R12: Long Term Liability accounting treatment

Dear all,
I would like to know how Long term liabilities (Loans, lease etc) are treated in Oracle.
How is the payments + inerest of the lease treated in Payables?
Can anyone explain the flow how to treate this from Fixed Asset(FA) --> Payables --> General Ledger --> Cash Management?
Thanks a lot

  • Short term portion of a long term loan to be posted to different G/L

    Hello,
You have entered a 10 year loan with yearly installments as an interest rate instrument (so NOT via loans module ! )
Long term loans are posted initially to G/L 174000000
However, during the lifetime of the loan, the portion that becomes due in less than one year should be reclassified to another G/L account, e.g. G/L  42400000.
How can such "reclassifiation" posting be customized and executed by a standard SAP transaction?
    Thx,
    Carl

    Hi Prasad,
Referring to your message if it is not possible in Money Market, is it possible in Loans Management.  The requirement is exactly same.  Here the requirement is mainly to meet the reporting requirements.
Out of the total long term loan, the portion which is filling due within a period of one year need to be identified as current liability which is payable within one year and it is not about reclassification or something of that nature.  This is the reason I was trying to ask you the postings, how it can happen?
The initial posting has gone to Long term liability GL account based on the account determination.  Out of the total loan borrowed, the portion of installments which are becoming due within one year need to be shown as current liabililty/current maturity.  Can you please post if this can be handled with standard functionality.
thanks in advance for the update.

  • [TRM-TM] Transfer from Long-term liab. to Short-term liab.

When I create a long-term loan using the transaction manager, it will be posted to the long-term liab. account, but after the remaining period of a loan become shorter than 1 year, I need to transfer it from the long-term liab. account to short-term liab.
I want to know if there is standard system function can fulfill this requirement, or someone could suggest me a solution.

    Hi,
Yes you can do this.  You can use capital reposting - grouping/splitting of loans function for acheiving this.
You can group this loan and transfer the remaining capital of this loan to another loan.  It is generally used for takeover of loan by a different partner, but in your case specify the same partner.
The Group Contract function allows you to create one contract from several contracts for accounting purposes or to transfer parts of several contracts to another contract. The outstanding capital (remaining debt) of one or more contracts is transferred either fully or in part to another contract. This is necessary, for example, when a different borrower takes on the remaining debt of a loan.

  • Where to get Liability-Account for AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS in R12

I am working on a "AP Report" and I have to display the Expense and Liaiblity accounts for each Invoice_Distribution.
In R11i, this was available from ACCTS_PAY_CODE_COMBINATION_ID from ap_invoice_distributions_all table. However, in R12.1.3 this column is Null and oracle TRM states that this column is "not in use".
Where can i get the Liability-Account in R12 ... If someone has a Query to extract the Liability-account for each Distribution, it would make my life much easier.

  • Accounting for long term contracts

I'm looking for a way to manage amortization of long term contracts with customers.
example:  build a plant for a customer in return for chemical contract with us for the next five years.
currently we are handling this in the GL.  i.e. plant is built cost of plant moved to balance sheet account and amortization completed .10 per pound of chemical bought by customer.
As you can imagine this can get messy and really doesn't tell us if the amortization on our costs is being accreted properly.  i.e.  not buying enough chemical or buying more chemical than expected.
    we are currently in 4.7
any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Liability account in release r12

    hi,
Can some one tell me where is the liability account defined at supplier main level?
i can find the liability account in supplier site level but not in supplier main level
    Regards
    sudharshan

    Hi Sudharshan,
Im not sure what you are exactly trying to point out, but in Payables Options / Accounting Financial Options you can find the default liability account which is defaulted to all suppliers..
    This is from AP-Implementation GUide:
    Accounting Financials Options
Liability. Payables assigns this account as the default Liability Account for all new
suppliers you enter. You can override this value during supplier entry. If you use
Accrual Basis accounting, then the Liability Account for an invoice determines the
liability account(s) charged when you create accounting entries for invoices.

  • AP   Liability Account   in R12

    Hi,
I'm customizing AP Trial Balance report, i need to add a field (Liability Account). Could you tell from which table has this information.
    Thanks
    pravin

    Hi,
Use the below Query to get the
    Liability_Account
    select concatenated_segments Liability_Account
    from gl_code_combinations_kfv
    where gl_account_type = 'L'
    and enabled_flag = 'Y'
and code_combination_id = your code combination id or you need to derive it from suppliers or supplier sites, in that this column corresponds to ACCTS_PAY_CODE_COMBINATION_ID
When you are deriving from supplier sites use org_id, Since sites are org specific.
    This may solve your requirement

  • I am a very long term customer how is now very disappointed with Verizon!

