Quicktime not playing videos on the internet

I recently got the Quicktime update and its messed everything up. First I got an error about the QTCF.dll file. I googled it and found that if I take the QTCF file and move it to windows/system32. It will work. So I did that and it worked, quicktime would open and it can play videos. However, when I go to a site and try to play a video that used to work, it just opens a blank screen. Any fixes?

It was fixed after a restart.

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

  • Playing videos via the internet

Does anyone have any idea why I am not able to play videos on the internet? Can't play any on youtube, news web sites... any. Please help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Some websites that deploy video have not enabled the feature. Visit www.apple.com and try one of the video those to test whether Airplay is working as it should.
If not ensure your software on all devices is up to date, restart them all and try again, otherwise you might have a network issue.

  • After the last firefox updates I can not play videos in the browser. I have updated the plug-ins all to no avail

I have tried running the videos on the BBC website and they time out after 20 sec. with the message "The content doesn't seem to be working. Try again later" all plugins are up to date, and the cookies are not barred
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == after last update

Videos from all three sites play fine for me (except the ones from tfl.fr that are only available if you are in France), so something is not quite right with your system. However bear in mind that some of them take a while to load.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002 and 003). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
You should also install Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly, repair permissions and restart your Mac.

  • My ipad will not play videos after the last ios 7.0.3 update, help!?!

Will not play Netflix, my videos or other videos (network apps downloaded ABC, CW etc).
I tried to re-install clear my internet history. I also waited until it was full charged.
Not sure what to do, everything else is working perfect.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Can not view video over the Internet on WVC80N

I set up the web cam, set up the port forward etc so now I am able to:
       1. view/change web cam settings inside my home network.
       2. view video inside my home network.
       3. view/change web cam settings over the Internet.
But I am not able to view video over Internet. Every time I did so (using IE browser), after clicking the view video button, I got an error : There are too many user connections or the device is busy, please try again latter.
Anyone has a fix on this? I set up port forwarding on port 1024 (that's how I can chage settings over Internet).
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Linksys tech support but they could not find the reason.
    Thanks,
    Sam

Who is your ISP? How you are trying to access your Camera from the remote location? Along with Port 1024 you need to do port forwarding for port 80 on your router for the Cameras IP address. As WVC80N works on your HTTP Port.
To access your camera from the Remote location, you need to use http://wan ip:80.

  • Quicktime not playing videos online

so, i'm trying to watch a video online using quicktime, but everytime i try to watch it, i get a the quicktime Q with a question mark. I've updated to the new version and updated adobe flash player, but its still not working. Is there a problem with the plug in, which is enabled, or something else?

Is there a problem with the plug in, which is enabled, or something else?
The QT symbol with question mark is an indicator that the software could not "trap" a specific error and is indicating that the user must manually look into/solve the problem. This could be anything from a non-specific plug-in problem with unsupported or unrecognized content to a valid pointer to content than cannot be accessed to errors not properly trapped in the HTML script for that page.

  • Quicktime not playing video

I am on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. I have a number of videos downloaded from various cameras and an iTouch with .mov extensions. I downloaded Quicktime 10, and Quicktime 7 yesterday. When I open any of the videos in either Quicktime and click Play it doesn't seem to read more than the first frame. I opened "Show Clips" (in version 10) and the first frame is repeated over and over from start to finish. I opened the A/V controls (in version 7) and set the playback control to 1/2x with no change.
I know there is more to each clip because I can open and play them in iPhoto and iMovie. Our IT guy keeps telling me to just use Quicktime because "it's easier!"
So next he told me to download VLC but when I try to play any of the videos with that program I get a black screen for a few seconds that then closes down.
So can anyone tell me what I need to do to correct this? Thanks for any advice but please keep it simple!

I tried it but it didn't work

  • QuickTime not playing videos

I recorded videos on my iPhone 4s, uploaded them into iPhoto, then exported them to a folder. After exporting, I deleted them from my phone and from iPhone and now QuickTime isn't playing the video. How can I get the videos to play on QuickTime?

