Quicktime Pro doesn't hold audio levels when exporting (or "sharing").

I just upgraded to Quicktime Pro for one reason only: to add my music to an exsisiting video (that has it's own embedded dialog track) and posting to a webpage for review. Adding my music is easy. Setting the level of my music is easy. Saving and reopening with everything intact is easy. The problem is when exporting to another format. I've been choosing the preset called "Braodband Medium". It's the h.264 codec and AAC audio etc...
After the export, my music level has been "bumped up" to 100% - drowning out the dialog track. I've tried it on 3 different Macs with the same result. Does anyone else have this problem? It seems like a glaring problem that needs fixing.

Confirmed.
Export your original two track file to your required settings (Broadband Medium), add (scaled to selection) your second audio track, make the volume setting adjustments (Movie Properties window) and Save As.
QuickTime files can have up to 99 tracks.

  • Audio Levels when exporting are too low

so i tried searching the forums to find an answer, but couldn't really find one. Everytime i export a project from FCP (as WMV, Flash, Quicktime, whatever) the audio levels are extremely, extremely low...to the point that I have to bump them up to +12 and duplicate the audio layers several times. I have to imagine there's an easier way to doing this.. any ideas?
    thanks
    Paul

I didn't know you could export to WMV in Final Cut. Must be a new feature since the Apple/Microsoft merge....
As far as the audio, how are you monitoring it in FCP? You might have your speakers (or headphones) turned up really loud, so you think the levels are fine until you export. Also, look at the audio meter. You should judge the overall volume by that, not by your speakers. It's kind of like a waveform scope for audio.
Check on those two things and report back.
    jesse.
ps. just kidding on the merge. that'll start some rumors.

  • Audio levels when exporting a video.

    Hi,
I am not really a video person (hence the reason for this question) so please ignore my ignorance.  With new broadcast standards introduced as of the 1st Jan 2013 in Australia we are providing all our audio to video production houses with the correct level, however somewhere in their editing process the levels of these audio files are changing (usually lower) so they are then not compliant.  This seems to be happening mostly with adobe premiere.  What is the best adivce I can give them so that the audio we provide to them is the same from when they import into adobe to when the video is finalized,
    Thanks

The best advice is to tell them their work is coming back non-compliant and you can't have that.  Let them figure out why and solve it.  (That's is part of their job, after all.)

  • Volume level when exporting

    Hi guys,
I have a question about the volume level when exporting a project to .mp3.
I seems that the volume level when exported is a lot lower then the volume level on the rest of my music i iTunes. When trying to enhance the volume level with 3rd party software the sound quality becomes rubish. I tried everything that I could think of but nothing seems to work.
Is there anyway to adjust the volume level when exporting to take care of this problem?

  • Logic Pro 9: Playhead/Playback/Audio Levels/Logic Pro X Issue, PLEASE HELP!

When I press play within the project, the playhead doesn't move from left to right with the audio like it should. As well as within the mix window, the audio levels are not displayed. However, when I click and hold within the arrange window, everything is fine and working properly, but I'm not going to be holding down the mouse the whole time I'm working on a project.
Does anybody have any sort of advice for me at all?
Also, if I were to buy Logic Pro X, would all of my projects currently running in Logic Pro 9 be able to open up in Logic Pro X? I also have the Waves Mercury Bundle, Vangard and Antares Auto-Tune, would all of those work with Logic Pro X?

  • Macbook Pro doesn't recognize audio cd's after Yosemite upgrade

After completing the upgrade to Yosemite, my Macbook Pro doesn't recognize purchased audio cd's.  Help!!

    hi russeel!
when i first upgraded to 5.0.1.4 i panicked for a while looking for that tab (and the Burning one) ... the subtab that i find kind of strange is "Advanced-General". Generally Advanced? Not Tremendously Advanced?
    okay, we've gone up a

  • Quicktime 10 player stutters and skips but quicktime pro doesn't

I have a early 2011 17inch i7 mac book pro and just recently when I play 60fps footage from my 7D camera in quicktime 10, the clips stutter and skips, it does this intermittently and in different parts of the same clip. I can play the clip and it would stutter at one point and then when i play it back again it would play fine at that same part and then stutter at another part. But when i open the same footage in quicktime 7 (quicktime pro) it play with no issues every single time.
So I then tried the same footage on my 8 core MacPro, and played the clips in quicktime 10, all the footage plays with no problems everytime.
Is this a hard drive issue, a grafics card issue? I was at the apple store and seen a genuis and we tried to troubleshoot it but cold not figure out the issue. The apple rep said to replace the hardrive, but i want to make sure before I do. Does anyone have any suggestions.

