  • Hibernate or Stand by fails in WinXP after installing WDM capture driver

Hi, I have an MSI MX440 card with video in and out.  The card works like I expected, games or capturing video works fine.
I first installed the card on my Windows 2000 machine, about a year ago.  After installing the WDM capture driver it stopped going in Stand by or hibernation mode.
In the beginning of this year I bought a P4 configuration but I did not install the WDM driver.  Some time ago, I gave it another try on this system but since then I can no longer go into hiberation mode or stand by.  The computer says 'Preparing to go standby' and it does not work, it returns to the desktop with another message box 'System not in stand by', 'The WDM Video Capture driver universal device is qt the cause that the computer no longer goes into stand-by, if the problem keeps existing you will need qn updated devicedriver'.
I have currently the Nvidia driver 2.1.20 running, the driver is not digataly signed.

  • WDM Capture Driver: Device Cannot Start (Error 10)

I have GeForce3 Ti200 with S-Video In, Out and TV out. I'm trying to run Virtual Dub to view my PS2, which is going into the S-Video In. It said I needed capture drivers, so I went to http://www.nvidia.com, got the ones that come with the Personal Cinema thing and installed them. Those didn't work. Came here and tried the drivers here, those didn't work. Tried other drivers and those didn't work. They all said "Device cannot start (Code 10)"
I've tried 1.1.6, 1.1.7 and 1.1.9. Any ideas? I've searched on google and seen some stuff about turning off ACPI but I use ACPI, so I'm not willing to do that.

God I love forums, cause 99.9% of the time someone else has encountered the same problem and then hopefully someone else who found a fix, posts that fix.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/viewindex.php?threadid=5847&boardid=9&sid=db40f75790c98440731e8c20eea03e5b
Much thanks to Nixus, and everyone who had solutions, but I found a variation of Nixus' solution was what worked for me so that's what I'll recommend.
"I downloaded the bios files from http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/ and then downloaded NVFLASH.EXE and booted in dos and flashed the card i had to force the flash though it had some conflict of data or something but i knew it was the right bios and i had made a backup of the current one plust the card has dual bios so i wasnt too worried and it all worked out fine.
Goodluck with gettin all your cards workin
    Cheers
    Nixus"
This is what I did anyway:
    1) went to http://www.msi.com.tw and dragged the mouse over 'support' and then clicked on live updates 2. Installed this program.
    2) went to http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/
     which Nixus brought up,
and clicked on the install button. Which installed some other software to make this button work, then installed the flashing program. Held my breathe while it updated the vga bios, normally I'd do this from a clean dos 5.0 boot disk I have, and voila, problem fixed.
Well, not quite. After installing updated vga bios, all nvidia drivers were zapped. Or at least not installed right.
    3) Add/remove programs, uninstall nvidia wdm drivers and vga driver for the 1 billionth time. Reboot.
    4) Install 30.82 whql certified ones, rebooted.
    5) Install wdm 1.19 drivers, reboot
    6) Go into system, and now instead of the exclamation point alongside the nvidia capture driver with that error, it just shows as working. Tried virtual dub, btw program rocks except for that 2 gig file limitation, and changed the source to composite and bingo, video in again.
So long story short, I updated my 8850 to the updated bios, uninstalled all old nvidia drivers, installed 30.82 and then wdm 1.19 and it worky again. Haven't tried it with det4 drivers yet, didn't feel like pressing my luck.
If you search in this vga forum using the word "capture" without the quotes, it seems this problem with the 8850 and others is QUITE common :(
Whatever...updated bios fixed it for me...fine...so long as it's fixed. Bad enough I gotta boot into 98se to use my old large, legal sized mustek scanner on account of no win2k/xp drivers, don't want to have to boot into 98crash_edition ( well technically all 95-me could be called that ) everytime I want to cap something.

