RAID 1 Issue - One array becomes two

All:
I have setup a RAID 1 array with two identical segate SATA 150 drives. This was a clean install, and everything went without a hitch. My problem is this: after a week or so, I would boot the PC and The BIOS RAID array would say "Error--Degraded." It took a long time to boot, but was fine and when I got into Windows, my C:\ drive was joined by a D:\drive (the second Seagate.)
I shut down, rebooted, and went into the RAID BIOS. The second drive had magically gained its own array (non-bootable), which I deleted. The PC booted fine with a healthy RAID array, and all was well.
Until it happened again a day later. And again. And again. Basically, the array doesn't stay stable for more than a couple days. I even swapped out the drives with Seagate as they were clicking. The new ones are good, but the problem still occurs.
I have not experienced any data loss, but am mystified as to what is going on here...Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same problem, except I am using 4 hdds in RAID 0+1. one drive dropped out and the machine crawls now. Could it be an issue with SATAI vs SATAII? I have 4 Seagate Barracuda 120GB drives, but they were purchased over a two year period, so I suspect their firmwares vary a bit...
Any help would be much appreciated.
BTW, I have the latest BIOS installed (v1.B)

1. Don't confuse "Apple ID" with iTunes Account ID. You can have many Apple IDs but only one iTunes account active at a time.
2. If you "changed" your iTunes account ID, you actually have 2 accounts - one under the old name plus the new name.
3. You can't merge the accounts - they remain separate. Apps purcahsed under the old account name will update ONLY WHEN THE PHONE IS SIGNED IN TO THE OLD ACCOUNT NAME and visa versa.
4. Likewise, you can sync only the apps, music, media purchased under the account the phone AND iTunes are signed in to.

P45 Platinum Raid 1 issues Intel vs Jmicron ?

I have been experiencing intermittent problems with Raid 1 installation using the Intel Controller.
Several problems were definitely due to HD errors and I have had two failed drives swapped out over the last six months.
However after the last drive replacement things seemed to be stable for several weeks before problems started to emerge again.
The interesting thing is that the problem had switched to the oldest drive in the system which until now had been completely stable and I'm now wondering if it’s an Intel Raid related issue rather than the drives.
What’s Happening:
I boot and both drives are recognised by the Bios.
Both drives show up in the Raid Bios screen
Once booted into windows one of several things happen.
1) Once drive is not visible and is reported in the Intel Raid Console as missing. Reboot and its back in a rebuild state
2) Windows boot proceeds normally and then one of the drives (always the same one) will go off line and be reported as missing. reboot and again the drive will be visible in the Bios and Raid Bios screen and be marked for rebuild
Once the drive has rebuilt it may be stable for hours or days or disappear again during the rebuild.
Drives are Maxtor STM31000340AS and a Seagate ST41000340AS, so essentially the same drive and both running the latest firmware updates.
Interestingly the port numbers reported in the Intel Raid Console for the drives is different from that reported in the Bios discovery and the Raid BIOS.
It is now always the Maxtor drive that goes offline where as previously it was always the Seagate. I’m now starting to wonder if its actualy a raid Bios/Console issue rather than the drives.
Has anyone else experienced similar problem in a Raid 1 configuration ?
I had been thinking about moving both drives over onto the JMicron Raid Controller but was uncertain if this can be done as a straight swap or if it’s likely screw up any data on the disks.
Again any experiences of advice would be welcome.