I am writing in to give one final try at gaining a positive response from Verizon.  I called in to talk to Customer Service today with a request and was really disappointed at getting a NO for a response.   I have a family plan with 4 phones of varying contract/upgrade dates.  Mine…6/10/15. Wife’s…5/29/14.  Mom’s…6/20/13.   Son…4/11/16.  Two of the phones are past their date and thus we can upgrade without additional fees.   I will be disconnecting my mom’s phone as she hasn’t used it since 8/6 and won’t be using it as she is moving into a Memory Care facility for Alzhiemers.   Thus my request was whether there was a way to upgrade my phone and my wifes phone to the iPhone 6 without having to pay an added fee for upgrading mine early.   I asked that they take into account that my mom’s is 16 months past her upgrade date, I am 9 months from mine and we are very very long term customers. Verizon has been our cell phone company ever since we bought cell phones a long time ago.  I was told NO.    I then told the service rep that if I have to wait until 6/10/15, I have no real reason to stay with Verizon as saying no to this request just makes no sense when it is being ask by a customer of such long standing.  I was told NO again.  Even though I am clearly not a customer that hops from one cell phone service provider to another...Verizon told me NO.  Even if it costs a bit more to switch to AT & T (which it may or may not...I don't know)…on 6/11/15 my wife and I will be leaving Verizon and my son can have an individual account.

You sign a contract promising to a 2 yr service commitment in exchange for a substantial discount on a phone. You are 9 months from completing your commitment. There is no reason for Verizon to grant your request. In fact, they may be contractually obligated to NOT do so depending on their terms for selling the iPhone negotiated with Apple.
In the past, Verizon has been lenient(by a month or 2 but never 9 months) with approving an early upgrade, but NEVER with an iPhone. The reason for this has been hinted at being because of the contract terms Verizon has with Apple. Verizon is not going to jeopardize their ability to have iPhones on their network to satisfy your demand.
Currently, there is a limited time offer to upgrade early with Verizon if you are eligible to get a discounted upgrade by 11/15/2014. Unfortunately you fall outside of that window.
Good luck with the new provider, you will be unlikely to ever get an early upgrade at another provider either.

  • Excluding storage location from MRP run in Long Term Planning

    Hi,friends,
In my scenario , i want to exclude storage location from MRP run in long term planning. When i set storage location MRP indicator "2" in SPRO and SLoc MRP indicator "1" MRP4 in material master, i can exclude the storage location after run MRP with MD01/MD02,and i can see the expected result in MD04.But in Long Term Planning scenario the storage location can not be excluded after run MRP with MS01/MS02,and the requirements list in MS04 include the stock in the storage location i want to exclude. i dont know if i miss something.Plz give me some advice.
    Regards
    Joey

    Hi,
Refer the OSS Note 208017 - LTP: Long-term planning and storage locations
    ==========================================================================
    Symptom
In long-term planning (Transactions MSBT / MS01 / MS02 / MS03), the MRP indicator of a storage location for a material is not taken into account (material master, view MRP 2 [up to and including Release 3.1I] or MRP 4 [as of Release 4.0A]).
The storage locations excluded by MRP or planned separately are also planned in the plant segment.
    Additional key words
LTP, MM01, MM02, MM03, master data, MRP indicator, LGORT ...
    Cause and prerequisites
The MRP indicator for a certain storage location of a material is only taken into account in operative planning (requirements planning, MRP).
The long-term planning occurs exclusively at plant level.
    Solution
This is no error. The system works as intended.
The individual storage locations should not be distinguished in the long-term planning, in order to perform a comprehensive long-term planning.
This is important, for example, within the kanban processing where the storage locations with kanban MRP are excluded from the MRP, but in spite of that should be included in the long-term planning.

  • Generating Supplier Liability Account based on the Supplier Classification

    Hi ,
In R12 I have a custom requirement like follows. Need to generate the Supplier Liability Account based on the Supplier Classification. When we select supplier type then by default liabilty account value will be the value from supplier--> setup --> options --> fianancial otpions --> accounting tab (GL -accounts liability value).
so when we change the supplier type the liability account should changed based on that classification value.
I have code in 11i where custom.pll was modified to acheive this, but how to implement this in R12 as supplier form is OAF based.
the code from custom.pll for this is

    Hi,
While you can refer to the SLA guide, for quick pointers what you need to do is:
    1. Identify the transaction types and associated events for that transaction.
    2. Build an accounting rule for the above.
An example would be AP invoice validation or application of prepayments.
The SLA guide provides step by step details on the above.
    Good Luck !!!

