R/3 security implementation using ASAP

Hi,
We have to implement the R/3 Security and Authorization part for a new project.
We have decided to use ASAP methodology.
Kindly help me decide what steps for Authorization n Role build would fall under the following ASAP steps:
1 Project Preparation
2 Business Blueprint
3 Realization
4 Final Preparation
5 Going Live
Also, can for some other methodology?
Thanks in advance.

Gautam,
You can download ASAP here:
https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000420636&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202
That will give you access to the whole roadmap & you will be able to see all the relevant security tasks & activities for each of the steps (they are flagged as security so easy to spot)
If your company is using ASAP then you will also be able to see it in the Solution Manager instance that they are running it from.

  • Reg, Documentation for a  New Implementation using ASAP  Methodology

    Hello,
Will you pl, help me in getting complete documentation (Std / Template)for all stages of ASAP methodology, for a new module. If you provide at least URL, it will be of great help.

    Hi Rao,
The ASAP Methodology has five phases:
    1. Project Preparation – project formally initiated and planning well under way.
    2. Business Blueprint – project team gathers requirements and conducts conceptual design of the solution.
    3. Realization – system solution is built and integration tested, end users trained
    4. Final Preparation – final check before cut over to new system solution
    5. Go Live & Support – solution confirmation, on-going support in place and project closing

  • ASAP Implementation using SOLMAN

    HI All,
Can you please guide me if we can implement sap using ASAP methodology in SOLMAN?
In other words can solman be a substitue for ASAP tools and download from CD?Or there is no substitute to ASAP software?
Also guide me if solman can become a part of ASAP methodology if entire ASAP methodology is not possible using SOLMAN and in what phase of ASAP nethodology implementation  SOLMAN comes in picture?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Solution Manager has the similar functionality as ASAP, though instead of CD based it is Server Based set of tools and it is modern, while ASAP is old.
You should look at SAP Methodologies at this link:
    https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000724820&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&
Also look at RUN SAP and notice you can use ASAP Roadmaps : https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001391212009E/Index.htm
Here is a link to run SAP Roadmaps: https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001391212009E/Index.htm
Additionally this issue has already been discussed in thread: Difference between Solution manager and ASAP

  • How to do Setup and Security implementation in ODI

    HI Friends,
I have few question regarding ODI installations.I am using
Oracle DB version is Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    ODI is ODI 11.1.1.5 version.
While installing can we go for
One Master repository for Dev and UAT, mainly because we have one physical server for UAT connecting to UAT DB and Dev DB. And a separate Master repository for Production?
We have 2 groups of users .One is developer and One is tester.
Tester donot have a permission to use or check the development codes. They have only the Run permission in operator.
How to do this security implementation in ODI while installing.
    Plz confirm me on this.
    Thanks,
    Lony

The way I did it is,
Created an Execution Mode work repository for the QA purpose and thus only Scenarios & Load Plans were deployed on this QA repo. This had its own Master Repo as well.
For dev the Dev mode work repo is created where all the interfaces, packages, procedures can be developed or modified as and when required.
Thus, the testers have access only to the QA environment.
Otherwise you can assign roles to the users after the installation in the security tab. Give the operator, connect role to the testers.

  • VPD (Row Level Security) Implementation at Middle Layer

    Hi All,
Is there any provison to implement Row Level Security at the Entity Object level?
We have a table where in some rows need to be displayed based on the user logged in.
We are aware of the VPD implementation using a function and adding a policy.
We are looking for implementing VPD at the Middle Tier.
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Raghu

    Raghu,
Assuming you are talking about ADF Entity Objects - yes. The standard way of doing this would be to over-ride prepareSession() in your Application Module to set whatever information you may need in the database session in order to identify your user and use that information in your VPD policy. If you Google about, you can find some good information, including [url http://blogs.oracle.com/jheadstart/2007/11/row_level_security_using_vpd_a.html]this (it's for JHeadstart, but the concept applies just fine).

  • OWB Security Model Using WBSecurityServiceImpl

    Hi,
I'm currently trying to implement the extended security model using the WBSecurityServiceImpl package in OWB v10.2.0.2.
However I'm having a few difficulties in creating user roles using this method as I do not have a complete list of OBJECT_TYPE_ID's and OPERATION_TYPE_ID's - does anyone know where I can get hold of these?
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Can we do a secure FTP using ABAP code ??
    Thanks
    John

    Hi John,
Sorry, I think the SAP function modules FTP_CONNECT, FTP_COMMAND und FTP_DISCONNECT are implemented according to RFC859 which is far behind secure connections. As SAP ftp goes throug SAP RFC destinations, this may be the spot where something has to be done to enable a secure connection.

How to configure Oracle 10g Advanced Security to use SSL concurrently with database User names and passwords
In Oracle Advanced Security Documentation it is mentioned that i can use SSL concurrently with DB user names and passwords. But when i configure the client certificate on the client my DB connection is getting authenticated using the certificate, which out passing user id or password.
We want to connect to Oracle DB over SSL channel so that the data packets are not in clear text. Also we want the user to make a connection using user id and password.

Orion has a EJB Tag Library that is free to distribute that
does all that stuff you just set some attributes.
Go to their site and look at their Tag Libraries.
Also look for other Tag Libraries Freely Available for EJB Access.

  • How to send Secured Mail using Java Mail?

I want to send mails with "Send Secure" option using Java Mail. Now mails are being sent using Java Mail connecting to smtp host.
    Appreciating your help.
    Thanks.

There are third party libraries to help with this. Bouncy Castle is very popular.
See the [JavaMail Third Party Products|http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/Third_Party.html] page.

  • Why can I not make a secure connection using safari?

why can I not make a secure connection using safari?

I have the exact same problem.  I just updated to 4.3.3 and now my inline controls on my earphones don't work.  The earphones work, but the controls don't.  It doesn't even recognize that there is a mic attached.  Even with the earphones in it still uses the built in mic. Why did my controls stop working?!
