Radial filters lost when editing/exporting to Photoshop

In LR 5.7, (latest Win7 64 Pro) in Develop, when I right-click an image and say Edit in Photoshop with LR Adjustments.  The bug seems to be that it fails to apply radial filters.  So the photo imported into Photoshop seems to have all filters applied correctly except radial filters.  The work-around is that I have to manually export each photo, then load in Photoshop, save then manually import back into LR.  Anyone else have this issue?

If using PS CS5 or earlier you'll have to use the 'Render Using Lightroom' option. If using PS CS6 you need to update to ACR 8.8, which is fully compatible with LR5.7.

It also explains why my pics coming back from PS still use 8-bit color even though I specified 16-bit in the LR prefs.  Thanks!
When using Edit In with 'Open Anyway' (your previous setting) the file is processed using PS's ACR and not LR's ACR. Your PS ACR preferences must set to 8 bit color. You can change it to 16 bit by opening an image with PS ACR and clicking on the Workflow Options at the bottom of the panel:

  • Video editing/exporting in Photoshop CS6 - original quality gone in YouTube. Idea?

Hello, i've searched this forum and other sources already, but couldn't find a solution. Unfortunately, i am not a video pro.
I record video tutorials about Photoshop (so, screen captures) and edit/combine the clips inside Photoshop CS6 in Win 7/64; Photoshop's new video talent is nice. I record 852x480px at 15 fps with FastStone Capture  and save in WMV.
I want to show the finished video tutorial on Youtube. There are several things baffling me when editing video in Photoshop CS6.
My original records  (according to MediaInfo):
    Software: FastStone Capture

If i upload this *original* WMV clip *without any editing* to YouTube, it looks very nice on YouTube (if you manually set the YouTube player quality to 480p). YouTube upscales the low-res clip nicely even on big screens. (I use the low screen resolution of 852x480 so that tool icons and letters in menus don't appear to small. I would love to stay with that resolution.)
But i want to combine several screen capture takes in Photoshop CS6. Inside Photoshop CS6 Extended, i get the Adobe Media Encoder (AME) and have only two format options: H.264 (MP4) and DPX (DPX only offerening resolutions between 1080 and 2048 px wide). There is no AVI or WMV or anything else offered.
So from Photoshop CS6 i export to MP4 with these specs:
    MP4
Preset: High Quality (nothing "better" is offered)
    Size: as original (852x480)
    Framerate: as original (15 fps)
    Interlacing: progressive (recommended by YouTube)
The result looks very nice when i play it locally in VLC. It looks like the original WMV.
But: When i upload the Photoshop-version to YouTube, the video looks very badly "upsampled" and blurred. It looks much worse than the uploaded WMV original.
If you like, you can compare the two videos from the same source online:
Uploaded WMV clip, looking good (set player to 480 p):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjmKohV_jmU
Rendered in Photoshop CS6, looking bad (set player to 480 p):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA0Veq9IZac
I do like the resolution of 852x480 and would like to keep it. If not possible, i have to record tutorials in 1280x720, even though icons and menus look too small. So far i have not tested it.
I searched my folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0. There is a lot in it which i don't understand, but some file names include "MPEG", "AVI", "Adobe QT Server" etc. I think there is no Quicktime installed on my machine; i try to avoid it as it does many different things to the system and is obnoxious.
    My questions:
    - When aiming for a YouTube cast, could i stay with 852x480 (at 15 fps), or doesn't it make sense? (I like that size.) If 852x480 is not ok, what is the lowest resolution for getting good looking presentations on Youtube?
    - Why does the Adobe Media Encoder in my Photoshop CS6 only offer the formats H.264 and DPX? Can i get more? (Free, pay.) Would it help?
    - Do i need to install Quicktime? How could i do this with less intrusive QT behaviour?
    - Should i record more fps in FastStone Capture? (I don't find more fps necessary when looking at the original and when looking at the uploaded *original*.)
    - What to do?
    Thanks for all suggestions!

My Canon EOS Camera can also capture 1080p Video it writes it to the memory Card as Name.MOV.  I don't do video the file are huge. But you
made me want to see what CS6 video support could do to reduce the file size.
So I took one of my captured .mov files and droped it onto Photoshop the .mov file was 264,678,777 byte in size.  I saw the Photoshop could render H264 .mp4 video anf that there were some presets for YouTube at 29.97 the rate my camera does for 1080p, 720p and SD 360p I also tried createin a 854x480 16:9 video 480P
These are the size file produced 480 make no sence it so close to 720 file size.

