Radial Filter

For some reason I have lost the handles when I use the Radial Filter and I cannot change or move the oval. Is there something Lightroom 5.5 that is a issue or am I doing something wrong?? I am on a mac with 10.9.5.

In the Toolbar (press T if you can't see it), what is Show Edit Pins set to?

  • In lightroom 5.3, I do not see the radial filter ellipse.

Yesterday I purchased Lightroom 5.3 and tried the radial filter.  It seemed to work fine.
Today I can not longer see the filter's ellipse.  What am I doing wrong?

    Press "H".
When using the Radial Filter, there are various options using the "Show Edit Pins" menu at the bottom of the image. Pressing the "H" keys toggles between "Never" (likely what you have) and "Auto" (which shows the pins and the elipse when the mouse is over the images, but hides them when you move the mouse off the image). There are other options as well, experiment with them to get to your preferred display state.
These same display options are also in the Gradient tool and the Adjustment Brush.

  • Radial filter does not show in Photoshop CS5

    Hi,
I am using the trial of LR5. I have made some adjustments with the Radial Filter. When "opening as a smart object in CS5," the radial filter adjustments do NOT show up. Crop does, basic exposure adjustments, but no radial filter.
Anyone know why? Would it show up in CS6? I do not want to go to CC.
    Thanks much for your help.
    MF

Just so you understand, LR5 can pass the Radial data to ACR 8.1 in CS6, but you won't be able to alter the radial filters (or any of the LR5 only features) unless you go to ACR 8.1 in Photoshop CC. So, a SO in ACR 8.1 in CS6 will still be limited in terms of what you can and can't do in CS6.

  • Radial Filter non existing in Camera Raw 8.7 on Photoshop CS6

I've upgraded to Camera Raw 8.7 on my Photoshop CS6 for Mac.
I do not have the Radial Filter button in the Camera Raw plugin and I can't access to Camera Raw from the Photoshop's Filter menu.
While searching on google for screen shots, I see that I'm not the only one.
    Anybody else got this problem?
Is there something else to install?
    Thanks

    Hi
I encountered the same problem. No Radial Filter button after installing Raw 8.7 on CS6. Any idea how to solve this problem?

  • Radial Filter not changing to outside in Photoshop CC Camera Raw

    Hello folks,
I realise that I may be missing the very obvious, so apologies in advance - this has been driving me nuts for a few weeks now and I can't find anything in forums to help me out...
Basically, in Camera Raw filter within Photoshop CC, when I try to add a Radial Filter, I can only get the filter to apply on the inside - clicking the option buttons at the bottom of the menu, the adjustments never move from inside to outside, I can't get any adjustments to apply outside the radial, not even when I select New at the top of the menu either. What am I missing? Hopefully someone will be able to offer a solution!
    Thanks in advance,
    David

ACR 8.7.1 is current can you post some screen capture where that shows your problem. Ther radio button should cause the current active  Radial filter to change.   Like this one I show that changes exposure of the area. "Must be Active" with overlay checked the boundary outline should be visible.

  • LR5 's Adjustment Brush doesn't seem to work-does the New Radial Filter have priority?

So why in the world would I update Lightroom in the middle of a job.?
Before I was able to do in and touch up shadowy areas using (K) adjustment brush, but now it doesn;t seem to work. The radial brush does a good job for a defined area but for SPOT touching I have always used the the adjustment brush?
Is there a setting or am I missing something or is this a bug?

The presence of the Radial Filter in the tool set should have no effect on the Brush. It continues to work just as it always has. In fact, even if the RF is open (I sometimes hit it by mistake when I really want the Brush) and you click on the Brush icon, the RF closes and the Brush opens. If your Brush is not functioning properly, it is very unlikely that the RF is the reason. The usual first aid for any LR misbehavior is to close LR, remove the Preferences file from its folder and relaunch LR, allowing it to make a new preferences file. Not guaranteed to solve the problem, but worth trying.

  • Radial filter doesn't sync right

Is any one encountering a problem with radial filter when sync it to multiple images? I am getting a different dimention and position every time I sync or press previous. For the rest of the settings are remaing the same.

