Radio Buttons, Global Binding, and Change Event

I have a pair of radio button groups with the same name that I have set to Global binding. The radio buttons in these radio button groups have script in the change event. The problem is, when I click on a button in one group, it doesn't fire the change event in the other one, even though the corresponding button changes. I can work around this, but I'm curious why this doesn't work.

ocen12 is correct - the change event will only fire when a user clicks on the radiobutton. It will not fire when a script changes the value. I tried it here and found that the radio buttons on both groups act like they are under the same exclusion group. Do you see the same thing? If I select a value in the second exclusion group any value I had in the 1st one is gone.

How to binding and change VM property value when DataTrigger?

Please see the below code. The current work is when mouse over myButton then set textbox value as 3. Then binding this value to ViewModel property, at this time, the new value of ViewModel property also be 3.
The textbox just like a bridge. Can I remove this bridge and change the VM property directly when <setter..... in myTrigger style? thanks.

Radio Button Data Binding

Hi All,
I am a vb beginner and I was wondering how you bind a radio button to a field in a database that has choice of 2 values. For example the field in my db is CoverType and the user should be able to select Hardcover or Paperback.

I'm having the same trouble, and although I work in 'Classic' HTML & Vb this might be useful for you.
I found that with Radio Buttons, you can bind each one in a group to the same DataSrc & DataFld. Since all the Radios have the same Name and ID they switch between as usual, however, each radio has a different Value which is updated into the XML.

Difference between Click and Change event

Not sure what would be causing this, so any input would be very helpful
I am using the following JAVA script to set focus on a text box after the user clicks on in a check box.
Using the “Click” event
xfa.host.setFocus(form1.requester_info.m_approve.Table9.Row1.m_name);
When I click on the check box, nothing happens. Focus does not move
Using the “Change” event I use the same code;
xfa.host.setFocus(form1.requester_info.m_approve.Table9.Row1.m_name); It works.
I have 4 check boxes on the form that will use this code(changing the focus of course) and I get the same results for each check box.
Anyone have any ideas what I could be doing to bugger this up

I am sorry for leaving this until today but……weekend… I thought I would like to be form free for a couple of days.

For you to review. I have set the form up as people would see it if when they first open the form. The user will need to click on text boxes to open up different parts of the form. I am a believer in the phrase, “if you don’t need to read it, you don’t need to see it”. Please keep in mind I have not added all the help notes nor have I completed the accessibility text.
You will see that I have used the “change” and not the “click” as I was still unable to get the “click to work.

[Flex 4.5.1] How to prevent Radio Button from being selected when clicked on? No Changing Event?

I have a very common use case where you have a few radio buttons and only one can be selected at a time. Some of them are basic and on click should be selected right away, but other are more complex and open a pop up which requires some additional user selections after which the user selected OK or CANCEL for example and only after that the selection of the radio button should be applied programatically.
So to solve this issue I've come up with 2 workarounds:
1) make the entire group, that holds the radio button, act as a button with buttonMode="true" mouseChildren="false" and programatically change the radio button within it.
2) hold the current radio button selection in a variable and in the changeHandler of that radio button return the selection back to what was selected before. But this also causes a small flickering of the radio button which gets selected and deselected immediately after that.. not cool.
So my question is... is there something I am missing that could do the job without these workarounds... like a Changing event which I use for the ButtonBar but I can't find on the RadioButton or RadioButtonGroup... thanks!

Hi,thanks for the reply. Actually that was my third option, but not sure if it's very good also..
Here is a simple scenario:
User must select between 2 radio buttons:
1) no volume -> sets variable volume=0 and selects the radio button (that is the normal use case)
2) set volume -> opens up a pop up with a list that has a X button to close and 4 options: 25% volume, 50% volume, 75%, 100%
At this point the set volume radio button should not be selected and the user has 2 choices:
-> hit the X button to close - nothing changes and no volume radio button is still selected and volume is still = 0
-> hit one of the volume % buttons -> the set volume radio button gets selected and the variable volume=25/50/75/100 depending on the button selected by the user.
That's a pretty common scenario and it's bugging me that I can't easily alter the radio button selection logic since whenever I click it, it gets selected and I can't put a logic in between in a standard way. This should apply to any component with selection, just like ButtonBar has it with the Changing event.
So is there any other more convenient way to accomplish this scenario that you could recommend?

Radio buttons and Checkboxes to change appearance when selected

Help needed.
I want my check boxes and radio buttons when selected to change color from black to "0,64,128", size from 12 to 14 and to become bold.
Also the default appearance for checkboxes is cross, but I need it to be a check mark.

What is the diffrence between "Key to Select" and "Selected Key" while creating Radio Buttons?

While creating radio buttons there is a confusion regarding two properties "Key to Select" and "Selected Key".Can anybody explain it with example?

Key to Select: This is the unique key for each radio button to identify which one is selected
Selected Key: This holds the "KEY" of selected radio button
Example:
   Let us say we have 2 radio buttons : Male & Female
     Create a context attribute SELECTED_KEY of type STRING.
     Create an action ON_SELECT for radio button select event
     Now,
     the properties for "MALE" radio button as below
          KEY_TO_SELECT = 'M'
          SELECTED_KEY = "bind to the context attribute SELECTED_KEY
          OnSelect = 'ON_SELECT'.
     The properties for 'Female" radio button as below
          KEY_TO_SELECT = 'F'
          SELECTED_KEY = "bind to the context attribute SELECTED_KEY
          OnSelect = 'ON_SELECT'.
If we select radio button 'Male', we get the key as 'M' and for 'Female' radio button 'F'.
check inside the event handler method ONACTIONON_SELECT, you get the 'KEY' of selected radio button.
So, the context attribute 'SELECTED_KEY' gets filled with the key of selected radio button

In module pool programming, I create 2 radio buttons, namely fileins and tableins, and they have been grouped. But while running, change of radio button doesn't trigger PAI event. Is there any possiblity to trigger PAI without ENTER key pressing.