  • Since upgrading to Snow Leopard Problems when editing picture in Photoshop CS4 - not switching to dedicated space

    Hi,
I'd appreciate your help on this, maybe I just chose a stupid set-up to begin with.
I use spaces and have allocated Space 1 to Lightroom and Space 2 to Photoshop to always have a clear backdrop when switching to Photoshop.
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, when I choose 'Edit photo in Photoshop', Photoshop (the frame) opens fine in it's correct space, but the picture does not show. When I click on Window and on the respective picture window the picture shows but all reverts to Space 1 and I have the Lightroom window in the background so that I need to extend the Photoshop window to create a less distracting background.
Any idea why this happens or any suggestions for a better set up?
    Thanks heaps
    Claudia

    Claudia
I am running PS CS4 as an external editor for my Lightroom 2.5 installation on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and I have exactly the same 'Spaces' setup as you (i.e. LR and PS each are in their own space) but I am not experiencing the behaviour you are experiencing.
If it's of any help, you might try fiddling with the window behaviour in PS to see if it changes anything? In the "Window" menu I have selected the "Application Bar" rather than the "Application Frame".

  • Pixelation when editing/exporting

I'm editing an animated short, which was exported from Flash at 1920x1080 as an H.264 mov.  The source video looks fine.  Final Cut is set to AVCHD 1080i60, but for some reason it's horribly pixelated in many areas, both when editing in Final Cut and when exported to Quicktime.  Any idea why?

I set up FC for HDV 720p30, and the same thing happens.  I noticed though that on any setting, the quality is degraded slightly as soon as I drag the file into FC, and when I render it gets even worse.
    In QT 7:

  • Filters lost when making multiclip

I used 4 cameras on a shoot. I color corrected each clip so the color would match.
Then I took the 4 clips and made a multiclip, but the color correct filters are now gone in all of the clips. Are filters discarded when clips are made into a multiclip?
Thanks for any help you can give.

There is a section in the manual on how to apply filters to multiclips.
You can also search the forum for the technique, the question comes up several times a month. It involves using the FIND function to highlight all clips in the timeline from a certain clip and then you can apply a filter to all of them.
The last time I tried to do extensive colro correction on clips destined for multiclipping, I rendered the movies and reimported them. That way I knew whatever the happened to the timeline or bin clips or the original footage, the proper color corrections would always be available.

  • EXIF data lost when edited and exported to Picasa web

I use iPhoto 6. If a geotagged photo is scaled and exported to Picasa web, then the EXIF data are preserved and recognized by Picasa web. But if the same photo is edited (crop, contrast...) and then exported to Picasa web, then the EXIF data don't appear. I've tried the export operation manually and through the plugin, but it always happens the same. How to avoid this? Does it happen too with iPhoto 8? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes and no. With iPhoto 8 you can export with an option to include the keywords, titles and comments. But I don't know if geotags are included. Ask in the iPhoto 8 forum as I know geotags have been discussed there. Do a search in that forum for "geotags" or similar.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Color mismatch between Lightroom when edits done in Photoshop

I am having a lot of problems since I upgraded to Photoshop 5 and Lightroom 3.  When I go to edit a particular photo in Photoshop from LIghtroom the photo changes once I have saved it back into Lightroom (despite making no alterations whatsoever in Photoshop).  I am using Adobe 1998 colour space on both programs and can't figure out what is going on.  The new photos saved back into LIghtroom are slightly more contrasty.  Can someone help me?  I am only noticing this because I have run into a lot of problems with printing recently and I am trying to get rid of some of the variables that might be causing this.  Thanks in advance!

Also wanted to mention that I have calibrated my monitor and I have NOT selected the "desaturate monitor colours" box in the color settings dialog box.

  • Properties Lost When Editing In Excel

I have a document library in SP 2010.  To this library I added some columns - number, drop down, text, etc
When I click on an excel sheet which i upload to this library, i can edit it in Excel.  But when I save / checkout, it removes all these property values.
The interesting thing is that if I go to Prepare, Properties I can see all the values in the Document Properties - Server screen.  They are just not being sent to the server with the file itself.
    What can be wrong?
    Thanks

I open an existing file by clicking on it in sharepoint, then simply click on the Excel Save button.
The "create a version each time you edit a file" option is set to No versioning
All users have the same problem.  Excel 2007 is being used.
Something that might be related (or not): If instead of opening the file by clicking on it from the sharepoint library, i open it directly from excel (by pointing the File open dialog to the sharepoint url), and I then go to Server > Checkout, modify
the document, then go to Server > Checkin, i get an error saying that the file could not be checked in since the original was moved or deleted!  I checked the Document Content Type and the Title column is set to Optional...