    Thanks for the response.
I didn't realize those settings weren't controlling the same function, but I see that now... Fact is, I don't use QT all that much, and don't need much functionality from it, just to watch a few screen capture videos I create using Snapz Pro X.
Problem is, I can't control rewind/fast-forward if I can't see the controls, and QT doesn't default to showing the full display. Unfortunately, it seems the pref setting functionality I want apparently doesn't work for MY needs, so I'm stuck with having to manually select the 'fit to screen' setting EVERY TIME I open a new .mov video in QT. I see there's a keyboard short-cut to "fit to screen" (Apple Key/3), but the only thing better than needing to use a key combo EVERY time I open a movie is not needing to use one at all! Very Un-Maclike...
Wondering why QT Pro can't default to opening to the USER'S preference (whether fit to screen or full screen), so as not to have to change it EVERY TIME? This is a PRO app? How long has QT been released, a decade or two? Shouldn't it a mature app, at this point, with little nit-noids like this worked out?

  • Audio problems when exporting files from Premiere Pro CS5

I try to post in English.
I have audio problems in Premiere Pro CS5 when exporting a film.
I cut an interview. The sound seems not to be synchronized when exporting a file. It doesn´t matter what file format I export. On cutting points the sound is different to the sound I hear in premiere. In premiere the audio sounds very good but in exported file I hear cracks on cutting points.
When I reimport the audio file an put it in the timeline the synch point is correct but the interview differs about 2 frames to the original audio in premiere.
The material was filmed on Sony ex3. The files are XDCam HD. I have updated the production suite.
    Thanks for answers

Also, make sure that you check the box marked "Export Audio" if you want a MP4 extension.

  • Audio levels in exported video [Premiere Pro CS6]

The audio level is just what I want in the actual track. However, when I export the video the exported audio is too loud. So I went back and lowered the clip by 3dB...the volume level of exported video still didn't change--it sounds like people are shouting.
This is a new problem...is there a setting in the export dialog box I have accidentally changed?
    Thanks in advance.

I have found this to be a problem in CC at one of the places I work.
Export at 16bit perfect levels with a tone ident...bring it back it into the project and now -3db.
I tried exporting 32bit float and it comes out 3db higher!
Only method I have found is to export audio separately to a 32bit file then in a new final video sequence, replace the audio timeline with this file and adjust levels. The new export seems to come out at the right levels
May have something to do with a bug in the pan law but you can't adjust settings like in Audition.
Many bugs in this program causing me nightmares....
....Can't save track preset effects and have to copy complicated track EQ and compression settings by hand
....Track effect settings adjustments that revert as soon as you click away or hit play
....Very slow with crashes and freezes in sequences with nested sequences.
Leave plenty of time for your final exports...you will need it

  • Losing audio quality when exporting from premiere pro

I have now had this happen with two different videos. I play the video in premiere pro and the audio is fine. I export the video and lose most of the quality of the audio portion. One project is a music session when exported I only get the main vocal the drums aren't audible only a buzz sound is made where the kick drum would usually come in. On another project is a thank you video for a family member and the audio is distorted after being exported. The audio sounds fine inside of the session. Once exported the audio will still work fine on my computer and my iphone 5s as long as I'm wearing headphones, once I try to play the video through my iphone 5s speakers the audio quality is gone, making the noises as previously stated. My iphone can still play other tracks fine but videos and audio exported from Premiere Pro are distorted. Any advice on how I can export the video so I wont lose audio quality when playing the video on an iphone? I know it's not my iphone speakers, they play other songs just fine.

The source files as far as the audio goes are wav files that I've pulled off of my desktop. My sequence settings are 1920 by 1080 at 29.97 frames per second. The export settings are H.264 with the preset YouTube (HD 1080 29.97 FPS) and I've also tried HD video 1080p 29.97 FPS. If this isn't enough information please let me know I'm in the learning phase. Audio wise the quality is set to high and I'm exporting at 4800 kh and a bit rate of 190. I've also tried a bit rate of 320 and 264 I think it is and still had the same problems.  Let me know if I need to do screen shots I really want to figure this out.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Quicktime pro doesn't start installing

    Hi,
I don't know what to do...
I got the key for Quicktime pro yesterday, put it in "registration" at Quicktime and am still waiting for something to happen.
Isn't it supposed to start installing by itself or do I need to activate something else? When I click on "about Quicktime" the logo says "Quicktime Pro" but the name underneith "Quicktime 7.1.3"
Sorry, this might be too easy a question, but I am really new to this and helplessly lost...
Thanks a lot for your help!