  • Capture driver problems with Ti4200-VTD8X

its nice to see that some people having problems with the cature driver for this nice card.
is it possible that someone from (a) the development team can say what the status is of working out this problem or can someone give a real answer to this problem.
well hopefull that i can handle the repair console for win2k so i could disable the capture driver manually.
it's a very good feature of this card and i don't want to throw this nice card out of the window(s).

  • What is nVidia WDM captura driver???

I install the drivers for wdm video capture that I found in the msi web page for my msi fx 5200 TDR128 but I don't now what this driver is for. Also I get a code 10 in the device manager tha says the nVidia WDM video capture(universall) cannot start. it has a yellow mark on it. Does anybody how do make it work? What are this drivers for?
    Thanks
    PhanosP

WDM video capture are for... capturing video :D that is if your card has a video input. If you have video input on your card and you get a yellow "!", welcome to the club !!!
There is a bug (looks like it !) where the WDM drivers fails to load correctly with the main nVidia video drivers.
You can make it run properly by checking this thread . It worked for me. The only problem is that this is an old version driver that does not have all the latest features and I think it will not work for your FX.
You should not have problem with your new FX5600. Probably having error because your card does not have the video input.

  • Ti4200VTD8X & WDM Capture Malfunction

Okay, this is my last attempt at fixing this problem before my card goes down to the 100 yard line for a little target practice.
    I have:
    Antec 1080 tower w/ 430W PS, 3.3V line running at 3.28V
Asus P4S8X, AGP Driver loaded, BIOS updated
    512M Kingston DDR 2700, 1 stick
    MSI Ti4200VTD8X, 43.51WHQL Driver
    WD80Gb HD
    WinXP Home Sp1
    Blood type A Pos
    Shoe size 10
    Problem:
When I load the WDM Capture Driver, v1.27 (or any other version for that matter), it will allow me to reboot, it PnP's the drivers, and works for that session.  When I reboot the system, it hangs up after the XP logo screen, and then reboots to safe mode.  I set it up to show the BSOD and it displays a DRIVER_IRQL fault with NVCAP.EXE.  I have to unload the WDM drivers for my computer to function.
I went into the selective boot thingy from msconfig, and set the PCI IRQ's so they aren't dynamically assigned.  Didn't work.
I've rolled my drivers forward and back, each time using detonator destroyer or just hacking the registry to remove all reference to Nvidia.  I have even tried the virgin chicken sacrifice and beta drivers.  Didn't work.
In researching this issue, I've discovered that I am far from alone.  The problem with the WDM capture drivers and the Nvidia cards seems to be of epidemic proportions.
The most consistent problem I see is those who install the WDM capture drivers are experiencing a code 10 error.  I get this too, but only after a reboot.
There are literally hundreds of postings on the net about this same issue.  Folks are updating their drivers religiously, and trying this or that.  Most of them are quite computer literate.  We have all had to become quasi engineers and programmers to deal with these problems that simply wouldn’t be tolerated in any other industry.  Think about it.  If you bought a new car and had to completely rework the engine before it would take you to the Quickie Mart for your daily ration of carbs, wouldn’t you be slightly irritated?
Why is it that we can’t expect to be able to plug in a device, let the nifty PnP feature load the drivers and have it work correctly the first time?  Why are we constantly on pins and needles waiting for that next driver update that may or may not solve the problem that everyone is experiencing?
I spent a lot of time and money building my system.  I wanted a video card that I could play games and watch video on.  Instead, I spend my spare time hunting for the elusive fix for this weeks problem.
Should I toss the Geforce and buy a Radeon?  Spend another $300?  I look at the forums for other chipsets, and they are having their problems too.
I’m sorry I’m on a soapbox, but we need to demand more of these companies who are taking our hard earned money for products that have no business being released until some/all of the bugs are worked out of them.

Actually, I don't like cards that are display adapters and capture card combo. In the fact that not only quality will drop in fps and often problematic. Same to Radeon side... VIVO and All-In-Wonder...
Your problem is most likely IRQ sharing, get us a list on your com's IRQ settings and we'll see if we can detect any error there.
By the way, since you are so keen in having a multi-functional com, why not get a seperate DV/TV encoder/decoder card? They work better than VIVO and All-in-Wonder, and they only take out 1 PCI slot...
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • TV@nywhere and WDM driver problem-a weird one!