  • Now, in photoshop elements 9 when editing, colours displayed are not correct, seems gama number has changes ?

up to now I had no problem when editing photos with photoshop elements 9. Due to an  unknown  reason/event the colours displayed , now, are not correct : it looks like the gama adjustment has been changed and the photo rendition is uncorrect. If I display the same photos with other photo editing software ( DPP from Canon for example, or Xnview) , the colours are correct !!... Can you help me ?
    Thanks  a lot !
    JJ Etienne

Thank you for trying to help me. In fact, I resolved my problem by changing the default ICC profile for my screen : I entered the parameters settings panel, screen definition and then advanced settings where I could choose another ICC profile.
    Thank you anway !!

  • EXIF Data Lost for Edited DNG Files

I'm having an issue where my photo's EXIF data is lost when I export the picture from iPhoto. This only happens after I edit a RAW (DNG) file and export it. If I export the RAW file before editing the EXIF data is fine. Is this a bug?
    System Info:
    iPhoto v.7.1.3
RAW format type is Adobe DNG.
    Camera is Pentax K10D
    Mac OS X v.10.5.2.

I've been having the same trouble for a few months now. All EXIF is lost, including GPS and focal info. It only occurs when you edit a RAW/DNG file and have the "save edits as 16-bit tiffs" selected in the preferences. Please, Apple, help! This is a significant issue when exporting photos! That info is essential.
    thanks,
    Brett

  • How to see original photo after exporting to photoshop

    Hello,
When making adjustments to the RAW file in Lightroom I know you can use the "\" key to see the before image. However, when I export to photoshop it saves a second image back into Lightroom.
When looking at this new image is there a way to flip back and forth with the original RAW??
    Thanks
    Scott

No, that isn't possible because the new image is a completely separate file. But there's nothing preventing you from using the arrow keys in Lightroom to move back and forth between the two images. Or, you can highlight the two images and press the letter C to compare the two images side-by-side.

  • Crystal 2011 - Formats lost when published to CMC

    Hi team,
    Here's my issue...
Have exported a Crystal 2009 report and saved it into 2011.
I noted that some of the formats had changed slightly. i.e. font size, paragraph line spacing
Fixed these, ran the report from crystal 2011 and exported the report to PDF, looks great!
Published the report to CMC and ran a test hoping to get the same results, however this time the formats are gone?
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong, please.
    Thanks,
    Simon

Thanks for your reply, the formats are being lost when I export to PDF.
We wonder if the problem is something to do with the way the text was formatted in the older version of crystal and that exporting and importing into Crystal 2011 has lost some of this.

  • Faded colours on export to Photoshop

Sorry if this has been covered before.....
When I export to Photoshop (Cmd-Shft-O) Aperture correctly creates the TIFF and opens it in Photoshop. However the Photoshop version has very much less colour saturation or something, the colour just look all washed out.
I'm sure this is something to do with Colorsync/colour workflow settings, but I'm not expert enough to know what the problem is. Can anyone help?

+Menu > File > Print > PDF > Save to folder as TIFF or jpeg+
As to printing problems: check the default printer; or what printer you have selected to print to in the Pages' Printer Setup; networking; plugs are in; power is on.

  • Lightroom 5 does not export my adjustments when editing in Photoshop 6, although I have selected "edit a copy w/ LR adjustments"

I am a Mac user and I started to experience that my Lightroom 5 would no longer send the adjustments I have made to photoshop 6 even though I have selected the option for it do to so. I have searched online to fix this issue with no luck, I tried deleting the com.adobe.photoshop.plist and it did not resolve the issue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

(Sometimes I have answers, but usually only more questions.)
Are other adjustments coming across--for example if you max out the Exposure sliders does the TIF end up lighter?  You could be editing the original not the LR version.
Are other new adjustments for LR5/ACR8 coming across--for example Uprights?  If you have an image with rectangular architectural features shot at a perspective angle, and you correct them in LR using one of the Uprights (Lens-Correction / Basic) options does Edit In w LR Adjustments include them?
If neither Uprights or Radial Filters are coming across, that would only make sense if you're actually using ACR 8.6 with PS-CS6 (not ACR 7.1) and you're not getting asked any question about with LR Adjustments, and are just assuming you're getting LR adjustments, when instead PS is rendering things using ACR which purposely doesn't allow new LR 5/ACR8-only features.
Another symptom of this situation would be that the filename in PS is the same as it was in LR, not with an -Edit on the end of the filename.
You can force LR to edit a copy if you define Photoshop.exe as an external editor and use Edit in Photoshop.exe instead of Edit in Photoshop.