  • Quicktime not playing video or music......

I was having problems with Quicktime so I had to uninstall it, update Direct X, and reinstall it. It works now when i directly open up Quicktime but if a website has a song or video that plays with Quicktime, it wont play at all. Can you help me? The Quicktime version is 6.5.2

Because you're using QT 6.5.2 you can't view all QuickTime content. Quite a lot of pages are now using H.264 video and it can't be viewed using 6.5.2.
Try one of my pages to test your browser plug-in and QT version:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/California/index.html
The file is about 3MB's. If it plays correctly your browser and QT version are OK.
The plug-in settings can be found in the QT Control Panel (under MIME settings). You can also check your browser preferences for "helpers".

Sorry, Flash for Android is not yet compatible with Firefox for Android. We hope to work with Adobe to fix this in a future release.
You can play some YouTube videos by enabling YouTube's HTML5 beta. Only videos available in the WebM or Theora formats will play in Firefox for Android: http://youtube.com/html5

  • Quicktime not play video only Audio with Lion

I am trying to watch avi file through Quicktime the I only get audio and no video after Lion installed.
    I downloaded Perian again
    Whats the problem?

There seems to be an issue with the version of Quicktime X (10.1) in Lion and Perian version 1.2.3.
The are several options in terms of other media players (VLC, MPlayerX, RealPlayer [ugh…], and others…) that will handle FLV files with ease. Alternatively, you could run your video files through an encoder (HandBrake, MPEG Streamclip, SmartConverter, etc.) converting the files into something QuickTime naturally understands like an MP4 or MOV.
But, you were probably happy when everything just worked with the QuickTime / Perian dynamic duo and just want it the way it was. It seems the best way to make this happen, is to go back to using Perian 1.2.2, for the moment anyway.  Seems to do the trick for anyone with this problem, so…
    1. Remove Perian 1.2.3 from the system.
Quit all your apps, expecially QuickTime. Open System Preferences and click on Perian.  You're looking for the "Remove Perian" button; just click and if it asks, type your password. Next, back to the main System Preferences screen where you right-click(or control-click) on the Perian icon.  A menu pops up with the choice to remove the Preference Pane.  Click on it and Perian is officially uninstalled.
    2. Restart the computer
Probably overkill, but better than having to repeat the process because you didn't.
    3. Download and install Perian 1.2.2
    Get it here: http://perian.cachefly.net/Perian_1.2.2.dmg , or here:http://www.videohelp.com/download/Perian_1.2.2.dmg
Once its downloaded mount the disk image, but proceed with care.  Perian will likley try to upgrade itself right after you install it. Best thing to do: disconnect from the net for the install process. Then as usual double-click the "Perian.prefpane" file, choose who you'd like to install it for, and enter your password as needed. Finally, right before reconnecting your machine to the world, uncheck the "Automatically Update" box in the Perian preferences.
Try testing one of the FLVs in QuickTime or QuickLook and with a bit of luck, radio becomes TV.
Oh… and on the off chance it doesn't work and you want to watch some FLVs?  Use VLC (http://www.videolan.org), or convert them with HandBrake (http://handbrake.fr).
    Good luck!

  • QuickTime only plays videos when the program itself is started

    Hi there.
When I open a file in QuickTime and the program hasn't been started before, everything works like a charm. Do I close the video then, though, and try to open another one while the program itself is still running in the background, then it won't do anything. Only if I close QuickTime once again, I can open a new file with it.
The problem exists as of recently foremost and is getting quite annoying. I hope someone else got the same problem or at least an idea how to solve it.
    Greetings,
    Daniel

The problem exists as of recently foremost and is getting quite annoying. I hope someone else got the same problem or at least an idea how to solve it.
If using QT X, have you tried deleting any/all of the erroneously created individual QT X Player PLIST files or tried using the QT 7.6.3 Player to see if it has the same problem?