I have tried changing the SATA cables for the new types with the locking clips and ensured that there are no major bends in them, with no improvement.
I have also tested the integrity of the drives with Seagate’s test software using both the short and long tests, which show no problems when connected as IDE or ACHI (won’t allow me to test in RAID mode).
No problems reported but the drive still goes offline when reconnected in RAID mode. Which is partly what has made me wonder if there is a problem with the RAID BIOS, Drivers of Console Software.
Coupled with the fact that the drive which was being affected by the disconnections suddenly changed to one which had been stable for months and the drive that had previously caused problems has now become stable.
I’m also running the latest drivers and Intel Matrix Storage Console 8.8.0.1009, although I’m a little concerned by the number of outstanding bugs that are listed in the release notes, just indicates a poor product with almost 40 unresolved issues.
Currently I’m using standard RAID settings in the BIOS for the Intel ports with the Jmicron controller set to IDE but nothing connected.
The drives are essentially identical apart from the model number strings and the labels on the drives, both are at the equivalent level of drive firmware. Originally they were two Maxtor drives one of which failed with a hardware problem and was replaced by the Seagate equivalent, which is the same hardware and software with just the manufacturers branding being different.
Over the weekend I isolated the drive that was having problems, reformatted completely, performed a BIOS reset, re-added and rebuilt the drive into the RAID array.
So far its only been two days but things have been stable so far, although I have had periods of weeks without a problem before it reappears.
Sliksta, when you suggested updating the BIOS were you suggesting one of the Beta BIOS’s ? As I’m currently on the latest official release .

How to create one delivery for two sales orders?

Hi Experts,
I need to create one delivery for two sales orders. But it fails.
The route, shipping point, ship to party are same for both orders but INCOTERMS are different.
Delivery date, Good issue date, loading date,material availability date, transportation planning date for 1st order is 12/07/11 and for second order is 14/07/11.
I have created delivery on 14/07/2011 but the delivery is created for 1st order only, the second order is missing in the delivery.
It not happened because of incorterms.? different dates

To understand splitting behavior, see SAP Note 546668 - FAQ: Delivery split when creating deliveries. And yes, incoterms happens.
I think that with the help of question 6 you can try to force the merging of SO. Then, see SAP Note 166397 - Delivery split according to customer field ZUKRL, and handling the field ZUKRL in a VOFM in the copy rule I think that you can try to do it.
Finally See Note 4505 - Duprec when adding delivery (VL04, VL01, VL10*) to avoid problems while you are merging.

ZFS mirror on root, one of the two devices appears offline

I'm a new Archlinux user. I've managed to install it on a pool (called RAID1) composed of two LUKS encrypted devices (/dev/mapper/HD3 and /dev/mapper/HD10).
This is the pool:

I wrote a custom hook, run before the zfs hook, which opens a small (5MB) LUKS image (/etc/keys.img) asking for its key, and mounts it under /keys. Then, for each device in /etc/earlycrypttab, it opens the device taking the respective keyfile from /keys.
Here is the code, if it could help debug the problem. Feel free to use it, if it might be useful to you. Sorry if it's not too good.

Now, the problem is this: for some reason, after booting, HD3 is shown as offline and the pool is shown as DEGRADED. /dev/mapper/HD3 is open and working, though. Running a simple
# zpool online RAID1 HD3
fixes the pool.
I know for sure that after the customcrypt hook is run, that LUKS device is open. I've managed to get into ash just after the customcrypt hook, and the LUKS device is open, but
# zpool list
keeps saying that HD3 is offline.
Anyway, if (still inside ash, after the customcrypt hook and before the zfs hook) I run
# zpool export RAID1
# zpool import
zpool finds both devices as online.
I first thought it could be a problem of the /etc/zfs/zpool.cache file. I tried recreating it and recreating the initram (with mkinitcpio -p linux), but still no luck.
Do you have any idea about what could be the problem?

@stefa : Did you get any resolution on this? I ran into the exact same problem two days ago and I can't seem to find the "right" fix. I'm using a zfs mirror on top of luks and figured it was due to the luks device not being online but after reading your post... I'm not so sure.
Post boot I'm able to offline the missing device and online it without issue. My only concern is why isn't this coming up with both disks at the time of import and will it boot if the offline drive is the only one of the two active at the time of boot? I setup the mirror so I could have a drive fail and still boot...
@esko: I've got zfs set to auto-mount and the mount points are all working properly.

Multiple RAID setups in one Xserve?

