know if that is that causes the failure but this *****! it's the 4rth time i try to compress a 15 minute file, it takes about 3 hours and when there is 10 minutes to go.... pooooof!!! game over!

  • Compressor 2.3 - Quicktime error:0

    HI All
This morning I wake up with this new thing.
Im using FCP 5.1.1 and a 15minutes DV Pal sequence, already converted in the past. This morning I've tried to re-encode the sequence using DVD 90 min. High quality and I've got this new message : Quicktime error:0
According to Apple , this erro coul appear just in HD sequences with less 1Gb ram. In my case, I've got 1.5Gb RAM and a 720x576 PAL DVcam format.
I've done just a small test. I've esported the sequence (using export/qt/) and compressor does his job! Any idea? What I could to re-export directly from FCp?Thanks in advance!

    G5 MPP 2Gb   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   Panasonic P2 Camera and Fcp 5.1.1 - 1tera Discs

I am going to attempt both of those options.   In the meantime, I made an H264 version of the file for Blu Ray using a Matrox setting.

  • Compressor Job Fail Quicktime Error -120

The program quits before it even starts compressing after I click "Submit"  There is no error message or any indication of why the attempt failed.  Except a grey message to the side that says QuickTime Error -120
I'm using the presets.  Trying to convert a QT movie (Current Settings) to a YouTube file.
    Still using Compressor 3.5.3
    OS 10.5.8
I trashed the prefs and started over, but the same error continues to occur.
It's odd, this is the first time it's happening.  I'm taking following the same steps I've always taken.

OK.. just now out of curiosity I went back into my prefs.
    Deleted 2 Quicktime P.Lists
    Deleted Compressor P.List again
And just for the heck of it deleted my Final Cut User Data and Final Cut P.List
Instead of putting the word YouTube in the file name for either name, I took that out.
Clicked Submit and renamed the file once.. then the second drop down asked me to rename and I named it a different name with no spaces.
    Now it's processing fine.
Not sure what I did, but something worked.

  • Quicktime error: -50

I have 4 minute movie I made in FCP. Just like I have hundreds of times before. I can export it using Quicktime conversion and dump it into iweb just fine. When I try to share it to my Gallery I get a "Share Error Quicktime Error: -50" message. What is going on????

I can export it using Quicktime conversion and dump it into iweb just fine. When I try to share it to my Gallery I get a "Share Error Quicktime Error: -50" message
Does the file play ok before you up load it?
If so, it's your upload app problem.
If not, what are the exact export settings?

  • Failed: QuickTime Error: -108

Everytime I try to use Compressor to create a file using the 'HD for Apple Devices (10 Mbps). it fails within seconds with an error message of 'Failed: QuickTime Error: -108' . I only get this on my MacPro 12 core. The Macbook doesn't have this issue. I guess the error lies within Quicktime itself. Any suggestions appreciated!

OK, Compressor should show up in the list when you click the Purchases button:
The official way to reinstall is to hold down the Option key while you click the Purchases button. I assume it looks to see if it's installed. If it isn't, then it says Install at the right instead of Installed. Again, this is assuming you've trashed the original program from the Applications folder. I can't remember if it's enough to put it in the trash, or if you have to actually empty the trash, or if it also works if you've copied the App file to an external disk and then disconnect that.
If yours is not working this way, or if Compressor is not even showing up, then I think one of two things is going on. #1 - is it possible that you have two different Apple IDs and you're signed in with the one that did not make the Compressor purchase? or #2 - there is a problem with your Apple Account and you're going to have to get help from tech support. If it's the correct account but it does not remember what you have purchased, then you need to get that straightened out.
I'm sorry that you're having these glitches, but this is the accepted technique for reinstalling - I've done it myself.

  • Quicktime Error -50 on every share intent

    Hi!
I'm having troubles when trying to export a movie from a Final Cut Pro X timeline. I always use Share/Apple Devices or Share/Send to Compressor. I always get the same error after a while: Quicktime error -50
    Does anyone have a clue?
    Thanks!
PS: I don't know if it can be a problem, but I have both installed in my iMac 27"

Ok, hafken, I exported with "Export Media" option (wich never existed in FCP before, it was "Export Quicktime Movie" before) and it worked, then I opened it with Compressor and it could export with Vimeo Setting.
Thanks everyone for your help, but now, my question is: is this happening just me? How do you think I can solve this so that I can export without all this detour?

  • Failed Quicktime Error -2045

FCP X and Compressor 4 will no longer generate a movie file when I submit it.  I cannot get a movie to generate from FCP X either.  Instead, I get an error after submitting that says Failed: QuickTime Error: -2045.
I have uninstall and reinstall FCP X, Compressor and Motion.  Until Saturday I was able to generate movies without a problem.
Does anyone know what this error means and how I can correct?

I found my answer for this.  Not sure if it will help everyone, but I was getting Failed with a zero code and with -2045 code.  I did the uninstall and reinstall of FCP X and Compressor to no avail.  But I also was running FX Factory from Noise Industries.  When I deleted it (have to use the Uninstall Button on their menu and not just drag it to trash bin) then my error went away. It seems that one of the filters it put in added an invalid plug in to Quicktime and that was causing the error.
The Apple help guy had me create a new user account and run the same routine there.  Since I had no error on the new user, the logic was that it was a plug in issue for my main account.  So once I uninstalled the FX Factory app and its plug ins, then I was back in business.  I am going to try to reinstall FX Factory later to see if I can get my Phyx filters back, but at least I am transcoding movie files again.

  • Compressor error - Failed:  Quicktime error 0

I'm sending my FCP sequence directly to Compressor and I'm getting this message after I submit:  "Failed:  Quicktime error 0".  It's a 34 minute sequence.  I'm using DVD Best Quality - 90 Minutes as my setting.  I've googled this error and I'm seeing some folks suggest that there may be a corrupt file in the FCP sequence.  Others say that it may be an insufficient RAM issue (not my issue).  My questions:
    -  Has anyone seen this before?  If so, how did you resolve?
    -  If this is due to a corrupt file, how would I go about finding that corrupt file?
Any help would be appreciated.  I'm up against a deadline about to get into panic mode.  thanks!

    Michael,
Try cutting your sequence into ten minute segments to narrow down the problem, if indeed it is a corrupt clip or file.
You may also want to post your sequence settings, also do you have any stills in your timeline, if you do are they in RGB color space and not CYMK

  • Compressor quicktime error -50

i have an fcp project i need to convert to mpeg 4 improved for fast cable streaming. after completing my upgrades of fcp 4.5 and compressor 1.2.1 and fixing the QMaster the file got to the batch monitor. after a second of processing it quit. history says failed: quicktime error-50. any ideas for a fix?

If I may just chime in here with my experience with QT error -50, this seems to be a bug, which I have reported to the FCP development team. There is also another error that compressors batch monitor also reports which is Quicktime error -6662.
These error seem to be quite prevalent on the Intel Mac Pros, but on my G5/quad these errors rarely occur. I have tested the same source files on both workstations, (Mac Pro and G5/quad) and the errors are just about exclusive to the intel's. Once in a blue moon I will get a quicktime error -50, preventing the encode to complete on the G5/quad.
The preliminary opinion of Apple support was that the errors may be related to writing to any drive other than the boot drive, but seems to be a guess at this point, rather than fact. My testing of this hypotheses seems to disprove this assumption, being that I used the boot drive in my test as the destination drive, for encodes.
Still waiting for Apple to address this problem.