  • Why my quicktime pro doesn't open .rtf files?

    Hi!
I am trying to create subtitles to video files using quicktime pro 7; I have a macbook pro with mac os x 10.6.8.  Every tutorial I find says to open text file in  quicktime, however my quicktime player pro doesn't do that. It says "file is not a movie file" and doesn't play it at all. How do I solve it, please?
    Cheers,
    Tomasz

QuickTime Player Pro can only import "plain text" (.txt) files.

  • Is it possible to retain multiple audio tracks when exporting?

While ripping my DVD collection, I've wanted to add a purchased RiffTrax (see www.riftrax.com) to the movie as another audio track. I've been successful, but it took the following steps:
    1. Encode the movie using Handbrake, open the resulting m4v file in Quicktime Pro
    2. Also in Quicktime Pro, open the Rifftrax aac file I created and add it as another audio track in the m4v
    3. Save the m4v as a Quicktime mov file
    4. Use Handbrake again to encode the mov file into an m4v file, including my added audio track
The reason I have to do step 4 is because if I were to export an m4v file directly from Quicktime Pro, it would compress all of the audio tracks into a single audio track. It would save a lot of time if Quicktime could export multiple audio tracks, at least when exporting to formats that can handle them. Does anyone know if this is possible?
BTW, if anyone wants more details into how I create the RiffTrax aac, just ask.
    - Jake

I've answered my own question, it was a lot easier than I thought. After the first encoding by Handbrake, there's really no difference between calling it a mov file or m4v file. I can change the file extension at will and there's no need to do an export that mashes the audio tracks. It's only AppleTV that needs to see the m4v file extension, Quicktime and iTunes doesn't seem to care one way or the other.
Thanks for letting me think out loud.

  • Random Audio Levels Change Exporting STP to Aiff Master

I've been mixing a feature film scene by scene (STP can't seem to handle a full feature mix at once due to memory problems) and generally pleased. However, I've noticed on two out of 10 scenes mixed so far, when I exported the aiff file as a master mix, audio levels on various clips (not all) drop considerably in the mixed file. Even clips in the same track lose audio level in places in the mix, seemingly randomly. It's very weird. Then, when I listen again in STP the levels have been mysteriously dropped as well. NOT the volume slider bar. It stays the same. No change in gain. All LOOKS as it was before exporting but the drops are there. It's as if the exporting process has done something to the STP timeline levels without visually changing anything. If I change the layout screens or play around with the submix locations, all returns to normal in STP. But after I tried exporting again, the same problem happens.
I couldn't find any other forum help with this. Some people suggested 'Render to Action' or 'Flatten Audible Actions' for a similar problem someone else posted, but those options are ghosted out on my multi-track project.
I tried deleting all .plist files related to audio, soundtrack and final cut studio (not easy to find, may have missed something). And this problem doesn't exist on some other scenes using the same process which worked fine.... so it's extremely odd.
I am using minimum filtration, just a limiter with -4.5db and 3db of gain on one track. All dialogue going to a submix and all fx to another. There are only 4 tracks of audio in the mix in question.
I 'analysed' and 'fixed' all phase issues in clips.  No change.
The original recordings are .wav files from a Zoom H4N set at 44.1 hz, but that's the same in all scenes, so not sure why only two would make a problem.  (the project itself is set to 48hz)
I'm fairly experienced in FCP Studio but getting a bit loony over this one, so hope you can offer some help. Please don't suggest using other software like Pro Tools for this mix. It has been working fine and I'm happy with 8 scenes. There must be something simple going on with the 2 odd ones.

I may have found a clue, but still don't know how to fix it. The file from FCP to STP was a stereo file with mic A on left and mic B on right (used a Zoom H4N). I split the file in STP into two mono files and separated the tracks. So actor A is on track 1 and Actor B on 2. All levels fine. I checkerboarded the tracks so there wasn't a lot of overlap. So far so good. Somehow, STP seems to be reading only Track 1 when it does the export; the level drop I'm hearing seems to be Actor B appearing on Actor A's lavalier, even though that data has (supposedly?) been chopped for the checkerboarding. Is this clear? IOW, even though the timeline shows clearly distinct and clearly audible separate mono tracks 1 and 2, the export mix isn't reading it that way and ignores my separation of stereo to 2 mono tracks, preferring to read from only one of the stereo tracks (or possibly only Track 1, but not throughout the track, only where the checkerboarding has occured). And then it somehow 'remembers' the export when it re-opens the project until I make almost any adjustment in STP and it magically returns to normal. Help!!