Hi hope you can help me, we are a small architecture practice in the market for a new server and we are considering an Xserve and Xserve RAID system. I would quite like to set up the Xserve unit to use two of the drives in RAID 1 to mirror the operating system. My question is it possible and/or wise to have multiple RAID sets in the Xserve RAID unit? For example using four of the bays for 4x500Gb in RAID 1 (1Tb storage) for projects, and then using another 2 bays for 2x250Gb in RAID 1 as well for say Mail, maybe even another 2 bays for holding user home accounts. I understand that with share points this isn't strictly necessary but it seems to make sense to keep functions separate across hard drives for quick replacements. Or is this a lot to ask of a single RAID controller?
Also how easy is to add storage to an existing RAID set-up without destroying the data?; say we wanted to increase the 1Tb project storage to 2Tb easily.

I think you are over complicating you setup.
If you do multiple RAID sets the you are really anti-optimiziung. If you asked "How can I get the least performance and lowest capacity out of a RAID?" then I would suggest three mirrored disks w/ spare per controller.
You would have far better performance and capacity if you were to put two drives in the Xserve to mirror, then set up your RAID as RAID 5 across 6 disks with 1 spare (default config).
With Disk Utility you can build multiple file systems on the RAID, so you could slice it up, but again that could be wasting space.
When you get the RAID setup as one file system do not share the root. Set up sub dirs to share:
/Volumes/Raid1 --your RAID root, aka mount point.
/Volumes/Raid1/Mail -- mail
/Volumes/Raid1/Users -- Home dirs
/Volumes/Raid1/Projects -- your production storage
/Volumes/Raid1/Backup -- Save disk images of your server and workstations here.
And yes, changing the size of a file system means wiping it out and restoring from backup.
Also consider the 750GB drives, it's a lot more storage for not that much more money.

What is the best way to move data from one array to another

I'm going to be moving data from one array to a larger array on the same RAID but different controller. (I have some extra extra drives I'm also going to be installing Retrospect so I can't just restore from a backup.)
The RAID has 450GB of production files, fonts etc.
What is the best way to move the data over?
I saw that someone had suggested using ditto. Would that be better than MacMV?
I also own Bru LE so I could use that.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Ditto is a great option -- probably the best.

TLS cipher suites: Is there any Windows application that is using one of the two NULL cipher suites?

My question is about these two standard cipher suites from Windows 7/8 (and Windows Servers):
TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA256
TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA
Question: Is there any native Windows 7 application/process that must use one of these two ciphers?
If not, I would simply kick them out to make sure that they are never used.
Bonus question: Is there any reason to keep these on any Windows Server?

Thank you for your response. I kicked out the NULL ciphers and everything weaker than 3DES. Consequently I also deactivated SSLv3 on five windows clients (computers and not servers, no server admin here). Rearranged the order of preference according to
my needs. So far I don't experience any issues. Did the same with JRE many years ago (just kicked it out), now I lean back and enjoy the show.

Bridge auto expands from one monitor to two when accessing folders

When I try to rename a folder Bridge auto expands from one monitor to two monitors and doesn't let me change the name. If I try to delete a photo it auto expands, lets me delete the photo but remains expanded across two monitors. This is a new experience I have had Bridge CC for about a year and this activity started on Friday. How do I prevent Bridge from automatically expanding across the two monitors?

if you are using WCCP then the WAE becomes the client withing the servcie groups 61, 62. In order to accelerate both vlans then apply the ip redirect 61 in on the client vlan ineterfaces to the one interface.
If inline, you can use both 2 port groups for each client interface or trunk all to a single inetrface and configure which vlans you would like to accelerate.
Now in terms of of using both GE inetrfaces, I would have to check. A topology diagram would help

Hi, I have a problem with my app: After purchasing the Auto-Renewable subscription, the latest issue did not become available for download/reading.
These are the steps I done:
1. I selected one of the options for subscribe
2. Gone through In App Purchase
3. After going through the In App Purchase, app updates the library
4. After updating the library, the latest issue, is not available for download. It still has "Buy" button
The ios certificates seems ok (redone many times), same steps of other 3 apps I already done.
The In-app purchase Product ID are the same in the iTunes Connect and in the app through Viewer Builder (latest version with v19 tools)
In Adobe dashboard the shared secret are set properly, paywall disabled
Somebody had the same problem and can help me? I don't know really what else I can do