I just tried this and created a radial filter that is completely outside the photo (I zoomed out to make the photo small to see the filter and then zoomed back to fit) and synced the radial to another photo (with the same pixel dimensions) and it worked as expected with the radial being exactly the same.  I don't think you should expect it to be placed in the same relative place and size with photos of different aspects and pixel dimensions if that is what you are doing. There are just too many scenarios for the developers to guess what the user is expecting to happen.   If the photos are the same pixel dimensions then I agree it might be a bug but it seems to work ok for me  Lr 5.3  osx 10.8.5.

  • Lost black highlight associated to adjustment brush, radial filter, graduated filter [was: stupid problem]

lost black highlight associated to adjustment brush, radial filter, graduated filter and actions are showing up in small navigator window

    Hi Eric
    Thanks for your reply
I've had another look at it... whenever I have a negative exposure setting on the brush or gradient and apply it anywhere in the image it seems to affect the top end highlights throughout the image even if they haven't been clicked on.
It's just a small change but it is frustrating to lose highlight detail when you've worked hard to capture it in camera!
Look forward to hearing from you.

  • Can't apply Graduated Filter and Radial Filter in LR5 (photo becomes grey box)

    Hi,
I am using the Lightroom 5, every functions are working fine, except the Graduated Filter and Radial Filter casuing me a problem.
When I click on the Graduated Filter / Radial Filter button, and trying to apply the filter (i.e. draw the eclipse) on my photo, my photo in the central pane immediately turns grey, as per below screenshot.
I have to click the Library Module and then click Develop Module in order to get back the photo showing in the central pane, but the same problem appears if I tried to use the Graduated and Radial Filters.
Anybody knows the root cause and solution ? Please kindly help. Thank you !

The easiest thing should be to simply apply the preset to an image, then choose to Update with Current Settings and make sure Graduated Filter is unchecked. Move through all of your presets like this.
I don't know how many suspect presets you have to go through, but you can also manually edit them with a simple text editor to remove the Graduated filter. If you right-click on the preset, you can show in Explorer/Finder. Open the file in Notepad/TextEdit and simply remove the GradientBasedCorrections section (this has many sub-fields, most of which start with "Local"). Save the file and move on to the next.

  • Radial filter not displaying th ecircle or elipse

I have been using the radial filter with no problems.
Now it will not display the circle or eplipse. it seems to be working as when I try to do the circle and it will not show but if I change the exposure or any of the setting it does do that.
As said with out the guideline of the ciecle or elipse and not showing the marker on the image is no good .
Have I accidently changed something or a setting to cause this .
    thank you form any help.

You may have inadvertently pressed the H key to hide the pin and ring. If your Toolbar is showing (T) you can also select the behaviour from the lower left corner.

  • Why does my version of Lightroom 5 not have the moire tool under the Radial Filter?

I've been seeing screenshots all over the place of Lightroom 5 that displays a number of tools under the Radial Filter, including one for moire. That's a big part of why I decided to join Creative Cloud, but in my version of Lightroom 5, there is no such tool. Anyone else experiencing that same problem, or can anyone provide any input on why this might be? Thanks.

The only sliders I see under the Radial Filter are:
    Exposure
    Brightness
    Contrast
    Saturation
    Clarity
    Sharpness
    Color
    Feather
and the Invert Mask checkbox. There is only one black triangle, which is pointed down -- obviously if I click on it, it collapses the above slider group.

  • Radial filter tool in Camera Raw 8.3 does not show

If have updated Camera Raw and do not see the Radial Filter tool in the toolbar next to the Graduated filter tool. Does anybody know what is wrong here?

Are you using CS6?  The Radial Filter only comes with CC.  You will continue to be able to add ACR updates to CS6, but only with additional camera support, and not the added features that come with CC.
If you wanted to use the Radial Filter to produce vignette, check out the Post Crop vignetting in the FX tab.  It produces a wonderfully smooth gradient with lots of control.