U need to assign an ok_code to the radiobutton, in this way it'll be like a pushbutton and the pai will be triggerd as soon as it'll press it.

Help with radio buttons and show/hide javascript

Hi. I'm new working with LiveCycle and also pretty much at a basic/beginner level of javascripting. I'm creating a pdf fillable form and one of the tasks I've been given is to add a function where if Option A is chosen by the user, then the correspondng table will appear, and if Option B is chosen another table will appear. After some searching I Iearned more about how radio buttons can be used, so I created a set of radio buttons. I have tried several different things, the latest was making both tables "hidden", and then taking to the radio button list group and applying the show/hide script to each of the radio buttons in the group. Still nothing seems to be working as I want it to. The table remains hidden when I click on the . This is what the code looks like right now. I know I'm obviously doing something wrong, this seems like such a basic thing to code. Getting to the frustration point, if you can sort me out with what I am missing/overlooking please let me know. Note. The radio buttons are not in the same table, they are higher up in the form outside of the tables that I am trying to show/hide, but they are in the same subform. I don't know if that might be an issue?

For starters you have unnamed pages, which is not a good idea. This makes it more difficult to reference objects. In your JavaScript you would have to resolve the node, however the simpliest route would be to name the page first. Something like "page1". Have a look at this example for referencing objects: http://assure.ly/kUP02y.
Next I would not place the script in each of the radio buttons, as this is likely to cause conflicts and is doubling the script. The best place to put the script is in the click event of the radio button exclusion group. This contains all of the radio buttons. See an example here: http://assure.ly/h7whb8 and https://acrobat.com/#d=ALebgueDXjewHjGyYRdrmw.
You syntax for JavaScript if/else statements is potentially incorrect. The script within the statements should be wrapped in curly brackets. While you can get away with it for single lines, I would not be inclined to take that approach. So:

With the radio button exclusion group you can use its rawValue, just specify it in the Object > Binding palette. So on the basis of chaning the page name:

PAGE RADIO BUTTONS and APPLICATION ITEM VALUE

I have several pages that use same radio button group that permits filtering the report query (of course on each page, it is a page level radio button item).
I created an application item value to hold the last used value of a radio button item.
On login, I would like the application item value set to a default value.
For a given page using the recurring radio button group item,
I would like the radio button item value set to the application item value on entry into a page.
I would like the report to use the application item value on entry to a page.
I would like the application item value be updated anytime the page level radio button item value is changed, so that when you move to another page,
the next radio button group and report can use the last selected radio group button value.
I am trying to use a variety of solutions in COMPUTATION and CONDITIONAL COMPUTATION... to include use of set_session_state procedure, and I am not getting desired result, partial success, but not complete.
Can you have a computation item that is only for initialization of the report and radio button group on page entry?
And a separate computation item that senses user selection of another radio button, updating the report, and updating the application level item?

Created an HTML region in COLUMN 2 and SEQUENCE 10.
Selected under region CONDITION:
Current Page is contained within Expression 1 as comma delimited list of pages
in the EXPRESSION 1 provided the requested comma delimited list of pages that I wished the HTML region to appear.
Created the radio button group item P0_RADIO and assigned to Page0 HTML region.
Selected under item CONDITION:
Current Page is contained within Expression 1 as comma delimited list of pages
in the EXPRESSION 1 provided the requested comma delimited list of pages that I wished theradio button group to appear.
In SHARED COMPONENTS I created an APPLICATION COMPUTATION
In the computation I created a PL/SQL function to initialize the radio group

'A_ALL' being the default value for :P0_RADIO
Radio group appears on the desired pages, is initialized to the desired default value, and works properly on each page.

Two radio button groups merging into one, and I don't want that. How do I fix it?

I have two sets of radio buttons that I want to be independent of each other. How do I do that? Just to be clear... I have one set with two buttons. The second set has six buttons. They are independent of each other - they just happen to fall in line one right after the other. LiveCycle keeps putting them together.

Select the Radio button that you want to be independent of the other radio buttons, RIGHT click and choose Wrap in New Radio Button Group.
This way it can be selected along with other radio buttons..
One question here. If you want each radio button to be independent of each other, why not change them to Check Boxes instead of Radio Buttons.

Save Status of Radio Buttons and Variables

I designed a form that uses a Raddio Button with three choices. These choices selectibles enable/disable areas of the form. The user will save the form with a different name for archival. Right now if I save the form, the status of the Radio Button and variables used in the JS code are not stored. So if I open the saved file, the form will not reflect the original status of Radio Button and variables.
What's the best way to implement this?
Can I save the status of the Radio Button (choice selected) and variables when the user saves the form and then restore them when opened back?

Without knowing more about what you're doing, it's hard to give specific information. I'm not sure what you mean about the status of the radio buttons since when a form is saved, their state won't change when it's reopened. For saving data, you certainly could use a hidden field and read it in using a script that executes when the form is opened.