I just bought a TV@nywhere card, as an upgrade to my old Hauppauge WinTV card... I installed all the driver updates, and it looks and works great using the MSIPVS software. But, whenever I try to use the card with any software that uses the "Microsoft WDM Image Capture" driver, the video is either green or black and white with tiny vertical lines running through it.  ;(
I made sure all the references to my old card were deleted from the registry, I reinstalled the TV@nywhere drivers... Nothing seemed to help.
Some Windows programs (like netmeeting) don't even recognize that I have a video device at all, and the ones that do give me the b&w or green screen.
    Here's the weird part:
Finally, out of desperation, I opened Windows Movie Maker 2, the default program that comes with Windows. It named the Conexant chipset by name, and I was able to use it to record from my TV@nywhere card! Success! After doing this, I tried the programs that provided the B&W/green screens before, and they worked fine!
I thought I had permanently fixed the problem!
But now, every time I reboot, those programs that use the "Microsoft WDM Image Capture" driver go back to B&W/green... I have to run Windows Movie Maker 2 every time I reboot, record like a 5 second video, and close it to make these other programs behave normally. I'm out of ideas as to why this is happening. Can anyone help?

Well, I am using XP, and WMM 2 comes with XP. The recording quality seems to be the same in MSIPVS and WMM 2.
Something else I noticed... I downloaded some new webcam software, and it lists 2 drivers: the same WDM video driver (with the same problems I described) and also a DIRECTX capture driver, which lists the Conexant chipset by name, and captures fine.
Could this be a DirectX issue? I am using DirectX 9.0a . I e-mailed MSI 3 days ago with a question about this but received no response. This forum is my only hope in solving this.

  • NVidia Capture Driver VS Leadtek TV Tuner problem

I previously have used Leadtek WInfast TV Tuner 2000/XP before I installed MSI Geforce4MX 460-VTP with VIVO.
I never installed the capture driver for the Geforce card though, because I do not see the need. Besides I prefer to use the tv tuner to record my tv programs.
Another reason why I didn't install the NVidia capture driver is because I realize that it will cause some conflicts with the Leadtek TVTUner card driver because both are actually installing the same device drivers for the same tv-chip hardware located on both card.
NVidia Capture Driver will install these hardwares in Device Manager:
    - Nvidia WDM Audio Capture
    - Nvidia WDM Crossbar
    - Nvidia WDM TVTuner
    - NVidia WDM Video Capture
while, the Leadtek TVTUner driver will install the same driver for its own hardwares:
    - Winfast TV2000-XP Audio Capture
    - Winfast TV2000-XP Crossbar
    - Winfast TV2000-XP TVTuner
    - Winfast TV2000-XP Video Capture
Surely installing Nvidia Capture driver & Leadtek TV TUner driver will cause WinXP confused because it finds 2 sets of the same hardwares.
As I previously explained, I currently didn't install the Nvidia Capture Driver, and relies mainly on the Leadtek TVTuner to watch tv programs.  The problem is when I tried to use some recording softwares like TVTools, these softwares will only find the NVidia TV Tuner hardware instead of my Leadtek TV Tuner.
How could I solve this problem ?
Is there any way to make both hardwares (Leadtek tv tuner & NVidia capture driver) work together ?

It's got to be either a configuration issue or an incompatability with hardware because I have installed several of those cards on friends and client PC's without a single problem. I will say they all had nVidia VGA cards and either the nvidia or via chipset. I also have one and I can't find a better card for the $ and the ease of use, nice clean straight forward GUI and stability.
Have you tried the latest drivers and PVS from leadtek's website?
This thread should be in the VGA forum with a link here just in case a user with your mobo has this card.
It's not in a shared slot is it? Have you looked for IRQ conflicts? Try removing the bluetooth and modem temporarily so you only have that one TV card, then check the IRQ's. If you have to move the card to another slot. The best slots are the second and third one down from the top (where the AGP slot is) and not the first and the last slot. Try operation then. Does this fix the problem? If so then you have to find the best slots for the BT and the modem.
    Good luck.