  • Liability account column/table

    Hello all,
We are running Oracle EBS R12. I am trying to determine, when a supplier is created and a liability account is assigned, where in the DB is it stored? I know it is probably linked to the GL_CODE_COMBINATIONS table, but can run a query, by say, vendor_id and get the liability account that's assigned to that vendor?
    Thanks in advance,
    Astrid

    Morning 178Ponies,
Thank you for your reply. For some reason, that column (ACCTS_PAY_CODE_COMBINATION_ID) is empty for all of the AP_SUPPLIERS records in our DB :(
Anyhow, I found a workaround to make my query work.
    Thank you anyway!

  • Are there any long-term consequences for carrying a balance?

I have some upcoming dental work ($7k) and was planning to pay in interest-free installments to the office. However, I was just approved (hooray) for a Quicksilver card with 0% APR until March. I am considering putting the work on this card, because I would earn 1.5% ($105) and get 10% discount from the dentist for paying in full ($700!). It is not a problem to pay this off before March. I have no immediate credit needs so I can take the score hit for a few months on the higher util. Are there any long-term negatives to carrying a balance? Will Cap1 hold it against me in the future? I know they like to see you charge up the card and pay it off in full, not sure if this plan will bite me. (I would pay well above minimum each month.) Thanks for any advice.

While % util will go up, scoring of % util has no memory, and thus once paid off, it will not have contnued impact. A possible concern of a credtior is when a consumer maintains a high balance for a prolonged period, which can be viewed as an indication that the consumer is over-relying on credit, and thus might be a higher risk.Based on that, it could trigger a decrease in credit limit, thus resutling in little or no decrease in % util even though the account balance is being reduced. I would try to keep it below approx 80% of overall credit limit, and if above that number, get it down within a couple of months.

  • Verizon's Long Term Plan

I am writing to try and save Verizon from themselves. I have had a Verizon Wireless Account for almost as many years as there has been a Verizon Wireless. I used to have four lines but a couple years ago my son decided he wanted an iPhone and at that time Verizon did not have a phone that could compete. I tried to persuade him to stay with Verizon on our Family Plan but he was determined to have the iPhone so he is now and AT&T customer. Even though I was paying for his phone service he was willing to take on the expense of his own account to have the iPhone. Now my daughter wants an iPhone but I was able to convince her that the Android HTC Incredible would be almost as good as the iPhone with better coverage and she could stay on my plan. She agreed to stay with Verizon and was willing to wait for the back ordered Incredible. When I tried to order the phone and upgrade my service I was told I would have to pay retail for the phone ($500.00!) which is not an option for me. I am not due for any "Upgrade" pricing but since I would be changing my plan and, of course, agreeing to a 2 year committment, I assumed that I would at least get a discount on the price of the phone.I was told this would not be the case.
So Verizon is losing my daughter as a customer. I will have to take a hit on my account because my contract goes through 6/02/11. But Verizon will take a bigger hit because my daughter is 27 years old and would have probably continued to be a Verizon customer for the foreseeable future. I am 60 so my foreseeable future is not nearly as long. And I am not sure if I want to stay with Verizon either. I have a land line (unlike my daughter and son) and I do use my cellphone for making calls (which my kids do not do so much) but even though I enjoy the better signal coverage of Verizon I don't enjoy being taken advantage of. I have been a loyal customer but I would like to think that my loyalty was appreciated by Verizon.
Most importantly, I think the short term profit that Verizon may be making on this decision will be far outweighed by the long term losses on the many young customers who are leaving Verizon. I have tried to keep two customers for Verizon but apparently Verizon does not want or need them. I believe that Verizon will someday regret this policy.

I asked to be allowed to do this and I was told I could not. This would have been an acceptable but it was not an option. By the way, the last phone I got from Verizon Wireless (Samsung Convoy) I paid full price on because I was not due for a new phone then either. I bought it to replace an LG phone that had difficult to use voice dialing. The Samsung Convoy was not functioning properly and even though I had paid full price and the defects were apparent soon after I bought it, I had to accept a "refurbished" phone as a replacement. In fact I now am aware that if you buy any Verizon cellphone and it is defective you will recieve a refurb when you get any exchange at all. (And they are pretty sneaky about this process, I might add.)
I'm pretty sure Verizon is doing ok on recouping on their hardware.
Anyway, the point is that I think it is short-sighted for Verizon to be churlish about selling smartphones to previously non-smartphone customers. Just bad business.