Today in iTunes Connect create a new in-app and auto-renewable subscription with a new id, rebuild the app with v20 tools and the new in-app purchase ids, delete the free issue and the in-purchase issue in the adobe dashboard and upload from my original indesign files again (the free with date for pubblication yesterday the other with today date), tested all in the sandbox and... everything works fine, after the subscription purchase the button became "download". I was happy and I sent the new app to Apple again (fourth time) for the approval. After only few hours later Apple start the review (this was amazing because it usually takes at least 5 days). One hour later I receive the "reject" state again

Saving Arrays to one Array, Arrays zusammenfassen

I have two arrays, f.e. "1 2 3 4 5" and "6 7 8 9 0", an I want to save them in one array like:
1 6
2 7
3 8
4 9
5 0
(two values in one line seperated by tab)
The "Build array" vi gives the following output:
" 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0"
inkluding the strange Symbol "[]" (a square) and no linebreak. How can I handle this? I attached my original output.

OK, try this. It will only work if you are using numerics. Modify the %15e as required for your type of numbers.

Hash with one key and two values

In java can i have a hash or similar data type than can have one value and two keys?

Eh, I'd avoid arrays, personally.
The reason why is that in my experience, once you start doing things like this, you end up adding an arbitrary number of additional elements for each key. Fixed-size arrays would be a pain.
If you don't want/need to create an object that encapsulates the two values, why not just use a java.util.Collection as the value in the hash? The Collection -- say, a LinkedList (you decide) -- would hold the two values you want associated with the key.

Qosmio X300 - One of the two fans rattles abnormally

This started about two weeks ago.
One of the two fans under the laptop rattles abnormally. If I tilt the laptop for a while the rattling stops... but it's embarassing in the very least to have to do that on such an advanced laptop.
Sometimes the rattling stops when the fan's been running a while...
So anyone else had this issue? I've got next business day on-site support but would need to take a day off work if I want them to come out so am tryin to avoid that.

right... Toshiba sent someone out today.... and guess what... Toshiba managed to mess the whole thing up!
The way support works (well my understanding of ti following the disaster today) is as follows:
1) customer logs call with Toshiba
2) Toshiba order parts necessary and contact a support company that is not actually a part of Toshiba, but is contracted to carry out support
3) support company replaces parts as necessary
so, i 1) called Toshiba they told me they'd send someone over with 2 cooling fans, 2) they ordered two thermal conductors for the graphics boards (NOT FANS, JUST THE METAL PLATES!!!), 3) support guy came, when i told him what the problem was he was surprised Toshiba gave him thermal conductors and not fans. so we called Toshiba and logged a new call
i had to call Toshiba and log a new call... however, i insisted the operator note in the call records that this is the second time i am calling for the same issue as the first time they gave the poor support guy the wrong parts. now my contract only supports next business day on site visit.... as it's not practical for me to take this laptop with me to work i took a day off to be at home.....
Now that means i'll have to do it again,... so i think, hang on, Toshiba offer 24/7 on site support, so i'll ask them if, as it was their fault, they'll send someone over the weekend. "it's not within our power to do that" toshiba said "you'll have to contact the engineers company and ask them if they'll do it"... i didn't make the mistake, why should i ask?
The engineer didn't make the mistake, so why should his company have to be generous and give me a free day on site on a weekend?
Toshiba made the mistake, they should pay the engineers company to have him back on a weekend.
that is what i shall be arguing on the phone tomorrow (to Toshiba and not the engineering company) when the engineer calls up and no doubt says Toshiba are only paying for me to have a monday to friday service.
A customer should not have to worry about who Toshiba award their contracts to.
Oh, and on the matter of the fans themselves, the engineer took them out, he could find nothing inside... i tapped the fans and am very sure one of them is a lil loose although the engineer didn't think tha should be causing the level of noise he heard. however, he stood there and did hear the awful noice it was making, as if repeatedly scraping against something as the blades rushed past.
So... more updates as soon as possible... but Toshiba really screwed this one up and it's cost me a day of my annual leave... thanks Toshiba.