  • ATI Radeon X800 XT or ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Mac Edition for 30" display

I currently have the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro installed in my G5 2.0 DP and it is running my 30" display, but I am having some isssues when I play DVD's the pictures seems to skip every few seconds like it isn't playing fast enough, or it hesitates. I bought the ATI Radeon X800 XT and wanted to know if that would be a better card before I switch it out.

The X800 is a faster card but DVD playback doesn't put much load on the card, so the X800 probably won't help. If it skipping on more than one DVD, the DVD drive is probably having problems. Cleaning the lens ay help.

  • GF4 Ti4600 Error 10 after installing WDM capture drivers

    Hello everybody,
Maybe one of you knows a solution for this problem.
I'm using a MSI-8872 (Ti4600) on an MSI-6367 Nforce motherboard. WinXP pro is the OS. I'm trying to use the video-in  on this videocard. After installing the WDM capturedriver i get an error 10 on this device "device can't start".To be really sure that this isn't an resource conflict i removed all extra hardware (soundcard, firewire, modem) and disabled all integrated peripheralls on the MOBO (serial, parallel ports, LAN audio, modem). After this i did a clean install of WXP detonator 30.84 and WDM 1.16. Still same problem !!!!!!!!!!! Tried also with some other combinations of detonator and WDM but the problem remains.
    Does anybody know:
    1) If this is a more common problem with this videocard (maybe in combination with Nforce chipset)
    2)A solution
    Greetingzzz,
    Foetsjie

Hello, i have the same problem on WinXP Pro.
So I tried to use newest vga driver and capture WDM driver 1.08 but the problem is same still.
Do you  know where i can download last BIOS for my VGA card?
    Thank to all )

  • Radeon x800 xt and constant freezes

I recently acquired a radeon x800 xt mac edition card to upgrade from the stock 9600xt that came in my G5. After installing it today, it worked great, except that it will unpredictably freeze up the entire computer. The video will freeze, though the spinning beach ball will still be visible and moveable, and I can hear sound continuing (though stuttering) in the background. The freeze locks up the entire computer-- I have to force a shutdown with the power button. It's happened while running World of Warcraft, but also during less intensive applications like Firefox. The frequency increased while I was trying to determine the problem to the point that the computer would only be usable for 3-4 minutes after startup. I had to swap it out for the old card just to post to this board.
I have attempted updating the ATI ROM version to the most recent update on ATI's site (August 2005). I've run the combined 10.4.8 update to make sure I hadn't accidentally reverted to old drivers. I even did a clean install of Tiger on a different hard drive, updated it to 10.4.8, and booted from it. Following bizarre outdated advice, I even tried disconnecting third-party peripherals. Nothing solved the problem.
I'm near the breaking point trying to figure out what is going wrong. My computer works completely fine with the old card in. When I swap in the x800, I get maybe 3-4 minutes of use. I've spent a long time scouring the internet for information and possible leads, and most searches turn up horribly outdated information. Can anyone help?
    G5 SP 1.8 GhZ Mac OS X (10.4.8) 1.5 Gb RAM

No-- after I posted this last night, I tried a few more things and left the case open. That was when I noticed that the fan on the video card wasn't spinning at any point during its operation.
Is this a known problem with a simple solution? I hope so. Thanks again for any help you can offer.

  • Video capture driver for MSI GeForce 2 Pro video card

    Hi,
I am in need of the nVidia WDM video capture driver for my Geforce 2 Pro video card. Model #M-8831. I was able to download it from the MSI/TW website over a year ago just fine. My computer crashed from a game bug a couple of months ago and MSI/TW does not list the capture driver I need any longer. I did email the company asking for help with no response back yet (after 2 weeks). You people may be my last hope.
I do have the cd that came with the video card, but I've never been able to install the capture driver from it. There is a button to install it, but it never gets loaded. I've tried browsing the cd and also tried installing it using the windows wizards with zero results. My only successful install was from the MSI home website.
If you need more information, please let me know.

  • Lenovo T400 screen goes dark issue, some video driver problem

    Lenovo:
    Motherboard:
    CPU Type: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267)
    Motherboard Chipset:  Intel Cantiga GM45
System Memory: 1992 MB (DDR3 SDRAM)
    BIOS Type: Phoenix (08/19/08)
    Display:
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
3D Accelerator: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
    Problem/Issue:
Driver problem appeard after upgrading from XP to Windows 7.
From the Device Manager I saw that ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 was not working properly and
    a) I did the "update driver software." After restart the screen light was darker than usual. (This was usual if I was working from battery but I was plugged in this time. )
As I'm not the best with computers I thought my drivers might be in conflict and to prevent serious damages, I just
    b) disabled ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 from device manager.
This actually resolved the dark screen problem.
    c) then I went to Lenovo support site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858
downloaded newest drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 (Switchable Graphics Driver)
and Intel 4500MHD (Intel GM45 Express Chip)
For some reason while installine the: Intel GM45 Display Driver (version 8.15.10.2302) gives me error:
"This Computer Does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
Also some problem appeard when installing the new downloaded version:
ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver  (version 8.792.5-110424b-119200C)
    d) so I went back to device manager and made an update to ATI Mobility Radeon  from there.
Well, I got it working, but the screen went dark again. When I disable the driver it goes back to normal
brightness and when I enable it again, it stays normal.
I'll try to restart and see what happens

We had the excat same issue.
I could get the picuture back pressing the power button until it went to sleep and then wake it up again.
After the I went to device manager to delete all display drivers both Intel and ATI and then reboot.
doing the reboot windows found some drivers it could use.
I then installed the switchable driver from lenovo.
Now windows device manger report two display drivers:
    1)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
    2)
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, Version, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
So it seams the switchable ATI driver take over the Intel card and the Intel driver is not needed.
At least the problem is solved for us.
    Regards Anders

  • My new Radeon X800 XT gives me... a blue screen

    Hi everyone,
I was lucky enough to find a Radeon X800 XT at OWC, and when I install it, all I get are two solid blue monitors. I swapped back to my old video card (9600 Pro) and everything works fine, but when I install the new one...nothing but blue.
    - The fan is spinning on the x800xt
    - I have installed the drivers and all the updates from ATI.
    - I am running OS X (10.4.8)
    - I am using the AGP port ( I have an older G5)
Any suggestions? Hopefully it is I who is faulty and not the card...
    thanx,
    Massmore
    Mac G5 PowerPC Dual 2Ghz, 4 G RAM,   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I think either the ATI or Apple website advises not
to install any files, because Tiger already has the
latest versions. Did you try just installing and
    starting up?
Anyway, let us know what OWC says. Thanks.
Thought I'd throw in my experience on that. I had to wipe my G5 and installed a fresh copy of Tiger. I ran all the Apple updates from Software Update etc. In my case however I forgot to reinstall any of the ATI software.
After 2 days, the fan on my X800XT would just stop. No warning, nothing, the fan would just stop (and in turn cause the card to start to overheat). After a quick restart/shutdown, the fan would spin right back up. Now, like MANY others have reported, my card's fan makes a lot of noise, so at first I thought the fan was gone. However, since my fan would start right back up after a reboot, I began to look into software stuff.
In the end I reinstalled all the ATI software (prefs pane, and the ROMXtender etc.), and have not had ANY fan issues for almost a month (knock on wood). I know I may have to replace my fan at some point, but these random stops were DEFINATLY a software issue, and just letting the Tiger driver's etc. sit alone caused my fan to just stop.
I know Tiger's updates are more recent than what is on ATI's site, but in my experience, only the ATI software kept my fan from stopping. Just my 2 cents…
